We decided to try a pound of brisket, a pound of smoked chicken and a couple of buffalo sausages. Overall I feel three stars is a fair yelp rating. The brisket was good, but the chicken was very dry and the sausage was ok. Everything tasted very salty. The mac and cheese and even the pickles were very salty. We literally had to drown the meat in BBQ sauce. This is just my yelp opinion thou. I have spoiled tasted buds. I was raised by a butcher and tried BBQ at New Mexico and L.A.

Excellent BBQ fast and perfect for our post hike feast. Super friendly staff and we loved the sauces.

Finally drove by when there was little to no line/wait. Ordered two brisket sandwiches and a large tub of the pinto beans. Our order was to go and we planned on eating inside Yellowstone (Barns Hole Road on the Madison River). Staff were extremely polite and engaging. Grabbed our order and peddled down to the river. The pinto beans were still piping hot; so we needed this to cool before digging in. But, that gave us time to enjoy our sandwiches. Delicious. When we finally tucked into the pinto beans, we discovered more chunks of brisket than beans! Very pleased and surprised. Also, excellent flavor (and we live near Austin Texas during the off season and know BBQ). Our kids have been here numerous times and speak highly of their food. I've only had take out a number of years ago and this was my first "fresh from the kitchen" experience. Will absolutely go back!

See? All sold out except brisket the moment we arrived... but brisket was perfectly delicious !

Ran out of literally everything by the time we sat down. As we stood in line, the only meat remaining that was still available was the brisket. What luck! The juicy brisket was perfectly cooked and so moist, tender and delicious. It was quite possibly the best I've ever had... and I love barbecue. They do their smoking/cooking during the day and stay open until it runs out. It was a very popular place obviously and so glad we came across it on Yelp on our wonderful trip to the national parks. We ended our Yellowstone trip on a high note! The restaurant uses paper and plastic (so clean up is easy) and a lot is self serve such as utensils, napkins, water ... but that didn't affect the quality of the food. Adding lots of photos as well. Wish they could smoke more meats so they have enough to last for later in the evening.

If you're visiting Yellowstone and in the mood for good BBQ, this is the place to check out. Service is quick and prices are reasonable. Loved the brisket and pork ribs, but I want to give a special shoutout to the Buffalo sausage links. Those were the bomb!

Had time for one meal in West Yellowstone and this was the spot that locals rec'd the most Their menu is pretty small but tbh that was lowkey refreshing and a good sign bc that prob means they're going for quality over quantity. The primary protein options were brisket, turkey (which they were sold out of), pulled pork, and ribs. I wasn't too hungry so I opted for a brisket sandwich and also decided to try their bison links bc why not. Now w the brisket sandwich they give you the option to choose "juicy" or "lean" meat... shooot you know I had to go w that juicy juicy. Onions, pickles, and bbq sauce were free options on da side, as well. The verdict on the juicy brisket tho? Ok tbh it was good, not amazing haha. I've def had better brisket even back home in Seattle. It coulda used a stronger rub and I wish it had a stronger, smokier taste to it. I saturated that bad boy in bbq sauce to compensate tho. The bison link was pretty dry and mid haha. I honestly wouldn't spend $6 on it had I known. All in all, the total meal after tip was $20, which isn't terrible. It still definitely filled me up! I'd give it a 3.5 if I could.

We've been trying to eat here for years during our visits to Big Sky. We've either been here too early (they don't open till noon) or too late (they close when they run out of BBQ). Today we waited for them to open and it was worth it. We had the bison sausage, brisket, corn salad and mac-n-cheese. We tried the sausage out of curiosity and while flavorful, I don't think bison is our jam. The brisket was AMAZING! Tender and full of flavor. It was good on its own but the BBQ sauces were good with it as well. The hot BBQ sauce had a bite to it - mixing the two together was perfect for me. I never had corn salad before and was surprised how tasty it was. The mac-n-cheese was really good and a perfect accompaniment to our meal! Firehole - it was worth the wait and we'll be back!

So good we came back the next day for more! The best bbq I've ever had. Incredibly flavorful and cooked to perfection. The brisket is my personal favorite while my husband loved the ribs. All of the sides were incredible too. The Cole slaw is perfectly balanced and crispy. The corn is delicious and the crunchy topping elevates the overall side dish. The Mac and cheese is a good side dish that tied the whole meal together. A must try!

5/5 food. All the food was amazing. Quick service and very friendly staff. When a Texan can find BBQ in Montana you gotta give a try and it hit the spot! Easy to sit outside and enjoy the weather on the front patio section...

Great bbq. Even better than the one I tried in Texas! The meat was juicy and soft as heaven. We had a great time there.

Amazing!! Beyond mouth-watering! The bbq pork ribs were incredible, fall off the bone delicious. The cole slaw was outstanding as was the Mac n cheese' was absolutely delicious. We arrived just as a young woman posted a sign about peach cobbler being available. She'd just taken it out of the oven. We knew we were added peach cobbler to our order and we are really glad we did. We definitely plan to come back here before we leave. The best bbq ribs and bbq sauce ever. It's their own bbq sauce, they smoke their meats on site and serve until they run out for the day. Totally fresh meats and sides they have every right to brag about. If you are anywhere near West Yellowstone and you love bbq done right- please, please, please treat your tastebuds to Firehole BBQ. The service is quick, the staff very welcoming and the food will make you want extras to take with you. You'll leave happy!

Does this restaurant opens up at 11am? I found another question and answer but google map says it's 11 am and was confirmed one week ago.

Yes they do which I recommend. They list 11 to 10 but more accurately 11 am til they run out which does happen they are that good.

Does this restaurant open up at 11am or 4pm? Yelp says 11am but google says 4pm (9/10/21)

Hours are 4pm and until they sell out.

Does the staff wear masks to avoid spreading COVID to customers?

Yes, they were all wearing masks, however, they were very unfriendly and not helpful at all when we (first time customers) had questions about how much/what to order.…

One of few venues that would take reservations of this size group. They have a good amount of indoor seating. We sat on the umbrellaed patio, near the musician, just around the corner of the bar from games like cornhole. They were busy, but service was attentive. Many of us had craft beers and cocktails. Everyone was pleased, but i could not list all the beverages for you. We had at least one yummy fresh arugula salad with sirloin cooked-to-order and a lot of flavorful bacon, blue cheese crumbles, green onion, tomatoes, balsamic glaze, and thick "Texas" toast. We shared a number of the many appetizers: Crispy-coated sweet-chili Thai Shrimp were rather small but quite tasty. The tray of nachos was a glorious mess of beans, sauces and crema, mixed melty cheeses, olives, and meat ... i think we got the rich ground "buffalo". The "buffalo balls" were even messier: meatballs in deep gravy over mashed potatoes smothered in sautéed onions and mushrooms. We had "chicken "bites" with two of their yummy flavorings. The soft pretzels and cheese were long thick almost-loaves. And i completely lost track of the mains: several of their loaded burgers and overloaded tacos. The star was the 12oz medium-rare ribeye, topped with herb butter & demi glacé, loaded garlic redskin mashed potatoes, & thick garlic toast. This was a great immersion in great food, drink, ant atmosphere. The $44 ribeye was one of the top-two steaks we had during our trip. (July 2026). Pro tip: every steak is town was good, even the bargains you can find with a little hunting. But be sure to pay a little more once or twice to get the best.

The photos looked amazing, so after we checked in, we drove a few blocks to the place. Parking is limited but we luckily scored a spot. Atmosphere is very cool, bar/restaurant like with sports playing on large TVs throughout. It was kind of warm in there...not sure if they had a working A/C or if it just couldn't keep up with the bodies inside. There was a wait to be seated but not too bad. Maybe 15 mins and the place was packed. We were seated at a bar-like table between the actual bar seating and tables. The waitress was nice and had personality but was a bit stressed out and a little testy after we asked about our food 30+ mins after ordering it. Even the drinks took a long time to be served. I finally gave up and ran to the restroom...of course the food came as soon as I left. It works that way a lot for me. lol The drinks were good - the food was pretty good. Prices are expensive here, but pretty much on par with the rest of the restaurants in town. It's a tourist town in high season and they all know it. We determined not to come back for the next day's meals based on the slow speed of service and try different places in town instead.

This family-friendly restaurant is kept completely separate from the adult bar area, and no minors are allowed in the bar. We had beer from their craft list: Beyern Kolsch and Pigs Ass Porter. Lemonade for the kids. Salad and mac & cheese. Half and half pizza: Sacajawea was a luscious combo of artichoke hearts, spinach, kalamata olives, and feta cheese. And The Dude: sausage, canadian bacon, black olives, and surprising sauerkraut. Lots of other recipes on the menu, and build-your-own, too. Thin enough crust for some crisp, yet enough chew.

When we arrived we were told that it would be a 30 minute wait - no problem, we'll just stroll through town a bit until we get their text. We only got half a block away when we were told that our table was ready, so we hustled back. We each ordered a salad and got a large pizza to share. We chose the Blazing Saddles, which has hot Italian sausage, jalapeños, and banana peppers, plus onions and mushrooms. The salads were generous in size with fresh ingredients. The pizza was very good, but the sauce was a little sour and in general it was a little saltier than we would have preferred. The crust was very nicely done. Service was friendly and efficient. Prices were about what you'd expect in a tourist town. A decent experience overall.

Old Town Cafe was our pick since it seemed to have a variety of different dishes, including options without meat, and the prices seemed reasonable compared to some nearby competitors. I definitely recommend giving this a try if you want to try something unique to the area.
