    Old fashion cocktail

Absolutely love this intimate restaurant in the heart of Glen Ellyn. The low lighting and warm atmosphere are perfect for a date night or girls night out with a glass of wine. They have an excellent bar up front and make great cocktails- my husband and dad both love the classic old fashion! I'm a sucker for a nice glass of Pinot Noir. If you're dining in (and you really should!) The pasta bolognese is a must have. Always amazing. And the black pepper shrimp over polenta is an amazing appetizer! So rich and delicious. These are both part of my go-to order here. Recently expanded my order and tried the short rib over polenta for the first time, it was amazing. Tender. Flavorful. Good sized portion. Wonderful. Will absolutely get again. For dessert, and there's always room for dessert here in my opinion, I love to get the rich panna cotta. This past time though we got the butterscotch budino, which was smooth and rich without being overly sweet. It was perfect to share (or not)! Just enough hint of butterscotch and topped with a crumbled shortbread cookie to an add a little crunch to the otherwise creamy treat. The staff is always helpful in making recommendations to suit your tastes too! There is a call ahead wait list and they've also started taking reservations. Enjoy your night out in Glen Ellyn at Fire and Wine, cheers!

Vibes are immaculate -- warm, lively, and perfect whether it's a cozy date night, girls' night out, or a family dinner. The service was absolutely incredible -- friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience feel special. The menu is full of great options, and everything we tried was a hit. We ordered the steak with pesto gnocchi and the chicken caprese -- both were out of this world. The steak was tender, perfectly cooked, and paired beautifully with the creamy, flavorful gnocchi. The chicken caprese was juicy and fresh, topped with melty mozzarella and vibrant tomato-basil flavors that tied everything together perfectly. Drinks were fantastic -- fresh, balanced, and crafted with care. We finished with their tiramisu, which was moist, light, and absolutely delicious -- one of the best we've had in a long time. 10/10 recommend -- Fire + Wine nails it on atmosphere, service, and flavor! Highly recommend!

Four cheese pizza + pepperoni, Vodka Pasta

This was the loveliest experience. Our waitress was so kind and attentive and helpful, the staff kept our waters full (and bottles are left at the tables so you're never left thirsty), and the food was very good. We added pepperoni to the four cheese pizza, and it was really good, but note that ricotta comes on it by default (which is unique for a "four cheese pizza") and you might want to ask for no ricotta if you don't love ricotta. It came in clumps all over the pizza, so it should be easy to exclude. The vodka pasta was very spicy to me as someone who can't handle spice and I had to order a glass of milk to help me through it, but it was really yummy. The place is also decorated so beautifully, including the bathrooms. Coming here was a luxurious experience that I definitely recommend!

Stopped by Fire + Wine in Glen Ellyn for dinner. Overall a 3.5-star experience for me. We tried a couple pasta dishes -- the rigatoni with meat ragu and the short rib pasta. Ravioli with mushrooms all 3 were solid dishes. The ragu had good flavor and the portion was fair, and the short rib was tender with a rich sauce that worked well with the pasta the ravioli was rich and very well balanced in truffle oil. Nothing overly fancy, just good, hearty Italian-style plates. Dessert was a warm chocolate cake with powdered sugar, whipped cream, and strawberries, which was meh could tell it was baked a few days . Simple and satisfying. Service from Efren was friendly and the place has a nice neighborhood vibe. Overall a good local spot for pasta and wine, even if nothing completely blew me away.

I had originally found this place on social media. My friend and I went on a Saturday night, made reservations few days ahead, when we arrived they mentioned they are running 15 minutes behind, no big deal, but we ended up waiting 30 minutes even with a reservation made, this was very disappointing. Service was very good. Food was great as well, they also have gluten free options which makes ordering easy. The menu is very similar to Gia Mia's. It's a great place overall to try out but I would suggest going on a weekday or having an early dinner.

I've been here a couple other times and enjoyed myself, but today the food seemed better than ever! I had the delicious spicy chicken tortellini. Our waiter was speedy and friendly. They'd decorated for Christmas and the atmosphere felt very warm (though personally I feel the TVs kill the vibe a bit). I highly recommend this place, especially for a celebratory evening.

We called to make a reservation and the very cheerful Lexie answered the phone ... very politely said come on over . We were seated immediately after checking out of indoor was better than patio seating. My colleague wasn't happy about being squished between tables so approached Lexie again who generously accommodated us at a corner booth. Our drinks were okay, the northern lights and old fashioned ( have had better) . The entrees were delicious... crab cakes and salmon . Highly recommend!! Dessert was a gigantic chocolate cake .. which was okay . Coffee and tea were perfect temperature. Our server Melissa was very attentive and polite. Will certainly come back here

I've been to Fire and Wine on two separate occasions - dinner and brunch. The restaurant is pretty big and has lots of seating available. It can get pretty busy and may require a wait. The menu has a large variety of options and pricing is reasonable. Overall the food was underwhelming, and the service is a hit or miss based on my experience.

I love this restaurant. The pizza and pasta is always delicious and the service is very kind and professional as well. They just remodeled and it's very nice inside. Expect a wait if you do not have a reservation. Price is higher than average but normal for the area. I order their margherita pizza all the time and it's always perfect. They have a cool rotating chefs menu also. Only thing I wish was different is that they used to have really good to go deals on different nights of the week and they got rid of them after the remodel for some reason. If you want a nice italian place in the suburbs, this is it.

Absolutely incredible! They don't take reservations but they do priority seating if you call ahead so we did that and had no issues on a Friday night. In fact, we got one of the best seats in the house: a two-person high top in the front corner that had the most amazing view of the sunset. Our waiter was excellent. I forgot his name but he was super attentive and gave some great recommendations. For drinks, I tried the On the Strawberry Swing which was great! All the appetizers looked SO good. We ended up ordering the baked brie and mussels. Again, both dishes exceeded my expectations. At that point we were both already pretty full so we split the fig and prosciutto pie. The crust was so fresh and soft and it had just the right amount of toppings. At the end they brought out a surprise dessert for my birthday which was so great and embarrassing. There are very few places that still do free birthday desserts so that was a great surprise. Overall an incredible night. Great environment. Great service. And even greater food!

Yes they sure do! I like the burrata, zucchini fries, eggplant lasagna, and the fire roasted vegetable pie. They're also great about customizing their pizzas to accommodate vegetarians. You'll love this place.

I had the pimento dip, the 3 cheese breadsticks, and the baguette with fig spread and honestly considered canceling the rest of my day and just living there. The Summer Spritz was crisp and refreshing, while the sangria came in with a polite smile and then quietly reminded me to respect it because wow, it was strong and delicious. It works like this: They have about 100 wines set up to taste in a semi-circle around the store. A woman at the door checked our IDs, took our $5, and gave us a list of wines at each station. Everything being tasted was on sale for the day -- a minimum of 5% off with bigger discounts for larger quantities, up to 24% off. And then we were handed our "Wine Thing" wine glass (not to keep, alas) and a small bag of pretzels and headed in. This is not a huge store, so it was pretty crowded. But the people pouring the wines were as friendly and helpful as they could be, given the circumstances. And everyone was nice enough about letting people by, lubed up with good wine. Still, we had to emerge from the crowd every so often to get a little fresh air. But besides simply having more space for this event -- or maybe doing timed tickets or something? -- it's a GREAT way to taste a ton of wines from knowledgeable people and find a new favorite or two. :)

Walked in with starving teenage boys on a Sunday after noon. The place was packed. Ordered a Margarita pizza with 6 slices for an app. We have high expectations of this one and we were all so busy eating it and looking up. Wondering is this really this amazing. Hell yes, it was. The sauce, the crust. The amount of sauce. Etc. all hit it just right. Second app was a plate of fresh cut fries. Once again this place does not cut corners. Perfectly fried with a crunch and sea salt on top. That was a busy plate getting gobbled up before our entrees showed up. For my entree, I got the mushroom parpadelle with shrimp. I had no clue until I started to eat it that it was homemade pasta. In my head I kept thinking there is no way this is not made in house. I asked the waiter and yes indeed he said they are making pasta all day long. With the amount of people in this restaurant. I can only imagine how busy that kitchen is creating this soft and fresh beautiful pasta. If you have ever made pasta. You know how much time and work it is. Sorry, back to my dish: the shrimp we cooked to a perfection. Quality high, the mushrooms were fresh and I could not wait to find more. If you want Italian. Skip the chains.
