My friends and I stopped by Firehouse Subs on a Tuesday night about an hour before their closing time. Ordering was very easy. I felt like the place was clean, but could use the once-over that would come with the closing time clean up. The staff was nice. I really enjoyed my sandwich and I liked that it was warm/toasted and not over sauced. My friend has to eat a gluten-free diet and, unfortunately, they were out of gluten-free bread that night but she was able to order a sandwich bowl that had no bread but all the other parts of a sandwich. She said it was good and in the future, nice to know that Firehouse offers gluten-free bread for those that need it. I'm really glad I tried out Firehouse and know that it is an option the next time I'm in the area. read more

Place was deserted on a Sunday at 5pm. Don't know if that's a good sign or not. Place was clean and smelled so good! Staff was not very confident in doing her job. I could barely hear what she was asking me. I ordered 2 subs and asked for a glass for water. Not sure how asking for a water glass resulted in a $2.49 charge, but okay... asked for order to go. When they were placed in the bag, the gal handed it over with grease all over her gloves which soaked into the paper bag and I had no where to grab a dry or clean spot. Uhg... maybe some retraining of this staff member could be in order. Subs were overall okay. Wish they had been toasted more. May be back... may not. Will depend on my mood. Definitely better than subway. But not as good as Jersey Mike's in my opinion. read more

The food is good, don't get me wrong. However, one of the staff members was very unprofessional. I have anxiety and I do not appreciate when people enjoy making other people feel uncomfortable. The employee started with a long speech of how I have to shake there hand and fist pump him before I can order. (Honestly I was ok with it and I thought he was being funny) but then, it wasn't funny anymore, it became aggressive. Some examples being, I wanted my boyfriend to order for me because he knows what I like and I do not like ordering because of my anxiety. I was told they could not take my order because I'm capable of looking at the menu and ordering myself. additionally, he said its too complicated for them so I have to order myself. My question is, how is this any different than ordering for your child or making a order to go for family at home? Another reason for my poor review was, I could tell other people around us, where uncomfortable. After some time, I watched him flirt with a girl waiting for a sandwich and then approaching a couple by leaning on there table and guilt tripping the woman for not finishing her sandwich. After enjoying my sandwich (that I had to order myself) the employee approached me and my boyfriend, making a comment about our water cup size. The employee said, " aww how cute, let me get you a big man cup!" Precedes to only give a bigger cup for my boyfriend and not me, as he slams it onto the table. I have anxiety and I do not appreciate feeling less of. I just wanted a sandwich. I came there to enjoy and I did not. I have never had a problem with this place before. I have read the reviews about the service but the truth is the preparation of the food is their problem (This is why they lost the Merle Hay location). The food here is never prepared properly and they should sell it to a more experienced operator (There are great owners in the Kansas City north area they could sell it to but they will not do this they will all eventually close). read more

I have eaten at a lot of firehouse sub locations in my day, mainly in North Carolina and Florida. I read a lot of negative reviews of this particular version most having to do with rude service and slow sandwich preparation. I experienced neither the slow nor the rude during this visit. I will admit that I was there at a pretty low volume time with only a few customers and only one in front of me who ordered. That said, the sandwich seemed to be prepared at about the same rate of speed as any other location. I basically chose to eat here because I generally like Firehouse, it was only about a 60 second walk from my hotel and I felt like something easy that I could grab, walk back to the room and eat. Once I dug in I experienced a sandwich that was as good as any other Firehouse sub I've had with plenty of meat and prepared as I ordered it so, all in all, I was a happy customer. read more

**Military Discount given So, we have been waiting for this place to open up since we found out they were building near us. We used to go to a Firehouse Subs in Vegas all the time when we lived there. We loved it there! But the Firehouse here? The decor and store looks similar to others we have been to, but the service? Not so much. The Service: Slow. Two of the staff members there need to learn to smile. Not just stand there with an "I don't want to be here" face. The wait time was a little longer than should be with the amount of people there. The other two people that interacted with us were nice though. The Food: #4 Italian - 3/5 The flavors were similar to what I remember! Good, but they over-did it with the sauce and mayo. If you are ordering to go, ask for the sauce/dressing on side. All in all, I would order again. Cheddar and Brisket - 3/5 We asked for the bbq sauce on the side for this one, so the flavors were good! Would also get this again! We will be back to give this place another try. We just hope the service will be faster. read more

I'm starting my review as we wait for our sandwich. When I stepped up to the counter I was greeted with "it's going to be about twenty minutes for a sandwich." Nothing like discouraging a potential customer! Way to go Manager guy!! I ordered and my receipt is time stamped at 1:24. It is now 1:47 and we've witnessed at least five people ask the status of their sandwiches. In a restaurant with only 12 tables, this seems like a lot. The manager has convinced three customers that it wasn't worth the wait. Finally after waiting 28 minutes we got our sandwich. I'd like to note that people that came in 15 and 20 minutes after us had their sandwiches just a few minutes later. We ordered the Hook and Ladder. It was a tasty sandwich which is the only reason there will be two stars on this review. In the time we waited, we didn't see ten sandwiches put out. We saw one to go order go out. For a counter service restaurant this is ridiculous. Also, there was not a smile from anyone on the staff. There was no apology or excuse, other than "we're busier than we thought." I'd understand if something was broken, like a toaster or the slicer shorted out. But the general indifference was infuriating. I don't know if it's worth a return trip. To Firehouse Subs, let me save you time for your other possible customers. Don't copy and paste that you are sorry you didn't provide outstanding and heartfelt service. I've been to a couple of Des Moines area Firehouse Subs. Both are great, but today's visit particularly so. Their meatball sandwich is the best I've ever had. Just be sure to let it cool off a bit before you take a bite. Marinara and cheese tend to cling to the skin. Got to appreciate their support of firemen. Give them a try. read more

Great sub. I had the brisket be sub and this is one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. Served with and hot. The sauce on the sandwich had a great flavor. I like the round up for a fund raiser and selling the pickle buckets is a great idea. Stop in for a great sandwich and support some local causes. I look forward to returning. read more

I wanted to like this place and waited a couple weeks after they opened so the kinks of a new restaurant would be worked out. To say it's slow is an understatement. It took over 20 minutes after ordering to get a sub. There wasn't any kind of "sorry we're slow" from staff. There isn't anything special about their sandwiches or really anything that sets it apart from a subway or Jimmy Johns other than its more expensive. Just tried the new location out by Jordan Creek. I have been to only one other firehouse subs and that was in Louisville KY. Came in twenty minutes before I had to get back to work not knowing that I would be late back to work! The front cashier had not a clue what she was doing and there was only one person ahead of me so I thought it wouldn't be too long, plus they had three workers behind the counter so I thought it would be pretty quick. After 25 minutes later my sub was done and I was late back to work. Food is great but the speed of service is awful. I mean I don't expect them to be jimmy johns quick but how long does it take to make a sub???? Don't go here if your on a time crunch because YOU WILL be late getting to wherever your going read more

I was parked in front of the store before 9 PM. I was calling up my free birthday sub on my phone. I am a disabled four-year Iraqi war veteran. I was hobbling up to the door when the rotund male sandwich maker locked the door in my face. I knocked on the door and he ignored me. I knocked and knocked for 4 more minutes and he ignored me. Finally he said, We're closed. I told him that I would call his corporate office and he walked away. I would asked that all of my comrades in arms boycott this chain. The place is clean and decor is fun. I got the meatball with pepperoni and it was fantastic. The bread is amazing. It seems to be fresh from the oven, so maybe that's why it takes more than 2 minutes to get your food as others have written. I think I waited 10 minutes and it was well worth it. Stood in line at 1:45pm on a Sunday for about 10 mins. When I got to the counter I was told by the employee before I could utter a word "The wait is going to be a long time." When I asked how long she meant by long she told me 30 mins. I looked around the restaurant and it was full but nothing too crazy. She was the only one working the register, there was another employee making sandwiches and a third employee standing in the dinning area with a look on his face like a deer in headlights. Needless to say we left so I can't comment on the food sadly. I could go sit at a restaurant with a waitress and still receive our food within 30 mins. I have eaten at Firehouse Subs a few times in other locations and came to regard the Italian Sub as one of my all-time favorites. I was thrilled to learn that there was a location close by my office, so I went there a few times and was generally please with the sub and the service. The last (Emphasis: Last) time I went to this location I wanted to get and Italian to go as I had a conference call that I needed to get on at 1:00 PM. I arrived at this Firehouse Sub location at 12:36 PM, which I figured was plenty of time based on the proximity of my office and the relatively short wait I had the previous two times I had visited. When I went in it was moderately busy, the table were 1/2 occupied and there was one person in line to order, so I confidently joined the queue happy in the belief that this whole thing would be done in 5 minutes, 10 tops. Within 3 minutes (12:39 PM) my order was taken and paid for, so I was given my receipt and drink cup, and I immediately went to their Coke Freestyle Machine and whipped up a Peach Mello Yello Zero, the perfect drink to wash down an Italian sub. After taken a couple of quick hits of my PMYZ I walked to the back of the counter to wait for my sub to be made...and that's where I saw it. Gathered in one spot were all of the customers that had placed orders before me and will still waiting for their food. Based on their expressions and the number of times they checked their phones, I immediately knew my making it back to the office before 1:00 was in jeopardy. So I became another member of the Firehouse Subs Gulag of customers who had paid but were now at the mercy of the staff to get their subs before the sun went down. Slowly the minutes ticked by, and precious few in the Gulag had received the reprieve of a toasty hot sub. The frustration mounted as we witnessed people who had ordered after us received their food before we did, maybe they were relatives or knew of some Fast Pass technology like Space Mountain at Disneyland. Either way, this did nothing but make us even more restless. Looking at the staff I saw no sense of urgency as they prepared the food. I didn't expect them to be moving like they were trying to defuse a bomb or anything like that, but something more than an early Sunday morning pace. I though about going up and asking for my money back, but I figured this might have taken longer then getting my sub, so I quickly dismissed it. Finally, at 12:58 PM, 19 minutes after I had placed my order, my time had finally come to leave the Gulag, my order was ready, Praise Jeebus. When I picked it up I was offered a half-hearted "Sorry about the wait" from the counter staff, to which I quickly replied, "You can read about it in the review". I waved a final goodbye to my Gulag mates, having shared an experience few can fully understand. I finally made it back to the office at 1:08 PM and made my conference call that had started without me eight minutes earlier. After my call was done I immediately looked at my receipt and filled out the online survey in which I spoke of my experience in glowing terms like "Slow" "Dissatisfied" and "Disappointing". I marked that I wanted to be contacted about my experience.....I'm still waiting. I gave this review two stars instead of one based on my total experiences rather than just the last (Emphasis: Last) visit I made to this particular location. I just cannot trust them to deliver their food in a reasonable (15 minutes or less, and that generous to begin with) amount of time, which is unfortunate, as I still jones for that Italian Sub. read more

Absolutely rude service by the woman checking us out. She did not great us, I had to ask if she was ready to take my order. She looked at me like I was bothering her. I ordered, and she didn't ask if I wanted a meal, what I wanted on the sandwich or anything. She then took my fiancés order and did the same thing asking no questions and acting annoyed that we were there. Said said price and we paid then stood there waiting for our glasses. She just stood staring and didn't say anything until I finally said do we get a glass for our drinks. She handed them to us and still said no words to us.
