I dialed the spicyness at "medium". It was *perfect*! My wife had Pad Thai with chicken, and she left it at the default spicyness (medium), which ended up being too hot for her, but she soldiered on nevertheless enjoying the wonderful flavor. Perhaps because of the noodles and curry, the spiciness of the Pad Thai seemed much stronger than the Thai-Railway fried rice dish. Of course, we had leftovers and I'll probably end up eating hers, and she'll eat mine. The service was prompt, and the girl waiting on the tables was courteous, with a beautiful smile. The restaurant is deceptively roomy, seeming to be smaller from the outside, but once inside, it was quiet, clean, with comfortable chairs, clean tables, and large windows to enjoy some of Kihei's views (like today's gentle rain). As with most things these day on Maui, where everything comes in a shipping container, food costs are very noticable. At which point our waiter and another member of the staff come from the kitchen. The waiter 'greets us', takes our drink menu, and leaves. He calls back to the other member of the staff, and says "you were right". His demeanor was cold, smug, and condescending. He was PUSHING a $185 8oz Wagyu steak like there was a prize for selling it. The menu is limited, but we made our selections outside of his "recommendations". The only bright spot in the meal was the assistant that helped our waiter throughout the meal. He was warm, engaging, funny, and all around a great human. He took his time, and asked us where we were from etc. The meal was good, but not great. The experience with the waiter aside. We ordered the chicken (2), noodles, and the up country salad. The food was fresh and flavorful, but not earth shattering. I still tipped the waiter over 20%, but I also made a point to find the assistant and tip him separately. He salvaged the meal, and should be a lead waiter!
