This was our first time in since the remodel. We have always gotten the pizza, but we thought we'd try something new on there menu. The patty melt was great. The sweet yellow onions (cooked in beer I think) was a slight twist on a classic burger. Then there was the rueben. I took a bite and couldn't finish the bite. I couldn't bite through it. An alligator couldn't bite through it. I had to sift through the corned beef pieces to identify the edible chunks of meat. When our server stropped by and asked how everything was, I told him how bad the sandwich was. He said "sorry about that" and walked away. We have been here many times before and have always had very good experiences when having the pizza. The staff is friendly so we will probably be back and have the pizza. read more

Quick: what comes to mind when you think of Richfield? Pizza, right? Of course not. And Fireside Pizza isn't helping. I'm not sure which pizza other Yelpers were eating (or, perhaps, smoking), but ours was just shy of the nondescript banality embodied in frozen pizzas. They even served it on a cardboard round, like the kind you get with "Homerun Inn" pizza from your local frozen food aisle. To add insult to injury, a large pizza tips the twenty dollar mark. Specifically, the cheese was freezerburned (so that for sure was frozen). They put a wisp of tomato paste (?) onto their uncrisp thin crust. I asked for a side of red sauce for dipping, otherwise the slices had a texture reminiscent of the cardboard round upon which it was served. Our order came very quickly. Like ten minutes...Hey, don't most frozen pizzas take about 10 minutes? Hmmmm.... If I could go back in time, I would either go to Grandpa Tony's on Snelling in St. Paul, Mama's on Rice Street, or buy two large pizzas at Papa Murphy's. Our server was nice. The decor was fun. Nothing to complain about the food, not sure it's rave-worthy either but it's good thin crust pizza. I find it greasier than "fancier" pizza joints around, but that's as far on the flavor analysis as I'm willing to go. After 9 pm all large pizzas are the price of a small. It's a standard neighborhood pizza joint that hasn't changed in forever. The interior is something to behold, but what brought me back here after a long hiatus was the nice patio setup they have out front for summer. They're also doing breakfast on the weekends now. Unfortunately the place closes at 10 pm on weekdays. That's not unusual for a restaurant in this area, but it's a shame because they have a nice patio setup now and with Pizza Luce, Sandy's, etc. in the neighborhood open later, it'd be nice to be able to enjoy that patio with hours similar to the competition's. read more

I can see that the update is working out for y'all. And honestly, that's cool. But at least half the reason I smiled and tolerated the huge brass bowling balls sized rip off of your prices was the unmatched vintage insane of your indoor trees and checked tablecloths. It was the "we're not competing with that highbrow stuff" stance. Now you are. And you're charging even more. You have to be kidding me, 22 bucks for the special to go, after tax, and I walk out with a 13 inch pie weighing less than most priority mail envelopes. That's one thing if you're actually leaving the planet of low to low middle brow and sourcing from Italy or the farm. This food isn't. This place is more or less identical to the red wagon experience, only the food is completely out of line with the pricing, versus excellent. My wife and I have been here a couple times since they re-opened the restaurant. We really like the new food...we have tried the Pizza, Pub Pretzel, Calzone, Salads & Sandwich's. We have liked them all...the service has been friendly and timely...we don't like someone constantly at our table so we like the service there...So overall...we find the food & service really good... Now the two things we think need some work...I saw this mentioned by a couple other people...the price point on everything is a little high...we have been a few times and never gotten out of there for less that $50 and it's just the two of us...we may both get a beer and a pizza...maybe an appetizer...I think the prices could be a little less. The other thing and I consider this to be the biggest things...it is extremely loud inside the dining area....and I mean loud, quite possibly one of the louder places I have been in...even if the dining area isn't completely full...there are just so many surfaces that the sound bounces off of and as it gets loud then people get louder and it just gets worse...We were there last night and it was so loud I was having trouble understanding the waiter....and forget having conversation with your dining mate...when we left my ears were ringing....I like the place but this is the one thing that would keep me from going more often....they really need to invest in some noise absorption material for the place. Loved the old Fireside both the ambiance and food. While I understand why the changes were made, think they were going for more modern and trying to attract the bar crowd, as they now have a liquor license. Sadly they missed on the food and price point. The spaghetti was a zero star, the sauce was burned and the meatballs dry and flavorless. In fact I think we might have gotten a touch of food poisoning, felt very ill night of visit and next day. The pizza was better, closer to the old recipe. The new menu is missing one of our family favorites, the stuffed meatball sandwich, but given the quality of the meatballs, maybe that's better for all. Fireside used to be a regular for our family, including a must visit when out of town relatives would visit. Based on our last visit, we will be looking elsewhere. Also, the price point went way up as well, so poor food for little value = no more visits. read more

The pizza was good....,however.... The inside was cozy and fun. The SERVICE WAS THE WORST....there was no service. We had to wait for the waitress to take our beverage order.....when she served our pizza, she tossed it down on ther table and left. We had no napkins or silverware. We never saw our waitress for the rest of the night; except when she brought the check two minutes after serving the pizza. We had to ask for soda refills by walking up to the front desk, they never cleared away our dirty pizza dishes or asked if we would like to have the remaining pizza boxed up. I did leave the waitress a tip and I'm not sure why...since I never received any service. read more

I just stopped by for lunch today and I'm glad I did. I've always driven by the place and wondered what the place was like. Now I know. They have an awesome lunch special which is a 1/2 order of spaghetti and meat balls and a mini one topping pizza. I chose sausage for my pizza topping, which they make in house according to my waitress. The spaghetti was cooked perfectly and the meatballs were very good. The sauce was a red sauce with a nice thickness and spicy flavor. The pizza was delectable thin crust with just the right amount of cheese and very tasty in house made sausage. I wish they were closer to work......then again maybe that is good that their not because I would gain about 10 pounds a week going there..... Interior is a Classic 70's 80's pizza joint. A general google search of best places to eat in Richfield brought me here. I ordered the pepper pizza. Enjoyed the cracker thin crust - it was an interesting pizza. The pepper pizza consists of pepperoni, green and red bell peppers and banana peppers. The sauce was maybe an olive oil base of sorts. Not the traditional red. By the time I got home I figured out this pizza had similar flavors to a chinese dish I have had. Flip side: Bathroom was nasty - stinky, ring around the toilet and moldy walls. For me this typically sets how they take care in the kitchen. Had I not visited the restroom I was already considering going back to try a more traditional topping pizza. The wait staff was young high school girls so maybe that played into it. First the not perfect things- Its loud! especially when its busy. Between the people and the music its hard to hear others at your table second - There are really to many tables. There is very little room between tables Third- it is not cheap Fourth- parking is horrible! NOW for the good that makes this all worth while. The staff is incredible The food is 10 star delicious. Well this was a cool little spot. The actual restaurant isn't Terribly big but the atmosphere is nice and relaxing and hip. We called and made a reservation for a group of 17 and during our entire visit, the server was fabulous with handling all of us and he did it mostly by himself. They have happy hour up to six and on the weekends too! The happy hour menu includes both drinks and appetizers so it's a great deal. They have a wide variety of food from salads to burgers and pizza. We had the Kiss my Pizza which is mostly Veggies. Super light and tasty. We added mushrooms on it and it had just the right amount of veggies. We also got the Fireside special which is definitely for meat lovers. Great amount of meat and very hearty! For 3 of us we got two large pizzas and onion rings for an appetizer. That was just the right size with a couple left over slices of pizza to take home. The onion rings were super big! They are good but super greasy. You can easily eat one and be satisfied. Stopped in on a Sunday and there weren't many people here at 11am. They serve lunch specials even on the weekends, score not many places do that. There are lots of options to chose from. We started with a cup of the wild rice soup and house salad. The soup was outstanding, the salad was reasonable, nothing super special but it did have fresh cucumber, tomato and some mixed greens. We shared a large bbq chicken pizza. It had a really nice thin crispy crust, lots of cheese and chicken. The BBQ was nice and Smokey. The pizza was big enough we took half of it home with us. Also the restroom was quite a nice experience, all too often restrooms are neglected and gross, but this was nicely decorated, had all the amenities that one would need and more. read more

Very nice place to eat. Have been 3 times and have never had food that I didn't like. Portions are just slightly under the shareable range. Have tried the baked rigatoni and the pot roast meal. The pot roast is just like their menu says, succulent and slow cooked, was fork tender and didn't need a knife. Appetizers are great, have tried the onion rings (BIG FAT and well breaded) the spinach artichoke dip (comes with bread and you can ask for chips as well) and cheese bread. Again portions are full my suggestion is to get a couple different aps and pass them around, sure to please just about everyone. They also have great fries that they serve to you in a fry basket and definitely will want to share as well! Full bar and they make just about any drink you are looking for. It was very small and had a small-town welcoming atmosphere. The service was nice, but when asked about the size of a portion, they made it sound like it was really big...which really wasn't. Our party of 5 got squished into this very small booth (with curtains on it) and there was not nearly enough elbow space between us. If you are looking for some really salty pizza, this is the place for you! As for me, it was not to my liking at all. I was so thirsty afterwards from the excessive salty flavored pizza. However, it looks child-friendly and a nice place to hang out. If you are looking for taste, and depending on your taste, it may be something you may or may not like. It was exactly what i expected, nothing fancier than a Minnesota Pub Pizza. My boyfriend and I shared the Veg Lover's pizza (no green olives add banana peppers and sausage on half). they forgot to take of the green olives; and there were a lot of them. when we pointed this out to our waitress she was very nice and offered to make us a new pizza. I'm not that picky and wasteful so we said "thanks but no" and i just picked them off .... a hole pile of them!. And we were given a discount on our order for the mistake. no biggie The interior decor was kind of a trip; there are large fake trees in the center of the place and the booths along the side have curtains you can close to shut yourself in i suppose. and the rest of the decor is sports memorabilia with lots of autographs from mostly hockey players. There was a 4 piece jazz band there on a Wed night, a great trumpet player, guitar, clarinet and singer. They were too good for this place and should have been at a cute wine bar. All in all i wasn't disappointed by the place because i didn't go in with very high hopes, but I'm not sure if i would go back because there are so many other better pizza places in that area. read more

I ordered the pasta with red sauce and it was actually very good the homemade sauce or what I thought was homemade sauce was different but I will get used to it. I had a piece of pizza and the square shaped pieces were pretty cool. Garlic bread was really really good but the crust was a little hard to bite into. I was less than impressed with the service we received but the food was actually quite delicious. First of all, the tables are quite small to seat 4 people and drinks and food and ours had a huge gauge in the wood- I get it is meant to be rustic but it seemed inconvenient. When I checked in on Yelp, an offer popped up for a $10 large pizza but it had expired in 2013. I asked our waiter about it and he said he couldn't honor it. I don't know if that is a Yelp issue or the restaurant failing to have it taken down... but that coupon was 4 years old... We went on a Monday and they do 2-for-1 beverages all day- ANYTHING on the menu is eligible so you can get 2 beers or 2 fancy cocktails or 2 whatever! So that is quite nice (though, again, not great with such a small table). We ordered onion rings as an appetizer and they took a long time to get to the table- we were about to ask our waiter if he forgot when they appeared. They were hot, crispy and very big onions so that was great. Our food also seemed to take a while and was hit or miss at my table. Since my pizza plan was destroyed, I ended up ordering the Asian Fries which are french fries with braised short ribs and some sort of mayo drizzle. They were SO GOOD. My sister got the tacos and was disappointed (but her side of fries were good too). When we were finished, we waited again for what I felt was too long to get our check.
