Really good diner. Just off 81 south of Syracuse. It's on the Onondaga nation and there were quite a few native Americans working, not sure if it's native owned but I'm guessing yes. Everyone was super friendly and the service was great. Lots of counter space to eat at which I love. It was busy, even at 10AM but service was quick. Menu is typical diner fare. I got the breakfast meat lovers scramble and the biscuits and gravy. The breakfast scramble was good but the biscuits and gravy were great- highly recommend! Everything from Firekeepers is delicious. All homemade. The service is excellent and friendly. Dinner came fast. It's really nice inside, rustic diner atmosphere, with lots of tables and counter service. They are renovating the front, so drive around the back and use those doors. There was a board with daily specials that looked great too. Chicken with biscuits. Chicken salad. Homemade soup. I had the turkey dinner. This tastes like you remember. Homemade gravy, stuffing, potatoes, real carved Turkey. It was awesome. This is a wonderful diner with breakfast, lunch and dinner from 7 am until 7 pm just off Rt 81 on the Onondaga Nation. Stopped here on the way to the strawberry festival. Got steak and eggs breakfast for $12. Perfectly cooked medium rare, great steak, substituted grits for the home fries, they were cooked perfectly as well. Eggs over easy were just a smidge runny but it didn't bother me. All in all, it was THE best breakfast / brunch, whatever you wanna call it, I've had in... Well, I can't even remember how long it was that good! Service was pretty good, my wife got a little irritated when the waitress took a little long to get our boxes but I didn't think much of it. Love the ambience, whenever we come here I always find these 315 rocks with these awesome inspirational sayings on them. They always end up being really deep, profound messages that really, truly speak to my life experience. The one I found today really touched me. This place is always amazing! The restaurant burnt down years ago so they rebuilt it as a log cabin, the interior walls are beautiful. Everything is very clean and everyone that works there is friendly and hospitable. Every meal I've had there is delicious! During this visit, I had the Frittata and it's so simple but done so well. Firekeepers has such a warm & cozy vibe to it. I honestly felt like I was amongst family while dining here. The staff were super friendly & attentive. The restaurant is very clean, open & bright. This is a seat yourself establishment. Within 2 minutes of seating ourselves, someone was over with menus, and to take our drink order, this level of service continued throughout our meal. The food is very tasty and extremely affordable! Not a single item on the menu was priced over $15. How amazing is that?!?! I am looking forward to returning to try out their hot turkey sandwich and mac & cheese. I've been here many times but always lose out on the pie! I heard it's homemade locally and every time I try to get a slice they are all out. Today was my lucky day!!! They had chocolate cream, coconut cream, apple and blueberry. I choose chocolate cream and it was just perfect. I also had a bowl of New England clam chowder but the pie was the star!! I've been craving a hot turkey sandwich and found out they serve the real deal here. Seat yourself, so I did and almost immediately I had someone come over for my drink order. Then my server came with a menu. Everyone was extremely friendly and the restaurant is so clean. The specials were up on the wall, Fish Dinner - Fish Sandwich - Macaroni and cheese - New England clam chowder. I had to have the hot turkey! A very nice serving of real carved turkey on bread, home-made mashed potatoes, a small side of cranberry sauce and plenty of gravy. I hadn't been to the Firekeepers Restaurant in a long time and now I want to make it one of my regular spots. Good food with nice portion sizes. Everything is reasonably priced. I had breakfast for lunch - breakfast sandwich with ham on a English muffin. The ham was a thick slice and not just deli meat! And the home fries were tasty. My lunch buddy has the BLT, and that was a quite a sandwich! I'm impressed that she are the whole thing. BTW We didn't have dessert, the the desserts are huge! Wow! The waitstaff was friendly and attentive. Best of all they didn't make us feel rushed. The atmosphere is pleasant. I like all the natural light. Returned from a long weekend away this past Sunday and Firekeepers was the obvious choice after a long morning of travel. We love this spot for breakfast or lunch on a Saturday or Sunday. You seat yourself and are able to choose from classic favorites at affordable prices (seriously- the bill blows us away every time). Cash only, but ATM inside comes in handy in a pinch! I recommend the BLT, with French fries and a side of beef gravy. The buffalo chicken salad is also great. Always a 5 star experience for us here! read more

Awhile back we had a restaurant called Smoke Signals located directly across from the I-81 southbound exit for Nedrow. Fast forward a few years and it has reopened as Firekeepers. Our senior breakfast club of about 20 has come here twice and liked it so much we decided to try a turkey dinner offered at lunch. The turkey was at least 3 thick slices like it had come fresh from the farm. The mashed potatoes real also. Most of us opted for the side of carrots, cooked very nicely, not mushy or hard. The stuffing got mixed reviews. I loved them because after suffering through endless wet bread versions all my life I finally got one that was a bit crispy and very tasty. On the side we got generous shared bowls of cranberry sauce. I'd give this meal at least 4 1/2 stars and look forward to returning. We had both a waitress and a beverage server due to our group size. They were both friendly and efficient. And with us older people kept a good sense of humor. This place has been expanded and fully remodeled - very clean and for its expanded space quite cozy. It stands alone but still has a neighborhood feel. I would highly recommend it. Oh, and you won't need to take out a loan to eat here...great prices and great food. read more

Great place right off exit 16 of I 81 (Nedrow). Spotlessly clean throughout including comfy , large rest rooms with bright mirrors, lights, hot water, soap and paper towels. Breakfast was great. Egg Sandwiches, Omelettes and a wide variety of breads, breakfast platters etc. Terrific coffee with a very friendly staff ready to pour refills. As a bonus, very reasonable prices. I have not been here in ages, and all i can remember from then was the odor. Well, smelled fine on this trip and even though we came for the fish dinner (which everyone else got) I got the liver and onions. Delicious liver and onions, it is a scary dish to order since most places do not make it well, but they nailed it. I did not try the fish, but everyonr who ordered it enjoyed their meal. My husband has been wanting to try this place every time we pass it on 81. We finally did, and I don't think we will be returning: the main reason being that even the non smoking side smells like an ashtray. I am all for people making their own decision as far as smoking, if that's what you wanna do power to you! But I definitely don't wanna be smelling it while I'm eating breakfast, or doing anything else for that matter. Could they perhaps close off the "smoking side" with a door so the rest of us don't have to suffer? Just an idea. The food was average for diner type food. I had a bacon egg and cheese sandwich, my husband had an omelette. It was decent but wasn't anything crazy good that we have to come back for. Service was below average. Firekeepers is on Native American territory so smoking is allowed in one area. The recent remodeling made it so it is no longer necessary to walk thru the smoking section on your way to your table if you are a non-smoker, as I am. The odor coming from the smoking section is not too bad, but you will smell it on your clothes when you get home. We have been going for the Friday night buffet where you get all you can eat for $16.95. The centerpiece of the buffet is a prime rib serving station where you can get your money's worth from that alone. Other dishes rotate every week, but there is always some sort of pasta, chicken, seafood, and pork. There is a salad section with limited dressing choices, a few vegetable dishes and desserts. The handicapped entrance is in the rear and is usually full (with a lot of people who I suspect do not need handicap parking). I'm looking forward to trying the weekend breakfast buffet one of these days. read more

Plenty of not good food :( I got the skillets pictured. The home fries were boiled and soggy. The bread was soggy. My son barely touched his food. The waitress was sweet but she dropped the food off and wasn't seen again. I never got a refill of coffee. We couldn't get water or hot sauce as no one came anywhere near our table. We left our full plates and had to seek out how to pay after a long wait. When I paid my check, the woman was on the phone and never spoke to me. read more

We visit about twice a month for lunch. The food is very good and reasonably priced. The Native American decor is a nice touch. My only issue (hence only 4 stars) is that it is always cold I assume that is because of the ventilation for the smoking area. It makes for a good reason to have some of their homemade soup. There's two sections, smoking and non smoking. Everyone sits in the smoking section. That's the heart of the diner. I ordered a Bison Burger. It was delicious. Ordered it medium well (recommended). Highly recommend fried fish on Friday, all you can eat prime rib buffet on Saturday, or breakfast buffet Sunday. Can't go wrong with any option. Walked in to see Rachel Ray playing on the T V and to find a clean ,homey and spacious Resturant. I wanted a scrambled egg sandwich . I had to order ala cate from "sides". 2 eggs scrambled 'fluffy' and a grilled hard roll. Waited almost 25 mins and sorry now I didn't take a photo. I GOT EGG SCRAMBLED ON THE THE GRILL THEN VERY FINELY CHOPPED BY THE SPATULA, AND A GRILLED HAMBURGER BUN . NOW REMEMBER "RACHAEL RAY" WAS PLAYING ON THE T V. THE WHOLE TIME.
