When the adults are away the children will play and children were working in firehouse on 14SEP2016 at 1650. The cashiers were on point and welcoming as when they were not taking orders they were cleaning. I was actually greeted by someone who I believed worked at firehouse but was just there talking to the staff making food as she was not in a firehouse uniform. The issue was that it took 14 minutes for my food to come out as a person who ordered after me got their much larger order first. I only ordered an Italian. I will say the lady who did get her order first went back up to the counter because the order was wrong. It was understandable how her order could have been wrong with all the playing around that took place from the employees making food. I heard numerous times the female making the food tell the two other guys to stop (whatever they were doing) while she was making food. I can't speak for everyone but I don't like people playing around my food. There might need to be some adult supervision as this place seemed to be more of a playground than a place of business. As for my food it was on the OK side as I did get plenty of meat but a majority of the meat was clumped right in the middle of the sandwich. I had to spread it around to avoid getting a bite of all bread and then just a huge bite of just meat. Burgers, frozen yogurt, cupcakes, etc. Firehouse subs comes into the game not openly promoting themselves as an upscale sub shop but make no mistake, their product is next level as compared to their counterparts. Nestled in a sprawling shopping center, in an upscale suburb between DC and Baltimore, this location is a moderately sized place with a good amount of seating options. There are also a couple of flat screen televisions for sports fans. Service is pretty decent. The staff consists of a lot of young energetic folks who do a firehouse chant while preparing customer orders. The order takers/cashiers can be a little flighty. As a submarine sandwich quality control specialist, I must say, they know what they're doing here. I've tried the New York Steamer as well as the Smokehouse Beef and Cheddar Brisket. First off, all the subs come in nice portion sizes. The Steamer features corned beef brisket, pastrami, melted provolone, mustard, mayo and Italian dressing. Everything goes together perfectly as the corned beef and pastrami complement each other well along with the condiments. The Italian dressing adds a little tang to things and it most definitely works. The Smokehouse features USDA Choice beef brisket smoked for 10+ hours, melted cheddar, and special sauces. Generous amount of tender brisket slathered in a bbq sauce that hits sweet, sour and spicy notes. Fantastic! The coca cola freestyle machine is a nice touch with over 100 beverage flavors to choose from. Chips, cookies and brownies are the dessert options. The brownies are definitely different than what I'm used to and may be an acquired taste for some. Watch out Subway because Firehouse is up and coming! read more

For a long time I wondered about Firehouse subs. There are so many other sandwich shops, I said "why bother"..but I did, and to my delight. The location is clean, and the staff is friendly. I ordered a giant "Hook and Ladder" , it not only looked as advertised but tasted even better. My preference is on the wheat roll. I don't live near this location but if I'm hungry and in the area, I'll return. Moreover, I appreciate the dedication and simplicity to make a good sandwich. I've been in here like 3 or 4 times... tagging along with my honey. But I had never had a tast until yesterday. We ordered two meatball subs on a Wednesday evening, it did not appear to be overly busy but it was dinner time. It took a WHOLE HOUR AND HALF to get our food. Only one of the staff members behind the counter was preparing food, while the other two were on their phones and were rude to customers who tried to speak to them. The young lady told us they had to make more meatballs and that another staff member was preparing them but it was evident that they were not preparing the food and that this one staff member was the only one actually working to fill orders. The most we were offered was a free bag of chips with our food, I would have asked for a discount or even refund given how long we waited but we felt bad for the lady who was actually working, she appeared to be on the brink of tears because of the stress. Many unhappy customers while we were there especially since they were running out of product, and instead of communicating that with customers, they just made sandwiches with missing ingredients. So I don't normally give bad reviews ever . But I had just the worst customer experience I've ever had. I pulled up to firehouse sub to order food for me and my husband, prior to getting there I called in to order ahead ; while on the phone. The person taking my order (who wouldn't tell me her name) kept reminding me and cutting me off saying over and over that they'll be closing in 20 minutes. I understand trying to get out of work but telling their costumer to screw off because they're 20 minutes from closing is absurd to me. When I asked for the lady's name on the phone she wouldn't tell me, when I walked into the store the girl worker there wouldn't tell me her name. When I spoke to the "manager" he wouldn't give me his name and the lady's name. Everyone here is nameless. As someone who runs their own business, I wouldn't let neither of these people work for me. I should've looked in the bag before driving off but the food wasn't up to par . I love me some Firehouse Subs! I typically stick with their steak and cheese sub. Real sautéed steak (not Steak Um crap), with sautéed onions and peppers and melted provolone cheese and mayo ( I skip the deli mustard). Their other subs equally delicious and the service is quick and friendly. They're going to have a little competition now that another favorite, Jersey Mike's has opened in the same shopping center, but sure they'll hold their own. Husband and I usually get a large Firehouse Hero with salami and italian dressing on wheat, to share. It's amazing. Seriously, we tried the Italian and it was very, very good. But we wanted something a little more, so we tried the Hero. Which was also super good. But when we combined them together- yeah, magic happened! It may be the system that requires a certain order, but if that's the case, there are much more creative and polite ways to get the info that you need. In your greeting say, "Hi! Will your order be for here or to go?" followed up with "Would you like a medium or large delicious Firehouse sandwich today?" Something... anything. But basically, pay attention to what I'm saying, repeat the sandwich at the end (and modify if needed) and pretend you give a crap about the fact that you're "listening" to me speak. I like the idea behind Firehouse Subs and the selection of hot sauces, but almost every sandwich I've had from here is SOGGY. The bread is soggy, the meat is soggy, the toppings are soggy, the dressings and/or juices drip all over the paper and down your arms. My boyfriend and I decided to try out this place after a recommendation from one of his friends and I would say it was a good idea. Anyone who knows me well enough knows I'm a picky eater but on a whim I decided to be brave and test out their tuna sub and found it was perfectly made to my taste and liking. I dropped all the other sub ingredients and just went with the mayo to go along with the tuna. The sub roll was crisp but soft enough that it didn't tear apart the roof of my mouth. I was also super excited to try out the soda machine and get a vanilla coke but that was probably the biggest disappointment since the first half of the soda didn't taste very coke-like or vanilliaish. Maybe I should have stirred it up a little to get the full flavor which seemed to appear more toward finishing it. Firehouse Subs is a decent sub place, a nice change from Subway and Quiznos, though I think they are a bit pricier. However, each time I've been there, the food has been very good, and the order has been correct. The soda machines are interesting, but it does seem to bottleneck there. (Added 7/24/14 - When written, I hadn't seen the Freestyle Coke machines before. They have become more commonplace, but can still cause a bottleneck if the restaurant is busy..) It is definitely worth a stop in, and the brisket sub is unique to them as far as I'm aware. I really don't think you can go wrong with ordering anything.
