Honest and Highly Reputable Company We have not used two fireplaces for over twenty years in our home and wanted to have them cleaned and inspected. We hired Fireplace Freddie after their quick response to our request for a quote, their positive reviews, and their policy to put the cost of an inspection towards any work to be done. After being told that both fireplaces were dangerous for use, I expected to get a sales pitch on repairing both. Not only did Reozo listen to my initial comments about cost, but he also seemed genuinely sad to tell me the results of the inspection. He suggested a topper be placed over one chimney to avoid hidden water damage and applied the inspection cost to the small fee associated with the work. When we called the store to find out why no one had contacted us to do the work we were told the estimate was now changed to "not a penny less than $5,000." We got another bid and we're able to have the work completed for just under $800 and we are beyond happy with the work and the fair price! read more

I had an inspection and minor work done by another very popular fireplace company, which was fine, but Fireplace Freddie came recommended from a friend and they were great! I was quoted 1900. for having the chimney mortar cracks filled by this other company and Fireplace Freddie did it for 1200, without me even telling them the first quote. It is so weird that this company's ratings are so bifurcated at either 1 or 5 stars. I wish I had read the 1-star reviews more carefully. I rarely give 1's, but there are 2 major reasons why. First, they are basically non-responsive. They came out for the inspection, then told us to call back. We call, then they promise to get back to us, but never do. This goes on for a dozen calls over several weeks. Finally, after this run around for almost a month, someone calls me back, gives me a quote and asks me to commit in the next few days. He promises to send me a written quote so that I can confer with my wife, yet I never hear back. If they want the business so urgently, why not send the info??? Second, the quote was far beyond our expectations. We're expecting a minor repair for a few hundred dollars. Instead, the contractor comes in with a quote for about $8,000 to do a full renovation, which according to him, is required to bring the unit up to code. Now, perhaps we might seriously consider the renovation, but of course, we have no quote. I guess he really doesn't want the business. This company really has me scratching my head. read more

We had called a couple of other service vendors out to our home to fix a possible gas leak in or near our fireplace only to have each one provide us with an outrageous price to fix the problem without even doing an inspection. Recently purchased a home with a fireplace / chimney that needed a lot of work before it could be safely used as a wood-burning fireplace. Several friends told me that Fireplace Freddie was the best and that I should call them about the repairs. Edgar and Jose did a great job repairing the concrete crown, sealing all the cracks along the masonry surfaces, and cleaning / recoating the entire smoke chamber from top to bottom. It was a bigger job that normally takes 2 days but they were able to get it done in a single trip. The next week another member of the team, Scott, came out to perform the follow-up inspection and fire check. Initially, there was a poor draft issue which caused a small amount of smoke to roll out of the front of the fireplace. Scott had seen this before and was able to make some additional adjustments to the fireplace that increased the draft and solved the problem. Fireplace works great now. This company is a complete FRAUD! They came into my complex quoting every homeowner a wide range of repair prices. Renzo stuck a camera in my fireplace for 5 mins and said it will cost $16,000 to get this in working condition because the fireplace can't be repaired and needs to be rebuilt. Today I had Fiddler on the Roof come out. James did a 2 hour inspection, climbed down my chimney and told me it can definitely be repaired for a couple grand. The inspection report on our recently purchased home revealed some significant deficiencies on the inside of the fireplace. The inspector estimated the cost to repair somewhere north of $8,000. We received a recommendation/referral from our realtor for Fireplace Freddie. We couldn't be happier with their work. Renzo came out to do a thorough inspection and gave us a detailed quote with an explanation of all of the steps required to get it back to 100%. He let us know it would be a multi-day process, and how long each day the guys would be at the house. The guys who did the work were very respectful of our home, being sure to cover furniture and flooring with protective plastic each day. I think this place runs a scam on you. Had a guy come over and tell me I need to rebuild the entire chimney because the exterior masonry is unstable. Other inspectors didn't think so. But who knows who is saying the correct course of action is. It's an old house, so they may be right.. just skeptical that is all. But their service was good and he went to the roof and crawlspace to inspect. He failed in sending me an inspection report because I told the tech that I wouldn't be doing the rebuild. read more

We hired FF to repair and restore our fireplace in our 1931 Spanish style home. They did a fantastic job. They replaced the flue and re-mortared the bricks. The workers were professional and worked clean which I appreciated. Also, they gave us a CD with video of how everything looked on the inside of our chimney which was great! We had a minor issue where a small crack developed after the first year we used it, but they came back and didn't charge us and it was no big deal at all :) We have been enjoying beautiful and safe fires in our fireplace and we are ready for a cozy El Niño! read more

READ THIS BEFORE YOU HIRE THIS COMPANY. I had these guys out 2 days ago to inspect our fireplaces and tell me what needs to be done to get them up to code and working. I know that they need work. I was told that when we bought the house. Not a surprise. We've never lit a fire in either fireplace. I will not go into every detail but I will tell you my quote: $8,920. Nope not to run new pipes or any major work, this was just to replace the stainless steel cap on top of the chimney and put stainless steel screen in the caps. EIGHT THOUSAND, NINE HUNDRED AND TWENTY DOLLARS!!! I don't know how the guy could look me in the eye when telling me -- EIGHT THOUSAND, NINE HUNDRED AND TWENTY DOLLARS to replace a cap and screens. And this quote did not even include opening the top cap to see if the pipes need to be replaced or if they're braced or what needs to get done to get these fireplaces to code. They charged me for the inspection and talked me into a cleaning which I didn't need if I'm not using the fireplace. These guys are first class, A-1, five star SHARKS. The only reason I got this quote is because of my zip code. Hey, Freddie, I didn't get to live in a nice neighborhood because I'm stupid. BEFORE YOU HIRE THIS COMPANY: Get multiple estimates. The technician was able to come out an hour earlier which worked out much better for me. He described the inspection process and was able to troubleshoot why my gas fireplace wasn't working. Both fireplaces are now in good working order. He did a very thorough job, even going on the rooftop to inspect the top of the chimney.
