Right off the bat I'll say part of the reason for the low rating is my own fault. I do not like hot sandwiches (Unless its a cheesesteak or meatball.) I have rolled past this place several times and decided to give it a shot today. So I'm quickly trying to scan the menu for something resembling a club (Like Jersey Mike's #8), I opt for the Club on a Sub. Nowhere did I note these sandwiches were served hot (or warm). Yeah I did see the fake smoke rising from the sandwich pictures and figured it was part of the fireman theme. Looking over the menu I took with me I now see there is a section of Hot Specialty Subs... Anyway, place was clean, service was good. I thought it took a while to make the sandwich, it was lunch time but they weren't busy. Everyone was nice and friendly. As soon as I got back to work and opened this thing I noticed some nasty looking stuff on the slimy looking ham. That's when I notice this thing is warm and that is cheese. Oh $iht! So yeah there was plenty of meat and nothing particularly wrong with it, I just hate to have warm veggies on a hot sandwich. So what would have been crispy lettuce is now soggy. I just don't see anything here worth coming back for. So beware ALL SANDWICHES ARE HOT!!! (Except their tuna and chicken salad, according to their menu). read more

O M G this place gets better and better every time I come here. I started out with the hook and ladder sandwich then got the club on a bun today and Wow is all I can seriously say. My boyfriend gets the brisket BBQ sandwich and I promise you will not be disappointed. The price is a little higher than jersey mikes but for the amount of wow and delicious and amount of food...totally worth it. This place has lots of great options and healthy ones too. I got the sandwich with the BBQ beef brisket and cheddar on wheat and it was really good. Their sandwiches are mainly meat but I think you can add veggies. For soda drinkers they have one of those soda machines where you can choose from a ton of flavors of soda like cherry, vanilla, orange, grape coke and sprite. First time stopping at firehouse & I'm already impressed, I happen to stop early before they opened & their manager was kind enough to open early for me. I can tell they go to great lengths to provide fresh & awesome service. The portions are fair & their prices are premium but so are the contents of the sandwich so I think it's worth it. Their sandwiches are expertly prepared & toasted just right. All the contents of the Italian (with everything) was in every bite. My bias is that I'm very hungry & it didn't take long for them to prepare. Their manager was very kind to open 30 mins early for me as I was their only customer. I think it's cool they also support fire fighters as that was part of their foundation. Give some change & you can help support their charities. Definitely would come back! read more

Today I decided to stop by Firehouse Subs is located right around the corner from my house off of Harbor and Mesa Verde. Rob, Alexis, and Roxana are all very friendly. The whole staff seems knowledgeable about the meeting which is a plus. Today I asked each staff member what they felt was the best item on the menu. I chose to go with Rob selection to Philly cheese. The service is always solid and the value for your sub is on the pricier side, but worth it. I got the Italian medium size and that's plenty for lunch or dinner. It was super savory and delicious with copious amounts of sauce. Honestly, the decor hurts my eyes, but just get the sandwich to go. I love Firehouse Subs! I started going a few weeks ago and learned kids eat free after 4 pm with a large adult combo! That is perfect for my family of four! What makes it even better is substituting chips for soup and getting a cookie with the kids meals. The large subs are so big and full of meat I can only eat half and a little soup. The loaded potato soup is amazing! We all mix and match, sharing the meal family style. AND they give a discount to veterans SO my huge family meal ends up being less than $20!!! The philly steak and the beef and cheddar are our favorites and we always get the meatball subs for the kids. We have this on our weekly dinner rotation now. read more

I got their #10 Smokehouse Beef & Cheddar Brisket (Medium). The sandwich is on the smaller side, but I love how it came out streaming hot. Overall, it tasted great, layers of flavors and completed with a perfectly toasted bread. The guy who made my sandwich forgot to put bbq sauce on it, but it tasted fine without it I think. Try asking the sauce on the side if you decide to order the same sandwich. You might like it or you might not. Value wise, you'd get more food from subway for the same price, but you get what you pay for: subway tastes more like streamline fast food while firehouse is still fast food it tastes better with ingredients like what you will get from a restaurant. Not a bad sando. I am not sure what Nijole T is talking about how Subway is better, the sandwich (#9) was piled nicely with turkey, ham and roast beef. I got a medium combo ($10 ouch) and the size was nothing small. I know this is nit picking but I don't need the 30+ oz cup for a medium drink. One nice touch is the variety of hot sauces they supply at the front of the restaurant. It is a nice way to 'spice' up you sando. Fiancé wanted to try this place so I finally agreed with him. I was expecting a small sandwich shop where you walk down and assemble your sandwich but that was not the case. This place is quite large and extremely clean. All the tables were nice, clean and organized and we received multiple hellos from the staff working as soon as we walked in. There were four people working (Wednesday evening) but I have to say our experience was made by Roxana. She immediately made us feel welcome and suggested a bunch of great sandwiches for us. My fiancé wanted a chicken Parmesan sandwich which was not on the menu, but Roxana recommended subbing the meatballs for the chicken on a meatball sub. (Super delicious by the way. He inhaled that thing.) I ordered the club on a sub and it was super filling and delicious. We will definitely be back. Roxana made great conversation while our sandwiches were being made. We mentioned that we're getting married in December and trying to cut out soda and she told me how great the salads here are as well. She also mentioned they have a lot of under 500 calorie sandwich options as well so it's good to know I can eat healthy here! I ordered the #3 on white bread. The bread was soft and fresh. The corned beef brisket and pastrami were both tender and flavorful. I got the mustard and mayo on side but did not need them as i used this sweet and spicy sauce they have.
