I want to give this place more than 2 stars, but i cannot muster up enough strength to click the mouse over one more time. First lets start of with the positives: 1-They had a yelp check in offer for a free beer or garlic bread with purchase of an entree 2- Service was good. 3- Location in the Squaw Village. Negatives: 1 - Food was meh, first bite tasted pretty good, each additional bite i began to realize the pizza really wasn't that good. 2- $19 for a medium pizza, a very small medium pizza- it is 12 slices, but they are slices that are about 1/3 the size of a normal slice of pizza. 3- The free garlic bread was barely edible, thank god i didn't have to pay for it. 4 - Didn't smell like a good pizza joint 5- wasn't a fan of the inside atmosphere I don't think i will be returning. I don't really understand how this place has 4 stars on yelp, i believe it is because they bribe customers with free beer and garlic bread. Overpriced and rude. Food: Large pizza will run you over $25. Bad salads for $10. Hostess: No one in site, had to put my baby gear and a family of 7 down on a table. As a courtesy, when the hostess came back, I said: "Is it okay if I sit here?" "Er... we usually save that table for reservations, but since it's free, it's ok," she said, in a smirky attitude and tone. "That's great I said," feeling that she was mad that we dared sit at a table without her permission. But a couple minutes later, she was was chatting with a male employee...pointing and looking at my party, making eye contact and laughing. In my opinion, she was talking smack about our party. Hint: If you wanna talk behind your customer's back, don't look them in the eye and only 10 feet away. I called the manager later to complain and got a scripted response. The owner, Ray, was not there to take my call. I will try to find him. He always owns 22 restaurant in Squaw as well. read more

During the July 4th 2014 weekend stay in Squaw Valley, my husband and I went to Fireside Pizza twice. It is at a convenient walking distance if you stay in the Squaw Valley. The first night we dined in for a large pizza to share. They took our tricky customized order pizza -- half no cheese, half cheese -- nicely and we enjoyed our vegetarian / vegan pizza. The pizza came out very quickly (like within 10 min) and we were happy about the food. The waitress came by frequently to fill up our ice water, which is very nice. [5-star until this point.] The second night we decided to get a takeout. It was a long wait from the time I put the order with the (guy who may be the) bartender. After like 20+min waiting (we set our timer on phone and sit aside on the bench inside the restaurant), we did not hear my name called, so we walked to the takeout cashier asking about the order. (From here we call this person "The Guy"). "The Guy" told us that our takeout was ready, and went reach for a takeout bag sat aside near the kitchen. "The Guy" said that they dont call name when the takeout is ready, and you have to come back ask for it. (But "The Guy" did ask my name when taking my order) (What?!#1). [2-star until this point.] For some reason my order was missing a pasta (we wanted 2 pastas takeout and an appetizer, but on my bill there was only one pasta and the appetizer). (What?!#2) Okay, this could be my fault, since I could have double checked my bill and noticed this mistake from the total price. It was too inexpensive for a 2-meal takeout. [1-star until this point.] So the guy said we need to wait another 20 min. So we set our alarm and walked back to our hotel to refresh ourselves a bit. Mostly I did not want to sit here for another 20 min, being frustrated. Then we returned on time. This time my husband walked in. (I did not want to go back in, from some of the What?! emotion). "The Guy" at the takeout cashier said the takeout is not done yet. (What?!#3) [0-star until this point.] At this moment, we really felt like giving as few star allowed at Yelp and leaving some comments. We were tired from all the activities (biking and hiking for more than 6 hrs) and just wanted some food to enjoy and wrap up the day. Then here came the crucial moment turning all the (What?!) around. My husband recognized a man who looks like the manager, and talked to him about our situation. [Note that my husband did mention that we may leave some comments about what happened to us on Yelp.] This managing level man took care of our frustrated feeling very well. He said such a long wait for a take out is abnormal, he is sorry about this, and he is going to fix this for us. He rushed the order (of the missing 2nd pasta). Then he also took a look of the 1st pasta that was in the bag, which had been waited there too long and got cold. He then asked the kitchen to make another hot fresh pasta for the 1st one. He also made the cashier cancel the charge on our order (all of it). We waited shortly like 10 mins for all pastas, which proved that it was possible to rush the takeout order to shorten our waiting. At the end when every item was packed and ready to go, he acted very courteous and kind to my husband, and he made sure every detail was correct (asking "do you need condiment? ohh also some utensils?"). This manager took action and fix the whole situation. [3-star until this point: the average of the 6 for the manager and 3 for "The Guy"] What we had (before the manager stepped in) was an unfortunate situation that we had to wait another while. As a customer, I felt frustrated about the waiting, but I felt even more frustrated because "The Guy" who took my order acted in such a passive way. I am 100% sure he did not say a single sorry. "The Guy" talked in a plain way with not just even a tiny little bit sense of "I am sorry." I wish "The Guy" could have been more considerate about the customer's feeling, like the manager did. Even though it could be tough to come here work on a long weekend (pat The Guy), a tiny bit of kindness to the customer would be appreciated. From this dinner takeout experience, my husband and I learned how different the good customer service can make us feel. The manager took care of our frustration about this takeout. He really cared about what the customers feel after leaving the restaurant (and may leave on Yelp) (pun). My husband and I really appreciated what the manager did for us on that day. It was the last day of the long weekend traveling, and we were just expecting some good takeout and rest. I would like to give the manager 10 stars for his being responsive and courteous. The meals turned out to be very delicious and comforting. The pita appetizer was very tasty too. read more

Great pizza place for families! Good food, excellent service, and nice atmosphere. There are tvs with sports games and they also provide games for the kids. We ordered the Big Mountain pizza and the kids cheese pizza. Generous toppings on the pizza -- plenty of bacon, sausage, and pepperoni. The crust was medium thickness and had those cool bubbles in there. The kids cheese pizza was generous portion. Our server Dustin was great too. Continually checked up on us to see if we needed anything. Overall, a great pizza restaurant to check out when you are at squaw. read more

Great pizza, with a nice, zesty sauce and a thin crust that's actually soft, not tough. I'm not sure if it's the altitude they bake at, or just good ingredients, but the crust is both thin and soft inside like bread. Not tough or chewy. The tomato sauce has a nice blend of oregano and basil, enhanced by the cheese blend of mozzarella and fontina, among others. The pizza margarita has a thinner red sauce, and lots of fresh tomatoes and basil. Even the iced tea was good, not from some powder like McDonald's. Service was prompt and courteous, too. Pizza tasted ok but got violently sick hours after eating it. Tim the manager offered a tour of his "clean" kitchen and an explanation that all the food was prepped a "couple" of days ago. Delicious pizza right in Squaw! They are pricey and the portions are kind of small (a medium is personal pizza, while a small is almost too small), but the pizza is delicious! I just had an outstanding dinner at Fireside. We sat at the bar and had a clear view of the cooks making the pizza and pasta! The cooks making the pizza were incredibly impressive and worked amazing under pressure. I was in awe watching how they worked collaboratively as a team!! Our waiter, Tam, was absolutely phenomenal! He checked in on us on multiple occasions and went above and beyond to ensure that we were having an amazing experience. Had lunch here twice in two days. They messed up our order both times but we're laid back so no big deal. They still went above and beyond, giving us free dessert as well as the extra pizza. This is a favorite Italian restaurant in Squaw Village. If you're looking for Italy, you can find it here. The service is great and if the tables are full, you should only find delays up to ten to fifteen minutes (from what I have experienced) and really, come here for good stuff. Alexa as our waiter was great :D The desserts really get you up and out you to sleep. The prices are reasonable and the jugs they give you to have water are a good size so you don't have to worry about asking for a refill read more

Hubby and I came here during our annual Squaw Valley mini vacation. We were greeted and seated immediately. Tam (our wonderful waiter) got us Water in seconds. We ordered and ate. The Raviolis are amazing by the way! Tam was a great waiter! We wanted to stay and watch the remainder of the Giants game on the TV inside. Great wings and salads! Friends and I split a cobb, pear/gorgonzola and wings - delicious! good service - especially like servers Ali and Ella. The pizza here has great thin crust, my favorite pizza in the area. I like the BiG Mountain, but they are all good! The Pear and Gorgonzola salad is great although the pears can be a bit inconsistent. They have 5 beers on tap (today one was out) but generally very good pairings. It's nice to sit out on the patio in the summer and watch the tourists wander by. The kids like it, too. Today we were here for the Brew Fest and the patio dining area gave us a good view of the breweries and time to plan what to drink next. read more

We went here to have a bite to eat after a ride on the tram for me and a day of skiing for my boyfriend. I have noticed that the hostesses are very snotty. We asked the hostess to sit in the corner table that all it needed was to be wiped down. She said she would do it and seat us in a minute. She went to wipe down another table and wanted to seat us there. We said no we wanted the corner table. In the mean time the manager overhear my boyfriend and i talking about the seating amd interrupted us and said to be nice to the staff. We were not mean to the staff. He then said you will now have to wait to be seated longer. My boyfriend said no we wont and left This was our first visit and last here. Kinda sad really how low our expectations have come. I wonder how many people here are enjoying this god awful food called "pizza"? This isn't pizza, its manufactured crap. My guess is the vast majority love it and based on yelp scores it's well liked. If you're even just an entry level foodie type, you like real ingredients, food that tastes real, maybe even GMO free or organic? AVOID like the plague. I'm eating with three teen boys, even they agreed it was bland boring highly processed tasting food. The pizza crust tasted manufactured and just plain nasty. Best food I've had in Squaw. It's good pizza for the area, it's not NYC but it's as good as most pizza you'd get in the Bay area.

Driving from Lake Tahoe to Reno, we were looking for somewhere to hang out a while and have a nice lunch. We were so happy we stumbled across Fireside! The prices in the area can be high, with service and food not up to par; however, Fireside was a delight. The servers and staff were extremely accommodating and helpful in recommending the right pizza and appetizers for us. The pizza itself was amazing, and hit the spot--highly recommend the traditional pepperoni. We were able to sit out on the patio on a sunny July afternoon, and the whole experience at Fireside made our day. read more

Arrived on a busy Saturday night with a party of 6. We were seated quickly and a waitress was attentive to our beverage needs. We decided to order 3 medium size pizzas so that we could all try different things. We split the Mediterranean salad and a Caesar salad, which were both good. We ordered a spinach & artichoke pizza which was light and yummy. We shared the Fireside pizza which was a classic meat combo, which was also good. And we topped it off with a classic pepperoni, which was the best off all three pizzas. I checked into the restaurant on Yelp, which won us a free garlic bread. (that was exciting) The garlic bread was not too garlicky and was light and delicious. I gave the restaurant 4 stars because the pizza was good but not great. I do plan to visit the restaurant again for a frosty beverage, garlic bread and a slice. read more

Best Thai Curry Pizza I've ever had! Crust was just right, in between thin crust & the usual. It was packed with flavor, creamy Thai sauce, served with a wedge of lime! I told our waitress that I like it spicy & it was mildly spicy. This is understandable because it's better less than too much when it comes to spiciness. I added chili flakes. Yum! Great services! My husband got the Big Mountain & was happy with it. My daughter got cheese pizza which was very good too! I stayed in the Village this past weekend for a company retreat. Armed with a company pre-paid debit card, I was ready to hit the town. We walked around the Village earlier this afternoon, and a lady walked out of this pizza place with a couple boxes. My friend asked her how the pizza was, and she said it was the best pizza she's ever had. While that's really high praise, I'm sure this lady either worked there or has eaten way too much DiGiorno. Overall, the pizza reminds me of frozen pizza I've eaten in the past. The Fireside Pizza consists of Italian sausage, pepperoni, onions, peppers, and Portebello mushrooms. It was kind of bland. I liked the Big Mountain much better, probably because it was a meatier: sausage, bacon, pepperoni, and Candian bacon. Both pizzas were a bit soggy in the middle, and I didn't care to keep the leftovers. I will, however, recommend the buffalo wings. They're moist, tasty, and not too spicy. read more
