First time visiting this cafe and it was a pleasant surprise. My waitress was friendly and I was greeted warmly when I walked in. I ordered a breakfast burrito with chorizo and with beans instead of potatoes. They graciously made the substitution for me with no problem. The burrito was generously sized and very tasty. I added extra salsa and enjoyed it thoroughly. The coffee was fresh, hot, and good. I will definitely return here. They have both pork-free and vegetarian breakfast options so I can bring my whole family here. Very pleased! read more

Very disappointed and wondering if there has been a change in ownership. I haven't been to Firehouse Cafe in years. I used to work around the corner from the restaurant and ate there frequently. I placed an order to go. My wife ordered the BBQ Chicken Wrap and I was looking forward to having the Chicken Caesar Wrap, which I remember being very good. However, the meals were disappointing. The chicken was slightly rubbery and did not taste fresh; multiple pieces of the romaine lettuce were brown and soggy; and the fries (possibly frozen) were greasy and undercooked. In short, both of our meals were overpriced and the food quality was poor. Definitely not the Firehouse Cafe I remember. read more

We had lunch on Sunday afternoon. I ordered the Country Sausage Omelet, which comes with a choice of sides. I opted for hashbrowns. It also comes with toast. The price of this gargantuan plate of goodness was less than ten bucks. I will bet you can't find a similar offering at a comparable price in Orange County. My gorgeous wife ordered a salad and the friends with whom we enjoyed the meal both got a Breakfast Bowl, which was the specials offering on the board outside. They loved it. read more

Not so much a cafe as a diner -- according to the offerings. A good old fashioned grandma' approved breakfast with plenty of cholesterol, carbs, and flavor. I've had the breakfasts and the lunches here and they don't disappoint as it would take a fire fighter's active lifestyle hauling entire families of four on their backs to burn up all those calories. I have especially enjoyed the corned beef and hash breakfast, the burgers, and the onion rings. I've brought my parents here and fussy as they are, they loved the pancakes and the omelettes. The proprietor is very on the ball and the staff are quick and efficient. All the staff wear masks and there are partitions between the booths. However, many of the clientele when I go don't wear masks and that was before the CDC changed its mask recs. Look, if I want me or my parents to get infected with COVID with our lunch, we would have gone to the Mamma's Comfort Food or to Cobian's where they don't even pretend to care about virus safety. read more

One secret nugget tucked away in a business complex by Los Alamitos high school is a little breakfast spot called Firehouse Cafe. It is only open for breakfast and lunch. It has a very extensive menu yet simple. Most of the customers seem to be locals... such as ourselves. I just keep forgetting to post about it. There are 2 regular waitresses who are always friendly and on top of everything! Food is always served quickly and hot. I tend to stick with my usual breakfast choice wherever we go. But at FC I seem to try different breakfast items and I have loved everything I've tried. My husband does the same and we always leave full and happy. If you are in the area and looking for just simple, nothing fancy, but a great breakfast you gotta come to the Firehouse cafe. read more

I am sorry. I have to change my rating. Went back 2 more times following my first review and it was a fail each time. Waited forever for somebody to come to wait on us during the first return visit. I ordered the eggs over medium with bacon and rye toast. The bacon was somewhat salty and I had to go up to the counter to get hot sauce after asking for it. During the second return visit, we decided to sit at the counter figuring that we could get better service. Slow service still. Got the steak and eggs. Somewhat tough. Had to ask for fresh toast after my toast was there for 10 minutes before the rest of the meal showed up. Not a repeat. Sorry guys. read more

Was in the area and almost missed this place. I found it on Yelp but it's in a warehouse type bulding. Server, Tina, was super nice and food was great! Unbelievable! I ordered food and was the last I saw of waitress or whatever they are. Felt like I had the plague. After about 30 minutes of waiting after I ordered my food the manager/ owner starts to lay my bill on my table and I say to her I haven't even gotten my food yet no apology just kind of shrugged her shoulders. Middle aged waitresses who are probably working there because they don't have any Customer Service skills. I guess if you're not a regular you're invisible. Never going back . Had the steak sandwich it was a little on the lite side for steak it was strips of steak. I got a side of seasoned fries which were good and a side of macaroni salad which was really good very well seasoned. Kind of a lot of relish. I am not really from this area, and like to explore new places, so I went to yelp and found the firehouse Café. Maybe because it had the name firehouse, I assumed that the portions would be more generous. I found the food mediocre at best and nothing to come back for. It is very loud in there and difficult to have a conversation. I was disappointed in the overall experience.
