I've been eating at this restaurant for years! They have the best food and best staff! They are always accommodating to me and my order. They're Kung pow chicken and Island Fried rice is the best in town! Everyone is so friendly there and are ready to take care of you and your needs. Also my Boyfriend has a gluten allergy and he is able to eat there thanks to the many options they have there that are gluten free. Really love this place! read more

Decided to give this place a try even though as soon as I walked in didn't have a great impression. We ordered the miso noodles, create your own stir fry and spring rolls...the food bar looked as though the food had sat out all day with no cooling, spring rolls were served refried, meat tasted off, and the place was fairly dirty. I have been here previously, and it hasn't been as bad as it was today. The tables and seats were dirty, fountain drink machine didn't have their syrups calibrated. Came in to this place on a whim and boy was it a mistake. The girl at the front register must've recently been hit in the head, she asked us if we wanted dine-in or to-go like three times. She also barely spoke above a whisper and having her repeat things was a painful experience. After we ordered we went back to the seating are and out of the three booths they have two of them were covered with dirty dishes from previous customers. We settled at a two-top at the back of the restaurant, and while the table itself wasn't dirty, the kind of linoleum or whatever that laminates the wood makes it feel tacky to the touch. Another group of customers who arrived after us mentioned to one of the workers that they wanted to sit in one of the dirty booths, it took them a solid five minutes to even come over to clean the table for these folks and their baby. We waited an average amount of time for our food. My mom's food was completely overcooked and completely flavorless (pan fried noodles). My orange chicken was alright, the sauce was good, but some of the pieces were way over cooked. Overall would not wish this place on my worst enemy. Taylor has horrible customer service skills. I called to place an order for pick up at 9:43. She sighed and reminded me they close at 10. She then told me just hold on. I placed my order with her and she again said we close at 10 and our registers will be closed. I never said I wasn't able to make it by 10. If you're open until 10, you should offer your services until 10. I'll take my business elsewhere and Taylor you need to sharpen up your customer service skills if you plan to work with the public. Really not for me. Everything was overly sauced. They even put a thick sweet sauce in my broth soup. The ingredients were fresh which is great but the sauces on every dish was too sweet and over powering. Had an issue with getting a clean extra bowl but the staff brought on to my table after I had gone up twice and gave up so bonus points for that. It's overall a nice place, the staff was pretty good which is hard to find in San Antonio. In the end it's a chain and you basically get Asian-like fast food. read more

Fire Wok is simply the best fast fresh delicious Asian option in San Antonio. I have a buddy that hates Asian food. Took him here and he loved everything he tried. My favorite is the Chicken Fried Rice. Special orders are no big deal -I ask for peanut oil instead of canola and they happily oblige. And it's a family owned and operated business which is why I think the food is so good. The daily lunch specials are awesome too. You can get a drink, egg roll, and daily special for like $5.99. And they deliver to me in Crown Ridge! That has to be the very best part. read more

This is an informal post that I'm copying and pasting from an account I have elsewhere. The Fire Wok by the movie theater is my favorite place to eat. My parents will never understand that my sesame-chicken-with-lo-mein-noodles-and-a-glass-of-water-with-a-straw is not junk. It's best when eaten at the restaurant, preferably in a booth close to the drink dispensers and chopsticks and stuff, but anywhere is fine. They always advertise comic con, so they're automatically cool; this September is ninja turtles, by the way. Then there's that whole Switched at Birth thing they have that's all intense and stuff. There's also an infinite number of fortune cookies by the chopsticks so I plan on eating there every Saturday minus the month before finals... but first I need to be able to drive legally without my parents... and be in college so I can have the freedom to schedule stuff... I'm not sure why I'm posting this, but it's good food omg read more

This place is amazing! Come in for the Cool Lettuce Wraps and stay for the Peking Fire Shrimp. The whole staff is awesome and will make you feel at home. I have always loved Fire Wok but due to my gluten allergy I unfortunately can't afford to eat there anymore. The past two times I have eaten there and ordered gluten free, I have played extensively by hours missed from work and illness at home means time away from loved ones and missed things that need to done because I'm stuck sick in bed for several days. I'm not sure if regular soy sauce was used in preparation for my meal or if it is simply a cross-contamination issue. Until this issue is addressed or my allergy magically goes away I won't be back anytime soon. For those of you with Celiac or Gluten Allergies/Sensitivity you've been warned. Other than that the food is ALWAYS delicious and I always get quick and friendly service. I'm very saddened that I can't eat there anymore. read more

Never go there without a coupon. I believe if you check in with Facebook, they offer a free appetizer. They offer an extensive menu. They even have a stir fry bar were you can gather your own items and sauces. You have to stand in line and order your meal. They give you cups to get your own beverages with have free refills. Then they bring the food out to you. The food is absolutely delicious and filling. They serve large portions, so expect left overs or you can share. The orange chicken and sweet and sour pork is good. I am partial more to the fried rices rather than the noodles. read more

Ordered sesame chicken and was so disappointed, this is far from being any kind of Asian food, even in America. I asked for a refund (my dish was so bad I didn't even want to try anything else) but they "no longer offered refunds". I figured after over hearing an employee explain to a man on the phone how another San Antonio Fire Wok location had closed. I ended up exchanging for Pad Thai and flavoring it up myself at home, since I didn't want to be "credited for later" (not going back). While we're basking in the aura of the rude emo queen I happen to notice that both cooks aren't cooking, instead texting or bookfacing on their mobile devices. Then the food sucked. And when I say sucked, I mean SUCKED. The wonton seemed to be leftover from yesterday and the dishes were unedible. Two hours after I made my order, I call the place. No answer, I continue to call. When I get a call back, I am told the delivery guy "cannot find my place." I give great directions and continue to ask where he is, but they are unable to give me a building number or description. I am told to "stay put" and he will find me. I wait another 20 minutes and they don't answer their phone. When they finally do, I am told that the delivery guy is waiting in the front for me. I drive to the front and cannot find him. Since they won't answer their phones, I drive to the apartment complex a half mile away and find him at the front building. 2 Items in my order were missing and when I called, they said it was too late and they won't bring them to me. I asked for a refund for the Items and was told "we can put your name in our book" and that way when you call next time we will give them to you.... Food was a 5/10, not great, not terrible. It was cold of course, and they try to skimp by adding the rice to the entree. DO NOT ORDER FROM THESE PEOPLE. Service might be better at the restaurant itself, but I have never dined there. read more

Most online reviews are either in the "love it" or "hate it" category. Because of this, I don't often write reviews. However, I felt compelled to write a review of my experience at Fire Wok. We ate there around 1:30 pm on a Sunday and it was moderately busy. We were greeted nicely right away and the order taker waited patiently to help us order. Initial experience was good. The food arrived quickly and was VERY hot. So far, so good. This is when it started to go downhill. As I looked everywhere around me, the cleanliness of the restaurant was not good. All of the open tables looked like they had been wiped (if at all) with a greasy, food stained cloth. Three chairs that I started to sit in had food or other spills in them. The drink station was also very unclean. The bins that stored the silverware were not clean, and the silverware was suspect. All of this certainly negatively affected my appetite. BTW, very little affects my appetite in a negative way. Lastly, the food was average. I had a noodle bowl. The vegetables and other items were properly cooked, but the lo mein noodles were a soggy, limp, doughy mess. Very disappointing. I tried to soldier on, but only made it about 1/4 of the way in before I had to stop, close my eyes, and go to my happy place. Overall -- Staff 4 stars. Cleanliness 1 star (only because the bathroom was fine). Food 2.5 stars. Value 2.5 stars ($23 bucks for two people for lunch) I won't be going back to this location. read more
