I also decided to try the char-grilled Maxwell street Polish sausage with sport peppers and cheese sauce. Unfortunately, the Polish sausage was underwhelming, and the cheese sauce tasted like canned cheese from a dollar store. Both are items I wouldn't order again in the future. The onion rings are also worth a mention, they are well made, crispy and full of flavor. I also had their shakes before and they were pretty good. I once had their chocolate cake and it was very rich in flavor and not dry at all like other cakes. I always eat in the diner because I love how they have decorated the space. It reflects the history of the city of Arlington. It is a mix of car decor honoring the GM plant and part of the decor is also bowling, to honor the national bowling museum and headquarters located in arlington. I love how its so big and spacious. I'm sitting in my kitchen thinking about all the TERRIBLE fast food jobs i slaved away at as a young adult maybe 21 just trying to scrape everything u can to make life work and i remembered Firehouse Subs by Academy sports and outdoors in Arlington, Texas. i remember having to wear a pair of my gfs jeans that would be dress code compliant bc i literally did not have my own. i remember crying as i was bagging pickles trying my best to keep the tears from being too noticeable, but i just couldn't hold it back anymore. The guy who owns this place as well as operates it was a retired cop who hates his life so much he takes it out on his employees. i just remember thinking how low that man (the owner) made me feel as i was truly busting my ass and trying my best, being bossed around like a dog and degraded constantly for $7.25 an hour. i don't believe i lasted a month before i was sick of the way i was treated. he was a complete prick and hands down the worst employer i have ever worked for and that's why i'm taking the time to write this long review to let people know DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS. fast forward 4 years later and i'm making over 3x that much working from home in my robe for a multi billion dollar tech giant. i hope people read this and truly BOYCOTT THIS BUSINESS next to Academy in Arlington Texas. I really ever cared for subway so no needed to find a Bette sandwich stop. I tried firehouse subs once and that was that. The Turkey is so moist and the bread is always fresh! They really have exceeded my expectations of the sandwich making world. I work in an office so lunch is always something quick and easy. With online ordering, I never have to wait in a long line or worry about getting back to the office on time. It's wonderful! The customer service at this location is UNBELIEVABLE. I wish I could explain the feeling I get when I walk in and see everyone smiling and happy. I've never seen a person complain or leave the place unhappy. There's such a variety to choose from and so many combos of veggies and sauces that I don't see how you could EVER be unhappy. This is definitely my go-to sandwich making shop! read more

The toppings I chose were the standard lettuce, tomatoes, onions, banana peppers, and pickles. As for the condiments I went messy with mayonnaise, spicy brown mustard and of course I had to get it Mikes way which is an olive oil blend and red wine vinegar. As I walked through the doors during lunch hours on a weekday day the place was quite busy, but the line was moving steady and fast. There were many tables to sit at with also a sitting bar to enjoy your sub while looking out the clean glass windows and admiring the finer things in life. They have a pickup station where all online orders will be waiting for you as soon as the item is ready. As I walk up to the station, I notice a brown Jersey Mikes bag with a receipt of my order and my name written on it. I went ahead and picked it up and proceeded to find a seat to unwind and fill up my tummy. The sub was wrapped in paper that was perfectly packaged while the bag was sealed with a taper. The sub was looking stunning and fresh as to where I couldn't resist any longer and I knew I just had to dig in. The bread was airy and soft with a nice snap back but yet very pillowy. The first thing I noticed was the splash of red wine vinegar and olive oil that coated the sub very well. The finely shredded crisp bright green lettuce and the taste of sweet vine ripe tomatoes made a huge impact on the meal. The pungent red onions and sour dill pickles mingled in the rest of the flavors while the condiments of mayonnaise and mustard added a creamy smooth finish to this masterpiece. Everything tasted great and the quality of the food was suburb and outstanding. I'm looking forward to coming back again soon to maybe try out a hot sub next time since every time I come here, I always choose a cold one. Overall, Job well done at this location and I'm already looking forward to the next visit.
