Got a flat near the Y on a Sunday. I pulled in and asked them to pull the flat and put the spare on. No one in the waiting rm. mechanics standing around doing nothing in the garage. I have a truck full of kids. Service writer said it would be 2-3 hrs. I ended up changing my own tire in the parking lot in front of the business. I went up to one of the mechanics, playing on his phone, and asked if I could borrow a floor jack. He was nice enough to help at least. Under no circumstance would I ever give this place my business. read more

I had tires put on at another location (Ben White) and within a week my steering wheel was shaking, my alignment was jacked and my tire pressure light would not go off in my truck. I live closer to this location but they didn't have the tires I wanted so I went to the other location. I called this location and spoke with several different people, all of whom were extremely helpful, knowledgeable and sincere. Long story short, Kyle made my day and fixed every single issue that I had with my truck. He made sure that I was completely satisfied with my experience. Seems that the other store broke my tire sensor when they were putting on my new tires. I'll be taking more business here for sure! Thanks again, Kyle!!! read more

Here's a shoutout to Scott for being immensely helpful. I decided to have my wheels road-force balanced to determine whether a vibration was replaced to the wheels, tires, or wheel bearings. I brought it in with a shop and they brought it in fairly quickly. I asked them to let me watch, which they did allow. We ended up finding that one tire was bad and one wheel was bent. I had just bought this vehicle and the previous owner had replaced the tires only a few months before at a Firestone. While they cannot transfer the warranty, Scott gave me a great deal on a replacement tire. As for the bent wheel, I found another one nearby and I brought the car back to have it replace, which they did in only a few minutes. This was a much better experience than the oil change fiasco that I had here, thanks for showing me that you can do great things! read more

I have been to this place for alignment and inspections. So I can only comment on these 2 type of jobs. They have a service for alignment where you pay about $140 and you get lifetime alignment for free which I find is really useful. They have generally been very honest and the wait time is not that bad. I also took my Bmw to them when I ran over a dead deer (yes, I did call DPS to have it cleared from the road) and the guys checked the underside of my car in detail and showed me that everything was fine for only $15. read more

I have been going here for 17 years. They have been a solid B+ in the past. However the last 3 visits they have really gone down hill. What finally cost them my business was for the third, THE THIRD time they scratch/gauged my rear dually rims. So bad this time I cut my finger pointing out the large gouges on my rims. There are now tooling marks about every 4 inches. Kyle Smarr the store manger said the reason for their extreme incompetence was ignorance and that he did not know how to do it right. So if you have a truck and you do not want your aluminum rims all gouged up...stay away! read more

This particular Firestone is out to get your money! They told me I needed to replace the belts on my car in order to pass the state inspection and then wanted me to pay $168 for that service! A set of new belts for my car costs $48 from the local car parts store. I took my car to another inspection station and they passed the car without any problems. This Firestone also told my roommate they could fix her new tire which had a puncture. Then, after removing it from the vehicle, told her they couldn't fix it and furthermore, her car was unsafe for driving because her tires were dry rotted. They tried to make her pay for 4 new tires before they would let her leave! The tires ran fine for another 6 months and then a wrecker service patched the tire with the hole in it without any difficulty. My roommate did eventually replace her tires when she could afford it - but they old ones lasted 6 months and would have gone longer if needed. I am a long time Firestone customer but this particular Firestone is the PITTS! read more

I like coming here because its on my way home but you usuallt have to make an appointment because they are so busy. They seem understaffed and the staff either seems flustered or like they dont really care. Convenient location, affordable. Clean bathroom and nice waiting area with free wifi. Lacking in customer service and they usually give you a misleading wait time. Add 30 minutes to whatever they tell you. read more

This review is long over-due. I've gone to this Firestone location at least three times in the past few years, and I highly recommend going here for your next check-up or car repair if you live in the Oak Hill area. The staff is extremely professional, courteous, friendly and kind. I want to point out Phil, an older gentleman, who has gone above-and-beyond for me on multiple occasions. He has gone out of his way to help me, and to give me advice, more than once, and at no charge to him. I can't say for a fact that they don't over-charge for service, but I do think that they do the right things right. They are reasonable people. I think no car service place is perfect, there will always be some proverbial bump in the road -- but this one has been reliable and trustworthy for me. read more

I understand Saturdays are busy at places like this, but I waited 2.5 hours to get a flat fixed. Two days later, the tire was flat again because they didn't really fix the problem. I called and took my car back in, and had to wait another 2 hours for them to do what they should have done the first time. 4.5 hours of my life I'll never get back. 4.5 hours and I could have had 5+ tires fixed at any independent tire place in this town. read more

Stopped in at open (7am) to get 2 tires installed (ordered on tirerack.com and had shipped to store) and an alignment. Greeted quickly by Wade who went over everything and told me to expect a call around 10am. Received call at 10:17am notifying me the car was done. Came in and talked with Kyle who went over some things with me and got me on my way. No upsell pressure, friendly, and fast. So happy i ignored all of the negative reviews on this place. read more

I went there with new tires from Tire Rack for mounting and balancing. They mounted them ok and (supposedly) balanced them with a Hunter Road Force Balancer 9700 ( a good balancer). Well, they put 2 layers of weights on one wheel which prevents me from putting that tire on the front as 2 levels of weights hits the calipers. In addition, they put "rim" weights on my alloy wheels ( a no-no!), and, there were many weights all over the wheels (duh! Don't think so). Think they were balanced? Hell no! They bounced all over the road at 50 mph! And, of course they put the wheel security lock on the rear side panel (down deep), not in the factory location. Gads, how incompetent can you be?? Soooo....I went to a nearby tire center (not Firestone!), and they balanced the tires perfectly with only a few weights and none on the outside rim! Please do yourself a favor and your pocketbook a favor and do NOT go to Firestone Service Centers. read more

I hit a GIANT pothole in my car, leaving both right tires flat and both rims completely broken. Luckily, I had a wheel and tire warranty, but they werent wanting to pay for it all. Kyle (Manager, I think) was the most awesome person to work with at this location. He spent a week going back and forth with the warranty company trying to get them to pay for everything. Although it was hard to leave my vehicle there for a week, it was worth it in the end to have 2 new tires and 2 brand new rims completely covered. Ask for Kyle!! Highly recommend! read more

Above and beyond service! I went in today to see if they could fix a noise my car sometimes makes lately when I started it. I thought it was related to my brakes and explained my issue with Wade at the reception desk. Instead of taking my key and info and just saying come back later he asked if we could go take a look at it and hear the noise for himself. We went outside and tried starting the car several times but the noise wasn't there. Instead of just brushing me off at this point, Wade suggests we drive around to see if the sound I would hear could be recreated. And we do with myself in the passenger's seat all the while he listens to my car and takes the time to explain what noises he does hear and let's me know it's nothing to be concerned with at the time. He really took the time to reassure me my car was fine and not needing any unnecessary work. Thank you Wade for your incredible service! I got in my car late one afternoon this week to drive to Tyler, Texas, to do a day-long workshop. Before I pulled out of the driveway, my car's message board lit up with the message - "multiple bulb failures." Yikes! That sounded bad! Turns out, one headlight was out and one break light was out. Since I would be driving at night, I stopped at Firestone to see if they could help me out quickly. I had 5 hours to drive and part of that would be in the dark and needed to get on the road. Kyle was happy to help me and got me on the road in less than 40 minutes - and that included waiting for the part to come in from the parts store. I have been using this Firestone store now for about three years now and just love how Kyle and Phil and the whole gang are always so cheerful and helpful. They always make me feel like a good friend has just arrived. I can't thank them enough for their outstanding customer service. read more

My car suddenly died while parked at a business near this Firestone Complete Auto Care business at the "Y" in Oak Hill. I walked to their shop and asked if someone could help me figure out what had happened as my battery was only six months old, so the car shouldn't have stopped working so suddenly. The person at the desk walked me back to my car and asked to look at the battery, and explained that the person (from another business) who had installed this battery had apparently lost a bolt, so the battery connection was coming loose and therefore my battery was not receiving a charge. He tapped it back into place, and my car started up again! I also mentioned a concern about a tire with low air, and they filled the tire for me. He didn't charge me anything for any of this service, and told me to come back when something was really wrong with my car. Kudos to this Firestone location for a great problem-solving approach, and for being so genuinely ethical and helpful!!! I will indeed be back if I ever need anything done to my car. They went above and beyond the call of duty...you just don't see this kind of service very much any more!! read more

Be careful. Nice pitch up front but look out... Expensive. Will always find more and more and more things that HAVE to be done. Back end workers clearly don't care about your car. Left trash in my wife's. Damaged TWO wheels on my Mercedes. Parts cost more than double , even triple the online price, but won't let you order them because can't "warranty parts" that comes from others sources (like they get their parts from some "magic" store ) so they can mark them up 300% or more. Told my wife her oil "had to be changed", when she just had it done 3 days before. My back brakes were about to start causing damage (6 months ago, the warning light still hasnt come on). Will give nickel and dime labor discounts if you ask, but both cars ended up a fortune and they never stop asking for more, running up the bill, but the worst part is the total lack of care for their work. For the price paid, I would expect the white glove service of expensive shops like the dealerships, but it certainly isn't that. They still owe me the repair on my damaged wheels, but after some thought on it, I'm taking the loss and going somewhere else for my inspections. This was the closest shop to our old place so had three or four experiences, and always walked away feeling ripped off. The fact that I'm eating the wheel damage ( at a TIRE shop no less, you would think they could at least do that part right) and going elsewhere.... Find another shop. For repairs, go to Juke on the east side. Get your inspections at Kwik Kar on Wllm Cannon for $18.50 where they won't try to convince you there is some $2000 crisis they found with their "courtesy check"- some courtesy. It's the classic old school auto shop hustle and there are just much better options around. Don't do it. read more

I'd give them 5 stars on the quality of their work and service, however the waiting room reeks of cigarette smoke which I find extremely irritating. They smoke in the bosses office, right next to the waiting area. I guess they think having the door closed keeps the smoke smell out of the waiting area, but it does not. Everytime someone goes in or out of that office, smoke smell fills the waiting area, plus the AC system spreads it through the building. On two occasions I have had to go sit outside or next door at the MacDonalds as I could not stand it in the waiting area. This makes me extremely reluctant to return there for service. I almost went back there last week, until I remembered the smoke. Sorry boss, you need to smoke outback somewhere away from the store. read more

Oh what a waste of my time. I went for two tires, The web site made it appear that my local Airport Blvd store had what I wanted.....Oh no, they did not. The only good thing I will give them, is that I got a fair price on the tires. Other than that, it was not a good experience. I called in at 12:20pm, via the advice of the web site, and found out they did not have the tires I wanted, but for an extra fee they could have them shipped from San Antonio. I think not. Finally we found tires that would work for me, 40 dollars more than I wanted to pay, but fair enough. Now here is were it gets funky. I get to the shop at 1:30 thinking I had an appointment, wishful thinking on my part considering the website said to call for an appointment. No I was treated like a walk in. I needed an inspection as well, so I figured they could do that to, even though I had a voice in the back of my head saying go some place else, but I thought it would save time,,....ugh no. So the lady says it will take about two hours. Really for two tires and inspection, what was that appointment thing all about any ways? Fine do it. So I go to the gym, get in a good work out, and I'm back at the shop a little before 3:30. I see my truck on a lift, I'm thinking cool should be done soon. At 4:00pm I notice my truck is now in a service bay with the hood up, cool its getting an inspection. Thirty minutes later, I have not seen a soul near my truck, so I ask what is going on, I've been waiting now three hours, and for the last thirty minutes no one has looked at my car. They tell me oh it's because your car did not pass inspection, there is something wrong with the brakes. BS. My breaks work fine, no leaks, no squeaks. Oh no they tell me your fluid is low and we can't pass inspection because. you may have a leak. Really? My fluid was at an acceptable level, off by maybe a millimeter, but they now want to inspect my brakes for leaks. You were supposed to do that to begin with, hello. There were no leaks, all calipers and drums, and lines had no fluid spewing out anywhere, Until the mechanic decided to fiddle with my seal on my rear drum brake, and fluid came out. I watched him do this. Uggh yeah fluid will come out if you mess with the seat of a seal. So they insisted I failed. BS. It did not leak until you put your hands on it. So they issue me a fail and begin to start a pitch about going through my whole brake system. NO, NO , and H no. I paid my bill and complained about how unreasonable they were being about a simple inspection, when no fluid was present prior to them getting there money grubbing un scrupulous mits on my car. I took my car to another inspection place and what do you know, it passed with flying colors. Go someplace else for service. Not Firestone on Airport. read more

Have brought my cars here for years as they always seemed up front with me. I took one of my cars in for a brake job. The normal people I usually deal with were not there but I asked if this was the best price you could give me which the young attendant replied yes. I picked up my car later in the day and received the receipt. Still bothered by the price seeming to be high, I researched the parts they purchased to fix the brakes from the auto part shop that I know they buy their parts from. The price they charged me was over 2 times the retail price of the parts listed by the retailer. I know they get better pricing then the retail price due to the amount of business they do with the part store, which made the price they charged me even worse. I called a few days later simply to say that based on what I was charged for a brake job, I would no longer be bringing my cars to them. The gentleman (his name escapes me) was very nice and said the manager would be calling me. I never received a call from anyone so after 10+ years of loyal Firestone service, I am taking my business elsewhere. Charge me more for labor if you would like but inflating the price to your customer by that much is not ok. read more

Total RIP-OFF!!! This place not over charges for repair work they don't know what they are doing either! I took my car in because it was sputtering, like there was something clogging my engine, it had no pick up and died at stop lights. I could start it up again no problem. So I took my car to Firestone at the Y on SH 71 west in Oak Hill. They charged me the diagnostic of $90, which doesn't go toward the repair price..I never heard of this since I am new to Austin from Chicago. No where in Illinois do mechanics charge to just "tell" you what the problem is with your car. Well to cut to the chase the diagnosis was my distributor cap was leaking oil into the ignition system. When all was said and done it cost me over $520.00 for the repair. I was shocked at the exorbitant amount for what I considered a simple repair. That was done in Oct 2014. It's now Feb 2015 and my car just died again and the same problems started up again within 8 weeks after I got the repair. I didn't want to take it back there again. So I went somewhere else and they just told me that what they did at Firestone messed up my spark plugs. They (Firestone) sprayed some kind of gasket sealant on the distributor to seal the distributor cap from leaking again and they gooped up the spark plugs very badly in the process. I would have been better off not letting them touch my car. So DO NOT take your car there unless you are an expert at detecting major bullshit and are incredibly auto tech savvy! read more
