While I don't use my fireplace (as the West Valley provides plenty of heat), I do understand the importance of chimney and fireplace upkeep. After consulting Yelp and seeing such stellar reviews for The Chimney Sweeper, I checked Angie's and found a coupon. I called and got what I felt was a fair price (especially given the percent-off coupon) for cleaning and an explanation as to the creosote odor that would waft in occasionally. The technician who did the cleaning of both my chimney and dryer vent was courteous and efficient. There was no ashy residue or lint in the house whatsoever. He inspected the chimney and gave a verbal report that explained why a fireplace that wasn't used had an odor. A written report and estimate just arrived by mail, and I am shocked--in a good way. The estimate is much, much lower than I imagined based on the amount of work that needs to be done. I appreciated that it included an option, which was positioned as such, rather than as a "must do." I just don't understand how such a simple request (such as getting a receipt) can be so difficult for them to accommodate to paying customers. This company has the worst customer service! The office staff is incredibly rude, not to mention the technician, Jeff, had a HUGE attitude when doing the install on my unit. With the weather getting colder I wanted to turn on my wood burning fireplace at my parents house in Encino for the extra energy efficient heat. We are buying a house and had a real estate inspection saying we have a couple issues with our fireplace. Called three different chimney companies two said they didn't do this kind of work & the other one said their workers were on vacation. Their workers, Tim and Jeff showed up promptly on time, took a video of the inside of the fireplace and assessed what looks like some issues with the gas opener. I recently just closed escrow on buying my first home. During my inspection period, my home inspector advised me in his report that many things seemed off about the fireplaces and flue systems on the three fireplaces in my house. He recommended The chimney sweeper to come out and do a level two real estate camera inspection. This was the best money I ever spent while buying my home. A supervisor named Jeff came out and did an endoscopy and colonoscopy on all my fireplaces and chimneys. He found so many problems that would have costed me a fortune to repair! I booked an appointment well in advance and was given a timeframe from 8 AM to 12 PM at 11:30 I received a call saying the inspector was barely to his second job in topanga canyon which couldn't be further from the property which is in Palos Verdes Estates. I just wasted 4 hours of my morning and when I called they didn't even act like it was that big of a deal and wanted to know when I wanted to reschedule. I simply received an, "oh sorry about that". Unbelievable!!!!!! I informed them that I would absolutely not be rescheduling with them and in fact I had already rescheduled with a competitor. If you work in this business in Los Angeles you should have some idea of how to use a map when scheduling appointments. Hire at your own risk. I had Fireplace Solutions (Chimney Sweepers) repair my chimney when I purchased my home in 2012. This winter I contacted them to clean and inspect my fireplace. After a few hundred dollars worth of cleanings by Fireplace Solutions I was told that prior repairs looked amateur. I was given an estimate to repair the chimney. When I notified Fireplace Solution that they were, to my knowledge, the only company to ever service the chimney and that I expected the repairs from 2012 to have some sort of warranty I was given the run around and told there was no record of service on the company computers. When I presented bank documents from 2012 to show I indeed hired Fireplace Solutions in 2012, I was told that they would have to "go to the warehouse and look through the paper files". They never called back. The last time I called them I was notified that Fireplace Solutions is under new management and they would not honor any prior warranties.
