Finally got around to trying this place! I'm a bit of a Huevos Rancheros addict, so thought I would try theirs. It was okay. I was disappointed. I like mine served with rice and beans, theirs only comes with beans. The tomato sauce was weird tasting, had huge chunks of celery. No accompaniment of sour cream, avocado. Boring! My girls had the Jr. Breakfast and seemed to enjoy theirs. Their only complaint is they don't have a turkey bacon/sausage choice, but were happy with their fruit substitute. The service was great! Our server refilled coffee and water several times. The plates are generous and the prices are good too. Will definitely come again. read more

First the good. The place feels like an old Diner from the East Coast. Lots of firehouse chuchkies and cool little things to look at while you're waiting for your food. The ambience is casual. There is a good selection of options from the menu. We ordered a chicken salad, a hamburger and a turkey sandwich. Now the not-so-good. Everyone in the restaurant seemed very friendly including the hostess and every waitress, but ours. We must have drawn a bad luck straw as our waitress complained about being tired and got out order wrong after several attempts at making her understand very simple instructions (ie toasted bread). No apologies when she brought out the food wrong, just a snarky, "Ill take it back". I get it, good service is hard to find. Again the food was good, everybody else seemed friendly, and it's probably a good local place if you get great service. read more

i love breakfast food, but i would never get up early enough on the weekend to fight for parking and wait in line to get into a good breakfast place. And I can honestly say that this place has really good breakfast food! Yes, there is no question that this place does get really busy during the breakfast rush, no matter what day of the week it is. The good thing for me is that they are open til 2 pm, so I can stroll in at 1pm for brunch on Saturday or Sunday with no wait! Each time I come here, I've always had great service. My coffee cup had never been empty, and sometimes I feel like I'm slacking when the staff comes around with the coffee pitcher and I have not even taken a sip from the last refill! The top three items for me are: 1. The Waffles (I like it plain, with syrup) 2. Chili Omelet 3. Cinnamon Roll So for my next visit, my stomach already has it's eyes on the Monte Cristo Sandwich! After living in Simi Valley for more then 10 years I finally came here, and I will be going back for more. About a week ago I had 2eggs 2 bacon with French toast. I wouldn't say its better then Millies, but it's close. Everything had a good flavor unlike eggs & things. No really? how can you mess up egg's when its in the title of your restaurant! The OJ was great! they give it to you in a big glass the services was even better! The prices are good, and you get more food then say ohhh egg's & things. It appears many regulars come here. Having passed this place many times during evening walks, I was curious about this establishment and its unique firehouse theme. Upon the first visit, the Firehouse Café lives up to its name in interior décor. Plenty of furnishings that reflect the fire brigade, with a slight touch of a 50s café in the front bar having stools available. The food itself was a real pleasure: a chili cheese omelet, ranging from a 2 alarm (mild) to 5 alarm (spicy) beanless chili, with grated cheddar, hash browns, and chocolate milk, made a breakfast/brunch dining experience a truly wholesome and pleasant one. Service was equally prompt and gracious, the staff providing good attention to details and a positive disposition for customers. This place has the best chili cheese omelet I've ever tasted, and I hope to come back again soon, eager for more. Thank you for a most satisfying experience. Literally EVERY SINGLE PERSON who works here is wonderful. I have NEVER had a bad experience and we've been coming for years, more often the last couple of years. With COVID, they've had to make many changes to accomodate the restrictions and in my opinion they've handled it well. As a customer, there's basically been no interruption in their service. I happened by The Firehouse Cafe for breakfast yesterday, and had a very nice but unspectacular breakfast. It's a cute little place with a large menu consisting of mostly eggs, pancakes, burgers and sandwiches. in other words American Food for Americans. Somehow, though I wound up choosing what they called an Italian omelet ($9.25) and coffee ($2.25). I also upgraded my toast to a biscuit and gravy for ($1.00) more. The omelet was kind of large but seemed heavy on the cheap-o ingredients, bell peppers and onions and light on the high food cost cheese, mushrooms and Italian sausage, The sausage was very mild, and the whole omelet was warm and cooked well; but it was also kind of bland. I have to give high marks to the biscuit and gravy, this was a massive biscuit, firm but fluffy, and the country grave (served on the side in a bowl) was outstanding. There was almost as much meat in the grave as in my omelet. The hash browns were pretty good too, and while the coffee was average, it was served in a large mug the friendly waitress always kept full for me. My three items totaled 12.50; and yet somehow with the tax my un-itemized bill, said $13.96. Apparently she either overcharged me for an item or figured the tax wrong as my bill should have been $13.44. Rather than argue, I asked for the senior discount (yes, I am older than I look) and the 10% discount brought it down to $13.00 exactly. I also knocked her tip down from $3.00 to $2.50. It seems the waitress is apparently a lot better at smiling and refilling my coffee than she is at math. I let it slide, but I really wish I was charged the proper price. read more

Went here with my wife's large family for the first time. Been wanting to come here for years and it did not disappoint! Service was perfect and my cup was always full of coffee! Food arrived in a timely manner (even with a large party) and was fresh and full of flavor! Excellent American breakfast and lunch. I'm not a huge fan of an American breakfast because I've eaten too many of them over the years. However, when I'm in the mood for American fare this is my go to place. If I were rating just the food and service I would give the Firehouse 5 stars. I deducted 1 star because the parking is insufficient most of the time because the place is so popular and because it is kind of pricey for basic American food. As of this writing, a cup of coffee is $3.49 with unlimited refills. If the prices and parking are not a big deal to you I would give this place a try. The wait was a little long, I say it was about a 30-40 minute wait (we arrive at about noon) but it felt like hours. I was a hungry beast . Upon ordering I wanted an all carb breakfast, hashbrowns, a bagel and waffles but being me, I ordered an egg white omelette, fruit and a waffle .... Maybe not "Triple D"-worthy, but it's a darned good place for a breakfast! At first we felt like we might be out of place, like it would be a "fireman's restaurant" or a "cop bar" type of place. Hardly. They just really appreciate and respect the great work these day to day heroes do (and I'm sure they're frequented by Ventura Cty's finest, based on the decor. The poached eggs were perfect, as were the fried. Pancakes were, well, pancakes. Hashbrowns were very good, and the fruit bowl was very generous. Firehouse is a pretty standard diner, but it is delicious. We usually come for their breakfast, which has never disappointed us. It can get really busy, so it's best to come in with some patience to be seated. The service has always been good. They take our orders quickly, get our food to us quickly, and check on us enough to never let the coffee go cold. Parking can be crazy too. People have blocked us in or parked in unmarked places, making it difficult to get in or out. We prefer just parking on the street to avoid the whole issue. read more

You could drive by this place and end up missing out on some good food. We don't live in the area, but we hope to move to Simi soon and have been house hunting out that way. We stopped in for breakfast and the place was poppin'! Saturday morning around 10:30 it was packed! But even with a ton of people waiting, they got us in a seat in no time. Waitresses are busy and on the move, which is great! They got us in our seat, got us drinks and we looked over the extensive menu. It's big but there are a ton of options! We had a cheeseburger, which was as big as my kids head, and delicious!!! Grilled cheese, patty melt and I had eggs benedict. Everything was delicious and they asked if I wanted my potatoes smoked, which had the potatoes O'Brien effect but with kielbasa too! Literally, it could have been a meal as it was smothered in their gravy as well. Let's just say I did not leave hungry. The waitress was super sweet and helpful and everyone was there was so lovely! All I can say is STEAK FRIES!!!!! How can you go wrong with a restaurant that serves steak fries! They are so good! I have been twice and the serving sizes are huge so be prepared to loosen your belt buckles and take a nap after indulging! My favorite on the menu is the cheesesteak with pepperchines.
