I've been wanting to visit Portillo's since the beginning of 2026, and I finally found the time to stop by. I ordered my usual char-broiled double cheeseburger, fries, and onion rings, which never disappoints. I also decided to try the char-grilled Maxwell street Polish sausage with sport peppers and cheese sauce. Unfortunately, the Polish sausage was underwhelming, and the cheese sauce tasted like canned cheese from a dollar store. Both are items I wouldn't order again in the future. I never experience Portillo's until it came to arlington. I heard many good things and after trying Portillo's multiple times I can see the hype is real. I really enjoyed the beef sandwich and I always get it baptize. I like to order extra dipping sauce with it so I can just drown it haha. My favorite are the hot dogs, which is what they are know for. I love the chicago style dogs and I love adding ketchup and mustard to my hot dogs. For the side I really enjoy getting a side of cheese and dipping my fries into it, thank me later. The onion rings are also worth a mention, they are well made, crispy and full of flavor. I also had their shakes before and they were pretty good. I once had their chocolate cake and it was very rich in flavor and not dry at all like other cakes. I always eat in the diner because I love how they have decorated the space. It reflects the history of the city of Arlington. It is a mix of car decor honoring the GM plant and part of the decor is also bowling, to honor the national bowling museum and headquarters located in arlington. I love how its so big and spacious. Absolutely love portillos! They have a great selection burgers , chicken sandos, fish sandwiches, not just hotdogs! But they are sooo good ! My fav is the Maxwell sausage, it's absolutely delicious and the grilled onions yum! Definitely hits the spot! If you haven't , try the chocolate cake shake! Or the cake alone! Yum! They also have seasonal cakes ! Right now they have pumpkin spice slices! This is another one I noticed but never visited; thankfully for this event, I finally stopped by. I had heard many things about Portillo's, I was anxious to finally try it. The inside was very clean, and I loved the way they decorated their establishment. They have a large menu, so it took a moment to pick what I wanted. I missed seeing they have a fish sandwich, but I was still happy with what I ended up with. That'll be on my list for the next visit. The young lady at the counter was very sweet but needed a bit of help with ringing up the order, but it was a quick fix. With my order, I was given a nice take-home cup. Thank you! Spicy Chicken Sandwich: It was very good and plentiful. Next time, I will add pickles and remove the lettuce. When I removed the lettuce, it was wilted and brown in several places. You could taste the lack of freshness, which led me to remove it. If you love spicy, this is the sandwich for you! Onion Rings: Now, I'm not an onion rings person, but I wanted to try something outside of fries. Oooh-wee, these were so good! They were fresh and weren't drowned in grease; heck, they didn't even make it home; the container was almost empty. Keep in mind, they are a bit expensive, but worth a visit. This was my second time trying Portillo's. My friend, who grew up in Chicago, swears by it. Since I wasn't impressed the first time I tried their sandwich at the Mansfield location, I asked him for a recommendation to see what all the hype was about. He suggested the Italian beef sandwich, extra gravy, with hot peppers. I was still not impressed. That being said, the cashier was sweet and quick, and this location was much faster than the one in Mansfield. Love the turning doors to go in! It's a walk up order or use the digital screen to place order. I ordered the chili dog without onion and side of onion rings. Although I chose the self order, ordering with someone would be my choice next time. Lots of menu options and overall a large place. Loved the decor and how clean the restaurant was. As a midwestern Gal.... an Italian roast beef from Chicago is the perfect comfort food. My sandwich was absolutely delicious! I 100% get it extra wet with hot and sweat peppers. To die for deliciousness! The vibe of the place is great. Kind of a nostalgic vibe. The fries were good! I'm not a huge fan of ordering on touch screens but it is the way of the future u suppose. Came in during lunch time and it was pretty empty! Which made it a nice experience because everything was clean and service was super fast! I got the big beef sandwich with onion rings. The onion rings were extremely delicious and crispy. The big beef was a lot of meat, I don't think I would get it again but it was an experience to be had. I've read that getting their beef sandwich's makes the bread soggy, but since I ate my order in restaurant my bread was actually still nice and toasty! I know it sounds odd--chocolate cake in a shake--but trust me, it's a game-changer. First of all... what a cute place! Second... we received such a warm greeting from each employee we came across. The young lady that took our order was awesome and helped out with what to order. Hubby likes to ask 'what would you have?' And she came through like a champ! So I drove through the drive-through and the gentleman there were so sweet and they made me a delicious sandwich and they were just as nice as could be. Finally got to try this place. I believe this is a fairly new location, so everything was clean. As you walk in, there are some tablets for you to place your order if you don't want to order with a person, which I think is cool. We decided to order with a person and everyone was really nice. The inside of this place is really unique, and they have a lot of stuff hanging on the walls like pictures and other knickknacks. There is a section for booths and then a section for tables, which I think is awesome. Now, the food: the food was great! I tried the chili cheese hotdog, and it tasted really good! The chili was not overpowering and not super salty, which you may or may not like, but it was still good regardless. It is definitely worth a try. I also tried the chocolate cake, and that was amazing!! I really love that cake and will be coming back for more of that. It is loud here even when there are not a lot of customers. The food is okay. The big beef is large but without the gravy the flavor was bland. I've been to this Portillo's twice at this point. One was my first time doing Portillos as a drive thru experience. That experience was really good, they had someone out with an ipad to make sure they were getting orders correct. Food was good even with the togo option. Next time we swung by to go inside. Things went much quicker than they ever had at the Colony location. The issue we had was when ordering was that I had gotten the dip sandwich which I hadn't ever had from here before, but had the same sandwiches elsewhere. When ordering they asked if I wanted sauce on the side, but not what sauce. So, I thought it was the sauce that tends to make the bread sometimes soggy not the cheese and they didn't mention that it was an upcharge. A bit of a surprise when I got my food. When I asked they were confused by my confusion ... So, I guess my bad for not understanding sauce meant cheese? Bread was indeed soggy at the bottom so it was hard to eat as an actual sandwich and wasn't as good as other similar sandwiches we've had in the past. I ended up not eating more than a bit or two and sticking with my onion rings. The rest of our food came out as expected, so when we do come back we just know to skip the Italian beef. read more

I like how clean it is and how good it smells! Having to eat gluten free means perhaps a bunless charbroiled burger, bunless chili cheese dog, or Caesar salad (no croutons) for me.
