I had a new set of tires installed at this store in 2023 with Advisor Alex and Technician Marko, and the experience was great. I also had tire rotation and alignment services done at Firestone in San Francisco, where they did a good job as well with an easy drop-off and pickup process. This year, I returned to the El Cerrito location for tire rotation and alignment with Advisor Alex and Technician Ivan after having major maintenance done at another auto shop. I want to start off this review by saying Alex, the customer representative was amazing and helpful throughout booking the appointment and getting us checked in. The real issues began while we were waiting for the vehicle to be ready. They estimated 45-1.5hrs to replace 2 tires. 3 hours later we heard nothing back. I had to call and ask about my vehicle, they then told me it was ready for pickup. That was annoying as I believed they were supposed to inform me as stated earlier. Next, while on the phone with the representative he advised me there were other work orders that came up I should take care of. (Trying to upsell me) he mentioned oil change, then said you've done that recently so I guess not (wtf then why say it came up) He then mentioned alignment and one other thing, I had already told them I recently had my vehicle serviced so nothing else was needed. During pickup, two older gentleman were there and not Alex who had checked me in. I asked for my vehicle and I thought they'd walk me out and show me the new tires and the work. They did nothing just hand me my keys and try to charge me again, when I had already prepaid for the services. This experience began well, then ended weirdly for me. Alex has done a great job but the other individuals did not. Since no one took me over to the vehicle or walked me through the new tires and job I hadn't noticed. Maybe this is why they didn't. When they removed my old tires you can see the black crowbar marked on my rims and both were scuffed and damaged. What am I supposed to do now? I'm furious took my vehicle and entrusted it to "professionals" and now my vehicle rims are scuffed and damaged. I came here three times to get an estimate for brake service and a transmission fluid change. Greg initially told me they could perform both services and would contact me with an estimate. After three days, they finally told me they could not do the transmission fluid change. They also said that because my car is heavy--an Audi A8--I would have to wait an additional four hours just for a brake pad inspection. After already waiting three days, this was extremely frustrating and unprofessional. Also, the inspection was not free as advertised. In my experience, they seemed more focused on charging as much as possible, especially when dealing with customers who may not know much about cars. I would not recommend this shop. They gave me incredible service to get me in and out in half an hour when I only had 45 minutes to get my new tires.

I have a 1990 Mercedes with 205/65/15 tires - Firestone didn't have this size so they suggested to me to order the tires from TireRack and have them shipped to them and they will install them for $180.00 so I did and when they arrived I notified them and made and appointment it was on a Tuesday I dropped the car off and added the wheel alignment to be all set - a few hours later I picked up the car head home then I drove to San Francisco for a meeting at my church. In the way home around San Pablo Dam road exit the car started wiggling on the freeway and almost lost control the next morning at 8:45 I called the shop and talked to the manager and explained to him what happened - before I left the house for the appointment I notice two rear flat tires I found out that the rear left tire had 5.5 lb of pressure and the rear right had 8 lb of pressure - when I arrived I was asked by one of the people that worked there what kind of neighborhood I lived in because some neighbors may have let the air out of the tires just to mess with me - that made me laugh so hard because it was the stupidest comment I've ever heard from a tire shop. I was also told that as standard procedure they replace the valve stems with every tire change and non of the valve stems were replaced not the front and not the rear - after the mechanic checked the tires it was both valve stems that failed on the rear tires and they didn't like the results in fact they verbally attacked my comment for pointing out the valve stems were not replaced. As you see I didn't mention any names nor did I mention how many stars they deserve - this is a severe customer service issue that needed to be addressed and if you ever use this Firestone location inspect everything they do before you leave. I still have the two front tires with the old valve stems but I didn't want to go back to this location at all and I will not recommend it to anyone. I am a Mechanic by education and I installed and balanced thousands of tire in my life time working at gas stations - it is not rocket science. But they make it look like they are god sent to earth. Backstory: My Toyota 4-Runner truck's passenger side, rear tire was clacking like it hit a large metal object while heading due West on Highway 80 towards San Francisco. Oh! What was THAT???? Anyway, I'm blessed being a AAA Member for well over twenty odd some years and more . . . Which reminds me: I must write a review for AAA's Tow Truck Technician, Pedro who rescued me this morning . . . Worse, Pedro discovered the spare tire had NO AIR and was over TWENTY-FIVE YEARS OLD which I bought at Firestone in Berkeley CA! Therefore, I made a desperate, immediate appointment where I contacted Firestone via the Firestone App; a few minutes later, I called Greg forty minutes in advance while enroute to El Cerrito checking if, the store had in their inventory, FIVE 16-inch truck tires in stock . . . Drumroll, please - - - Crickets can be heard transmitting between Greg's landline and my cellphone . . . "Uh~Alex . . . Do we have FIVE 16-inch Dest LE3's in stock?" ""Uhhh~No, Greg~We don't have any truck tires in the store. I must go get them from the Distribution Warehouse." Where I heard the conversation above then, the call was disconnected-OH, NOOOO! I immediately hit re-dial: Greg answers, "I don't know what happened! Anyway, please arrive as soon as you get here and we'll check all your tires!" Fast Forward: I arrived at 10:00 AM and it's almost 4:00 PM. The Firestone Mechanic, Craig had his work cut out for Saturday: 1. Remove all bad tires . . . Metal shards were found in the blown-out, flat tire; however, I'm blessed the other three tires didn't have metal shards otherwise, ALL FOUR TIRES WOULD HAVE BLOWN OUT CAUSING A MAJOR, FREAK ACCIDENT on Highway 80! 2. STILL, I prefer replacing ALL tires at the same time, performing wheel balancing, alignment, and more importantly, making sure my truck's rear axle wasn't damaged from the flat tire blow out! 3. Oddly, upon driving to El Cerrito Firestone, the "check engine light" illuminated which was strange: AS IF, my truck knew it was time taking it to Firestone Hospital, AGAIN. As Firestone Mechanic, Craig discovered through his thorough investigation, the throttle was missing a screw which caused the check engine light illuminating. Odd, indeed . . . Overall, I have never doubted Firestone Auto Care nor the Firestone Family who I was humbly honored filming the TV Show, "Monk." The two older black gentlemen in the front don't seem to care about new business. Waited around for 15 minutes and nothing. So I just left. It looks like the owner Lee S. sends everyone the same automated "We take every negative experience VERY seriously blah blah blah" message. But unless they do a complete overhaul and get rid of the toxic employees, I don't think he is serious about making any changes. You can't keep doing the same thing and expect different results. Stopped in right after I noticed a nail in a tire. They told me it could be repaired in about 1/2 hour. They immediately tried to upsell me into buying 2 rear tires. My mechanic just did an oil change, he would have told me if I needed tires. After waiting 1 hour, with no other customers in the shop, they told me it could not be repaired for some weird reason - like the information they needed was on the inside of the tire and they could not see it. When I asked why this took an hour to determine he said because of inspections. I said I did not ask for inspections, just the tire fixed as this visit was not in my day's plan. I expected them to roll out the car, instead the mechanic went under the hood to do who knows what. I have an excellent mechanic, I let no one else touch this car (BMW). This shop had no business under the hood of the car for a tire issue! At this time I got upset and demanded my car back. The service person started screaming at me that they had to do inspections. I am an 80 year old female senior, this is not acceptable. Basically, this Firestone shop tried to sell me 3 tires.The tire in question is not flat and I drove up the road to another tire place who fixed the tire without any drama or detail or doing unauthorized "inspections" This shop said the rear tires are good for at least 6 months when I told him my annual driving mileage. Took car in for vehicle inspection and they stripped my lug nuts and won't fix it and say it's my problem. Super unprofessional and inappropriate and incompetent for their mistake. They were the last ones to touch my car and I'm deeply disappointed and as a credit card holder and long term customer of Firestone services. Avoid like the plague. My rental car got towed here at 7:30 a.m. to repair a couple of flats. They were nice initially but clearly did not care. They stated they didn't have a voucher available. I called them throughout the day and offered to pay by credit card. They said they would try Hertz and call me back. They never called me back. This happened multiple times. After a long work day with calling them every break to check in, I conference called Hertz and Firestone at 4 p.m. to verify the voucher which had been approved for a while now. Firestone said, well, it's too late, our mechanics are all busy. At that point we had to tow the car to Oakland airport, costing me about three hours to get a replacement car. The. Absolute. Worst. It has the worst customer service! Yes I know they are busy and sometimes workers dont show up so they get swamped but that has nothing to do with customer service. If I go in person the guy in the front talks the same to me in person or over the phone. He is always complaining about how busy they are, how workers don't show up, how making an appointment doesn't guarantee them taking it in to wok on my car, how I can have a early morning appointment and it can be finished until the end of the day?!! I forgot his name but he used to work in Sears years ago! He was great then but not in this company, he might need to retire or find a job he enjoys! Professional, honest, and fair pricing - that's what I discovered with my first experience at Firestone Complete Auto Care at 10733 San Pablo Avenue in El Cerrito. My rear passenger tire somehow lost pressure over a few days that the car sat parked. From about 36 psi to 20 psi. It was a Sunday, so I was not very confident that I could get an auto pro nearby to look at it on the same day. I phone two other tire shops first - both said they would not look at my tire that day. Third shot was Firestone where Greg told me that their current queue is about 2-3 hours - so if I could get the car to them by 1pm or so, they could probably take a look that day. Pumped air into the tire back to a little over 36 psi, and off to Firestone I went. Greg gave me a $30 estimate ... and promise to call when the car was ready. Two hours later while enjoying some time at The Factory bar in Richmond with my husband, I got a call to come pick up the car. Firestone pros found a nail, but determined it had not punctured the tire. They removed the nail. The incredibly goodwill-building gesture - no charge since they did not need to apply a flat tire patch/plug! I would have gladly paid $20 just for their expertise. I'm writing this review 2 weeks later, and sure enough - the tire is holding the air pressure around 36 psi just fine. When it comes to auto repairs that Firestone can help out with, they are the first ones I will call next time. Thank you Greg and team! read more

I work for Enterprise Truck Rental at the Vallejo store. On my way to meet friends for dinner in Oakland, my 2018 Volkswagen Passat gave me a solid light to check my tires. I stopped off at the El Cerrito location right before close of business last Thursday. Fernando had a woman in front of me, but patiently addressed me and said he will help me after finishing up with her. I decided to check my tires and noticed a nail in the wheel wall of my right rear tire. Alex, the store manager, gave me a variety of options that were relevant for someone who needs use of his vehicle. While Alex was ordering a tire for me, after hours, I might add, Fernando was installing my spare. This all happened in the course of fifteen minutes and there was no indication of them rushing me out the door. For that alone, I wanted to give them business. I let them know I also needed an oil change and asked if I could bring my car by before the tire arrives, which they said would be between 12-2pm Friday august 25th. It arrived earlier, they completed repairs faster than expected, and provided great value for the excellent service provided. Greg held down the fort Friday and gave me updates. I brought my Tesla Model Y down to Firestone after seeing that my screen said (Air Pressure in tires very low). I went to the front desk and Craig was super helpful in assisting me to check my tire pressure and also putting air in all four of my tires. Ok. I don't know where to start. I would give zero stars if I could for this place. The WORST Customer service experience I had in my whole life. And I have been working at the customer service for more than 25 years or more. I used to actually run automotive service Shop myself, and I never treated the customers that way like this guy does... So to begin with, I called a shop to make an appointment for a regular inspection and I was on a hold for a while and nobody picked up a phone. then I went online and booked an appointment for 5:00 p.m. And after about an hour or so I received the missed call, and Firestone employee left kind of rude message saying even though I booked the inspection for 5:00 p.m. I have to keep in mind they won't be able to do any repairs on that day which was fine with me. I just needed the regular inspection. so I called back and that guy picked up. (I don't know who is he's the owner or manager,) so he said again the same thing what he said on the voice message and his tone was kind of rude already. and I specifically told him that I needed the just an inspection for Uber and Lyft, no repairs. he asked me if I could come in earlier, I told him I could make it by 4:45 if that better, and then he just said "Ah that's fine. just come in at 5:00." so I came in at about 4.55pm, as soon as I walked in the guy was looking at me and said in unwelcoming tone of voice "How can I help you?" I said I have an appointment at 5:00 for inspection. and he said "Oh you the guy who made an appointment?" I said yes that I was. I gave him the paperwork for inspection, and he started looking at my paperwork and said. "We can only do one inspection Uber or Lyft, you didn't mention on the phone that you having you need both" I told him that I did mention on the phone that I need both inspections. and then he says again now almost yelling and in a very rude tone" No, you didn't mention that, it's either Lyft or Uber?" he yelled. at that point I felt like being treated as a BEGGAR who walked in to somebody's house to beg for some money or food... that was so humiliating, and I had enough of this and, took the paperwork from him and I said " it's all right. I'll go somewhere else" and I walked out from that place. So do yourself a favor and take your hard worked money somewhere else, seems like this business doesn't care about customers, customer service, they just care about money, that's all. I don't know how they even stay in business with this kind of attitude and customer service. I see there are a lot of similar situations and experiences people had based on the negative reviews on this shop. I stopped taking my truck here to get fixed, cause their mechanics seems like they're unskilled. They change up mechanics every 3 months. One mechanic tells you what's wrong with your car and then when you go back they don't know what you're talking about, cause that mechanic that told you was wrong with your car has quit. They do half diagnostic checks, and don't fully check your car. They discriminate on their prices and judge you by the color of your skin, or whether you have a old car or a new car. They charge you more if you have an old car, and charge you less if you have a new car. There's a young looking teenager that works the front counter, and the manager who is an older white guy looks like he's gay. He switches his hips back and forth running back and forth through the shop Also they're very very slow, they give you an appointment and then when you go in they tell you that they're too busy to work on your car, and they keep rescheduling you at least three or four times. When you finally do get in on your appointment, like for example if you have a appointment at 7:00 in the morning, they don't start working on your car till 1:00 in the afternoon. So why give someone a 7: 00am appointment and their mechanics don't come in until 10:00am. So they take the whole day to work on your car and then want you to leave it there overnight. And then come the next day they still haven't gotten to it yet. Also if you have any complaints the district manager doesn't listen to you, and he is a complete nerd. I would take my car somewhere else & never come back to this awful place. Also their little waiting room is filthy and nasty with garbage stuff down in the chairs. I took my car in to get a tire losing air patched. I was told that since my tires were over 5 years old, they would not work on them. The tires have been on my car for only three years (with minimal miles and frequently rotated) and had over 50% treadwear remaining, but they still recommended 4 new tires since the manufacture date was 5 years old (or so they claimed). I priced the tires for the car online and the quote from this Firestone place was 22% more expensive then other nearby places for the same tires. I got my key, and took my car to TireChoice where they confirmed that my tires were fine and fixed the tire losing air for free. So instead of spending 1000 dollars on 4 recommended new tires, I got a free repair elsewhere. Will never go here again. read more

Pro: * called and they were able to take me in asap * good value Con: * they cussed out the customer under their breath in Spanish. Little do they know, I speak fluent Spanish. * rude and unprofessional. I waited full 15 minutes to be seen when people were just hanging out and making jokes. When I waved and said "hi." He said "doesn't that b**ch know we close early today?" Simply just rude. I have to get my car serviced as well and was going to get it done here while I'm in town, but decided to take my car elsewhere. Made an appointment for a tire alignment and balance. I arrived, was promptly checked in, and was told my car was next in line. During the service, Craig (the person working on my car) kindly asked why I thought I needed a balance. Turns out, I didn't. I had just gotten Costco to put on new tires (the week before). When Costco told me they wouldn't align (to my surprise!), I assumed they didn't balance either. Anyhow, Craig (at Firestone) was honest and transparent. Rather than taking my money for a service I didn't need, he made the adjustment -- which I greatly appreciated! I was out of there in just under 2 hours. Made appointment to rotate and balance my tires. Arrived and was told they didn't have enough techs so I'd have leave my truck. What was supposed to take 1.5 hours according to Gerald wasn't even looked at until 3:30 at which point I get a call because they needed my lug "lock" key. Well my lug nuts are what's called splined and every reputable tire shop has them except for these guys. I'm just lucky that they didn't work on my truck because I don't trust that their business practices don't carry over to their employees and ultimately to their work. I'm not sure if Sam is the manager but he was the one I dealt with and he is train wreck. I will not go back. The owners of this place are obviously not paying attention to the day to day business operations because if they were they'd see how much business that they are losing and they'd hire more competent front line people. I got the life time alignment, car is acting weird, called to get alignment and balance of the tires, the guy that answered said yes to balance (since I have to pay of course) but said no to alignment, I told him that I have a lifetime alignment but he said that I didn't need it. Called again to cancel appointment but the lady said that everything was to be done. Took my vehicle in for breaks to get done they call you to tell you what they discovered and how much it will be. He mentioned that it was a promotion going on. So I would get some money off. So when I got there, I paid for it & didn't think I had to mention what I was told over the phone. I have a Firestone card, so when I get my bill, I see that the money was not taken off. So I called & the guy looked me up & said, "Oh no, the promotion wasn't applied & could not be applied. it was the weekend, so they were short staffed, and they are underpaid, but they didn't even check to see if the new tires they put on were holding air, there was a big crack in one of my wheels that they missed. I never use these franchises and I'm not sure what I was thinking when I went there. To be clear, these were not the wheels on the car, these were an extra set I use for snow tires, so I was not driving around obliviously, (any more than usual), on these. I stopped by at Firestone Complete Auto Care for advise on my 05 Toyota Highlander's vibration issue at high speeds (around 80mph). I spoke with Alex and he patiently and professionally explained that there are several factors that might cause vibration problems. He suggested to schedule a visual inspection for $9.99. I was kind of suspicious about that deal at first but hoped for the best. I came in two days later, checked in with Eddy (Alex was on lunch break). Soon after they started working on my car, carefully checking all details and taking off all wheels. This seemed odd to me so I approached Eddy to reiterate that I'm just interested in the visual inspection and he said this was all part of the visual inspection. Alex soon showed up and explained their findings to me and suggested to a test drive on the freeway with a mechanic to confirm all was now well. Long story short, the issue was already much better after a tire rotation. Alex very professionaly explained what would be the next step if I decide to fix the problem completely, but also suggested to get a second opinion if I wanted. Three strikes and they're out! I have trusted Firestone in El Cerrito to care for my cars over the past three years. While the people in the shop have always been kind and responsive, I've had 3 wasted round trips to the shop this year. Two round trips were wasted due to part availability/ordering issues and one due to mechanic scheduling. I am frustrated with the amount of my time Firestone has wasted. Firestone offers a good value but after my 3rd fruitless round trips to the shop in a row, I'm ready to pay more at a shop that values my time. read more

I have been going to Firestone for a while now and always got good Customer Service. Today i went in and the service just wasn't the same. It wasn't horrible but it just felt different. I wanted to get a tire checked but they said they couldn't fix it. Left there and went to another tire shop they looked at it fixed it and in fifteen Minutes I was on my way. I hope I'm not over reacting but guys you have to do better. I'm big on customer service when you're in business it's the only thing you truly have control of. read more
