Definitely not bad, but for the price I expected was a little bit more. Parking is kind of tight. We did not have reservations but they were able to seat us in about 30 minutes. The service was very attentive and portions are large. We ordered a burger and a loaded potato plus a salmon plate. The food was Okay. Big portions but that's the only positive thing I can really say. They have a big menu so the quality of food is so so. They were very busy but I guess if your the only restaurant in town and don't have options I guess this is the place to go. Maybe I'll be back to try something else on the menu and maybe I'll be able to update my review. The place is pretty clean and the people are really nice wish the food was better. read more

We came here super hungry after a full long day at Raging Waves, not too far from this restaurant. We found this place on Yelp, and didn't think much of it, until we saw it as we drove by, to get to the highway home. To get to the restaurant itself, it was rather interesting. No main entrance from the main road, I believe Route 30, you'll have to take a small side street, Sugar Lane, that goes through an apartment complex, to get to the main parking lot of Fireside Grille. The parking lot at Fireside Grille is rather spacious, and we were able to find a parking spot pretty quickly. Inside the double-entrance set of doors, the hostess greeted us and sat us at a booth pretty promptly. Inside the restaurant, the setup is spacious. There are a few booths in the room, with what it looks like a fully stocked bar. Go past this area, there is the main dining area. Plenty of booths line the outer parameter of the dining area and numerous tables were in the middle. Our waitress was super nice and today she had a trainee who showed her the ropes. We were informed of tonight's specials and their prices, overall, very informative and friendly. We ordered our food: Fried calamari -- it had a good amount of rings and tentacle ratio. More rings than tentacles, but was in a perfectly battered ratio. Came with cocktail sauce and some lemons. Delicious. Chicken fingers -- there's a kid option or a hidden menu option. We went with the appetizer option, which included 4 chicken tender pieces Loaded fries -- we only wanted cheese on this, and not the other stuff. Came with an large cup of chipotle mayo for dipping Santa Fe chicken sandwich -- served on a standard bread, included guacamole includes fries Fireside Grille chicken dinner -- Two 10oz size chicken breast, choice of having it fried, grilled, or blackened. I went with the blackened. The dish included veggies and a choice of potato. I went with the sweet potato. The chicken was seasoned really well. A tiny bit dry, but overall, it was very good! Four cheese Mac n cheese -- creamy and so cheesy and gooey. The mac n cheese came with Fusilli pasta. It was really good and the portion was humungous. We got bread on a cutting board and whipped butter before our meal which was nice. All entrees had a choice of soup or salad. The soup was cream of asparagus, which I never had before. It was creamy, and a tad salty, that the saltine cracker it came with fixed, and didn't make my pee smell funny. Money. The salad was a good mixture of greens, with cherry tomatoes, croutons, and onions. It was a decent sized salad, for something that came with your meal. Overall, food was great! Service was wonderful, although our water glasses weren't filled until near the end, but not a big deal at all. The people were nice, friendly, and attentive. I really enjoyed my dining experience here, and recommend Fireside Grille, if you're in the Sugar Grove area. Not too far from the highway, it's a relatively easy place to get to. BATHROOM REVIEW: Located past the front entry area, the men's bathroom includes a double sink, two urinals, and a stall. The stall walls were sturdy and got the job done. I did however watch the bartender blow her nose, not cleanse her hands- grab a ticket to pass to another server, make a drink and then load all the straws. Unwrapped straws... handled every one of them. Leveling them in her hand and smacking them into the container. Highly recommend asking for a wrapped straws if you need one. Meh...Three stars for my fish and chips but four for the review. Methinks this was a case of ordering the wrong item at a good restaurant. Service was excellent and Fireside is a nice space for any kind of meal--business, date, special occasion or group. It's casual elegance that's on the edge of fine dining. So, back to my lunch choice. The tilapia's breading was bland and lacked seasonings--serious shortcomings for essentially tasteless whitefish. Beyond saying they were cooked there was nothing to recommend the fries either. Another tasteless item. The mixed veggie side was thin slices of overcooked ingredients. The lunch special included choice of soup or salad. My cheesy potato soup with bacon was fantastic. In retrospect I would have liked that as my entree. So, maybe fish and chips are better left to a pub than this steak and potatoes place. read more

We have eaten here a number of times throughout the last 10 years. The location is a perfect and convenient 1/2 way point for getting together with friends who live in the North suburbs. We are never disappointed with the food or the service here. That is simply it...they are always consistent and the quality is very good. One of our party tried the Puttanesca this recent visit. It was very good. We have had a few of the chicken entrees...all good. Wines are reasonably priced, and desserts are easily big enough to split. Reliable and good food. What's not to love! read more

The service and the ambiance were great but the food was mediocre. We shared the onion petal appetizer which was tough and not much flavor (seems to me they used the outside part of the onion). I had the ribeye steak (overpriced for the quality). I felt it was a lower quality steak that contained tons of gristle and not much flavor (also the veggies were overcooked and flavorless). My wife had the meatloaf (it was not very good either) the bbq sauce was blah and the mashed potatoes were under seasoned as well. Also, the drinks were average. Have been coming here for years, but probably won't come back. Came in the other night with the wife. Noticed that neither of the hostesses were wearing masks. Looked around and it appears that none of the staff were. When we asked if they followed the state mandate, the older hostesses responded "we do what the owner tells us." I'm not sure why the "owner" gets to decide what rules they follow, but in my opinion it is a reason for concern. Does he also get to pick and choose which health codes they follow? In other responses the restaurant states that the are concerned with the heath and safety of their guests.... Funny way to show it. read more

We just moved to Sugar Grove and we're getting tired of takeout while we unpack dishes and pans. Have ordered here several times and have enjoyed the food every time: rack of ribs (a gigantic amount), char grilled pork chops, Cole slaw, loaded mashed potatoes, asparagus, steak Oscar, saganaki (nee one for me!!). Everything is delicious. Just be warned - you'll have enough food for two days AND every entree comes with vegetables so order something else as a side unless you're REALLY hungry for your veggies (a vegans haven ). My girlfriend and I wanted to try something new to celebrate her second to last semester in college. We didn't know what to expect, but did it really hit the spot! Coming into the restaurant, the parking lot was nearly full. Luckily someone had just pulled out for us to park. The inside of the restaurant was very nice and cozy with great ambience and lighting. We were greeted and seated right away. For an appetizer, we decided to go with the fried calamari. Great portions of the calamari with a good amount of ring and tentacle ratio. It was perfect and probably the best we've had! The batter was very light, flavorful and crispy. The squid wasn't very tough and rubbery as well so it was easy to chew. We were glad to get the appetizer because we didn't receive our main entree until nearly a half hour later. We didn't mind the wait, as it was a pretty busy Friday night. The waitress came to refill our drinks pretty often and brought us bread and my shrimp and clam chowder soup. For the entrees, my girlfriend got the BBQ broasted pork chops sandwich with fries. I got the pick 3: 8oz top sirloin medium rare, broasted pork chop with no honey bbq and the fried gulf shrimp with fresh vegetables and baked potato as my sides. The portions here are massive! Everything was prepared perfectly and it tasted fantastic! The pork chop's breading started to get a big soggy just from being placed on top of the vegetables, but it wasn't a deal breaker. The steak was cooked to my preference, and on the first try, too! And the fried shrimp was simply fantastic. My girlfriend's pork chop for her sandwich had copious amounts of BBQ, which drenched the buns. The bottom bun was basically not existent and she ate the entree as if it was an open face sandwich. Oh, and the pork chop was huge! Bigger than the buns! She really enjoyed that one! Overall, it was an awesome experience! The waitress was very nice, friendly and helpful! We were so full we didn't have room for dessert. The place is a bit pricey, however. But I feel the food and proportions are enough to justify those prices. I've only recently discovered Fireside Grille and can't say enough positive things about it. Each time I've gone there, with another person or a large group, it has been an excellent experience. From the hostesses to the servers, the customer service and friendliness is unmatched. The food is delicious, the portions are generous, and the prices are fair. It's rare that I leave a restaurant and find myself in the parking lot already thinking about the next time I'll return. They do it right at Fireside Grille and have a big fan in me! read more

The bus boy stole my cousins birthday card with $600 in it. The owners are refusing to do anything even though you see him stealing it ON CAMERA. Broasted pork chops with their homemade BBQ sauce on the side is my go to dish. Portions are huge and you get quality food for the money. For example, you get two chops, big portion of mashed potatoes and veggies on top of the soup or salad and fresh bread. The leftovers I bring home are 3-4 meals. Service depends on who you get. Sometimes they're super friendly and others... not so much like my last visit in February. We went for Father's Day lunch and this place did not disappoint. It is very easy to get to with ample parking and several handicap parking spots available. The restaurant was very clean and appeared to be Covid safe. We were seated right away and given a very lengthy menu with all types of choices from soup and salads to full meals. They have a large drink and dessert menu on top of the meal choices. Our server was outstanding and took care of everything as soon as we asked. The adult beverage was made perfectly and very flavorful. Our soups came out and they were very good. Our meals came out in a timely manner and they were hot and fresh. We ordered a Greek cbicken meal, a Honey bbq chicken meal which they both came with vegetables and potatoes, our daughter only wanted a couple sides for her meal so she got the spinach and potatoes. I love this place! It's only a couple of minutes away from where I live and it's my boyfriend's and my favorite place to go for lunch or dinner. They've recently had an update in the restaurant and menu after ownership changed which just kicked everything up a notch. I suggest you go in hungry or be prepared to take home leftovers as you will be fed well! The staff there really is awesome and take great care of you as soon as you walk in the door. The ambiance was very nice with a warm modern twist. Our server, couldn't tell you her name (never provided), you could tell the wanted to be anywhere else BUT here. The only point she was approachable is when she gave me the check. We ordered a plate of grilled chick, 2 orders of blackened chicken and shrimp pasta. The chicken on both were extremely dry. One was sent back, the vegetables were so over cooked they dissolved in your mouth like baby food. Unfortunately, we wont be returning. When the plate was sent back, our server never offered to replace the food or remediate the situation. She took it and walked away.
