The staff is very friendly at this location and I love that there's sauce-galore available to go with the subs and fries. I went with the recommendation of my sub maker: The Firehouse Hero It was delicious. I would definitely order that again. And I thoroughly appreciate that they offer fries here as a choice. Don't skip the fries. I ordered a large. Their bread is delicious and fresh. There's ample seating inside and I love that they offer a multitude of help-yourself hot and sweet sauces on the counter to enjoy at the table. This has to be the worst Firehouse Subs experience I've ever had. I stopped here after an appointment on Fleming Island, because it was "Rachel" day and it was BOGO subs if your name is Rachel. Someone sent it to me, and I was glad to see there was a Firehouse Subs just one shopping center over from my appointment. I ordered a tuna sub for me and a hook and ladder for my boyfriend and specified that they were for here. I got just a cup for water, paid, and waited for my order. I noticed the restaurant was silent except for the workers arguing. The one employee was asking for a break to eat or go to the bathroom and the other employee was yelling at her that she wasn't allowed to. It was so awkward since there were other people eating lunch listening to this. A guest came in to pick up an order and asked for the drink that they paid for with the order. The employee literally started yelling at them that the drink is not on the receipt and they can't give her a cup. The customer shows the employee her receipt that says she did pay for a drink. They argue. Then they give her a cup finally. She goes to the pop fountain machine and there is no ice and the machine did not work. Everyone was yelling and it was so so bad. I waited for my sandwiches for about 15 minutes before going up and asking about it. They only had one sandwich ready after all that time and were surprised that I had ordered it there because they thought it was a pick up order. I finally got my sandwiches and ate half of my tuna sub there. It was good, but I couldn't wait to leave after this unpleasant experience. I will never stop here again. Won't be back. Couldn't get his name but he had glasses long black hair and a very poorly maintained beard. He couldve definitely taking some customer service tips from the clearly new trainee. Just tried to get my toddlers sandwich cut in half. The lady was more than willing too. He jumped in said it was against policy. I understand. The lady then goes out of her way to bring us a plastic knife. Me my wife and oldest kid proceeded to hear the guy in question talk disrespectfully about guests and their pick up order. This is the second time within a week that I have ordered a sandwich as a pickup order and had to wait longer than usual for it to be ready. When my son and I walked in both times, the employees looked unkept and complained about having to work. On this particular night, 2/21/25 @ around 8:45 P.M., we went to pick up our order; the soup was cold, and the young lady working was complaining to a customer about having to work on a Friday night; he asked what she would be doing and her response was "doing porn." I found this to be very inappropriate. The employees not looking clean and professional is also a turn-off when going to an eatery. Horrible staff and customer service. Employees was standing around when I came in for a party pack to deliver. One employee finally ask can she help me after 3 minutes of waiting. I told her the order she is working on. One employee was complaining the whole time repeating she is not scared of Sam. Sometimes when you've worked hard all day, and you've almost reached the 'hangry' point, Firehouse Subs can tame that beast. Yesterday I ordered my usual Engineer, and was delighted that Firehouse Subs consistently serves up a great sub, in a timely manner. Order taken quickly, prep area worked quickly and I once again left very satisfied. The vibe is pretty basis at the Fruit Cove location, but clean and comfortable. Went here earlier today for lunch and had an enjoyable time. The staff greeted me as I went in and the guy who took my order was friendly and helpful. I got the Club on a Sub and enjoyed it like I always do. The sandwich came out quickly, the food tasted good and wasn't overly steamed either. First time at Firehouse subs and I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the beef and cheddar brisket. It was AMAZING! The meat was juicy and tender. Good amount of perfectly melted cheese on a soft white (or wheat if you prefer) sub. The bread is narrower than your usual sub sandwich place but longer (in the smaller size). You choose between 8" and 12". My boyfriend got the steak and cheese and absolutely drooled over it the whole time. Additionally, they had the fountain soda with 100+ options. I have been going to fire house for years and love their food, however I tried this location off of Highway 17 at Fleming Island. I specifically ordered a carry out Tuna sandwich with tomatoes only. Thinking that I have always had a good experience I wrote my review on the receipt prior to actually trying my tuna sandwich with raw onions that I can't eat. I called the manager Sara and told her I had repeated my order twice and that my sandwich was made wrong and could make me sick because of the onions. She said she would make me another one so I had to go all the way back into the store. Once I got there I told her I thought the employee after repeating back the order should've made it correctly as food allergies can cause bad issues and a wide range of affects. She then said that it was my responsibility to explain what my allergies are and I told her that part of food service education involves that when a person orders food a certain way that is how it is to be made. No personal explanation needed. She continued to argue with me saying it was my responsibility and then I also said that the person answering the phone could not tell me if your store was on the left or right side of the road so that I could get there. She said I should not expect him to know directions. She said that he was a young boy and I shouldn't expect him to know where the store was located. She said if I didn't want this to happen again that I needed to go into detail about my allergies. I told her no problem this will never happen again I am done!. And I walked out. This is poor customer service. I did not appreciate being blamed for an incorrectly made sandwich or for asking what side of the road they were located . I will not be back! The staff was very friendly and greeted me right away. I ordered the malibu sub and it came out in a reasonable time. Thats the good. Now the not so good. The sub is a cold sub so the ingredients should be very fresh. It comes with spinach and avacado. The spinach was dark green and wilted and slimy and was gross for a cold sandwich and the avacado was like spread as if it was a paste. My most recent visit they wouldn't let me substitute out my combo chips for a cookie, there was no ice in the coke machine, no coke available either, they had no Italian seasoning for my meatball sub! The service is a bit slow but good. They make the sub with what I ask for on it. Overall, Firehouse is one of the better sub places out there.
