My wife and I and another couple ate here for the first time in many years before seeing a movie at the Herbert Oaks Theatre. We have been missing out! First impressions of this place were the people. Very friendly, very welcoming. After we ordered and made our way to the table, we were a little bit, disappointed about the restaurant being a little bit dirty, but as we got our drinks, one of the employees mentioned that a child had been in that area and had made a mess and he very readily and quickly did a quick cleanup, which was very nice to see. The staff here is amazingly friendly, and the food was on point! We had the fried potstickers and my chicken pad. Thai was delicious! In a word... Meh. First time visit via GrubHub delivery service! Ordered the chow fun with beef: I grew up eating chow fun in the Hawaiian islands, it's an okazuya staple and similar to the ice cream trucks of your childhood, every neighborhood I lived in had a "manapua man". This dude, usually an old Asian man, drove his beat up van around town making numerous stops at the sight of screaming barefoot children. I was one of them. Chow fun and chow mein noodles were always on the menu, along with candy and oh! cigarettes- if you knew the secret code word. Lol! But I digress. The noodles from this establishment did not meet the nostalgic delight of my street noodles. Nope. Not very flavorful, it's like they only used salt and soy sauce to flavor this dish. The large, flat rice noodles stuck together and was difficult to eat. The beef was tender but I just couldn't eat the dish. I ended up taking 4 forced bites then threw it away. Ordered the won ton soup, too. The soup did not come hot, not like the broth that comes with take out pho from those joints. But the won ton were HUGE! See photo. Sadly, these were also not delicious at all. I did enjoy the broth so I slurped that up and threw out the 2 won tons. AND I ate up all the fried won ton strips that came as a side condiment. The edamame I also ordered was canceled by the business as they probably could not fill the order. No bueno. Also would've been nice to have chopsticks and hot sauce with my order. But oh well. I have reviewed this restaurant almost a year ago. I go back every other month and today was the day. I'm all in on their version of Singapore noodles with shrimp! It's such a simple dish but if you cook it yourself, it is a big hassle! So, I take a detour from I-10 west and head to Huebner Oaks. The food is always delicious and hot! Service is fast and friendly. The lady that takes the orders is so friendly, she wanted to share my noodles with me! The place was not busy when I went to order. It was after the lunch crowd has dissipated. The ambiance is quiet and just the busy noise of the kitchen crew making to go meals and diners like me. I love this place. I met 2 new friends for lunch last Friday. Since we were going to the Regal Huebner Oaks movie theater to watch "Chosen," I suggested either @salata or @firewok. My friend, Ana, was good with @firewok. It's a simple Asian/Chinese restaurant where you order at the counter, take a number, and they serve food at your table. I ordered the Lemon Fish, which was tasty and just the right amount of food. Ana had the Teriyaki Bowl and Julie had the General Tso's dish. We all were happy with the proteins. Great lunch spot! I've been here a couple times - once with coworkers and most recently with my boyfriend, both times for lunch during the week. There is a decent amount of space, and they're quick to get tables clean during the lunch rush. It's a good space, not too crowded, really casual. The levers on the soda machine were broken for a couple of the drink options. I've had the chow fun, pad Thai, and spring rolls, and what I will say is that while the food is great seasoning wise, the trend I've noticed is that the noodles feel a little undercooked for my taste - not hard, but definitely not the soft super cooked texture I would prefer. I think it might just be cranking the food out for speed. However, nothing egregious - good lunch, and I will definitely be around more often! read more

I walked inside and didn't know how the system was. I saw two registers but walked to the TO Go section and was greeted by a warm welcome lady who took my order. I had questions about the ingredients on one of the dishes and she explained. I made my order and she gave me the cup for my drink and said it would be 15 minutes. My food was given to me HOT Fresh and it was delicious. I'm not from SA, but would definitely recommend this little place to anyone wanting the Asian cafe experience. The plate is well made considering the flavor and not so oily fried rice compliment the exotic flavor of kungpao sauce. If I had the time and stomach.
