Terrific tender tasty BBQ. Busy, Fast. Our friends were scattered all day in smaller groups, and weather was iffy for an evening outdoor concert, so 8 of us (and half the people visiting West Yellowstone) decided to try fire whole barbecue for dinner. (Jul 2026) The restaurant's parking lot felt crowded, but we found a space halfway back. Plus, there's parking on the street. Really, everything is close in West Yellowstone, so some of us just walked over from our lodging. At 6:30 PM on a Saturday (July 2026), the line was all the way from the counter to the door, and it seemed like every indoor seat was taken! The moment we saw one of the tables start to leave, some of us landed at it , so pretty quickly half of us had a place. Then through an indoor window, we saw people leaving the enclosed side patio. Bingo! Yahtzee! As a table for six cleared, we noticed the adjacent table was also close to finishing and in a moment, we had two end-to-end picnic tables, enough for our entire party to sit together! This was good timing, because in those few minutes the outer lobby had filled with people waiting in line and the outside tables of 4 or six were also nearly full. Among us all, we had almost everything on the menu: pork ribs, bbq chicken, beef, brisket, pulled-pork, coleslaw, potato salad, mac and cheese, beans, corn on the cob, thick fries. All of meats were tender and juicy, full of their own flavor and well seasoned with perfect smoky slightly-sweet sauce. All of the sides had the right amount of bait and the right amount of tenderness, nicely, salted, and seasoned in flavoring, not overly-seasoned. The tables had at least two kinds of barbecue sauce, plus your ketchup and mustard. This was mighty fine barbecue, smoked in-house daily! Every one of us found a dish that we wanted and loved. And in a town full of kitschy western themes, this place was the real deal. Sure, a wood cabin look, picnic tables, and walls full of decor. But not overly new and polished. This felt like the real thing. This is a live, real, every day BBQ. And it was right across the street from the park where there was a free concert that evening! Great BBQ spot in West Yellowstone! This place is really popular - there was a line out the door at 6:45pm but it moved pretty quickly. Some items started selling out around 7:00pm. We got the brisket, pork ribs, loaded baked potato, and mac n cheese. Everything was great - the brisket was juicy, except for two pieces that were dry. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, and the loaded baked potato was soft, buttery, and delicious. The BBQ sauce was amazing. Service was friendly & efficient. We had a bachelorette party traveling in and on our way back from Yellowstone, we found Firehole Bar-B-Que as an option for lunch before heading all the way back to Big Sky. - PARKING - There's a few spots in the u-shaped turn in that is around the building. - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - You order first and then grab a seat - we didn't have to wait long in the line. You walk up to the counter and let the staff know your order and they build out your platter in front of you. There are some tables in the first room, and then a slightly expanded dining space in the second room. The owner came by to thank us for coming in and asked if we enjoyed our food which was very pleasant! - FOOD - Brisket: Overall the flavor is great! Nice seasoning on the crust, but we did ask for fatty brisket and some parts were dry. Mac n Cheese: Nice creaminess and cheesiness but the pasta was a bit mushy and overcooked. We decided to try a pound of brisket, a pound of smoked chicken and a couple of buffalo sausages. Overall I feel three stars is a fair yelp rating. The brisket was good, but the chicken was very dry and the sausage was ok. Everything tasted very salty. The mac and cheese and even the pickles were very salty. Finally drove by when there was little to no line/wait. Ordered two brisket sandwiches and a large tub of the pinto beans. Our order was to go and we planned on eating inside Yellowstone (Barns Hole Road on the Madison River). Staff were extremely polite and engaging. Grabbed our order and peddled down to the river. The pinto beans were still piping hot; so we needed this to cool before digging in. But, that gave us time to enjoy our sandwiches. Delicious. When we finally tucked into the pinto beans, we discovered more chunks of brisket than beans! Very pleased and surprised. Also, excellent flavor (and we live near Austin Texas during the off season and know BBQ). Our kids have been here numerous times and speak highly of their food. Ran out of literally everything by the time we sat down. As we stood in line, the only meat remaining that was still available was the brisket. What luck! The juicy brisket was perfectly cooked and so moist, tender and delicious. It was quite possibly the best I've ever had... and I love barbecue. They do their smoking/cooking during the day and stay open until it runs out. It was a very popular place obviously and so glad we came across it on Yelp on our wonderful trip to the national parks. We ended our Yellowstone trip on a high note! The restaurant uses paper and plastic (so clean up is easy) and a lot is self serve such as utensils, napkins, water ... but that didn't affect the quality of the food. Adding lots of photos as well. This place is absolutely to die for- best pulled pork anywhere in Yellowstone/montana/Wyoming area (we went to at least 5 and tried the pulled pork sandwhich everywhere. This one doesn't even need sauce it's so flipping good. There was a line out the door but they are quick and efficient and we were able to sit outside and enjoy our meal with our baby. My husband loved the half rack of ribs and we both loved the Mac and cheese and coleslaw. Would LOVE to come back here. Imo this is the BEST bbq food read more

Great Bbq -both the brisket and pork were juicy and smoky and delicious!! My loaded baked potato was huge and baked to soft goodness's and topped with butter and cheese and sour cream and chives (and pork!!). It's a small spot with styrofoam for the food, but it makes up for that with wonderful meat! Great place to eat! read more

Had time for one meal in West Yellowstone and this was the spot that locals rec'd the most Their menu is pretty small but tbh that was lowkey refreshing and a good sign bc that prob means they're going for quality over quantity. The primary protein options were brisket, turkey (which they were sold out of), pulled pork, and ribs. I wasn't too hungry so I opted for a brisket sandwich and also decided to try their bison links bc why not. Now w the brisket sandwich they give you the option to choose "juicy" or "lean" meat... shooot you know I had to go w that juicy juicy. Onions, pickles, and bbq sauce were free options on da side, as well. The verdict on the juicy brisket tho? Ok tbh it was good, not amazing haha. I've def had better brisket even back home in Seattle. It coulda used a stronger rub and I wish it had a stronger, smokier taste to it. I saturated that bad boy in bbq sauce to compensate tho. We've been trying to eat here for years during our visits to Big Sky. We've either been here too early (they don't open till noon) or too late (they close when they run out of BBQ). Today we waited for them to open and it was worth it. We had the bison sausage, brisket, corn salad and mac-n-cheese. We tried the sausage out of curiosity and while flavorful, I don't think bison is our jam. The brisket was AMAZING! Tender and full of flavor. It was good on its own but the BBQ sauces were good with it as well. The hot BBQ sauce had a bite to it - mixing the two together was perfect for me. I never had corn salad before and was surprised how tasty it was. The mac-n-cheese was really good and a perfect accompaniment to our meal! In a town besieged by so many mom and pop restaurants, one place stands alone ....I hope you read that in the 90s voiceover I intended it to be because this place is truly summer blockbuster worthy epic. I'm not going to wax poetic about the food, I'm just going to give you some advice.... Get a pound of everything. Add in the buffalo sausage link. Get extra pickles. Add Mac and cheese. Get the cole slaw. Add 3 cobblers (there was the most amazing, lightly vanilla, juicy peach cobbler when I went and I will dream about that perfectly balanced sweet and just ever so slightly tart cakey goodness) you won't be sad. Long story short- this place knows BBQ and this place is goooooood. Get there at noon when they open. Don't complain if you can't get a seat or they're sold out of something. My husband and I got here around 6:30 on a weeknight, and not only they were already out of baked potatoes, their seating was completely full. How good is their food? You'll need to get here early to find out!! We both got pulled pork sandwiches with sauce on the side, and a small side to go. The spicy sauce is not habanero hot, but medium spicy, and very flavorful. The portion size was good, and the happiest part for me was that the cole slaw was on point. You know that cole slaw that you're gonna end up throwing away after a single bite because it's soggy or too vinegary? That ain't this! Crisp and lightly sweet, super fresh, and delicious. I was not disappointed! Hubby reports that the mac & cheese was good as well. Enter and line up to the left to order. Menu boards are on the wall so you can peruse what's not yet sold out while you're in line. The limited menu means they do a few good things really, really well. Indoor seating is a bit cramped, but clean. Service is quick and friendly. Can't ask for anything more from a barbecue joint than that! The number of reviews they've gotten on Yelp look like they outnumber those of any other restaurant in town. And while many of the business owners here seem to work together to support each other's efforts, this was the only restaurant suggestion I got without even asking. We were visiting Yellowstone and honestly didn't have high expectations for finding great BBQ in the area, but Firehole Bar-B-Que turned out to be an absolute hidden gem! We ordered a half pound of brisket, a full rack of ribs, and 6 oz of coleslaw for dinner, and everything was absolutely delicious. The brisket was incredibly tender, juicy, and packed with smoky flavor. The ribs were perfectly cooked, flavorful, and so tender. Even the coleslaw was fresh and paired perfectly with the meat. Finding a place this good while traveling was such a pleasant surprise. This was easily one of the best meals of our Yellowstone trip and some of the best BBQ I've had in a long time. Amazing!! Beyond mouth-watering! The bbq pork ribs were incredible, fall off the bone delicious. The cole slaw was outstanding as was the Mac n cheese' was absolutely delicious. We arrived just as a young woman posted a sign about peach cobbler being available. She'd just taken it out of the oven. We knew we were added peach cobbler to our order and we are really glad we did. We definitely plan to come back here before we leave. The best bbq ribs and bbq sauce ever. It's their own bbq sauce, they smoke their meats on site and serve until they run out for the day. Totally fresh meats and sides they have every right to brag about. Walked in for dinner get in line to order, pay and take to your seat. Restaurant is small but clean. Food is served in to go containers. We ordered a full rack of pork ribs and quarter pound of brisket. Ribs very tasty falling off the bone. Brisket lean and most. Cole slaw was creamy however the beans were not my favorite. I guess it's a matter of taste. I like baked beans. I did feel the meats could use more sauce the sauce in the table was more of a vinegar based and I'm use to a more sweeter sauce. Avoid this place. Absolute chaos and unprofessional staff. This is hands down the worst place in West Yellowstone. The service here is a complete joke. We ordered a pound of brisket and a buffalo link. The guy cutting the meat was great--he took our order, cut it, and boxed it up. But the second we moved down the line to get sides and pay, everything went downhill. The staff completely lost track of our food and gave our entire order to the customers ahead of us (who walked away with way more food than they paid for). When we pointed this out, the staff just stared at each other blankly. Instead of doing her job, the cashier was completely checked out, gossiping with the previous customer about whether she was Russian or Romanian. To make it worse, they tried to gaslight us and blame us, claiming we never ordered meat in the first place. Then an older woman (who seemed clueless about what was happening) stepped in, caught a terrible attitude, and kept repeating that they were out of meat and that we hadn't ordered any. The only decent person was the original meat-cutter. He genuinely tried to fix the situation, but by then it was too late because they were completely out of food. This place clearly doesn't care about customer service because they know tourist traffic will keep them busy anyway. Unless they fire the current staff--especially that older lady--and hire people who actually know how to do their jobs, stay far away. There are way better options in town. read more

I will have to agree this is the best bbq in town. Line was out the door but moving fast. It is closed 10pm or until sold out and I can see them selling out. For variety we got 1/2 lb brisket and 1/2 lb pork ribs. Both were nicely smoked. Bbq sauce was tasty, especially the hot one. I prefer the lean brisket (they ask if you want lean or marble) because it does have some decent fat on it too. Pork ribs were good however too little meat for the amount of bone. We ordered a baked potato too. It is a quarter pound of meat. We got pulled pork. I'm glad we tried this as it was very good. The potato was hot and cooked through. We got two sides- corn salad and coleslaw. Although the corn salad was supposed to be the unique thing to get, we enjoyed the coleslaw more. Service was fast and friendly. We were reassured that we were making good decisions, lol. Seating is limited and first come first serve. It is crowded, but that's what makes it fun. read more
