We visit this store fairly regularly. This last visit was more lacking than usual. We waited a long time for our food. In fact people who ordered after us got their food before us. Someone else waiting actually pointed that out to us. The New York Steamer was not what it normally is. Meat was cut thick and was tough and chewy. I remember it being better. Although I have never placed an order at the Chantilly store due to the distance from my home for takeout, I would like to commend the manager of the Chantilly store, Oscar, for his assistance at the Fairfax store. (He was working there temporarily last night when I called.) Oscar let me know that the Fairfax store manager was not available. Nevertheless, Oscar took ownership of my problem. He answered my questions about who the manager of the Fairfax store was and when I could expect to reach him the next day. He informed me that, due to the fact that I placed an online order, I had to contact Customer Support instead. Then Oscar provided me with the telephone number of Customer Support. During the call, despite my obvious consternation and frustration, Oscar remained calm, attentive, and forthcoming. This is a shout out to Oscar for his outstanding service. read more

I like Firehouse Subs from time to time. Sometimes I'm just not in the mood for that other sub place, so this is a nice option to have. Their sandwiches are quite tasty. My favorite has to be the Smokehouse Beef & Cheddar Brisket. Thin slices of brisket with gooey cheese and BBQ sauce. Add onions and lettuce for free. You have your choice of white or wheat bread. They are both tasty. Pickle comes on the side with every sandwich. I like that they wrap it in a separate baggy so it doesn't get your sandwich soggy. I love that they offer a Free Birthday Sub. Simply come on your birthday and show your drivers license. No coupon or email sign up necessary. Simple enough and greatly appreciated! The cashier was friendly. She was quick to take my order and even threw in an enthusiastic "Happy Birthday!" for me. So sweet, not sure if she was one of the owners? This place gets packed during lunch. read more

I always enjoy the sandwiches at Firehouse - warm and flavorful. Hooks and ladder is always my go to. I didn't want to write as a negative, as this may not be in they're control. Please talk to your Coca-Cola rep about your Freestyle Coke machine. I'm a Coke Zero drinker and everytime I fill up a cup at your machine - I sip and then have to pour it out. It tastes awful! 3/5 March 2019. This is a pretty average Firehouse Subs which is to say it's a solid sub joint. Our visit it was uneventful and our food was good. It's a lot better than a certain yoga mat sub joint. This is not the best hoagie shop in this part of Chantilly; and it is a chain (though, it is a high-end chain).  But, it is very good.   This place meets the basics of being a 4.25/4.5-star sandwich shop: a) It is pretty darn clean (basically, 100% of the time). b) It has competent service.  They are not Mother Theresa, but they are friendly. c) Ingredients are fresh. More importantly, the hoagie you actually end up eating is better than any sandwich you will get at a Subway, and/or at any other more utilitarian-style hoagie shop. Pastrami is VERY good here; however, it is hard for you to get a ham-based sandwich here (unless you want that ham to taste very sweet, which I usually do not). So, that last part, *that* is a problem. Overall, though, this place is a good find. read more

We've given it two shots this week. Simply because we loved them when we lived in Charlotte...ehh...not so much. Our toasted wheat bread was soggy. They put all the hunks of meat in the middle vs, spreading it out so literally 1/3 of the sandwich was just wet bread. We are going to give them a few weeks to get it together and then hopefully I can update my review. You should've seen the crazy looks they gave me when I took the store photos to help out their Yelp page lol. Keep practicing guys! This location is not as good as the one in Fairfax Towne Center. It's not bad, but they skimp on the meat here. The prices are high for what you're getting in your sandwich. I think I may be spoiled by my huge Harris Teeter subs but I know a skimp sandwich when I see one! Also, the food is not always consistent. The steak and cheese can be bland, chicken can be a bit dry unless I add alot of mayo. Need to work on flavor a bit. Service is pretty fast even when it's relatively busy on the weekdays, which is great if you're in a rush. Employees are nice but sometimes I feel rushed and they seem annoyed if I don't know what I want right away. My order have been correct each time so no problem there. They can definitely improve this restaurant. I wouldn't even mind if service was a bit slower so they take their time on the subs making it even better. SUPER SLOW! Like the polar opposite of Jimmy John's. My son and I ordered at early lunch time (11:20am), there were only a few people in the store and the 2 sandwiches took almost 20 minutes. I have absolutely no idea what could take so long to make a turkey sub and an italian sub. We had plenty of time to eat to start with but ended up having to take them to go so he could get back to school on time. Coca-cola freestyle machine was out of diet coke and every type of lemonade, I told them that right after we ordered but it took until we were getting ready to leave for them to even start looking for refills. I've heard good things about Firehouse Subs, and I agree that their subs are pretty good. I would pick here over Subway.. except that their overall sub sizes are very small for the price. I was really surprised when our food came out, and if that small sub wasn't enough for me, then it definitely wasn't enough for my boyfriend. Keep your expectations in check; it's yet another sandwich shop chain. I'm a tri-state transplant so what I consider a good sandwich is a lot different than everyone else who's not from that area. That being said, the sandwiches are good, nothing to write home about. The bread taste decent and the flavor of the meats are decent tasting as well. I like it better than Subway. Prices in my opinion are on the high side, in the tri-state area you get a LOT more bang for your buck like 1/2 to 1 pound of meat on your sandwich vs. 2 or 3 slices that these chain sandwich shops dish out. (Oh how I miss NYC!) I only hit up places like this with my co-workers for lunch during the work week, outside of that, I never go. I had the steak n cheese and it was good but my God, what really made my experience so unbelievably amazing is Alex T. I have never had such a good customer service experience in my life. He was so caring, attentive, kind, knowledgeable, and just positive in every single way. He puts Chick-fil-A workers to shame. I will be coming back here again solely because of Alex. Who doesn't love 2 shelves lined with hot sauce??! A new hire manned the register and a trainer walked them through ringing up our sub orders. No prob, new jobs are great. I ordered a "Hero" with roast beef and turkey on a wheat base. The pickle spear on the side was extra tart but not in a bad way, I couldn't stop eating it, so sour! This was our first time going there and overall it was a good experience. The person taking our order at the cash register mumbled a bit so he was hard to understand. We ordered the steak and cheese with mushrooms and the club on a sub, both large. And they offered a free small cup for water. We were going to eat outside but it was windy and a bit cold. It took a bit longer to get than like Subway, but they do bring it to your table. The water tasted pretty good. It might be filtered, which is nice to find around Chantilly. The steak and cheese was really good and so was the club on a sub. It could have used more bacon though. The meat and bread are great. I do think they could use some other condiment options. I'm not sure what though. It was $22 for 2 large subs. A bit more expensive than some places ($17 at Subway for something similar), but the food is good and the people are friendly. read more

I had the 8 inch New Yorker and the sandwich was okay, but certainly nothing special. This was my first time eating at firehouse subs. The first thing that struck me when I opened my sub was that fact that it was small. The medium is 8 inches and they also have a 12 inch sub that is $2 more. I figured an 8 inch sub would be enough, it was not. The sub might have been 8 inches (maybe), but it was quite skinny and wasn't packed with very much meat. Overall it was less filling than a subway 6 inch. I took my sub home so it was eaten 15 minutes after it was made. The sub had too much mayo and the bread was pretty soggy. Perhaps it wouldn't have been soggy had I eaten it right away - hard to say. The place was clean and the kids working there were very nice. read more

My only other experience with Firehouse Subs is with a location in Florida. That was my first experience and I was definitely impressed. Firehouse gives a different spin on a regular old sub and the experience is tasty. I'd easily say that Firehouse Subs are better than Subway and Quiznos combined, as far as subs go. Sandwich ingredients are great, staff has been friendly and fast the few times I have eaten here. The only issue is the soft, doughy bread is a turnoff for anyone from the NY, NJ area. Simply a matter of preference, but one should be able to drive a baseball at least 200 feet with a good crusty, untoasted roll. read more
