I was super excited to try this place because my partner recommended it to me. The atmosphere and environment is very nice. It is nicely decorated and has good views. It is located along the river so it is perfect if you want to sit outside in the summer. The staff was kind and attentive. They answered all the questions I had and provided us with recommendations. Never been here before but the wife and we're looking to spend $100 somewhere and pig out. Chose firefly because the locals said it was good food and service. It surely was. The staff could have been a little more formal personally but they were good I just think the atmosphere called for a little more formality. I kinda got a California modern bar vibe here. The food was amazing we order the potstickers which were really good! And 4 sushi rolls, which were dragon roll, Fishtown roll, Soi Chino and crunchy shrimp roll, all were amazing. The fish tacos were really good! The lettuce wraps my wife had she said they were basic but presentation was on point, and my burger didn't stand out to me as one of the best. It was good but not the best. Above all the temperature and the atmosphere here was on point and what stood out to me honestly, the historic pieces inside and the vibes purple and oranges were really calming to have while eating. 5 outta 5 love this place will come back Kira was our waitress and she was great, would ask for her if I'm going to eat here! read more

Cool atmosphere-- very open concept layout with couches as well as tables and chairs. Fun light fixtures and different activities (giant jenga, air hockey etc) and there are 2 bars. The food is a fusion of Asian cuisine with just about every other kind of cuisine. The hummus and pita is a really popular appetizer. The food we tried that was delicious: - fried pickles, they come in an egg roll wrap with ham and cheese (our table actually ordered more of these after they finished the first order-- it's 4 pieces) - steak nachos (with mozzarella cheese, radishes, green onions and steak) - steak and sweet potato skewers (PHENOMENAL SWEET POTATO FRIES) - lettuce wraps (not like PF Chang's good, but still yummy) - macaroni and cheese (veryyyyy rich) - fish tacos The drinks are really yummy, especially the strawberry basil vodka lemonade! My 2 complaints: pretty overpriced for what you're getting-- slightly fancier bar food. And the service was really slow. Friendly service, but we were there for 2.5 hours, which seemed a little absurd to us. Food was over priced for what you got. Ordered the flank steak and got 3 normal slices and 2 half slices of steak all for 21 buck. Not worth it. The wine tasted great but had a dirty glass smell. Worth the hype! I honestly had low expectations of this restaurant, thinking it would be overhyped but it's actually really good & cost effective. So many restaurants in Traverse City are over priced & the food is not great which is so disappointing. We ate here during the Cherry Festival so most restaurants were extremely busy but the wait wasn't too bad here, we were seated right away. Nice location on the river with an option to eat outside by the river, we ate inside due to rain. The menu is a mix of bar food & Asian-inspired with burgers, steak, seafood, stir-fry & sushi. The truffle fries were the best I've ever had, hands down everyone's fav item at the table, we even took an order to-go. One of the best chicken sandwiches I've had, which is saying a lot considering that's one of my go-to's at restaurants like this but they are all usually very similar. The tuna nachos were a "work of art", they were as good as they looked. Sushi & fish tacos were great. All around a great experience so glad we stopped here, will definitely return! Such a beautiful spot, updated and clean inside or quaint/peaceful outdoor setting along the River. Unfortunate I'm sure with the road/bridge construction or whatever but hopefully it wraps up quickly and don't let that deter you from a delicious meal. We had Dan as our server and he was great! Friendly and professional: inquired about our little boys, gave us specials and menu recommendations and was quick to accommodate our requests. Put us at ease throughout! The food was phenomenal! We started with a California roll, my wife ordered the Turkey pesto sandwich and I ordered the steak udon stir Fry. The stir fry's are one of their best sellers and it's no surprise why; my bowl was delicious and so incredibly flavorful. I overheard and saw many patrons ordering them too. My wife's sandwich was large and filling too. Such great value, and a perfect last meal before heading home from our vacation. Wish we would have stopped in sooner we might have gone back again. The Menu had a lot of variety and even offered sushi. I placed a takeout order online and for my entree, I ordered the Bang Bang Chicken Stir Fry, but to my surprise, no veggies and NO CHICKEN!!! I actually received popcorn shrimp in the bang bang sauce, which I didn't even know was an option because this was not listed anywhere on the menu. I love this place continuously over the past few years. I've never had a bad experience here. A couple years back a big group of us around 20 came in after a friends funeral and we were sat right away and they brought us drinks and apps all happy hour. Our server was great and very sympathetic. Most recently I visited with my sister and I had the best spinach artichoke dip of my life. My sister didn't want any and I had planned on taking some home but it never made it. I love the crunchy pita and I swear it's the only place that has an actual creamy dip with an actual decent amount of artichokes in it. The shaved parm on top is the best! I've had numerous salads and all of them have been delicious. Numerous servers and all of them have been quick, kind and on the ball! A must stop place in TC. read more

Our first time back in several years and left us asking why it's been so long!!! Easy parking right out front (just remember change for the meter). This restaurant specializes in small plates but also has amazing sushi and entrees as well. We had the pita and hummus.....a long-standing item from their menu but it is sooooo good. The pita chips are home made and so delicious with their garlic hummus. This is a MUST if you come here. Seriously don't miss this!!! Then we had the tuna "nachos". Oh. My. Word. AMAZING!!! Just these two items filled us up. Of course we had to have a craft cocktail to wash it down!! I had an espresso martini.....and I am an espresso martini snob. This was one of the best I've ever had. My husband had a "firefly" which was also delicious! This restaurant is not on front street but up just a couple of streets on Cass so I think it is often overlooked. Don't miss dining here because of that. It's back in our rotation for sure!! My family and I had an incredible experience at Firefly! We walked in off the street on a busy night and were seated right away. Kelsey was our server and was friendly, personable, and prompt. We ordered the Spicy tuna roll, the Philly roll, the southwest salad, and the pulled pork sandwich, and all of our entrees exceeded our expectations. Every time we come to Traverse City we make a stop at Firefly, sometimes just for cocktails, sometimes for cocktails and appetizers, or cocktails and dinner. This place has an awesome view of the river, so we like to sit outside in the summer and enjoy the view. The patio is first come, first serve, even if you make reservations, there is no guarantee you will get seated on the patio. But the good thing is that the inside of this restaurant has a really cool ambiance and new and fresh decor. So sitting inside isn't bad either. Every time we've had food here, it's been great. I've had the sushi last time and it was super fresh. This past visit, i ordered the special ($22), Sockeye Salmon glazed in sweet thai chili sauce, with pineapple fried rice and broccoli. It was SO good. I'm not a huge salmon fan, but for some reason this special sounded really good, so i went with it! And am i glad i did. Again, the salmon was super fresh, the glaze was just right, it wasn't too much or too little. And the pineapple fried rice, OMG ! I could've ordered just that for dinner!!! I ordered the Blackberry Bramble - is Bombay Sapphire Gin, Lemon Juice, Simple Syrup and Creme de Mure. It came with a few blackberries in it, and it was SO good. This place is very reasonably priced, the view is amazing, the decor is fantastic, the service has always been above average, and the food is absolutely delicious! read more

There was a second bar off to the rear, but it wasn't operating at the time. We ordered the sesame chicken and broccoli (per the waitress' suggestion) and the steak udon bowl. Both were very good and loaded with flavor. The udon bowl didn't look like a large volume of food at first, but it was dense and filled me quickly.
