The final project included cleaning two of the fireplaces, a complete reline of the masonry fireplace, repairing/bringing the crowns up to code, and adding rain caps and a fan. Additionally, I had him and Rudy install gas log sets in all three fireplaces and glass doors on two of them. I was especially impressed by their professionalism: for the masonry reline, they actually built a 'clean room' to protect the rest of our home from the dust and debris! The work required several visits, and both DannyLee and Rudy were consistently friendly, courteous, and professional. Even with the extensive amount of work performed, the pricing was very fair. This is very hard to find these days. They are punctual, they keep you updated on their arrival time, they explain everything thoroughly, and they're always making sure you don't have any unanswered questions. They'll lay out different options and pricing, explain pros and cons of each, and go over which ones are absolutely necessary and which ones could be optional depending on your needs. Which means you get great VALUE (rather than just trying to sell you the most expensive of each item/task). My wife didn't even interact with them directly and she told me wow those guys are so proper, thorough, and professional; just based on what she could hear from the other room. Furthermore, they are very attentive to every detail in terms of being respectful of your house: not leaving the door wide open, not getting any of your furniture dirty, not scratching my brand new hardwood floors, and cleaning up as they go. I'm highly suspect about this business and only 5 star reviews that are here - I did not have a 5-star experience. I spent a couple days trying to get DannyLee to respond to a request to come out for a camera inspection - through Yelp, through text, through email. Finally when he did come out, and AFTER the inspection, he said that his camera wasn't working and so he couldn't provide the video. But he still charged me $250, and didn't even offer to deduct the cost if I performed the work with them. When he emailed me the estimate and a couple photos, he didn't attach MY estimate - it was for someone else. It took me another few days to finally get him to send me my estimate, it was extremely expensive and contained work that wasn't necessary (waterproofing the exterior brick that had been previously painted and sandblasted - a masonry company confirmed this was not necessary). I could not find any record of them having a contractor's license in CA, also a red flag. read more

Your search is over if you are looking for a good chimney service. Dannylee is quite simply the best. We needed a new vent cover for our gas fireplace. A previous chimney service had come out to give me a "free quote," only to tell me it would be over $300, he'd have to send one of his guys out at some later date, and it would require 2 visits. He recommended I just send my husband up there to measure and go buy the part ourselves to save money and time. Of course that never happened as we didn't have our own 2 story ladder which I had said he would need to bring (but didn't). On my second search, I found Mr. Chimney Sweep Service, and with a few texts, Dannylee was able to come out the next day. He showed up with the correct ladder, and even had the exact part we needed with him! No 'sending one of his guys out at a later date,' kicking the can down the road. His price was less than the previous quote too! To top it off (and this is why you hire the pros), he saw we were lacking a sealant around the vent pipe and the fireplace platform, and that's why we were leaking water down the fireplace during heavy rains. With the recent storms, we noticed a large amount of water coming in through our chimney into our house. I called several chimney sweep companies, but every one wanted money up front just to do an inspection. I would normally get multiple quotes for a project, but non-refundable inspection fees wouldn't make that possible. So I really needed to he selective. Mr. Chimney Sweep had great reviews, and his bio showed over a decade of experience. When I called, Danny (the owner) picked up right away and offered a free inspection. He diagnosed the problem as a cracked chimney cap, which was allowing water into the flue. He also noticed there wasn't much slope on the existing cap, so he recommended raising up the center slightly to create a better slope that would reduce water pooling. I'm always wary of being "upsold" by contractors, but he didn't make any pitch at unnecessary repairs, and the price seemed very reasonable to me. He needed some additional equipment, so he couldn't do the work on the day of the inspection, but he offered to come out the next day to fix the problem (on Easter no less!). Not only was the work itself top notch, but I appreciated how courteous and professional he was. He had great communication every step of the process. He arrived during the window of time he said he would, gave me a 20-minute warning before he arrived, and completed the work in exactly the time he said. He was also really warm and patient with my four year old, who watched them work and would ask the occasional question about what they were doing (or have a conversation with them about his favorite animal while I was writing the check). :) I feel really fortunate to have found Mr. Chimney Sweep. We had water leaking into our masonry chimney, and after leaving it covered with a tarp for far too long, Danny showed up and resolved our issues very rapidly.
