Not only does this place not take reservations but when it's not even full they won't seat you without your party being fully present. The waitress also had a list of what they don't offer at the bar. Calamari was excellent and the Caesar salad was fresh and dressing tasty. First time here and really love it. My waiter was super friendly. We got the appz zucchini fries and stuff risotto calamari and they were just bomb esp the stuff risotto calamari. Hope they leave it on the menu permanently. For entree we got the vodka pasta and Italian pizza. Pizza was good but I'm not a fan of the pasta from the vodka pasta. They were too chewy for my taste. Sauce was good though. Definitely will come back and try other things on the menu. Desserts look appealing too but we were too full to eat so next time we hope to try. read more

This place is located downtown Glen Elynn. Parking can get sort of busy but seeing it is in the burbs you can eventually find parking so not too bad. There was a 40 minute wait on a Friday night. The ambience is pretty cool, hip and somewhat upscale, trendy place. Our server Pedro was awesome. Friendly, great service and suggests good food items For apps we tried the fries zucchini and there was a speciality calamari dish and I would say I had alot of calamari dished in the past but I would say this is the best one so far. My wife got the vodka pasta. It was okay, pretty thick based dish. I got the Italian pizza which was very good. Overall I had a good experience with this establishment. I stopped by this place during the Glen Ellyn Jazz Festival in July. I had come here pre-pandemic and the food was great then. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It had been about 8 years since I last ate at Fire and Wine and it was during the festival. Just as I remembered the food did not disappoint. I believe it's off the menu, but I had the shrimp and pesto pizza. I am a pizza lover. This has got to be the best pizza I have ever tasted. The crust had the right chew and such a beautiful char. The shrimps were well seasoned and succulent. They were so sweet and fresh. My wife and I also had the grilled wings which were outstanding. I mentioned to her that we're going to have to come here for a date night. I would highly recommend this place. The food and service was nothing less than superb! Something has changed over there. My martini was not strong as it used to be for $15, and the chef must have been in love because everything was too salty. And they discontinued my favorite dish, whitefish with risotto, which was 50 per cent of the reason I went there every chance I got. The new version of white fish is pretty bad, would not recommend. My girlfriends and I came here for an early dinner and were greeted by the hostess who sat us right away. Our waiter was so nice and helped us pick the perfect drinks to start off our evening. We paired our drinks with the Italian Bean Dip to start which was so yummy! For dinner, I ordered a side of Tuscan Kale Salad that I split with a friend as well as the Vodka Pasta (I added shredded chicken-definitely recommend). Everything I had was phenomenal! Don't get me wrong, the food here is DELICIOUS! But the service... I picked up take-out and, upon arriving to pay and pick up the food, the waiter gave me the stink eye for looking at the bill prior to handing him my credit card. Not sure what that was about because it's standard practice in case someone made a mistake - which can happen from time to time. In fact, on that point, I didn't check the food in the bags and headed home. Only to find out, once arriving home, that one of the entrees was missing. Ok, well, shame on me for not checking. ... And shame on them. But it happens. Upon returning to pick up the missing food item it became blatantly obvious that the manager is a rookie when it comes to the POS system. Instead of simply removing the dish from the bill, he refunded the entire bill and then recharged it without the item. I suppose this isn't a problem except that we split the bill across two cards (again, common practice these days) and he recharged the entire bill to only one... On top of that, the incorrect amount was recharged. These are simple things to mess up and it gives me pause when considering ordering take-out in the future. read more

Rushed and herded. So disappointed. I loved this restaurant and supported them through the peek of COVID with tent dining and take out. When they had limited seating, they implemented a time on your table - 1 1/2 hrs. Totally understood. Now that they are at full capacity they told us they were keeping that rule. We felt rushed. Service deteriorated towards the end of our meal as they were trying to herd us out, and they shortened the pour on our 2nd glass of wine to speed things up. They're always busy and the wait is wild; I've been trying to go for weeks! If I had to nitpick one thing, it'd be that the crabcake was a bit too crisp and dark than I'm used to and some patrons were a bit obnoxious about their volume (not the restaurant's fault). Honestly I am jaded by the great food in Chicago and did not have the highest of expectations for Fire + Wine out in the suburbs but I was very surprised and greatly pleased with the food and overall experience. I came with a larger group so was able to try a bunch of different apps before getting my meal Apps Arancini Mozzarella - AWESOME! These are soooo good you have to give them a try (oh yeah we even got a second order they were so good) Zucchini Fries - Yummy, really enjoyed these Meatball Sliders - Very tasty Main Dish Vodka Pasta with a meatball - I loved this dish and would get it again every time I come back. The sauce was great and the noodles were done perfectly. The food here was great and our server was hilarious. I really enjoyed this place and am looking forward to a return visit.
