In sum, food and ambiance were great, service needs improvement. This was our first time at this restaurant; we went for my fiancé's birthday. Monday evening, 2 adults and our 2 1/2 year-old girl. I chose this place for its menu choices, being semi close to our house, having a casual ambience and reading that it was a spacious place and kid friendly. We ordered the meatloaf (chunky and full of flavor; mashed potatoes were well seasoned too, not bland as you normally find at restaurants - and it came with a generous salad as a side), the Reuben (generous amount of beef and the sweet potato were perfectly crinkly) and the mac & cheese kids meal. Mac & Cheese was generous with a home made taste and thinner sauce - all of us really enjoyed. The place is nice, yet casual; spacious but cozy. Next to an ice rink on the bar side, not too loud on a Monday night. Our server was very polite, but wasn't very attentive. We didn't get served a few items that we asked for but those still showed up in our bill. She did remove them promptly once we pointed them out. At first when looking at the menu i was very impressed. They have many selections and impressive choices but the few times I've dined at Patricks I've been very disappointed. Had the quiche tonight and it was absolutely horrible. It was obviously made ahead of time and tasted like something resembling a bad tv dinner. The french onion soup was wayyy too salty and did not even come close to what good french onion soup is supposed to taste like. The hamburger I had the other day was served on French bread. The patty tasted like it was from frozen and the french bread was over powering. Definitely a burger that I'd never order again. Food is expensive and sat in the window too long, when we got it the walleye fries you could tell. Our spinach dip came after the walleye fires, only after we asked about it from another waitress. It too came out barely warm Paying the bill was a unique experience. When you're bill arrives you must pay it on the spot so be prepared. Also our server stood their and waited...a bit awkward. Also, the mini iPad looking device servers use to order food is the same one you pay your bill, and it conveniently only has 18, 20 and 25 percent tip options. So I'd you felt you got adequate service and want to give the less than 18, it's just a bit awkward to have your server stand there and watch you do math. It's brilliant by management, to semi-force patrons to give higher tips to avoid awkwardness and math We'll skip this place next time and go down where else read more

Returned here today after not being here for a year or so and was really impressed. Staff said they are under new management and it was very noticeable. Was served fast and staff was friendly. Had Hawaiin blue marlin as the fresh catch and it was better than some downtown restaurants I've eaten at and it was half the price. I'll definitely be back and bring family and friends. read more

I liked the food here it was good. All four of us today were satisfied. The only thing is the waitress accidentally. Added buffalo chicken on my dish when I had said bbq. But I wasnt mad at all. I understand im soft spoken and it was loud. But overall a good dish,the macaroni at the bottom was perfectly cheesy. It's also my favorite noodle. My mom liked her Rice bowl and my dad though his simple club sandwich was done well. It did look good and they make it fancied up by having cheese crusted on the bread. That's a very nice touch on a simple sandwich. I would go here again as the food was as good. The atmosphere is just that of a bar with windows to watch the ice rink next door. read more

Great place for dinner - they take reservations, so I suggest making one as they do fill up. We had a group of six and got a round table. Excellent for conversation. Good beer selection and tasty margaritas. Most of us had the parmesan-crusted walleye. Excellent!! Nice large filet of fish with sides. You can sub other potatoes for the mashed (I liked the tater tots!) or get more veggies. The walleye sandwich has a different breading but was also very good. They have a private room (with doors) for groups. There was a graduation party there when we visited. Good service (prompt and friendly). I've had so many hit or miss moments at Fireside. There have been times when I would give 5 stars and other times when I would only give 1. They have a great menu! Lots of options and something for everyone. I've also been overall pretty happy with the flavor of my meals. Of course they are known for their pizza, and it IS very delicious. I've had a few times when my order hasn't come out right, but not every time. The bar is nice, but they don't know very many drinks outside of rails. I asked for a Sex on the Beach and they didn't know how to make it. Bartenders should be well versed in a variety of drinks from all over the country or at the very least look the drink up rather than asking the patron how to make it. Another time I ordered a drink that involves blending rumchata, a banana, and ice. My drink came out as rumchata on ice with a giant banana sticking out of the drink. It looked so weird. I told them to go back and blend it but the waiter said THEY DONT HAVE A BLENDER!?!? What bar doesn't have a blender??? A ton of Hockey families come here because of the rink next door. So be prepared for obnoxious and loud 8-12 year old boys running around. And the hosts and waiters will do nothing about it. They have let these kids take over tables that were meant for other people waiting to be seated. Grow a pair and ask the parents to move their kids back to their original table so that other people may eat, especially during peak business hours. So go eat at Fireside with low expectations and then you'll probably be pleasantly surprised. But go there with high expectations and you'll be disappointed. read more

A restaurant with amazing food and atmosphere can get away with okay/inexperienced service. This restaurant serves okay food (that's being generous), so its service should be top-notched to make up for the deficit. We tried this place three times before I decided to give one star, and every time, the food was okay, and the service was completely lacking. Most recently, we waited 20 minutes for coffee. I do appreciate the server being honest, at least, and told us she forgot. And, I may be off-base here, but I suspect management should focus more on hiring servers with experience (maybe even LOTS of experience, rather than friends of the family/friends of their kids) to try to make up for the mediocre food. Or, better food, and keep the inexperienced waitstaff. No one likes poor service AND mediocre food. Something has to make it worth it to come out. We still tipped 20% because that's what we do, but three strikes, that's it. Best of luck. Servers with experience can make a HUGE difference. As for the mediocre food: the hollandaise sauce was separating/curdling on the eggs Benedict, the breakfast potatoes were cold, and the eggs on the omlette were well overcooked, bordering on burnt (browned; dry and rubbery texture). read more

Beautifully crafted with generous piles of of tender corned beef, sauerkraut and 1000 island dressing, grilled to perfection on marbled rye bread! A kosher pickle on the side and hot seasoned fries to die for!! Add a ice cold tall Blue Moon beer garnished with a slice of fresh orange and it is outrageously good! We just ate there and we'll never go back!! It took about 20 minutes for our waitress to come and take our order. She was the manager. They served my husband some rancid rotten steak that I could smell from where I was sitting. Even the manager said that it smelt terrible. She said they pulled all the steaks and took it off the special menu. All she gave us in return was she took that off of our bill, took 15% off the bill, gave us 2 cookies and 2 free pops!!!! They didn't even comp his new meal. I was done eating before his burger came. My husband would have been so sick if he would have eaten that steak! My wife and I use to frequent here about 2-3 years ago.We always wondered why the owner went around to everyone but us and asked how everything was.We always have loved their bloody Marys.We went last week since forever and it took a long while before our order was taken.We ordered the asian fries and they were so sweet that we literally barfed.Its very sad to us because inspite of the owner we always loved all the waitresses and the bartender because they always had amazing service. First, I'd like to say that I live in Rosemount and we've eaten at Fireside many times since they first opened. I used to love the place but, since being taken over by new management, things have gradually gone downhill. Now it's to the point where I'm having doubts whether we'll ever go back again. Last Saturday, we decided to stop for dinner. Knowing that it fills up quickly on weekends, we showed up promptly at 4:55 and were seated right away. There were maybe a half dozen tables with other patrons. We put in our drink order immediately, and within 5 minutes the waitress returned with the drinks and took our food order. I ordered the salmon entree and my wife ordered turkey sliders. After 40 minutes, we still had no food and the waitress hadn't so much as stopped back to ask if we wanted another drink (our glasses had been empty for 10 minutes). Looking around, I saw that we weren't the only ones without food. The place was 3/4 full and yet there was only one table where people were eating. I finally flagged our waitress down and asked if our meal would be coming out soon. She said, yes, it would only be a few more minutes, and asked if we wanted "a salad or something" (we didn't). So we ordered another drink and waited. And waited. It was now 6:15; we had put our food order in an hour and ten minutes ago. My wife went over to the hostess station and asked to see the manager. He came over and we explained the situation, and he said he would take care of it. Five minutes later the food finally arrived (an hour and 20 minutes after placing our order), however, my salmon showed up minus the "roasted vegetables" that the menu description had promised. And my wife, who had ordered turkey burgers, got beef burgers instead. We explained this to the waitress, who apologized and said she would get us a replacement. This was the final straw, though. We got up and left. On the way out, the manager was very apologetic and said they would comp our entire meal. It was very nice of him to offer, but we had had enough at that point and declined. We left and went down the street to Rudy's Red Eye Grill. Although it was 6:30 on a Saturday, they found a seat for us and within 20 minutes we had our meal. Now that's service. read more

I actually really loved this place! It's a little loud, and I'm sure it can get cold...but we had a great meal here. I ordered the chicken wrap, and it was exactly what I wanted. Their house made chips are bad ass! And so is the ranch! Husband ordered the club, and it was HUGE! The fries aren't the straight up potato type, they have that weird battered texture to them. I know some people say "seasoned fries", but if you have gluten allergies steer clear! Ordered the wee little one a grilled cheese kids meal with fruit. That was the best looking grilled cheese I have seen come out in a kids meal, I was jealous! And the fruit was a big serving of fresh pineapple, cantaloupe and grapes! My 10 month old was in heaven! Been almost 5 years since I was here last with my wife. First time around I wasn't using Yelp, but that review would've read much like this one. Me, my wife, our toddler. She had sirloin, I had pot roast, toddler had fried Mac and Cheese. Toddler gobbled up the tater tots (sub for fries), but wouldn't touch the rest. We figured out he has a good nose for good food a couple years ago, and the fried mac ain't it. Server ran around for about half of our visit like she was "in the weeds", meaning overly busy and having trouble keeping up. She had three tables including us, and the place wasn't at all busy. Had one table after we left. Steak was cooked correctly. Pot roast was pretty good. Potatoes could've used some seasoning or something. Apparently there is a limit of one refill on your soda. I only got one anyway. We already had our bill before we were asked about dessert. Free cookie with the kids meal was almost forgotten by our server. Wife got a free sundae as it was her birthday. Wasn't till we were about to leave that she saw where it said on the chalkboard that there was a free sundae with each entree on Sundays (today). I wasn't asked about a sundae.... All in all, for a $60+ meal, it felt like $40. It will likely be another few years before we try it here again. read more

My husband and I have given this place several tries in hopes that it will get better because we have few restaurants in Rosemount. Each time we end up leaving disappointed. Everything we have tried has very little flavor. You get more flavorful food at McDonalds! The service is always so-so. We've been coming to Fireside since we moved to Rosemount a couple of years ago. There really aren't many other options in town, and we've grown fond of the place, really. Clearly a place for locals. Not sure why it's called 'Fireside' when it should be called 'Rinkside'. Lots of people going in and out wearing hockey breezers. This actually lends some decent atmosphere, and authenticates it as a sports bar and grill. The restaurant itself is nicely made, roomy, and fun. The food is not going to surprise anyone, and I have yet to try a meal there that would make it stand out as a specialty or anything to make the restaurant stand out. That said, the menu is extensive and should have something for nearly every taste. The biggest strike here is the service. The slightly below average service is about the most consistent part of our experience over the years. Your drink will go empty well before someone offers a refill. Your food will never be steaming hot. You'll never see a floor manager unless something goes wrong. After you are seated, it's a sort of mercenary process. Best advice is to get your own refills at the bar where employees are trapped in a pit and are forced to serve you. read more

Came in for lunch today and had the double cheeseburger lunch special with the tots. Overall it was an excellent burger and the tots were pretty stinkin' good! My wife had a half Rueben and Chicken Tortilla soup. The sand which was great and the soup was "okay". Overall, it wasn't busy and the food was strong. As a hockey mom whose son played here every sunday october-march 2012. I frequented this place a few times with fellow hockey moms. I liked the Bruschetta sandwich without chicken, Ahi tuna appetizer and green beans appetizer. Hockey kids usually like the chicken strips. Sundays are all day happy hour 2 for 1. the chicken nachos were good the first time and 2nd and third time very disappointing. They used left over chicken the 2nd and 3rd times. For today's dish I decided on the Big Kids Mac and Cheese because I needed the carbs for a bike ride tomorrow. The dish looked delicious when it came out with a very nice garlic bread stick on the side. I started digging in on one side of the plate.....hmmmmm.....a tad runny with a creamy, cheesy substance. I took another bite, looking for the tomato and bacon that I was promised on the menu......hmmmmmm....missing. I tasted the cheesy creamy substance and too many bread crumbs on top. The bread crumbs add texture but if you put too many on it, you get too much of a bread crumb taste and that's not what Mac and Cheese is supposed to taste like, right? Maybe I was brain washed as a kid? I did find some tiny cubes of tomato and I tasted them by themselves and they were flavorless. I still wasn't able to locate the bacon After a few more bites. EVERYTHING is better with bacon on (in) it but you have to be able to taste, or even find it! I'll keep this short and sweet: Date of visit: Wednesday, 5/2/12. 1. Food: I had the bruschetta sandwich with grilled chicken breast. It was very tasty! I would order it again. The french fries were average--I'd get a different side next time. 2. Ambiance: I don't know why more people haven't thought of this before--a restaurant attached to a hockey rink is a brilliant idea. It had a very cozy feel to it, similar to how the old Timberlodge Steakhouses used to be. NOTE: Wednesday night is karaoke night. BAD IDEA to go there on Wed. night (after 9p): very loud and a lot of bad singers seem to live in Rosemount, based on the quality of performances we heard!! 3. Service: TERRIBLE. Absolutely terrible. Hence the 2-star review. Our waitress (who never introduced herself, prob so we wouldn't know her name...we finally learned her name from the check) came over maybe 4 times total--we were there for 2.5 hours. She forgot my drink order, screwed up my friends' food orders, we had to track her down at the bar to pay...not good. This was my first time dining there, and my friend said that service is always terrible there and everyone knows it. All in all, I would say this place is between 2-3 stars, mainly based on service alone. I will be going back for a wedding rehearsal dinner, so maybe sitting in the "Warming House" (the private dining room) will improve my opinion of the place...however, for now, I will leave my review as 2 stars. read more

Have always been happy with the food, too, especially their new fresh catch fish of the day...which is very reasonably priced. I stopped going to Appleby's and Chili's because the food is so bland there...so this is a nice alternative. We typically get appetizers when we come here so I guess I can't say much about their entrees. But we have loved everything we've had! Not a memorable place. We had a "call ahead" for four people at 6pm on a Thursday evening. Turns out, 6PM meant, wait at the bar until we have a table ready at 630. OK, no biggie. I guess I'll get right to it: - Food: Decent (OVERLY expensive salad bar) - Atmosphere: Typical, not really anything different than anywhere else I've been - Service: Below what I would expect. Just nothing to make me want to come back or even feel welcome the first time. We saw the "manager" walking around in jeans and a t-shirt...we honestly thought he was some guy walking thought, taking food off of people's table - Dress for the job you want, not the job you have. The bartenders (for the 30 min we were there) had a better time flirting with each other and the servers than actually doing their job (hence the $1 tip for 4 drinks). First I just want to say the service was excellent! The waitress checked on us often and was very polite! As for the restaurant itself, it is attached to an ice rink and kid's play hockey games there. So with that said there was a lot of young kids running around the restaurant and the wait staff had to keep on telling them to slow it down. God forbid their parents do that! Geez. This is a nice place to hang out with friends and just eat and talk, not expecting anything special for food or ambience. The food looked great, but lacked flavour. I could give or take this place. We had a coupon for buy one entree get one half off. We were pleasantly surprised that you weren't limited to the entree items and you could use it for burgers, pizzas, or sandwiches. I ordered the Sirlon med-rare, it came overcooked to med and was tiny, I was also a little surprised at the amount of liquid on the plate. I didn't know if it was herb butter melted off the steak or if it was water from the veggies but it made things soagy. I liked the potatoes. Brian ordered the calzone. It was okay. I'm personally not of fan of calzones becuase I always think they are dry and need a ton of sauce. I ordered a glass of wine during HH and they give you a huge glass which was great and our waitress was very nice and took $2 off the bill since the steak was over-cooked. I think we will go back to try some of the HH apps or stick with the cheaper non-entree items. read more

Restaurant Review Fireside, Rosemount MN 5 out of 5 Stars Visited on 05/27/2021 As my group and I stepped through the door we were led to our seats within seconds. No wait and no hesitation from our server to immediately ask for our drink order following a handout of menus. As we got comfortable I noticed hand sanitizer at each of the high tops around us including our own. It was a great gesture by the owners and workers to stay cautious during the pandemic. The tables were already set with our utensils, napkins and condiments which was nice so we didn't need to ask ourselves for it. The environment was very laid back and casual. The lights were dimmed and reflecting off the walls. The music stayed consistent in the pop genre despite the customers being older. Less than five minutes later our waitress came back with our drinks and took our food order. We ordered a grilled chicken caesar salad, the chop chop salad and a cheeseburger with a side of fries. Besides the food items we ordered, I was very pleased to see the range of their menu touching on soups, salads, seafood, burgers, steak, sandwiches, pizza and even pasta. Most of these groupings are made up of at least five items as well. From my experience, most restaurants today stick to a main food type so I was pleasantly surprised. After waiting for no longer than ten minutes, our server carefully walked out with our food items. To my delight I noticed a complimentary garlic bread stick on both of the salads and the salads were pre tossed in the dressing. The dishes overall were exceptionally presented, clean and put together. As I took a bite of my caesar salad, it was much more flavorful than any caesar salad I have had before. The lettuce leaves were not too overpowering, and the chicken was thoroughly cooked through and full of flavor. As my fellow guests and I tasted all three of our dishes, they were all equally delicious. The french fries came with Fireside's own unique seasoning, not just plain salt. The burger was cooked exactly how it was requested; medium rare. Lastly the chop chop salad was unique and a salad I have never heard of before. It consists of a signature "wild raspberry dressing" that ties the entire salad together. Both salads were presented in this large bowl with extra large forks specifically for salads. This further represents the effort Fireside's staff and more specifically their cooks put into their meals. It is obvious that they strive to make basic and common meals go above and beyond. As we finished our meals, our waitress came over once more to refill our drinks when she noticed them getting low. The service never slowed and we were always met with our needs. Finally the check arrived and we reviewed pricing. There were free refills on pop which is always convenient. The burger price did seem expensive, however the size of the burger patty itself made up for the price difference. This always was concurrent with the Chop Chop salad. It was above a ten dollar salad but the portion size was true to the price. The only downfall is the number of televisions mounted on the wall. It just made it difficult as some of us would have to turn out bodies if we wanted to see the television closest to us. Overall, this was a great experience and I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Although it is not an extremely welcoming environment for younger children, it does have several arcade games and has a convenient location next to an ice arena and other small businesses. I would also recommend to come during the day for lunch as it opens at eleven in the morning with few customers and a lot of empty tables. read more
