Went here on Veterans Day to catch up with a friend. I believe this is my second time getting Korean AYCE BBQ. The rarity it is for me to come to Silver Spring but it was worth it. I wasn't a fan of the wait but we were eventually seated. It was kinda dark in the restaurant, gave off blue light vibes. We ordered the option A (it was 24.99 or 29.99, can't recall) 90 minutes lunch special & partook in the all day 50% off Happy Hour for drinks. I must say I was highly impressed with the food and the drinks. We also got the Fall season themed drinks (also 1/2 off for Happy Hour) & they were FANTASTIC. Of course I had to get the Pumpkin Spice expresso. I would definitely come back again and get full as a tick again. I couldn't tell you the distance from the Silver Spring Metro because I drove.

Wenthere during a recent visit to see friends. I'll give it 4 stars. If you're expecting a traditional authentic Korean BBQ, this is probably not the place for you. Firepan is more of a modern spin on KBBQ. We got the all you can eat, which is a great deal. You can pick any of the meats and you get. I would recommend the soy and spicy marinated meats. The kimchi is ok, but you won't get the 8 or so banchands that you would at other places. Our server was excellent and I don't remember her name. She was attentive and gave us a rundown of what to expect. She brought most things promptly but it was a busy night. Parking maybe challenging but you can also take the metro. All in all, I'd probably go back again. But my KBBQ pocket is only half full.

Of course as a first timer I was excited to see the hype. It's definitely hyped sadly I couldn't enjoy my entire experience because it was super busy being Valentines Day evening but even with that the server was forgetful, and wasn't really attentive to the table. We ordered the steak & chicken , also sushi rolls the sushi 10/10 !! Definitely worth a try and the K-Steak was delicious very tasty. The only issue was the Chicken it wasn't flavorful and was very easy to burn on the grill. I have to return for a better experience because it wasn't bad just busy and I understand crazy nights happen

We had a fun experience at Firepan. I thought mostly everything we had was good, including the strawberry soju and old-fashioned. The bar looked nice and I'd stop in for just a drink. Salad and kimchi were delicious. We all liked our meats. I recommend skipping the Korean fried chicken. I thought it was going to be Bonchon-style, but it was very lackluster and not even close. Server was friendly, though inattentive. We definitely had trouble flagging her and getting more water, etc. It also took forever for the check to come. We went early enough so there was not a wait, but I definitely recommend reservations. I'd return if wanting KBBQ and not wanting to drive to Rockville.

Went to Firepan for a nice weeknight dinner. The restaurant was mostly empty and quiet but more people started to come in as the evening got later. We ordered the Option A which is All-You-Can-Eat and included different cuts of chicken, pork, and beef. Our server was very attentive and our meats came out quickly. While it's not the best KBBQ in the area you get a lot of value for what you are paying. I would put it on the same level as Iron Age for KBBQ in the MD suburbs.

TLDR: One of the best AUCE KBBQ spots in MoCo. Excellent service, quality meats and reasonable price for the selection. Vibe: 5/5 - Firepan is located in the heart of downtown Silver Spring, so come prepared to street park or garage. Fortunately, there is a huge garage across the street from the restaurant that is reasonably priced which we opted for. Firepan has a deceivingly small storefront that can be easily missed, however once you are inside the restaurant goes deep within the building. With around 2 dozen grill tables, Firepan gets popping at peak hours. My party of 12 were able to comfortably sit at 2 adjacent tables for our 8pm reservation. The restaurant is well laid out, clean and perfect for groups both small and large. Service: 5/5. The Firepan staff were very accommodating from start to finish. My party of 12 had staggered arrival times for our 8pm reservation, however the hostess was able to seat us after we had more than 50% of our party present. The reservation process was also a breeze, as we had to call it in due to the size and they were able to accommodate our 2 tables adjacent request. Our server did a fantastic job keeping our group happy with taking meat orders, drinks and fresh grill pans. This is a grill yourself KBBQ experience vs. the server doing the cooking, so be forewarned. Bonus points for the staff accommodating a birthday with free dessert (ice cream for the table) and candles! Food: 5/5. In a sea of AUCE KBBQ restaurants in MoCo, Nova and DC, Firepan is a solid contender for best in show. My group was impressed not only with the quality of meats they use, but the selection was also robust enough to keep is happily munching away for the full 2 hour dinner duration. Highlights included the chadol brisket and the thin sliced pork belly which are staples for any KBBQ but when done right are amazing. The banchan and side items were also noteworthy. The kimchi was crisp and tart, the steamed egg was perfectly umami and the rice cakes were spicy and chewy as they should be. We opted for the most expensive all inclusive menu which included premium items such as bulgogi sushi and calamari which were tasty as well. Overall, if you're group of big eaters is in the mood for elevated AUCE KBBQ, Firepan has you covered!

The decor was lovely and the ambiance represented an upscale experience in my opinion. They even offered free champagne and it was good! My friend and I tried: the Sticky Ribs Suya, Jerk-Braised Short Ribs with Curry Pea Risotto, Oxtail Mac & Cheese, and the Suya-Spiced Lamb Chops. All of the food was absolutely delicious, my only gripe would be that the lamb chops didn't come with enough green beans. The "Up All Night" (their version of an espresso martini) was also pretty good. Next time, I'd opt to get a traditional espresso martini though. Lastly, the service was outstanding. Our waitress was very kind, attentive, and timely. We even left her an extra tip. If I had to make a suggestion, the big ape could be moved elsewhere. It really does take up too much space.

The menu has shrunk significantly and what's left doesn't justify the price point. $20 for deviled eggs? And nearly everything is paired with grits, which is interesting for a restaurant billing itself as African and Asian fusion. I brought a Nigerian friend along and we were both equally confused by that creative direction. Safe to say grits aren't exactly a staple. We were told about off-menu options tomahawk, ribeye (out of stock), and branzino. We went with the branzino and a potato hash that turned out to be exactly what it sounds like: cut up potatoes and what tasted like powdered eggs straight from a hotel breakfast buffet. The branzino needed salt, pepper AND hot sauce to get there, that's not a seasoning preference.. The ambience and decor remain the highlight genuinely a beautiful space. But a pretty room can only carry so much. I wanted to love this place. I really did. But I don't think a third visit is in the cards.

None of us were from this area, and we intended to go to the Mayflower Chinese Restaurant, based on Yelp reviews. However, once we walked in the door, it was apparent this place was focused on carryout, and there was no way we were staying to eat in their dingy entrance area. We walked next door to the Meleket Ethiopian restaurant. However, the place was deserted, and we didn't stay there either. We tried the Lime & Cilantro, the next place down, but it was packed and couldn't handle our group. So, we skipped past the verernary clinic and went to Spring Garden. And, what a great choice that was. They offer a huge menu of Chinese, Thai, and Japanese meals. Everything is reasonably priced. Once we got our food, we were impressed with the quality and portion sizes. And, through it all, the service was prompt and friendly. I ordered Hot and Sour soup (my bellwether for Chinese restaurants) and beef chow fun. The soup was flavorful without being overpowering, and the chow fun was delicious too. I liked everything so much that I ordered another soup and Thai Basil with Chicken to go, and that's been my lunch for the past couple of days. Don't be put off by the seediness of its location. The predominant flavor of the kimchi jjigage was gochugaru. The haemul pajeon didn't have much seafood and came with several burnt spots. The japchae was extremely oily and included very few vegetables. I make better Korean food at home just by watching Maangchi videos. Speaking of videos, the only reason I found this place was through a TikTok, which offered a rave review and showed a packed restaurant. I guess this is how I know FoodTok has officially reached the mainstream, because I'm seeing more and more staged scenarios and dubious opinions. The only thing anybody had anything positive to say about was the rice, which was technically perfect. There is an old adage that goes, "you can judge a restaurant based on how well they cook their rice." But if you have a table full of food and the only thing people want to finish is the rice, then you've got a whole other problem.
