Great service and a nice environment, even a few outside tables if you bring Fido. I had their chili size with onions and steak fries; mighty fine dish to be sure. My better half had French Toast with eggs and sausage, they even have boysenberry syrup, which is wonderful in its own way. Fresh brewed iced tea rounded the meal out. I want to wholeheartedly update my experience at Firehouse Cafe. This is one of my parents favorites and I've accompanied them the last three weeks (once a week). Without exception, the food has been made exactly as ordered (extra crispy hash browns rank big in my world). The waffles are amazing and the sourdough toast is thick and tasty as well. They've also presented a clean place to eat. Every waitress has been lovely and when you hear the ladies laughing with their restaurant teammates, you know it's a happy pleasant place to be. It's a diner type place where if you stick to the basics like breakfast and burgers it's pretty good. Stray too far like a fajita omelette (the veggies are diced small and lose all flavor) and it might get iffy. Service is excellent and it's reasonably priced. read more

A buddy and I met here for breakfast (his recommendation) and it definitely hit the spot. We both ordered the 3-Dozer pancake breakfast, and it was great. I left about a quarter of the pancake behind out of carb-guilt, but I was this close to finishing it. The meal comes with three eggs and your choice of four types of meat, all for $14.95. Solid deal for the amount of food. Coffee was good, and the servers were super friendly. They came by often (very often) to top off our coffee, which I appreciated. Parking can get a little tight, but not a dealbreaker. Overall, great pancakes and a solid breakfast spot. I'd come back. Good breakfast choice!! read more

Food is no longer up to par. They call hot unseasoned potatoes home fry's. Omelets aren't real eggs. The Spanish omelet is a flap of eggbeaters filled with canned tomatoes and drenched in enchilada sauce. Honestly I left the city about 20 years ago and remember this place being great. Took my daughter there as we were in town for the holiday and even her pancake was pitiful. Paper thin, and processed mandarin oranges out of a plastic cup....soaking wet....making the already insanely thin pan cake soggy. Service was good... All their breakfast dishes are delish! Their home fries crispy and flavorful (get them O'Brien style!); their French Toast and pancakes bountiful; and any breakfast or lunch item with their 2-alarm or 5-alarm chili is packed full of flavor and spice! If you're a burger fan, they will fill you up with a large patty and fluffy bun. If you get chili on it, just grab your fork and knife, because you won't be able to hold it, with the abundance of chili avalanching over the sides. My husband and I have been there a couple times for breakfast, and both times, we've had a great experience. They always greet us and tell us to have a seat anywhere. On this recent visit our server Amanda was great!! She was busy but always managed to check on us. She noticed my husband and I were trying to take a selfie and she offered to take the picture. Some have lost their support and have rips on the leather. Service is hit and miss. The servers, mostly women, do their job, but I wouldn't describe them as being welcoming. I'm sure some are but may just not be as expressive. Food tasted good and were well prepared. Coffee was average. Although I believe their prices for the meal and beverages are a bit on the pricey side, it was still worth going to. Place can get busy, so don't be in a rush. For instance, we waited 25 mins soon after we placed our four til the time they got to our table. This place is cute and they have a really good diner type food! I don't enjoy the coffee to be quite honest, but the service was fabulous, and the portions are more than enough for two. Their tuna is surprisingly, very very fresh and good, and their pastrami is so tasty! Highly recommend this place 4/5only because of the coffee. read more

Heard many good things and was excited. Waitress seemed like she understood us but brought us poor quality food :( only about half was correct. Due to it being more of a mom and pop we ate what we got and did not fuss. It was bothersome as we did feel watched. We did not go on a busy day or at a busy time and workers seemed bored. Best breakfast in town!! We only live two minutes away and can't believe we haven't been here more often! I will say, the parking sucks when it's busy, and we waited quite a long time for our food; but the server was very sweet and apologetic. When the food arrived it made up for both. There were only 2 servers and 1 busser so it really did take a long time but I'm guessing that's because of post pandemic staffing issues. My Monte Cristo Sandwich had a ton of turkey and ham grilled perfectly, melty cheese and the French toast was light and fluffy with perfectly lightly crispy edges. We love lookingbat all the firefighter photos and memorabilia on the walls from over the years. Worst service on the planet! Go to Black Bear Dinner or Old Susana Cafe instead! The female server with dark hair, and a short ponytail (no name tag) needs to learn how to do her job! She must be a family member of the owner because no real business person would allow this apathetic unprofessional behavior from an employee unless they were related. The server NEVER greeted us and seemed annoyed at our existence however when a regular or local arrived she would turn on the charm for them and serve them first. While taking our order and everyone else's order (except regulars) she did not smile and would tap her foot over and over again to suggest that we hurry up. We arrived at 11:00 am and the place was dead. When we asked for a food suggestion she said everything is good and kept tapping her foot. Who does that? The food took a long time which was ok but she never checked in on us and when the food finally did arrive she didn't acknowledge the delay or us. She just hastily placed our food in front of us and walked away, again with no engagement. The server finally dropped off our check it only had the total amount handwritten on a check receipt. There was no breakdown whatsoever. How do I know if it was the correct amount with no breakdown, plus without knowing the amount without a breakdown you are tipping on the tax portion too? We thought it was more than it was supposed to be and when asked about the breakdown her response was the total is right there. I didn't want to leave ANY tip however I blessed her with a 10% tip. Unfortunately, this just encourages her to keep up the good work, not! The food was outstanding and the service was the worst we have ever received at a Simi Valley restaurant, we WILL NOT be back! If you do go, look for the server with the dark hair with the longer ponytail, she seemed very pleasant and provided outstanding service to her clients. read more

Stumbled upon this cozy Cafe. Staff was very friendly, there was lots of culture related to the name. Food was delicious!
