Fire and Dice is located in the Walnut Grove Shopping Center in Northridge. It's the perfect tabletop gaming store, and they host tournaments for D&D, MTG, Pokémon, and more. I've seen tournament entry fees range from about $7 to $20. You can always check out their page for upcoming tournaments, which are super fun. They have tons of board games and other items available for purchase, and it's always exciting to try new games I haven't played before. They're constantly bringing in new products, which makes each visit feel fresh. They're open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends and until 10 p.m. during the week.

This is a wonderful community space for gamers and a really fun place to hang out after work or school. I'm here all the time. They host regular events to play in with plenty of space. They specialize in Magic The Gathering and Pokémon but are expanding into board games and other stuff. They have a large card selection for deck-building and lower event entry fees than other stores of the same type. They now have rooms you can book for DnD plus rooms for streamers. They even have Gundam model kits, which I got for a friend's birthday gift. When you go, make sure you say hi to Adam specifically. He's the best!

I got into TCG because of my buddy James. It started as collecting then converted into playing the actual game. There are a small handful of LCS on my side of the valley but are slowly thinning. I've known about Fire and Dice for a couple years now but since it is not local to me, I've never been. Until recently. I recently decided to join a pre-release event for the latest Pokémon set. Since I've recently started to build decks and play the game I thought I would like to take the time to experience doing it in public and meeting new people. At first since I didn't know much I was pretty intimidated. While the event started I started to talk to some people around while building the deck. While playing our three rounds, I definitely felt more comfortable, but I may have talked more than played. lol Overall I had a great first experience. I thought I would totally bomb but regardless if I did it was mainly for the social aspect of the event. Comparing FAD to other LCS, I would say that their gaming are is pretty nice. Most LCS' gaming area just feels like tables and chairs laid out and that it. While FAD's gaming area feels like an actual section to play in. I like that they have monitors to designate what is going on and think that is very nice on the presentation and enhances the experience. Parking: small private lot VERDICT: Rinse and repeat

I loved their drink selection--they offer wine, cider, and beer alongside standard coffee. Their food menu is also solid, featuring sandwiches, charcuterie boards, and pastries. We visited on a Thursday morning & it was surprisingly packed; every table was full. We managed to snag a spot in the middle, but the space felt very cramped. We were so close to the next table that we could hear their entire conversation, which wasn't ideal. My friend enjoyed the club sandwich, which came with a side of tater tots. We both tried the hibiscus iced tea--it was refreshing, but I have to admit it was a bit lacking in flavor. They have a cool selection of games, plushies, shirts, and coffee beans for sale. The back lot is extremely small. Plan on finding street parking. Arrive very early to beat the crowds! Overall, It's a fun place to hang out and I'd likely stop by again if I'm in the area, though the close quarters are something to keep in mind. IG @balicookingadventures

There were a couple employees available and I asked to see a couple cards but they insisted I type it into the system, select all the cards I'm interested in, then select check out, and THEN an employee would gather the cards for me to view. The first couple of cards I tried to type in were not found in the system but were in the display case. The employee suggested I type the card number (e.g. 2/108) and that did not work either. Finally I found a card I liked in the system but when I looked up that particular card, it appeared to have 2 versions, both near mint but different prices. When asked about the difference in prices, the person behind the counter took 10 minutes to research the cards and change the prices to even higher than originally listed - stating there was only 1 version of the card and they were mislabeled in the system. At this point, he finally showed me the cards and they were objectively not near mint. I wanted to get a closer look to see how played they were but they would not let me see the card outside the sleeve even when I requested that they take it out themselves if they were scared I would damage the card. He then again took the time to inspect the cards himself and correct the listed condition of the cards in their system while he had me wait. I asked if they would honor the original listed price from when I walked in but they said no. With that, and my not being able to make my own, closer inspection on the condition, I ended up not buying anything since I had no baseline to go off to see if it was worth buying for myself. Even without making a purchase, it was an awkward, uncomfortable shopping experience. The sealed product was comparatively much higher than the current market prices. There is a decent selection of singles but their tablet system was misleading and inconsistent. The selections were not good enough to entice me to come back. Be careful in your own price checking when coming to this place.

I am extremely disappointed with the environment this TCG shop allows. A gaming store should be a…read moreplace where players of all ages and skill levels can enjoy the hobby, learn, and have fun. Instead, what I witnessed was a toxic atmosphere where bullying and harassment appeared to be tolerated. There is an individual named Matt who, from what I observed and heard from others, repeatedly belittles and embarrasses another player simply because of the deck they choose to play. It goes beyond normal competitive banter. The behavior included yelling, mocking, and encouraging others to stop playing with that person. Watching a group of people gang up on a single player was uncomfortable and completely against the spirit of any gaming community. What is even more concerning is that the store seemed willing to allow this behavior to continue. A business that hosts tournaments and community events has a responsibility to ensure that all customers feel welcome and respected. Allowing an adult to repeatedly bully another player sends the message that intimidation and harassment are acceptable. No player should be made to feel excluded, humiliated, or targeted for simply playing a legal deck in a card game. If this is the type of environment the store supports, then it is not a community I would recommend to others. The staff should take these issues seriously and create a more respectful atmosphere for everyone who walks through the door. I have video of what occurred and intend to share it publicly so that others can see the situation for themselves and form their own opinions. Rather than relying on rumors or secondhand accounts, people will be able to view the events as they happened.

They have a good selection of games, they have a really excellent selection of puzzles. I'm sure this is driven by what sells for them but they have way too many Funko pop figures for me. That's not my thing, and it takes up a lot of space in the store. But I'm sure they sell a lot of them. They also have some great toys, although not a great selection of them. Everyone here who works here is friendly and helpful. We've never had any issues there. I will say their recommendations are not always great. The main thing that does bring this store down a little bit is just how expensive some of the things can be. It's pretty often that you can find the same item for less money on Amazon. I know that makes me sound heartless, and I love supporting shops like this, but sometimes the price difference is very considerable. But overall it's a great store, definitely check it out.

As you'd expect, most game stores attract a certain demographic of people that often have superiority complexes within their hobby, so you end up with lots of the older guys being condescending, rude, arrogant, and generally unlikable about their children's card games at events like Friday Night Magic (such as community all-star Jeff H). Also a lot of them smell really bad, it's becoming a serious issue at larger events. The 40K community is fantastic, though and so is the D&D and other misc games. Great store, highly recommend.
