Today I stopped in for a quick lunch at the Firehouse Subs on 1604. This was my very first time at this location, as the location on Babcock is closer to my job. I would like to highlight the amazing Customer Service of Charles, the manager and Luke, as well as the other associates upon my arrival. I was greeted warmly and today I utilized the Firehouse reward app and selected a free Large Cajun chicken sandwich. Charles and Luke assisted me and ensured that my chicken sandwich was made to perfection. The sandwich was piping hot and I enjoyed a nice cold lemonade to accompany my sandwich. As I ate, Charles and I struck up a conversation and I found out that he along with several crew members were fellow veterans. I appreciate Firehouse Subs for supporting the military and thank all first responders for their service. I continued to chat with Charles and polished off one half of my sandwich. After gobbling down my first half, Charles grabbed me a to go box for my sandwich and I even grabbed a hug on the way out. I'll definitely return to this awesome location and thank Firehouse Subs for the Rewards that allow us to redeem such excellent goodies. They have really good, warm sandwiches! The sandwiches are great quality and taste delicious! The best option is to order online first and then pick it up in the store (and either eat there or bring it home). They are a little slow from my past couple of experiences, but ordering online through their app was the way to go. Our food was ready when we got there about 20 minutes after placing the order, and we ended up eating in the store. The app made it really easy to customize our sandwiches how we wanted, and you can also collect points in the app to go towards free items! Cashier was training two new workers so while I was ordering, she was calling out instructions to them, which was a bit annoying but at least the process was quick. Menu is clear and easy to choose from. Good variety of chips to accompany your sandwich. Took my order home and the hubby loves the Hook & Ladder sub and was pleased with it yet again. If this comment was directed at me or not, it was unprofessional to laugh and make fun of a customer while others are around. Just so that way management knows that this wasn't cool. My sister and I were waiting for an online order. We were there pretty early and knew we would have to wait. We were texted the order was ready around 6:50. Didn't see anything. I had went to stand next to the pick up order section. Most employees looked at me, yet didn't ask to see if I needed anything. Understandable, so I went to the cash register. Ask for the order, was told it was being worked on. Confused because the text said ready... moving on. I go back and stand near the to go pick up. I see an order being packed and one of the employees put a to go order on the stand. NOW, I went up to just check the bag and see if it was our order, due to being told our order was being worked on. I went to just CHECK the bag... was told that's not your order. Okay cool.. so I step back. After stepping back, one of the employees, decides to say OUT LOUD, "I can't believe that lady tried to take that bag." And her and her fellow coworkers started to laugh... while Im standing there. That is highly disrespectful and as a customer, that is something I definitely do not like and I did not want to make a scene. It's not right to do that in front of any customer and that's unprofessional. At least wait until the customer leaves or say it in the back. read more

I've given this firehouse so many chances. Honestly I just feel as though it won't change. I went in a few night ago, Antonio was rude rushing me thru our order because it was 15 minutes to closing. Food and service were fine the only issue was this location doesn't have any kid meal specials. Other locations kids eat free on Sundays and others kid meals are .99 cents after 4pm. But here nothing. Came here on a Sunday and we pasted the one on 1604 &. Bandera that had kids meals for .99 cents. Just going to make a mental note to only come to this one alone. read more

I love firehouse subs ... but this location struggles to keep me as a customer. It could just be the weekend crew, but they gave me a terrible sandwich. When I first walked in, they were too busy flirting and joking around to take my order. I wanted my sub made to my liking so I ordered it with everything plus pickles and Italian dressing. Warning....serious health hazard! Please DO NOT eat here! I came to this Firehouse yesterday after shopping at Academy. When I walked in I was surprised that I was the only customer at the time. There were 3 staff behind the counter. I walked to the register to place my order. I got the combo so I grabbed my chips and filled my cup with a drink while I patiently waited for my order at the table to dine in. My order was taking a while. I was by myself so I watched tv on their monitor for a bit, then paid more attention to the restaurant and noticed that the floor was extremely dirty. I noticed dirty napkins, lots of food droppings on the floor and some other trash. I said to myself, I am the only customer here. So obviously it is not busy in the store at all, but no one is cleaning up. Then I wondered if my sandwich was almost ready, so I turned my attention to the staff behind the counter to see if they were working on my order. While I was watching them, I see one of the male staff lift his hat off. He was wearing gloves on both hands because they are required to do so when handling food. He took one of his gloved hand and ran it through his long greasy hair a couple of times then put his hat back on. I watched him even closer this time to see if he was going to change his gloves because this will be the same person making my sandwich. He did NOT change his gloves, then he proceeded to scratch the inside of his nose and wiped his face with the same gloved hand. So I walked to the counter quickly and with a purpose just to ensure he will not be making my sandwich. When I approached and looked over the counter, I see him holding the bread in one hand and touching the hot meat with the hand he just touched his hair and nose with. I told him and the girl behind the counter that I no longer want that sandwich. She asked me why, and I looked directly at the male staff and told him exactly what I saw him do. I was extremely shocked and told him he cannot do that because he just contaminated my food and it was unsanitary. He apologized and changed his gloves. The female said she would get rid of the sandwich and make me a new one. I went straight to the register and told the other male staff that I wanted my money back. He gave it back to me without a fuzz. As I left the restaurant, I was extremely disappointed because I am sure this is a standard practice at this location when they think no one is watching. Customer service at this location is horrible. No one greets you, when you walk up to order the cashier just stares at you waiting for you to tell them your order, and when the food comes out they just drop it on the table and walk off. I've been to this location several times and it's the same thing every visit. My kids love eating here so we come whenever they crave it. They love getting a new hat and pretending to be firemen.
