I did mention it to our server who was very gracious and said she'd pass it on to the chef. Again, generally good, but they just didn't hit it out of the ballpark today.

My deep fried shrimp and with ribeye was fantastic. My boyfriend got their lobster special dinner and enjoyed it very much. Past orders from us have included the cod, perch, fishermen feast, and the pot roast melt sandwich. All of it is good. Prepandemic, we dined in. The place was not busy - about 50 percent occupied I would guess. My wife's dirty martini arrived without an olive. There is a huge list of pricey wines by the bottle, but only maybe 5 reds by the glass. And after a wait, I was told the one I ordered was out. The French onion soup we ordered was pretty good. Steak was good, a small filet mignon. But - it was just plopped on a plate by itself. A grey piece of meat in the middle of a white plate by itself. For $47. No garnish, no effort to make it attractive. Sides were wrong, ordered twice-baked potato, almost got a regular baked potato. Overall, food was OK, just low effort at presentation and slow in coming. There's no dessert menu. Would have been nice to have a cup of coffee and a piece of cheesecake. It's not like they were looking to turn the table, took us two hours start to finish. Though I noted on the reservation it was our anniversary, that didn't get carried through. We don't need to be treated like royalty, but why ask if it's a special occasion if you're not going to acknowledge it? The check was wrong. I was charged for the glass of wine I didn't get. Had to wait again while that got fixed. The restrooms aren't in the restaurant - you have to leave and hike down the hotel hall to find one. It's just not the 4-star experience you would think from the billing and the big prices on the menu. Look elsewhere if you are looking for that fine dining experience.

Personally I recommend the unlimited beer battered haddock on Friday's or the prime rib sandwiches are also really good. I tend to always pair the meal with their clam chowder, which is heaven in a cup, or some mozzarella nuggets/onion rings. The crowds are usually very diverse, though sometimes a bit of an older crowd, but there are amazing stories to be heard and people to meet. You can't go wrong giving this place a try!

Both this and the last time we were there, when you arrive, you check in with the bartender and they give you the menu. Then, once you're ready to order, the server comes out to take your order. A few minutes later, they tell you which table to sit at in the dining room. I really don't like this system. I understand doing this if you're waiting for a table because you're drinking at the bar or a table because they're full. The only time we were offered to order a drink was at the bar...the server never asked. What an easy upsell! I know we could have ordered something, but we all stuck with the water as we had been out touring all day. Has she offered, I would have gotten something. 4/5 of the meals we had came with the salad bar. Which I was really looking forward to. She never directed us up there...we just went.
