Ok stopped by since had been a while and the food has greatly improved, Spouse had the Hook and Ladder while I opted for the Turkey Bacon Ranch. Both were tasty and well prepared. (Although I did not get a pickle LOL). Prep staff were fast and efficient while the cashier could have cared less. Plenty of seating and the area was clean. Parking can be a little tough as they are in a strip center so sometimes you need to park a little farther away. Easy access to Florence as there is a lighted intersection close by. So I walk in behind two others who I am not with. They are facing the sandwich artists behind the counter. I've never been to firehouse before and assumed the sandwich part comes first since it's closest to the door, not the register. I waited and waited ti be acknowledged. Finally I greeted the sandwich artists behind the counter because the people who came in ahead of me were on their phones. They took my order and then I went to pay. But the girl at the register was confused because I had ordered at the sandwich counter and not with her. No one making my sandwich asked me what type of bread i wanted or if any of the toppings were ok. I just feel like this was a confusing and terrible experience. This establishment is in the service : hospitality industry and I felt no hospitality. I manage hotels for a career and teach my teams how to see and respond to cues. This means that if you see someone in your restaurant looking around for where to go, perhaps a team member looks up from the floor and greets their guest and welcomes them over to order a sandwich. Now the management is great about giving you a replacement or a new sand when you come in . But if you drive all the there 26 mi roundtrip pay over $11.00 for a large sub it should at least have fresh ingredients not brown lettuce nor just one thin slice of unripened tomato with such dry bread one could hardly swallow. Top that off with paying $3.98 for two Brownies that were not even there. Than open you mimnist sandwich box to no pickle spear. I did call, the manager had just left so I talked to a shift lead. She said she would put me on the list for a free medium sandwich. She tried to refund the cost of the brownies but ended up canceling the entire order than just recharged me. This is by far my favorite sandwich place in the valley! Their subs are so good! I love how many options there to choose from. The meatball sandwich is to die for.
