3.5 starts. Went on a business cocktail party. We arrived at 5:30pm on Thursday night and the bar was already full. We were set in a private room with oak wall. The decor is quite simple and conservative, but somehow plain I have to say. The food, basically snacks that we had were pretty good. I enjoyed the grilled shrimps a lot. My coworkers tried the bite-size burger and all loved it. Sushi was a meh. Service was great. The waiter was very attentive and gave us good recommendations. My coworker enjoyed the lychee martini a lot. When I got out around 7ish the dining area was full. It seems this place gets a lot business. read more

I've never had a bad meal or bad service at Fire & Oak and I've eaten there many times. The salads are particularly good and the fries are out of this world. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Prices are on par with similar restaurants in the area. Happy hour can get loud and you need to get there early if you want a seat. It does tend to attract a crowd that might be a little intimidating to some and I think that is why some people may give it a bad review. Go and judge for yourself. read more

This place is Awesome! First of all, when you walk inside you don't even feel like you are in Montvale, NJ. It felt like we stepped into NYC for lunch. Everything is dark and trendy. Lots of couches, comfy chairs and a huge bar. A very good happy hour kind of place. The staff was very nice, super attentive, not to mention they knew the ins and outs of almost all the dishes being served. I opted for a little bit of a pricier dish - salmon, with rice and wild veggies. So delicious! The salmon was cooked to perfection, it had a sweet miso glaze on top. (They also gave you a pretty big portion for it being a lunch dish.) My friend had the Cesar chicken salad. He said it was pretty good, however they used more of the oily Cesar dressing. Doesn't taste as good, but it is much healthier. We almost ordered a dessert, but we decided to be good to our waist lines. We are going to defiantly be making this a once a month stop and I can't wait to see how happy hour is!!! read more

The restaurant is beautiful without a doubt. However, the food is at your own risk of mediocre to straight up bland-ville. Their saving grace that warranted the extra star is their Monday night dollar oysters, and their chocolate peanut butter pie dessert. These were the best items that a co-worker and I had ordered. The sushi was not the freshest grade from what we could see in our Rainbow roll. Our entrees (lobster pasta and seafood risotto), were really, really bland. Food: 3.5/4 Appetizers were good, main course was bland and forgettable (mashed potatoes were actually pretty bad), and dessert was extremely good Service: 3/5 for server; 1/5 for hostess, who was abrupt and dismissive. Our party of 8 had a reservation, but our table wasn't ready on time. We were asked to wait in the bar/lounge area, which was not busy at 5 pm on a Monday. The hostess snapped at us when we tried to put 2 tables together. Really unimpressed. First the good: The service was great the night we were there. The menu is interesting and contains affordably priced selections of wine. Draft beer selections are good as well. The décor and ambiance is exceptional. But holy salt Batman! The chicken lollipop appetizers, tuna steak and filet mignon were WAY too salty. Not sure why this is necessary and I knocked 2 stars off the rating due to this. The meatballs with ricotta cheese (appetizer) was very good and not salty. I would be willing to try again, perhaps the heavy salt was just a freak thing, or perhaps we can ask them to go easy on the sodium next time. read more

The only reason why I rated a 3 is because of the food. I order the linguini with crabmeat and shrimp. It had a weird after taste. It kinda tasted like clay. I wasn't really feeling it. But, the service was great so was the atmosphere. The waiter was amazing she was def on point. My wife did love her dish which she ordered the hanger steak with asparagus. My husband and I visited Fire & Oak about 2 weeks ago and loved it. The reason we ended up there was because Houston's in Hackensack had a 2 hour wait! The exterior Courtyard Marriott is unassuming and to be honest, quite off-putting. But when you walk in, you will find yourself in a gorgeous restaurant. The decor is beautiful and it is overall a great scene. The menu is not too big, but has plenty to choose from. We were impressed with the wine list and the mark-ups are not too high. We ordered oysters to start, I had the crab cakes for dinner and my husband ordered the sesame seared tuna steak salad. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We have returned a few times since and the food quality has been slightly above average. One night, we went for a latish drink with a friend around 10pm and they were no longer serving food but brought by some bread and chips for us to munch on which was very nice. read more

I want to be clear the waitress we had when we went this past weekend was very nice, and the only thing about this restaurant that was nice. This place was awful, I don't ever want to come here again. The food here is absolutely atrocious. A member of my party, who is most certainly a wine snob, ordered a glass of red wine that had gone bad! A restaurant that is this pricy should be more careful to alway have good wine. I ordered a steak medium well, I received it medium rare! That's no where near medium well. They then said that they would cook it to medium well, but it returned to me burnt to a crisp! Another member of our party had ordered a strip steak with a price similar to other steakhouses, the only difference is that this steak had no flavor! A $44 steak should be full of flavor. Whoever is working in the kitchen is clearly not qualified to be cooking at an upscale restaurant. The manger on duty was not sympathetic at all and did very little to right the situation. Much more could of been done to make sure that we left happy. Save your money, do not go here. read more

Went to Fire & Oak with my family for dinner tonight. Started off at the bar and ordered a Grey Goose and tonic and the bartender poured me a Tito's also ordered a Manhattan and it was watered down. We sat for dinner and ordered 2 different sushi rolls (Thai tuna and coconut shrimp) and both did not contain fresh fish. My wife had the tuna steak salad for dinner and it was tasteless. I ordered the prime rib with a plain baked potato and the potato came with cheese bacon and sour cream inside it. My daughter order a New York Strip for $48 and it was dried out. Lastly, the dessert continued to disappoint while the cappuccino was luke warm and we did not receive the vanilla ice cream we ordered. Extremely dissatisfied with the amount of money we spent and have been frequent customers in the past,therefore we will not be returning in the future. read more

Been here 2 x, the first time was for a business lunch for a larger group service was poor(not attentive or professional) but food was very good. Today while the server was nice he was not around for me to tell him that the salmon was cooked so well done it lacked flavor(never checked on me once). Also why pack everyone against the wall. the rest of the room was empty and I heard peoples conversations that were private against my will. Good looking place. Oh and the hostess asking me "can I help you" with a attitude when I walked in at lunch time was a great start, then after I toldf her I was here for lunch and she was started to seat me she walked back to answered the phone. We have been there before and it was nice. We went as a family to Mother's Day brunch and it was not as I expected . We had 5 adults and 2 babies and the bill was 350.00. At first glance it's easy to dismiss as a weird hotel restaurant, but when you walk in, it's beautiful! I dined with a friend early on a Thursday (PSA: Thursday Night is reportedly Cougar Night at the bar lol). We started off with the spinach and artichoke dip, which was okay. For dinner I had the 16oz Ribeye with a side of Truffle Fries and it was PERFECT. The best steak I've had in a while. Cooked to a perfect medium rare and smothered in a delicious butter. I ended up dipping my last couple of pieces in the truffle oil at the bottom of my fries and OMG was that delectable. My friend had crab cakes, which she enjoyed. Our server was kind and attentive.
