I do not live in the area but frequently visit my elderly parents who live there. We often are looking to go out to get something to eat and that is one of the few places that is close by been there four or five times now each time the food is getting worse and worse. The last time we were there, our food was barely edible and service was horrible. Food was horribly overpriced $7for one scoop of ice cream that barely fills the small cup? this is not NYC! local people in the area have also complained about the prices and quality of food going down..but to be fair I did give it one last try. My mom had the stuffed shrimp which was four tiny shrimp with mounds of stuffing, no crab which was advertised,she could not eat it but was too embarrassed to send it back. I had chicken cordon blue...sauce on the Cordon Bleu was like papier-mâché. I also could not eat my meal and brought it home for the dog...We sat at our table with dirty dishes in front of us for 15 minutes while young girls giggled to each other instead of taking care of their tables until my brother finally had to ask someone clear the plates. The lasagna is home made but lacks cheese; couldn't see any. more noodles than anything, which were gummy, big chunks of ground beef, and had a green pepper taste and very tomatoey. No cheese on topSo it's their version of lasagna, not good! My husband enjoyed his steak tips but his peas were raw! Crunchy, dry and crumbly. This place should be featured on Gordon Ramsay's show. Kitchen Nightmares. One thing that Gordon always talks about is having a menu that shows off what you specialize in and is not too lengthy. Well Fireplace has one of the largest menus I have ever seen and with all the options I still had a hard time picking out what I wanted because somehow none of it sounded good. My husband couldn't even finish his steak sandwich because it was so low quality and cooked horribly. I don't think anyone at our table actually enjoyed their food. It is incredible that they are still in business. I guess when you have a restaurant in the middle of nowhere you can get away with serving horrible food since there is no competition. read more

This place was warm and cozy. Truly giving way to the name "Fireplace Restaurant." the service was average, if anything a little slow, but the resteraunt was packed. It had a huge menu but most of the options were burgers and steaks. I ended up going with their fettuccine, because it was listed as a specialty. Well.. The portion was rather small, the alfredo sauce was great, but nothing out of ordinary or that set it apart from others. If you're in town looking for good food, stop by. My family decided to have an exciting night. Although we were 90 minutes away from the area, we decided make the trip up to enjoy the Christmas lights at the golf course and then take in a nice dinner at the Fireplace Restaurant afterward. The website showed they were open until 10 but we called ahead to make sure they were open. We arrived at 9:05 to find the doors locked, ruining our special evening. Why does their website list incorrect hours? Why didn't their staff alert me that they close early? Shame. I will never revisit this restaurant. Stopped on the GoldWing after a run through the country. Dinner on a Sunday evening last weekend. They were definitely swamped, although the restaurant wasn't full. Our server had at least half the restaurant. Service was sloooow. Food, when it finally came out was hot, prepared correctly and all in all what I expected. I just didn't expect it to take 45 min for a french dip. I don't know if the holdup was the server or the kitchen, but the have some work to do. Wife had prime rib and crab bisque. We ordered soup and clams. 2 hours later the food came out minus one soup. We were handed the bill and noticed the soup was on there so we notified the waitress to subtract it from the final bill. She brought the bill back at +$10! I told her this was incorrect and she said sorry I added the initial bill wrong. You actually owe us +$10 with the soup subtracted. What a scam this whole place is. Love this old school hometown treasure just up the Tunkhannock Highway on Rt. 6! Meat char-broiled on the grill, absolutely delicious beef medallions and Monterey chicken specials! They have a salad called the Laura salad that's not on the menu which I recommend. It comes with chicken, lettuce, strawberries, candied walnuts, grilled pineapple, crumbled feta and raspberry vinaigrette. It's actually pretty good. I'm vegetarian so I get it without the chicken and I enjoy it. Like the previous reviewer said, restaurants should be rated against other local restaurants. The food is pretty good, and they have an extensive menu of burgers/salads/sandwiches. The decor is dated and the furniture could use a revamp, but it has been established in the area for a while and the "rustic" feel adds to the atmosphere. Service is slow, so I would recommend calling ahead to order your food. read more

I always eat dinner at the Fireplace. Tonight was the latest I have ever walked in at 8:30. It was the fewest people I have ever encountered in the restaurant. I was served by Miranda tonight and she was the best waitress I have ever had serve me. She took great care of me and my family. I had Prime Rib and it was the Best Prime Rib I have eaten all year...not any fat at all really. Both my daughters had really good Hamburgers just as they asked for them. My youngest asked for a hamburger that wasn't on the menu and she got exactly what she asked for. My wife ordered off the Mexican menu and she said it was what she wanted and she liked it. Over the past several years I have not had any good food here, I would go again thinking lets give another shot and was always disappointed. Food not served as asked(over done),Prime rib we'd get about 5/6 bites out of it and the rest was sooo much Fat. Very slow service, Food that should have been hot came cold, their burgers are so greasy that the bun turns to Mush. Last night upon someone else's invite, we went there. THIS time, we waited in line, the couple ahead was seated. We waited & waited and finally whomever the so called Hostess was, came over, asked how many? I ordered the turkey burber and my husband had a burger. both were frozen and mine smelt sour. the waitress gave us the meals and the tomatoes were rotten. I asked her about them and she said lately their produce has been horrible. she asked if I wanted more?! then she went to the kitchen and cut one fresh. will not be back! Easily the worst meal I've had in years and my husband and I travel very often now that we're empty-nesters. The waitress was nice and when I asked her opinion between two meals she suggested the stuffed shrimp as she really likes their stuffing. I grew up on the Chesapeake Bay. If you're going to say it's stuffed with crab meat, please actually use crab meat. They use imitation crab and it was mostly large pieces of bread. At best, it should be called a "seafood" stuffing and that's a HUGE stretch. The shrimp themselves weren't seasoned at all. The salad was good though. I left all but the one shrimp I tried and the waitress didn't seem interested but she was busy. I took a slice of banoffee pie to go since I was still hungry and it was completely inedible. I rarely turn down dessert but I threw the whole slice in the trash after the first bite. My husband had the sirloin and it was 70% gristle. We had very high hopes as the restaurant was highly recommended and smelled amazing when we got out of our car. We'd have been happier at McDonald's and I hate McDonald's. read more
