These guys really went above and beyond and had to call just about every parts supplier to get me back on the road. They were kind enough to give me updates during the process and had my car ready in no time. After the Firestone on Sam Rittenburg screwed me over and denied to see me, even after I made an appointment the day before, the Folly Rd location came through. I had made an appointment online for Sam Rittenburg for Sunday at 4pm. When I got there they denied me and said just because I made it online doesn't mean they had me on their books. They turned me away. I called Savannah Hwy and Folly Rd- and tried to explain the situation- not that I had waited until 4pm on a Sunday to call , but rather I was under the impression I had an appointment at Sam Rittenburg. Folly Rd was amazing and very understanding and accommodated me in the last hour they were open. Very quick service and very kind. I highly recommend driving the extra 15 minutes out to James Island rather than dealing with the rude people over on Sam Rittenburg. read more

I basically had to do all the paper work that the claims/store manager is supposed to do regarding the extended warranty. My tire rods were not place correctly. Alignment was poor, still pulling. Madison Campbell was rude when confronting him regarding the work yelling at me in front of customers telling me I don't know what I'm talking about( I am an ASE mechanic myself). On top of that my splash guard was missing retainer clips and flew off on the interstate and I had to pay for a new one. Do not recommend read more

Great service. I had a terrible creaking/squeaking noise in my suspension that I couldn't figure out my own. I chose to take it here because I work Monday through Friday and they're open all day Saturday and Sunday, so I figured they'd have plenty of time to figure out the problem. They figured it out in a few hours and had a super reasonable quote for the work. However, when I came to pick it up, the problem wasn't totally fixed. I took it immediately back in and Madison, the manager, immediately took it back in the garage and apologized for the inconvenience. I should also mention that this was at 5:45, 15 minutes before they were supposed to close. I fully expected to have to wait until the next day to pick it up but much to my surprise, they had it ready to go a couple of hours later. These guys apparently routinely stay past close to make sure they have their jobs done. When I picked it back up later that same night, the problem was fixed and they didn't charge me a penny extra. Very unhappy with the service and found the team to have no issue misleading the customer. Paid $300 for a service that wasn't provided and ended up costing me an extra $200 in repairs. When I returned to address the negligent service, the managers showed no regard or concern for solving the problems they had been paid to fix the first time and took no accountability. This review is strictly on the lack of customer service I, a woman, receive from Brett, the manager. I brought my car in about two weeks ago for an oil change. My radiator cap was left off during maintenance and I did not find this out until my car lost all of its coolant and overheated on the Atlanta interstate. In all the years I have gotten an oil change, I have always been taken to my car and shown the dipstick for the oil level and that my car has coolant. This was the first time and place I have not been shown this after the oil change. Thankfully my car is fine but when I called Firestone and spoke with Brett, the manager, he had every excuse he could find as to why my radiator cap "popped off" and my car overheated. Instead of taking responsibility for something that I'm sure has happened before, he spoke down to me and belittled me on my knowledge of my own car. I was very taken aback by the lack of customer service Brett gave me. He offered to drain the water that I had to put in and refill it with anti-freeze, but not before he claimed numerous times how little of a chance there was that the mechanic left the cap off. I have checked my coolant levels since this incident and there is no leak and no other issues with my car, therefore no reason for my cap to "pop off." I will not be bringing my car in to have this fixed or for any future needs purely on Brett's lack of customer service to me. read more

Justin was amazing. I was visiting from out of state and had a flat tire nearby. I called and talked to him and came into the shop and he was kind, professional, polite and made sure I was back on the road in a timely manner. I was a bit stressed out being so far from home and needing to get on my way to avoid driving late at night. When I first walked in they were so nice and said it would be a 30 minute wait. Just spent 3 and 1/2 hours waiting for my Tire to be changed. After being told 3 different stories by 3 different employees about how they were picking up a tire somewhere else 3 miles away) or The Courier was delivering it ect. They handed me my keys back and said sorry the tire never came after wasting my entire day and now I still have a lack of tire. They are now sending me to another location so I can drive in 5 o'clock traffic with a flat tire, because they weren't willing to get my tire so I can do it on my own. Nice guys. Brett has helped me twice and was able to have a Uniroyal tire delivered to their store (that only sells Firestone brand tires...). I had two blow-outs recently after having a brand new set put on. Brett not only understood my concern with wanting the same tire to match the rest but he took care of my request without hesitation. MADISON and JIM...are not qualified to be a manager of an auto repair shop. After calling and asking that full diagnostics be run on my car on 1/12 at 9:00AM, MADISON the store manager decided to only do a courtesy check and charged us $220 for a battery replacement as he felt this would fix all problems with the car. After hearing this and starting the car, we brought it to JIM the assistant store manager's attention that things still weren't running correctly and that we felt unsafe driving the vehicle. Our feelings were pushed aside as we are not car experts, and we were told to, "drive it around and see if the problem stops" as they couldn't do anything more. We even asked them if they could do the full $99 inspection and were told no. After all of this we drove the car off the lot and within 1000ft the car broke down on the side of the road leaving us stranded in a merge lane and we were almost rear ended immediately. After walking back to the shop from where our car broke down to seek help and guidance MADISON and JIM told us it was our problem and there was nothing to do. After pleading with them they finally decided at 5:15PM on 1/12 to help us and took our keys and called a tow truck to bring it back to their shop, and let us know it was their responsibility . At 7:00AM this morning 1/13...14 HOURS after being told a tow truck would get our car, we got a call from JIM telling us our car is missing and they can't do anything about it. DO NOT GO TO THIS SHOP. DO NOT TRUST MADISON TO BE A PROFESSIONAL. read more

Yesterday I had my Nissan Xterra repaired due to the brake lights not turning off and draining the battery. In two hours the problem was fixed and two new tires also put on. Charleston Nissan had told me last week it would cost $700 to fix the brake light problem (after paying a $150 diagnostic charge). Firestone charged me $170 to fix it. The customer service is outstanding. Special thanks to Jim Mcnay (Service Advisor) for being very helpful. He truly cares about the customer. After making the appointment, Jim even called me at home to say he had found two less expensive tires for me. Last year Firestone replaced the radiator on the same vehicle. Same great work and exemplary customer service. Will be using Firestone for all my auto repair needs. Highly recommend Firestone on Folly Road on James Island. read more

The workers here are trying to scam you and so desperate for money from people that they refused to change my daughters tire (a 17 year old girl and her friends) on a day trip to the beach for her friends birthday. It popped and they were 2 hours from home and needed a jack to put the spare tire on. They would not even lend her and her friends the jack to change it themselves. They wouldn't even do it for a charge or put a plug in the tire. It's ridiculous and put caused the girls so much anxiety and the man did not even say sorry once. read more

I took a tire, that had a screw in it, to firestone. I was told that my tire, has been patched too much, and that a new tire should be in order. I bought the tires brand new, and I have never needed a patch to this point. I asked them to put it back on the rim, I would take care of it. Upon picking the tire up, I was told that there wasn't a patch issue but actually too many punctures. I took the same tire to Treadquarters 2 miles away, and they did not notice any other patches or punctures. I called Firestone corporate, to inquire if this is normal business practice. The apologized and let me know they would make sure that management was aware of this issue. That said, they did not ask me what location it occurred at. At this point, I asked to speak to a supervisor, and the supervisor told me "This kind of practice is not encouraged." I asked if it was discouraged, "We prefer this not to happen." Even at the corporate level, I didn't get the impression that they consider this to be a problem. If I didn't know my car as well as I do, I firmly believe they would have tried to sell my a tire or perhaps two, because it would be safer. TLDR: The interaction here was very sketchy, and management does not seem to be surprised by these actions. I would be very careful going here, and only if you have to. Bottom line trumps ethics. read more

Will never go back there again! Was going there for oil changes never had any problems but bought tires last year and two already need replacing. Needed brake work done couple weeks ago drove off with brakes not fully working brake light and brake fluid flashing on my car checked brake fluid box and there was no brake fluid , got yelled at by the technician when I called about it and when I finally got my car back to them they said I had a leak in brake line, kinda funny I go in with squeaky brakes and come out with a leak in brake line. They also told me I needed my suspension system repaired giving me estimate of $2000 I took it to 2 other places and was told just needed front end fixed not the whole thing and it cost me $572. I would not go there again! I was visiting the area and had a 3 hour drive home and had a very low tire.. Went there to have them check my tire and see if I needed put the spar tire on and if the spar had to be used I asked them to put the other tire in the back of my car. That being said the guys checked it twice and said they could not find anything and the car was ok to drive. Thank goodness to my friend that demanded that they check it again which after the third time checking they found the leak. So I paid my bill and proceeded down the road. When I got 40 minutes away my tire light came back on and I pulled over to look at the tire. As I was looking at the car I noticed I could Not find my other tire . So I had to call a friend to go by the place and pick up my original tire. Five days later I got my tire and finally got my car fixed at Discount Tire which I do recommend!!!! read more

Thankfully, my landlord recommended this place and I've been lucky to experience this kind of customer service in a new place. If you've never been here, treat yourself to a quick oil change. I thought I had an issue with my brake pads, and had budgeted around $500 to get them all changed out (that's what everyone else quoted me). But, when I took it in to Firestone they just made a few small tweaks and told me I didn't need new pads for a long time. Ended up spending $9 and change for a bumper-to-bumper inspection instead. I can't stress enough what this says about the integrity of the business. Most mechanics would've taken advantage of the fact that I'm not car savvy and charged me as much as possible. They sent out an independent claims person who told the dealership it wasn't our fault but then told the claims department it was!!! On Aug 22, 2017 I had my car loaded up with my visiting sister, niece, nephew and my dog along with all beach needs when my tire split. We drove to Firestone on Folly Road in James Island and Sam assisted me. I was very upset and Sam was fantastic; he calmed me down and advised me on a tire as well as getting the car aligned because that is what had caused to tire to split. My go to place to service my cars that are out of warranty. It's not the cheapest place to get your oil changed, but the quality speaks for itself. Staff here is great, they go out of their way to work you in. I have had several sets of tires replaced here. Years ago, I was strictly a Michelin buyer. Firestone falsely advertises they offer complete auto care. The is a blatant falsehood. There are many things the either cannot or do not fix. And for these they recommend you to a repair facility on Maybank Highway that is either down right dishonest or incompetent, or both. We took our vehicle to that place and they charged us about $1,000 and never really fix the problem. In the process, the charged for fixing parts the vehicle didn't have. The problem with Firestone may be they are required to hire a mix of ethnic and gender employees in the name of political correctness. Some employees there are very professional, but it is hit or miss. And their services are expensive. I have to believe some of the positive comments here are plants. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this place. I've taken my car there for a lot of work in the last year and they are always honest, knowledgeable and professional. In the past, at other auto repair places, I've felt as though I might have been taken advantage of as a female who doesn't know a lot about the functioning of a vehicle. At the James Island Firestone I've never gotten that vibe at all. These are good people who are fair, shoot you straight and with respect. I highly recommend them for a number of services. (I've had to take my car there multiple times for everything from new tires and brakes to a battery replacement and oil change, wiper blades, you name it.) Great experiences every time. We are camping on a cross country trip. Today I found one of my tires was very low, most likely punctured. We were en route to Myrtle Beach and not able to leave our tire for repair. I live so close to Firestone that I would have no other reason to take my car anywhere else given the choice, had they provided honest, forthright, and good service. Firestone's customer service is great, when they are speaking to you on the phone or you are in the shop about to spend money. My 2018 honda accord had a low pressure warning, and after checking my tires I could not for the life of me figure out what was causing it. One tire was slightly low but not enough to be too concerned. I took it to firestone asking for them to take a look and, if need be, patch the bad tire. After they inspected my car, they called to tell me that "it could not be patched because it had a puncture on the inner wall. I would need to purchase a $200 tire to replace the old one." Wanting a second opinion I took it to the Honda dealership and told them what Firestone had told me. After multiple different inspections over the next 2 hours, Honda was unable to find ANY punctures AND found that the tire I thought was bad had been filled BY FIRESTONE to 57psi. The tire itself had a maximum capacity of 50psi. Reason for the low pressure warning had been that all tires had lost bit of pressure from the weather. So firestone gave me a FALSE inspection and filled my tire over its capactity in which case it could have popped with any slight puncture it "supposedly" already had. If there's a special place in hell for people who drive too much, I fear I may end up there. Approximately 40,000 miles a year is about what I average, and so I have dealt with many mechanics over the years. If something isn't dealer-specific, then I always lean towards mom and pop independently owned shops. However the Firestone on James Island breaks that trend for me. This place has become my go-to in Charleston. All the mechanics I have met there are good and reliable, nice guys, but one of the managers, Madison is counter man Numero Uno - a really helpful and super cool guy. He's how I wish everyone was in their jobs and dealings. A straightforward, smart, knowledgeable guy who is honest and takes pride in doing the best he can do with what he takes on. An auto scholar and a really nice guy, I'm glad I met him and will keep on going their with my Jeep repairs. Hopefully that won't be too often, but when stuff comes up as stuff does, this is a spot to check out for nearly all auto repairs and service. My two cents... read more

Do not recommend! Third visit to this location. 1st time called and set up appt when I showed up however they told me I didn't have an appt? (Strike 1)I had to wait for my follow up oil change and my free tire rotation for close to two hours only to find out that they didn't even rotate the tires. (Strike 2). Then two weeks later set up an appt for the tire rotation again, came 30 minutes early and saw car get pulled up after the job was completed. fire stone on james island sold me 4 new tires. 215/70 R15 on a front wheel drive 1999 ford windstar XL mini van. on the front passanger side they put a 205/70 R15. because of this my trasmission went out. this put extrem stress on the transmission telling the computer it was in a constent turn and it mean the two front tires are roating at two differnt speeds. this killed my van. now me and my child are forced to walk everywhere in this heat. i would strongly recomend that u save yourself the trouble and DO NOT spend your hard erned money at firestone. I trusted the to know what they were doing and now because of that i have no vehical and they dont car.I HATE Firestone and will never go there again read more
