Our furnace gave out in the dead of Chicago winter. We called Energy Services at 7AM and we had a new furnace installed and running by 9PM that evening! This included extensive custom ductwork to make the furnace seamlessly fit into our current system, dual venting to the outside, new gas pipes and drain lines. Greg, who coordinated services, was extremely helpful and positive. The guys who installed the furnace began working at 1pm and they were very pleasant, making sure I had a chance to ask all my questions and voice concerns. They were determined to finish the job that day and they had the support of their company who efficiently sent people to haul off the old machine and bring in the new equipment in perfect coordination. I am very much impressed with this company's workmanship and efficiently. Also the pricetag was very reasonable. We had received a quote from another company for much more! I was happy to see how the current reviews. I have been a long term customer and have had recent poor customer service. I set up my ac check in the fall. No show that day and no response to multiple calls that day until 5pm and told I needed to reschedule. Could not reach a live person to reschedule, so I tried online. Again no show. Multiple attempts to reach a manager but never returned my call. They did try calling to reschedule but no apology for not showing up or explanation for not showing up. Have not rescheduled because I don't have the time to stay home all day again and no one calls back to talk to. Won't even tell me the owners name or how to reach him about my dissatisfaction. Will be finding a new company. They used to be SO good. read more

As a 28 year customer of Energy Services who had 2 furnace and Air Conditioning systems installed by them I was extremely disappointed that they were unable to keep a service appointment that was made two months ago. When I called to check on the arrival time for the tech, I was assured that someone would get back to me with an update. I called again an hour before closing and was told the same thing. I called them and they said my appointment was cancelled and could I rebook for late July. I waited once again in July and no one showed. I called and was told my appointment was cancelled and can I wait for September. Unbelievable. I am even a loyalty club member! Stay away from this company. I am not sure what happen to this company but I have been a customer for over 15 years and never had a issue. Now! I would not recommend them!!! They cancelled 2 of my scheduled appointments after making me wait most of the day for them to show. When I called for a approximate arrival time is when I was told that other customers were a prior and my appointment wasn't an emergency so they were cancelling it. How rude. The first appointment was in April and I was told the next available appointment is July! I had the April appointment scheduled for 6 months. Now the July appointment is cancelled and the next available appointment is in August. When I spoke to Joe the field manager he stated that they could reschedule in a few days. Interesting. I have never had a problem with any of the technicians even with their merge with the current company. Last fall I made a SATURDAY appointment for my AC tune up....a few days before the appointment I called to confirm. I was told they do not do Saturday appointments at all anymore!! No one bothered to call me! I had to make another appointment during my caregiving job and had to leave early with ZERO pay! Fast forward to this scorching week...I called last night and I actually got what I am positively sure was an ENHANCED AI ROBOT! It is very frustrating to know you are not speaking to a human when you have a possible problem. Whenever I said something the fake typing would stop and the robot would say some response irrelevant to what I said! It is very disappointing that Energy Services merged with whatever company it is and I guess the robot put me on a wait list for Friday, but I'm not sure! Energy services has been who we've used for 30 years not sure what to do now......GET RID OF THE COMPANY YOU MERGED WITH AND THE ROBOTS! My air conditioner went out on a 90 degree day and I called Energy Services because of all the 5 Star reviews I saw on their website. I was very happy they came the next day. The technicians name was Steve. He was awesome! As soon as he arrived he told me he pretty sure he knew the problem and not only was it not going to be expensive but it wouldn't take long either. Within 30 minutes he had the air conditioning working. I needed a compressor. He showed us how to take care of the unit and was so helpful with explaining to us how things worked. He's thorough, patient, trustworthy and clearly explains what's going on. While he's on the front line of the company, everyone else is great. We've never had any problems scheduling or with the work. And the 1 or 2 times (at most in 2 houses over 30+ yrs) that there was an issue, they made it right. I emailed these guys for a quote on a replacement cell for my electronic air cleaner (which I damaged while cleaning). Instead of providing a price they told me Carrier no longer makes electronic air cleaners and I should replace the whole unit with a "Carrier Media Air Cleaner and the cost for that is $650 with installation". This is why people don't trust HVAC companies and always feel like they are getting ripped off. Why would I replace the whole filter with a new one when I can replace a $100 part instead? I replied to them to let them know their suggestion was like saying I should replace my furnace just because there was a newer one available. I got a reply saying they misunderstood my request and would send a quote for the replacement part... But then they never did. I would avoid this company if you value honesty, customer service, and your hard-earned-cash! read more

And that shows with every service. They are excellent and I would rate them more than five stars if I could & I speak from experience. I called one company, left a message, then called Energy Services. The phone was answered by an answering service with a promise of a call back within 5 minutes. Steve Mac, the tech called within minutes AND guided me in fixing the problem in less than 2 minutes. He stayed on the phone to ensure the house was heating. He called me back an hour or so later to double check. No charge and fast HEAT - they will be my go-to in Downers Grove. The problem, a ground fault coming from the humidifier keeping the furnace from running. Amazing he was able to work with me over the phone to fix the problem. Oh, the other company, called me 6 hours later, at least they called. It was a Saturday and I'm sure the techs were slammed. read more

This company came to our home because our furnace went out and gave us a quote of over $940 to fix it. The furnace was less than 12 years old, and it was obvious they were merely trying to sell us a new one. Don't be fooled, furnaces should easily last 15-20 years. We still had to pay $99 for the assessment. This was on a weekday during normal business hours. Was not an emergency or weekend call. We found a smaller company, that was very honest and knowledgeable. They fixed it the next day for a total cost of $283. Beware what they tell you, and always search out another bid. i called because there was a hole in my furnace vent pipe. the jwoman i talked to had.no clue what i was talking about when i described the size of the pipe and gave her a parts list to use. she told me they carried all kinds of pipe in their trucks. i told her to write down what i said and repeated it. (i guess i should have had her repeat it back to me.) she again told me they had all kinds of pipe in their truck because i wanted to have the problem taken care of that day and not take more time off for a 2nd trip. i asked her to have the service person text me when he was in the driveway...he called. should have been a sign. when he showed up, he had no parts at all. he was only there to look at the hole in the pipe, tell me i had a hole in the pipe and charge me $99. no work was done. the woman who answered the phone had not told him what parts i needed. he gave me an incredibly high price to return again and replace my pipe. i guess this is how they make their money, looking and quoting and walking away w $99 for doing NOTHING. i did find a great place, thatcher mechanical in plano who fixed it in one trip for a little more than half of energy services. won't be using them again. read more

Thieving Bastages - Bait & Switch! Energy Services quoted a new system for me: Carrier Performance 59TP6 furnace & CA13 air conditioner. When I asked for the cost to upgrade to a more efficient 15 SEER air conditioned, I was told it would be $800. When it came time to make the purchase two days later, I was told the upgrade to the 15 SEER AC would now cost $3250. I escalated to the owner and told him I had received a quote from Nick two days prior - they would not honor their pricing. I have had a service contract with Energy Services for one year now and have thus far been very pleased with the service I have been provided. Both the my furnace and AC cleanings went very well. In addition I have required two service calls in that time and in both instances the technicians arrived in a timely fashion, per my agreement I was not charged an after hours charge, and both times the technicians were very honest as to what was wrong. At no time have I felt that they attempted to replace anything that was not required. In addition every technician I have encountered seem to really enjoy what they do and have always been very courteous. Beware! If this is the same ownership over the years, this company had installed a defective leaking A coil then tried to cover up to run out the warranty. Weekly tech visits with no results. Seriously the techs stated you have to run the AC 24 hours a day when its 80deg. There was hardly any air coming through the vents, found out later that the coil was freezing up due to low freon and its defective A coil leak. Their tech wanted to change belts on furnace to increase air flow instead. All other HVAC techs stated this was a total scam, this company can live with these lies with no problem and have its employees on the same ball. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by the recent Spring service call for maintenance on my air conditioner system. Chris, the technician for Energy Services, thoroughly checked all the equipment, suggested that I change my filters to ones that were more efficient (and less expensive!) and even looked at my hot water heaters pointing out that they were more than 20 years old and likely to fail in the near future. He expressed concern that I could experience water damage in my finished basement, if I wasn't diligent in checking for leaks. Given the fact that I thought this new company only serviced or replaced air conditioners and heaters, I was impressed that he looked beyond the limits of the service call to point out other potential mechanical problems. There was no hard sell, just a recommendation to consider the company when I decided to replace my old heaters. Energy Services provided more than the minimum service for my Spring maintenance visit.
