Fire and Dice is located in the Walnut Grove Shopping Center in Northridge. It's the perfect tabletop gaming store, and they host tournaments for D&D, MTG, Pokémon, and more. I've seen tournament entry fees range from about $7 to $20. You can always check out their page for upcoming tournaments, which are super fun. They have tons of board games and other items available for purchase, and it's always exciting to try new games I haven't played before. They're constantly bringing in new products, which makes each visit feel fresh. They're open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends and until 10 p.m. during the week.

This is a wonderful community space for gamers and a really fun place to hang out after work or school. I'm here all the time. They host regular events to play in with plenty of space. They specialize in Magic The Gathering and Pokémon but are expanding into board games and other stuff. They have a large card selection for deck-building and lower event entry fees than other stores of the same type. They now have rooms you can book for DnD plus rooms for streamers. They even have Gundam model kits, which I got for a friend's birthday gift. When you go, make sure you say hi to Adam specifically. He's the best!

I got into TCG because of my buddy James. It started as collecting then converted into playing the actual game. There are a small handful of LCS on my side of the valley but are slowly thinning. I've known about Fire and Dice for a couple years now but since it is not local to me, I've never been. Until recently. I recently decided to join a pre-release event for the latest Pokémon set. Since I've recently started to build decks and play the game I thought I would like to take the time to experience doing it in public and meeting new people. At first since I didn't know much I was pretty intimidated. While the event started I started to talk to some people around while building the deck. While playing our three rounds, I definitely felt more comfortable, but I may have talked more than played. lol Overall I had a great first experience. I thought I would totally bomb but regardless if I did it was mainly for the social aspect of the event. Comparing FAD to other LCS, I would say that their gaming are is pretty nice. Most LCS' gaming area just feels like tables and chairs laid out and that it. While FAD's gaming area feels like an actual section to play in. I like that they have monitors to designate what is going on and think that is very nice on the presentation and enhances the experience. Parking: small private lot VERDICT: Rinse and repeat

This place has really good lattes, and the Garlicky Grilled Cheese sandwich was very large and very good (they really delivered on the garlic!), though not very filling. The prices are certainly not cheap (two drinks and a sandwich was over $30), and you'll finish your drink quickly, but the quality is good. The staff were very amiable and helpful. As for the gaming aspect, they did not have most of their stock for check out when we went because there were tabling at a con for the weekend. This did mean that the usual $5 fee to checkout a game was waived, and the employee I spoke to was very helpful in recommending a game for our party size (2 players) from the remaining stock. While we didn't actually successfully figure out the game (called Scout), I think this is more a flaw of the game or ourselves rather than the shop itself. I also really enjoyed the outdoor seating. I plan to come back sometime (hopefully soon) to explore more of their collection! As it stands, I recommend this place as a spot to stop in, order something light, and see what you can see of their games. Maybe some of their regular events will be up your alley!

I loved their drink selection--they offer wine, cider, and beer alongside standard coffee. Their food menu is also solid, featuring sandwiches, charcuterie boards, and pastries. We visited on a Thursday morning & it was surprisingly packed; every table was full. We managed to snag a spot in the middle, but the space felt very cramped. We were so close to the next table that we could hear their entire conversation, which wasn't ideal. My friend enjoyed the club sandwich, which came with a side of tater tots. We both tried the hibiscus iced tea--it was refreshing, but I have to admit it was a bit lacking in flavor. They have a cool selection of games, plushies, shirts, and coffee beans for sale. The back lot is extremely small. Plan on finding street parking. Arrive very early to beat the crowds! Overall, It's a fun place to hang out and I'd likely stop by again if I'm in the area, though the close quarters are something to keep in mind. IG @balicookingadventures

We're a big board game and puzzle family and this is the best store for both of those things in the San Fernando Valley that I'm aware of. It is located inside the mall so be aware of that. They have a good selection of games, they have a really excellent selection of puzzles. I'm sure this is driven by what sells for them but they have way too many Funko pop figures for me. That's not my thing, and it takes up a lot of space in the store. But I'm sure they sell a lot of them. They also have some great toys, although not a great selection of them. Everyone here who works here is friendly and helpful. We've never had any issues there. I will say their recommendations are not always great. The main thing that does bring this store down a little bit is just how expensive some of the things can be. It's pretty often that you can find the same item for less money on Amazon. I know that makes me sound heartless, and I love supporting shops like this, but sometimes the price difference is very considerable. But overall it's a great store, definitely check it out.

When I walked into Darkside Games, I wasn't greeted. One employee was helping a customer with a trade of multiple Pokémon cards, which is understandable, but I stood by the display case looking at Magic cards for quite a while without any acknowledgment or indication I'd be helped. During that time, another customer who seemed like a regular came in and was immediately helped, while I continued waiting. A second employee later came out from the back, walked past me without saying anything, and started working without checking if I needed help. After about 15-16 minutes, I finally asked about a single card I was looking for and got a dismissive response.
