    We had our air go out AGAIN right when the heatwave hit. Thankfully, we have a home warranty and we were able to contact them for service. They said that it would be a week before we could get service (!!!!) but maybe if we reached out to the provider ourselves, we could get faster service. (I'll write another review about that later). I reached out to Fire and Ice and the kind lady on the phone immediately scheduled us for service that following Tuesday. Tuesday rolled around and it turned out to be the hottest day of the week at 106 degrees. TC showed up at the early end of the estimated 1pm -3pm window. He was professional, polite and explained everything he was doing as he worked. It turned out that there were some wire shorts on the main unit and he added a start capacitor to make the system more efficient. I now recommend Fire and Ice to everyone because even though we didn't pay them directly, I feel like we definitely got our money's worth!

A remote control was placed between a light switch and the door. You need to turn on the light before you use the remote, preferably w/o scraping your knuckles. 2. A pile of trash was left behind. I forgave that since the three men worked hard for more than 8 hours. 3. After they did wiring in my attic, insulation started falling through the kitchen ceiling vent. I pointed it out and the installer vacuumed the vent from below. I said it would be better to blow it, but he said it would be fine. It continues to fall down thru the vent. 4. Old HVAC vents were blocked to keep the warm air in and cold air out, but they left a big one in the old HVAC closet. Also, they capped the gas pipe inside the closet, so there are two holes to the outside. I could have made the closet look finished if they had capped the pipe below the house. 5. The way they inserted the cable ducts through the foundation air vent was poor. Rodents can now enter. 6. Poor oversight and communication. I wanted easy things corrected that would take 20min. "Mark" promised someone would get back to me...they never did. I called/texted about 5 times. Finally he stopped responding. UPDATE: The Yelp review prompted a call from Mark. He asked the foreman Zach to call me and address the problems. Zach called, said someone was in my area and would be by within 30 min. No one showed. No one called or texted. I will take a start off for poor oversight.

A-1 answered every question confidently, corrected a spec error in their own quote when I caught it, and put everything in writing before I signed. Install day: Austin, Joey, and Edgar showed up on time. Floors covered, shoes covered, house treated well. Two days -- day one removal and new equipment, day two ductwork and zoning. Heating and cooling tested before they left. Full documentation handed over on the spot. No hidden charges, no surprises, no change orders. Price was mid-range among four quotes, but the warranty structure -- lifetime workmanship, no-lemon guarantee, payment at completion -- made it the best overall package. Still have HERS test-out and city inspection scheduled, but based on every step of this process I'd recommend A-1 without hesitation. Austin, Joey, and Edgar did a great job.

I received timely communication and responses from them prior to the appointment confirming date and time as well as the name of the Tech who would be servicing the system. Anthony came within the window of time provided. He was extremely professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. He answered all the questions that I had and was able to take care of the issue efficiently and effectively. I'm on the fence about renewing my home warranty but I'm glad they were able to send me a company that I can refer to on my own that is reliable and great to work with. I just wish I had called them during my AC tune up window via my home warranty earlier in the year!

    **BEWARE -- DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!**…read more I strongly recommend thinking twice before hiring this company. There were so many problems with both the installation and the owner's conduct that it would take several pages to explain everything that happened. The installation was quoted as a one-day job but ended up taking three days. The work area was left in the condition shown in the photos. They completely destroyed the trim, door, and door frame. After the third day, they simply said they were finished and left everything completely trashed. When I did not immediately pay the full balance the moment the crew finished, I began receiving repeated phone calls and demands for payment. Only a couple of hours after the work was completed, the owner, David, came to my home late at night and continued knocking until I answered. He then confronted me at my front door, yelling and swearing while demanding his money. His behavior was aggressive, intimidating, and completely unacceptable. The following day, I began inspecting the system and immediately found problems throughout the installation. The filter was approximately half the size it should have been. They installed a 1-inch-thick filter even though the filter compartment was designed for a 4-inch filter. They also reused my old filter compartment, which did not properly line up with the blower unit, so they covered everything with an excessive amount of tape. When I attempted to remove the filter, I discovered that the filter door could only open a few inches because they had installed the overflow drain and S-trap directly in front of it. This is basic HVAC installation and common sense. In my opinion, it was a perfect example of the company not caring about performing decent-quality work. The overflow safety switch was also missing. The attic insulation had been pushed completely to the side and was never put back, and the surrounding trim was badly damaged. These were only some of the issues I discovered. The company had to return three separate times to correct problems. Approximately one week after the installation, the unit stopped working entirely. This happened during one of the coldest stretches of the winter, leaving us without reliable heat for approximately 10 days. We were forced to purchase several portable heaters just to keep the house warm. The system also failed its inspection and failed the HERS test twice. Problems related to this installation continued for approximately six to nine months. Throughout the dispute, David repeatedly contacted me at work, sometimes calling 30 to 40 times within a single hour. He contacted my boss, left messages on my work phone, and even emailed my employer accusing me of defrauding him. He also threatened me with bodily harm on more than one occasion and made statements suggesting that I should be afraid of him because of his alleged special operations military background. In hindsight, I should have contacted law enforcement and pursued legal action. Instead, I ultimately just wanted the situation resolved so I could have no further contact with him. Based on the poor workmanship, repeated installation failures, failed inspections, aggressive collection tactics, workplace harassment, and threats I personally experienced, I cannot recommend this company.
