After 40 years, my gas fireplace gave up the ghost. They sent Reza for a visual inspection first, because safety is the most important thing. (There is a low-hundred's charge for that.) Then they sent me a quote, which I accepted and which stayed the same through the whole process. They refurbished my whole fireplace unit, replacing it part by part, so it's the equivalent of new! Reza took it away in the morning, vacuuming and cleaning the hearth area and the flue, and brought it back, refurbished and shiny, five hours later. Reza was prompt in arriving, quick in his work, thorough, skilled and professional. He even quickly painted the bottom plate a nice matte black. Upgrades are available, like remote ignition or a wall timer, but I didn't go for those and it was no problem. I will be inviting FS back for visual inspections every year so I can extend my unit's life as long as possible. I really appreciate their efficient system of invoicing, document transfer and distributed responsibility for communication. They did an excellent job and were professional. They explained to me what was done and how to operate the new burner pipe they installed, as well as some things that needed my attention. They found things that could be done better (like propping Up the wood grate at a superior angle for safe burning) and they did it for me. They answered my questions. Additionally, they did a sweep for me and they didn't make any mess in my living room. I appreciated that I could ask questions and wasn't made to feel silly. My original review was a one star because the guy that came out had told me he had never seen this kind of insert, never mentioned any concerns then sent me a quote for 3700.00 in repairs. I called the company before writing the review but no one was there that could talk to be about the quote. I posted a bad review to get people's attention to physically look at what is claimed to be a problem before agreeing to repairs. The problems that were mentioned I still feel are not needed. Before I could call the company back, the owner called me. We spoke about a half hour or so. He explained the business side and explained the consumer side of receiving a quote and how many would have the repairs done even if in reality they were not needed. He said he would speak with the technician and find out why he thought they were. I suggested they begin the letter for the quotes as suggestions and why they felt it was needed, not just we did the sweep and you need repairs. We both listened. Really? How do these people have so many good reviews? Sure, they are pleasant enough with their small talk, but they will give you a whole list of repairs (half of which aren't necessary) and then charge you a crap load for the work. They gave me an estimate of 1600 (for low-end parts). I ordered the parts (stainless instead of galvanized) and did it myself for 380. Save yourself some $$ and go somewhere else. This company is a total rip off. The homeowners association made all condo owners replace the fireplace system that was there in a condo I own. I rent out the unit and my tenant was an elderly gentleman that had caregivers. NOBODY ever used the fireplaces. When I changed tenants the new tenant complained the condensation made the fire hard to see and it never went away so the glass was clear. This company wanted to charged me $250.00 to come out and look at each unit. I had to chase them to find out what the problem was after the inspection. When I finally got the report the info was only on 1 fireplace, not both, and they wanted $1100. to replace the glass in each unit even though the fireplaces had never been used and they must have been defective to begin with. Very great people. The winter that just past I wanted a new fire place. My house is a very old house so when the winter is here I usually freeze and it gets really cold. This year it was no different , I didn't want my family to freeze nor to be cold anymore so I searched up a place or someone that can make me a fire place or fix mine. I called and first let me say is that they were really friendly and kind. The price was 160$ and they said it would come out so and so and I agreed. 5 hours later it was done I was so happy because now only were they able to help me with my problem but also help me with my family. This winter was the most cozy to be at home due to the fact that we didn't have to freeze. I've seen a lot of people complain but it's all not true. As you can see, I do not write many reviews, but I am so disappointed in this company, I had to write one. My Wife and I are currently in escrow and needed an inspection for the chimney. We looked on Yelp and this company had 78 reviews with a 5-star rating. After reading some of the reviews I decided to call. Our experience started out great...we were able to schedule a Friday appointment the Wednesday before the inspection, the inspector (Kevin) called 40 minutes before he arrived at the house, and was on time. Kevin was knowledgeable, professional, and cleaned up the debris that came down the chimney during the inspection. The problem came the following Monday. I called at 10:22am to check on the inspection report and was told by Gabby we would be receiving the report by email in the afternoon. I stressed to her that our deadline to remove the inspection contingency was due by end of day and was assured it would be sent. At 4:00pm I checked my email and no inspection report. I immediately call, was told all the managers were gone for the day, and there was no one available to approve our inspection report till the following day. We missed our inspection contingency deadline. UNACCEPTABLE! read more

I am a real estate agent and my client called Fireplace Solutions to come out and check the chimney for our inspection contingency. I do remodel for clients for the past 10 years, in addition to real estate, so I'm not a total novice to this business, however, when it comes to things out of my wheelhouse I rely on the inspectors. Don was our inspector and prior to him even looking at the FP I told him the fireplace was repaired after the 1994 earthquake per a permit that was pulled, he immediately said it was probably repaired with a wood frame and although that was the way they did it back then, it was signed off by a building inspector and per code, it's not safe now. When he finished his inspection, I proceeded to ask questions on my client's behalf and instead of answering them, he was rude, dismissal and said none of my questions were relevant bc the FP needs to be removed at 20-25k. When I asked about putting in gas enclosed option vs a wood-burning fire, if there was a fire cap, etc.. he threw his hands up, rolled his eyes and said: "I just told you there are no options"! Being in this business for years, inspectors are notorious for telling buyers it's much worse than it really is to get the business. I'm not sure if this is the case, however bc of his arrogance and awful attitude I am reluctant to take him at his word. I am suggesting a second opinion. I go the extra mile for all my clients and suggested a chimney inspection in the first place to ensure they are moving into a safe situation or if not, at least they understand what their options are. I would NOT go with this company. I will update this after our second inspection. read more

We set up an appointment to have the service come out and clean our chimney/barbecue fire box. They sent out a technician named Jeff Shields, he was here at 10 o'clock came in looked at the fire box. Told me they could not clean the stack or the box because it was use for a barbecue and there was grease in the system. He got up on the roof looked at the at the chimneys stacks. This took all about 10 minutes total time. He said he called his office to inform them, and said it will cost me $179 for the service. I didn't question him because I believed that his front office gave him the price. He left I then called the front office and question the price the man that I talk to inform me that that was the price because of their expertise again I told him the time that he was here was 10 minutes. I've been around a long time I'm 74 years old and I know when I'm being scammed. I hope anyone that's looking at using his company reads this fully. I have a gas fireplace that intermittently would not work. I called another 5 star company first. They sent out a technician who informed me that I had a bad part that would need to be replaced and quoted me $785.00 to replace the part. With that kind of quote, I felt I needed a second opinion. I then called Fireplace Solutions who sent out a wonderful man named Jeff who did a thorough inspection of my fireplace. Turns out that is was simply corrosion on my on/off switch and if pushed lightly may not work. Sure enough, every time I push it with a bit of pressure, the fireplace comes right on. He even showed me how to replace the switch (by the way... IT'S A $4.99 PART!!!) should it stop working altogether. He was personable, highly professional and saved me from getting ripped off by Talbot Brothers for almost $800! They are now my absolute "go to" for any issues with my fireplace. Not only did Dan thoroughly evaluate my situation (a cap had blown off in the wind), but his recommendations and expertise were amazing. He took before and after pictures and the work he did was tremendous...and best of all, it was totally covered in the price that Molly, the lady in the office quoted me when I first called. Fireplace Solutions Called to book an appointment. The time was set for 12-4pm. At 3:30pm I was told they need to reschedule as the technician had truck issues. I said no worry and they offered me "first thing Monday, as early as I can do it." I asked if I should still be able to get to work by 9am and when they confirmed it was not a problem I booked 7:30am and arranged and paid for a ride for my kids to school. At 7:45m I called the office and they said he was stuck in 405 traffic. At 7:55am the technician called and said he was about 1 hour away. I expressed my frustration and gave him the history, he said he was not aware of my concern or timeline and do I want to reschedule. I said no. I called the office at Fireplace Solutions who said there was nothing she could do, the technician showed up late and she had worked all day Friday to arrange the schedule. She said I'd get a nice hefty discount and "she's more frustrated than I am,...what can I say my technician is a jerk" The repair person arrived right at 9am. After inspecting the fireplace I was told the starter valve was broken and would need to be replaced. Of course they didn't have the parts with them but assured me they would order the part asap and have the office call me with a eta. That was 3 weeks ago, I never heard from them again. Wow, where to start. First you'll notice lots of either one star or five star reviews, that should be a warning right there. So I drive 30 minutes to get to the store, and ask for a simple $20 part. I am super friendly, the guy that got the part was friendly, all is well. Then the money man says that will be $179... and I'm thinking, that must be a verbal typo, so I asked to clarify the price he says yeah that's what I can do today is $179. Looks me straight in the eye and tells me that for a $20 part at Home Depot or Amazon. How do you do that and expect for customers to come back? I'm still puzzled. These guys were johnny on the spot when we purchased our gas fireplace inserts from them. but, boy when we needed service. I didn't get a return call back from over three messages. then when I did get someone to talk too, the girl seemed totally not with it and said she'd schedule but it would cost me $289 just to have them come out, and they would give me a day but not a window until 3 days before. I said fine, but not between 1-3, I get a text and that's what they give me. when I call she said sorry, not really much I can do. Horrible customer service.
