I like Fire Wok, I've been here twice so far and both times the service and food were excellent. I don't know why, but when it comes to Americanized Chinese food, the only dish that I ever crave is lemon chicken and nothing else. I love lemon chicken so much that I recently discovered lemon sauce packets at Central Market and have been trying ('trying' being the operative word) to satisfy my cravings at home instead! Their chicken breast is surprisingly succulent and the breading is always tasty and crispy. The lemon sauce is quite good and their fried rice is always cooked well. As for their eggrolls, they are pretty standard, and the rangoons are good albeit sheisty when it comes to the "crabmeat." At just under $6 bucks for lunch that includes a drink, there is sure to be something on their menu that will satisfy you. They change their lunch specials daily, but the lemon chicken is there everyday of the week. Coincidence? I think not! read more

I've only had the build-your-own option and have not tried any of their dishes. Below is my input based on the build-your-own meal. PROS: I used to frequent Mongolian restaurants in California and miss Mongolian food. Even though this place is greatly Americanized, it is still the closest that I have found to the Mongolian food I was used to eating while in San Antonio. Also, the portions are big (especially when you realize that you are only loading up on vegetables and sauces and that they will add meat and noodles to your bowl CONS: I find it funny that people keep describing the food as "fresh" because it didn't look too fresh to me -- or maybe the restaurant just needs to take more care to make sure that the vegetables remain hydrated. The carrots were limp carrots and the green beans were dried up. Other vegetables also looked as if they had been sitting out for awhile. The place is decorated with large cans of vegetables (such as baby corn and water chestnuts) evenly spaced out on shelves. I don't see what's so fresh about that. ODDITIES: Hot oil is one of the option choices but, otherwise, nothing else is offered on the vegetable line that offers any kick. In attempt to spice things up, I usually have to run over to a nearby table and squeeze chili sauce on my bowl before handing it to the cook. They seem to frown upon that but I don't care. I want it spicy, darn it! Also, the employees stress the need for 3 ladles of sauce (no more, no less) but the thickness in cut of many of the vegetables may cause for a need for more than the recommended nunber of ladles of sauce. Also, they have several varieties of mushroom which I found especially odd. I mean, with only about 15 options to choose from, they're going to make about 4 of them mushroom? Strange. . . SERVICE: Awesome. The staff is really nice and attentive here. OTHER: After reading the other reviews, I'm now curious about the fried rice and lucnh special. I think I'll try that one day and change my review accordingly. read more

This was my first time dining at a Fire Wok. For my first time I was pretty impress. My food was hot, fresh, and delicious. Their menu is diverse and had a lot of good things that caught my eye for a picker eater like myself. For it to be what I would considered semi fast food, they blew my expectations right out of the water. I am definitely coming back. read more

Came here on Friday 8/3/18 at noon and I will NEVER be coming back. There was MOLD....Black MOLD in the pea pods. The veggies were so GROSS. The floors were filthy and the rest room was disgusting. I think the health department needs to pay a visit SOON. read more

With the nearby Pei Wei going to the wayside, I've officially relocated my go-to take out place to Fire Wok. I've been here several times and yet I've always gotten the Sizzling Pan Fried Noodles with vegetables. Despite telling myself to order something different whenever I walk in, I always end up with that; it's that tasty! Someday I'll venture to other parts of the menu, because almost everything honestly sounds good, but for now that dish is all I need. They also have a make your own dish kind of bar that looks promising. The staff is always friendly and accommodating and the food comes out super quickly. It's a little oily but it tastes so good that you most likely won't notice/care until later, and the portions are so large that I often take home almost as much as I ate. The dining area has always been clean when I've eaten here and they have lots of different beverage options like Mexican coke and several varieties of tea. The prices are super fair, too. If you're in need of a quick fix of Americanized Chinese food, I think Fire Wok will do the job just fine. read more

This location used to be this great restaurant called Maui Tacos that sadly, no longer exists. So, I was sad, but willing to give Fire Wok a shot. Yay, this place rocks! When you first walk in, there is a huge menu on the wall that is a bit daunting. The options are crazy! You can either go with something that's already on the menu or you can go stir crazy and make your own creation. The prices are great and you don't have to worry about having to tip a waiter since you order at a counter. Went out to the movies and after we end up going here for my birthday party. Instead of just telling us it was close to closing they instead let us order and give everyone half-fasted meals. I ordered a Pad Thai. What I got was brown noodles soak in soy sauce with some veggies and few crushed peanuts. I had to stop eating it got a sodium headache and my cheeks turned bright red. We were only there for 10mins when we were told to leave. Most of the group just left there food didn't enjoy the quality of food. Not a good experience, never going back, and don't recommend the food. We could of went somewhere else instead. read more

It's basically a mall food court generic Chinese place, but not in a mall. Patrons get a ton of mediocre food for not much money, so that's a plus. They have a rotating lunch special menu that's like six bucks for an entree, rice choice, egg roll, and a pop. None of the options are especially tasty, and I'm pretty sure most of the food comes from a warming tray rather than straight from a wok, but you're probably in a hurry and won't mind. So if you're really hungry and are kindof light in the wallet that day, you could make worse choices. read more

General bad business practices. I ordered a dish Island Rice with beef that turned out to taste very bad. When I tried to get another dish I was told I had to pay full price for it. I've never been treated this way at any restaurant. I literally took one bite of food. In addition the beef looked very grayish. The manager said the owner makes up this rule. This was a horrible experience. The food was ok. We ordered sesame chicken, sweet & sour chicken, fried rice, egg rolls, egg drop soup and crab & cheese wontons. The fried rice was hard and not thoroughly cooked. The sesame chicken wasn't terrible but it was seasoned strange. The sweet & sour chicken was good. The egg drop soup was very good, even though the "to-go' container gave it a weird smell. The egg rolls melted the container they were in and were burnt. The wontons had a mainly cream cheese taste but were tasty although they were greasy. This place is nice but not perfect. I've been eyeballing this restaurant every time I go to the movie theater and finally went there today. Super disappointed!! :( I was going there in hopes to create my own bowl and have it cooked but after seeing the sorry choices I figured I should order off the menu which has a good variety of choices. What I hated most was the rice. I ordered brown and my husband had white. Both equally gross and looked/tasted like microwaveable minute rice. The good: They serve tofu and it was alright. As stated in other reviews, the place is really dirty. It doesn't seem like they clean the tables at all when a customer leaves. You can see old rice below the tables that has never been swept up. To me, the food is sort of like a fast-food version of Golden Wok. The egg drop soup didn't have much flavor, the lemon chicken and fried rice were good, the egg roll reminded me of the frozen ones you get at a grocery store, and the sweet tea tasted like it was made from a powder mix. I'm going to be really fair here mainly due to the consistent quality and service I've received from Fire Wok for years. The food has always been and continuous to be extremely delicious for the cost which makes going here for Chinese a no-brainier. As long as you stay away from certain dishes, you will find the flavor to be on par with Golden Wok. Some dishes to stay away from: beef and broccoli or anything with the skirt steak in it. Not that it's bad, just not unique or great for that matter. The lemon chicken is delicious. The chow fun bowl is full of flavor...and grease so if you have a queasy stomach, skip it. My ultimate recommendation is to order one of the fried rice entrees. I'm not a vegetarian by any means however, stick with the vegetable fried rice or island fried rice. Both are superb. Lastly, my beef with Fire Wok (pun intended) is with the delivery service. For the time they have had a delivery service, it hasn't been extremely expedient but I got my meal within 45 minutes on a consistent basis. The past two delivery orders have been terrible. The first, never arrived and after calling 3x and 1.5 hours later, had them make a fresh order which I picked up. The second time, the order was about 1.5 hours from order to deliver time and cold. Fire Wok is on the decline but still hanging by a thread in my book. read more

Took staff over 5 minutes to find clean bowls, as everything else they had in the stack was the same. The tables, counters, floors are all dirty. Food itself is average at best. Too saucy.
