While driving home from Reno we were hungry. My son was craving pizza. After looking on Yelp, we decided to check out Dopo Pizza. It's located next to a brewery and it was packed. We were lucky to find some street parking. After looking over the menu, we decided on 2 pizzas and all shared. We got the TONY'S NYC. tony's nyc tomato sauce + mozzarella + pepperoni + sausage + oregano We decided to eat outside and enjoy the music from next food and the beautiful weather. I don't even know where to start! On a Sunday evening, I decided to take my husband out for pizza. I won't lie--I think the show I was watching may have sparked the craving. After looking through local restaurant reviews, Dopo kept appearing on the list, so we decided to give it a try. As soon as we arrived, we were impressed by the restaurant's unique urban charm, great ambiance, and beautiful outdoor seating area. We ultimately chose to sit inside and were glad we did. We started with a house white blend and a Caprese salad featuring burrata cheese--absolutely delicioso! The burrata was incredibly creamy, paired perfectly with fresh cherry tomatoes and vibrant flavors. Next came the Margherita pizza, and it was everything we hoped for: a perfectly crisp crust, savory toppings, and a satisfying balance of flavors. We later enjoyed a glass of red wine, which complemented the meal beautifully. The service was excellent, the food was outstanding, and even the music added to the experience. Last but certainly not least, we were seated at a high-top table near the kitchen, giving us a front-row view of the pizza-making process. Stopped in for happy hour on our way back from Reno. We tried their $10 cheese pizzas and $5 peroni HH special. Dwight from Hawaii was our waiter and was friendly. The pizza came out undercooked but he gladly remade it for us. We added prosciutto for $5 which made it slightly salty. Definitely benefitted from some chili peppers. They have a large and hot pizza oven in the corner of the restaurant. I would definitely stop by again. read more

We visited with a group of 10 over Memorial Day weekend. We got incredibly lucky and got a table in 5 minutes. (I highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time, even for a smaller group. The restaurant was packed, and it seems like a popular spot regardless of the holiday.) Parking can be a challenge as it's located in the middle of popular area. The lot directly next to the restaurant was completely full, so we had to park a bit further away. The food was fantastic. We ordered many dishes (more than the pictures I've uploaded), but the unanimous favorite across our entire group was the bolognese. It was honestly one of the best I've ever had. Had a great experience here for dinner. Went at 5:45pm and it was already packed, as it was the first Thursday of their weekly street fair for the summer. The service was fabulous, our gal checked on us many times always with a smile. We had the Cherry Picker pizza and the large Caesar salad. Listen folks, the large Caesar salad is enough for 4 people. We could not finish it. The pizza was sublime! Soft, pillowy dough, delicious burrata cheese, light tomato sauce, basil and fresh cherry tomatoes. Thursday evening 6:00pm. The place is packed inside and out on the patio. Bambie and me order the big Ceasar salad and the cherry picker pizza. It's plenty of food for two people. Honestly the $16 big salad is enough for 4 adults. The pizza is sublime. The dough is soft and has a satisfying chew. Doesn't feel like a heavy belly bomb after swallowing. Went to Truckee for the evening and came across this place. We are in Reno so didn't know there was a location in Reno. So we will have to check it out. We came about 7:30pm they were a bit busy but we got seated right away and the atmosphere was very nice. Our waiter Colin was amazing, he gave great advice on options and was very attentive. The food was amazing we got the tony pizza and added pineapple it was amazing! The pineapple was a sauce they put on top not actual pineapples slices which I actually really liked. update: To my utter devastation, they have taken the kabocha squash pizza off the menu, leaving vegetarians with very few creative options. The autunno salad had also decreased in quality, and was served with dried cranberries instead of pomegranate aerils (hugely disappointing and totally changed the flavor profile). The servers are nice and it's still a fine spot to grab a bite in town, but no longer has the pull to keep me coming back over other options - it feels a bit more generic now. read more

We had a great night at Dobo Pizza and pasta. There was a little mixup in our reservation, but the hostess was extremely accommodating and made sure my family was able to sit down and eat. The ambience was perfect in a new building in Truckee, a part of Truckee I've never been to before tonight. The service was perfect. The Italian beer and wine was on point and the food was delicious. We ordered pizza. We got a few for the table to share, and the pizza dough was seriously good. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. I also want to know that it was very clean. Can't do it anymore. We stopped going to Dopo for pizza (see previous reviews) but we were big fans of the budino (dessert). We'd eat downtown and swing by for budinos at the bar. But the last budino visit was marred because they made the dessert without any of the caramel. We got new budinos after we pointed this out. Tonight, the budinos came with so much caramel we couldn't work our spoons through them. They were wrong and hard to eat. So we're 86ing Dopo from our rounds. They either don't care or can't execute consistently. Dopo, you disappoint. read more

I am already a big fan of Dopo, so when I was invited to go check out the new location in Truckee I did not hesitate. This new location is in a newly developed building and area that looks really cool and modern with some big fun fire pits outside. The restaurant itself is cool because the front wall is just windows looking out i to the fire pits area. We were there for dinner but sounds like one of the unique things about this location is they open early and serve coffee and pastries which all looked like they would be really good. There was four us at dinner and as usual we try to go with people that don't mind ordering family style so we can all try different things. We got the Focaccia with Burratta, Beet and Goat Cheese, Salad, Fig and Pig Pizza, España Pizza, Spaghetti with Meatballs, and Bolognese. Everything was exceptional as always but wanted to highlight the beet and goat cheese salad which was very tasty with a good amount of goat cheese, and the españa pizza which was a very rich pizza but the honey drizzle balanced that out perfectly and was amazing. Stopped at this place for dinner after a day at the lake and it did not disappoint! There was a bit of a wait when we arrived so if you can, make a reservation. Our ever, I think his name was Alex, was super nice. Checked on us often despite it being a busy Friday night. Our food was phenomenal and came out so fast. We ordered a Cesar salad, toyns NYC pizza, besciamella, and marinara pasta. There is a nice nice and casual vibe. We sat inside and had a view of them making the pizzas. We checked out this new restaurant in truckee after a hike on Sunday. Love the vibe. It's big and open. You can see the pizza oven in the middle of the restaurant. A nice bar as you walk in. We ordered 3 items to share a salad, focaccia with burrata, and a pizza Cherry picker. Wow wow wow. Everything was so delicious. The focaccia is out of this world. The pizza dough is soft and chewy with a nice crust outside. Pasta wasn't available t lunch. I want to go to the Reno location to try their pasta. Great and attentive service. I'm sorry I waited so long to check out Dopo. It checks a lot of boxes: great food, friendly servers, not pretentious and reasonable prices by Truckee standards. There's sweeping views of the Martis Valley via floor to ceiling windows. There's an appropriate amount of sound deadening in the room so conversations can happen. Was there music? If so it was non intrusive. The focaccia apps were a standout. The Bolognese was not my cup of tea, but others loved it. Probably the classic spaghetti with meatball would be my next move. It's crowded. Make reservations. We arrived around 5:30 on a Wednesday. Sat at a high top as other tables were a 30 minute wait. Shared a Autunno salad and verde pizza. Both were delicious. The salad was adequate on dressed. So yummy. The pizza was heavenly. The crust was thin, crispy snd pillowy. Toppings were perfect. No beer on tap, only bottles/cans. This restaurant has an amazing vibe, the food smells incredible as soon as you walk in the door, and the service was friendly and had wonderful suggestions! The focaccia was literally the best ever served with creamy burrata and a pesto you will want to eat with everything you ever eat for the rest of your life. The pizzas were divine, the crust was incredibly light with just the right chew! And the pasta. Homemade noodles- we had the pappardelle and fettuccine and they were jaw dropping. So this is a really hard review for me to write. It's taken me 2 weeks to finally sit here and do it because I don't like giving reviews that aren't four or five stars. But here it goes.... A friend was visiting abd we decided to give Dopo a try. We were looking for gluten-free pizza and a Google search said that we should be able to find it here. Upon arriving it wasn't exactly the kind of pizza that I personally was looking for. That was not a big problem though because the whole menu looked great. There were other GF options and I was looking forward to at least trying something different. My friend and I decided to sit at the bar and the bartender was phenomenal. He was able to explain things on the menu, got my friend a glass of wine that she absolutely loved, and was attentive. I looked at the menu and saw a mocktail that looked good and I was excited to try it. Unfortunately it turned out to be a bottled mocktail. I was kind of thinking that since I was sitting at a bar and it was a bar item that it would be something prepared but no it was a bottle. An $8 bottle. Thankfully it tasted fantastic. So good in fact I took a picture and will try and order it. But again it was a bottled sparkly beverage, not like a prepared mocktail. Anyway we continue to sit there and wait for our food after having some pretty good discussion with the bartender about options. The bartender was very thorough and did explain that though the items were listed as gluten free they needed to specify that they had shared prep areas, so if my gluten issues were significant I might have some problems. Thankfully my version of celiacs is minor so I knew I would be okay. My friend ordered a pizza for herself, we ended up ordering a custom pizza for my husband, and I ordered the sweet potato flatbread with mozzarella. My friend also ordered a salad. So without drinks, our order came to about $100. We were hopeful because the descriptions on the menu sounded like this was going to be a really good experience. Couple that with a really cool looking restaurant, that was fairly busy for a Thursday, and the good service we had at the bar we were really looking forward to dinner! We got our order to go and went straight home. We got home, unboxed our food, and saw that I did not in fact have sweet potato flatbread but something like focaccia. I called to make sure and was told that no I probably had the focaccia, not the sweet potato flatbread and I was welcome to come back if I wanted to. But let's be honest, I was already home. I had already taken my shoes off! So basically I just spent 20 bucks on something I could not eat. I was starving at this point and getting really grumpy so I just decided to use the mozzarella on something I had at home. But I will admit I was really upset. I said to my friend well at least you can have the focaccia and she looked at it and said it looks nothing like focaccia but I'll give it a taste. She gave it a taste and said, I quote, "This tastes like a soggy saltine cracker, it's terrible." We then opened up the rest of the food. My best friend said the salad was great but not worth $18. Mainly because there wasn't much to it! For 18 bucks and no meat on a salad, we were expecting something that was share size. It was not. It was barely bigger than a side salad. My husband and friend then got to their pizzas and both kind of looked at each other after their first bites and said "well this was a disappointment." The presentation was great! But the actual taste delivery, according to them, was far from exceptional. It was just pizza, not bougie pizza, not even typical Truckee pizza. My husband said the pizza from raley's had more flavor which isn't really a compliment to either place to be honest. My friend said she was excited for a brick-fired pizza and instead it reminded her of one that you would just make in a regular oven out of a box. I know this sounds super duper harsh but this is exactly the words that were shared. All of us were so excited for a new place in town and yet again it's bland. I want to soften the review somehow but when all three separate meals were kind of a downer and the food total came to a hundred bucks not including tip, I really don't understand how this place has four and a half stars. I'd like to say I'd give it another try but honestly I don't have that kind of money to just dump and hope for a good experience. This is really a two star review for the food I mean, it was palatable. I'm bumping the overall up to three stars because the ambience, the service, and the restaurant itself was nice. But the food? Ambience, service, and atmosphere can't make up for lackluster food. I probably won't be back. read more

Pros: food was good Service was okay Cons: They don't have high chairs (or maybe we weren't offered one) For one small pizza(like 6 thin slices) one beer and salad was $50. We left still hungry but didn't want to order more (lol) Overall I thought the price was high compared to the amount of food we got. The patio is very spacious and inviting but not much shelter from sun or rain drops. The bar area is small and dark. However, the food is solid. I'm not local and came up for a birthday weekend. We went to Fifty/Fifty nextdoor and decided to head on back to check out Dopo the next night. It's a bit small inside but it was busy!! Hosts were amazing and got our big party seated fairly quickly even though the place was bursting. We brought a cake ourselves and our server Hailey was helpful and accomodating and keeping it refrigerated. Drinks were always full and she made the birthday girl feel special. We weren't sure about it but she let us use our candles and hang out for some extra cocktails (espresso martini was a hit!!) and was an exccellent server. Can't commend the restaurant for their level of service enough, from the host to the server to the bartender!! Wish we had this in SF but I will definitely be back next time I visit Truckee. Hey now! Dopo just moved to the top of my list for Truckee. Can't vouch for the pasta (yet) as we had a long drive ahead and wanted a solid meal after race at Palisades all day but not too much to get sleepy on the drive. Started with the Caprese salad that was incredible! Ever felt like the skimped on the mozzarella ? Not here - not today my friends. This salad was loaded. Nice mixture of tomato with just the right amount of balsamic glaze and fresh basil. There is plenty of outdoor seating which is fully covered and we chose outside. Good amount inside as well if you prefer it. Now let's get to the Pizza. You can't fake the black burns on the crust / they mean your pie came out of high heat oven 800F plus degrees. It was very fresh and cooked to perfection. We love a good spicy red sauce and we're a little concerned on the veggie option with a housemade pesto sauce but it was fantastic choice and the garlic confit was perfect to bring it together. One more thing - I prefer outdoor seating always but sometimes feel that the service is a little less attentive there. Not the case here ! Great service - we were greeted and seated right away by the host and our server was great - right there for drink order and very personable just the way we like it. A little personality can and does elevate a meal into an experience. Makes it memorable. A+ service and food.
