Dropped my car off at 10:30 to have my tires rotated and balanced. I get a call at noon that I need a whole new set of tires and here we even worked up a price. I asked them to please perform a rotation and balance my tires which is what I asked to begin with. Two hours later, they called and said the car was ready. I picked up the car and when I checked the tires, the dust was not even disturbed. They never rotated OR balanced the tires. This was your last chance Firestone. We've been loyal, paying customers for years and I'm done. Your service....or lack of is awful. read more

I ordered tires a week in advance only to get to my appointment and was told my tires wasn't ordered! They didn't even call me before I wasted my gas and showed up to my appointment! When the tires finally arrived they forgot to do my alignment and had to put it back in the bay for that! I won't be coming back to this location!!! read more

This place is a complete rip off. They want you to replace parts that don't really need to be replaced. They're trying to get all the money they can out of you and if you can't afford it they'll recommend you sign up for their credit card so they can screw you over with interest in the long run. I went in for a $200 heating hose because my expert mechanic friend said that's why my coolant was leaking. He even showed me where the hose was corroded. Firestone proceeded to tell me my radiator and caps need replacement ($1,300) little did they know I got that replaced 3 months ago. I know it's hard to find a good honest mechanic in the fort hood area but trust me Firestone is not the place go unless you want to waste your money. read more

We made an appointment for an oil change at 0900. Dropped the car off at 0845 and was told we'd get a call in about an hour once complete. An hour and a half later we showed back up to see if it was done yet, but was told they would need another hour as they forgot about us. Great customer service - we were told we were dumb right from the start for even questioning their synthetic blend option and that they couldn't do anything else, obviously it was more expensive than the standard. No apology or concern for forgetting to actually do the oil change; what is the point of even making an appointment if they just get around to it when you remind them to? We also enjoyed watching the employee finally walk to our vehicle while smoking and then getting in immediately after exhaling his last drag. Nice to know my time isn't as valuable as theirs as they stand around chatting with each other instead of actually doing their jobs. 10/10 would not recommend. read more

Made an appointment for Sunday at 9 am, was promised basic service by the latest 2pm. Called quarter til 3pm, was told they didn't even touch my car yet. Not to mention that they've been backed up from the day before yesterday and still made appointments and promises they cannot keep. Not to mention over charging for alignment of tires by triple the original which I took away immediately. The phone rep caught an attitude because I took those services off, coming up over $300 of services that I pay my dealerships and other auto rotator shops $120-150 tops. It sounds worse then when I went in to have them give me their opinion on what was wrong with it. Most of what they told me I already knew. This place is awesome. First of all, the only mechanic places open on a Sunday is this place, Walmart and sears. Secondly, Firestone was the only place that took our vehicle in to fix the fan belt so it was definitely worth waiting the couple hours for them to fix it (sears rejected us saying they already had two other cars to fix breaks on, it was barely 1pm btw). Anyways I'm glad Firestone was able to get the job done or else we would have been stuck in Killeen for the night. Thanks guys! GREAT service. read more

Zero stars not an option. Brake Service. Called and was quoted $180 an axle for brake service (including pads and rotor service). Found a $99 per axle coupon on internet. Dropped car off at 11:45am on Sunday...walked over to see a movie at Cinemark. They called about an hour later and explained that the "actual" cost would be $280 per axle (WITH COUPON). I chose to have just the front brakes done and left the rear for another mechanic than honors their quotes and coupons/advertisements. Car was done at 4pm. Would NEVER recommend them for a brake job. Dishonest quotes... does not honor coupons that say "COMPLETE BRAKE JOB- $99 PER AXLE". Nothing in fine print about replacing rotors or anything else. Deceptive practices. Probably 2 years ago I had the brakes changed on my other car for $300 total... both axles and they threw in an oil change at Brake Stop in Killeen. I will probably be returning to them for any brake needs or friend recommendations in the future. read more

I came in with a nail in my tire. Yes it was close to closing time but I have Firestone tires on my truck and purchased the road hazard warranty. I'm also not local I'm i. A different state. The facility is a nice looking place with 10 bays. The guy who greeted me asked how he could help. I explained my situation and he said he didn't have anyone who could fix it. ***DO NOT GO HERE*** While visiting friends our car sustained a flat tire. Due to having run flats, we did not have a spare and needed this resolved. With this happening on Sunday, NTB and Firestone were the only places open. After NTB recommending Firestone, we went there. After a few hours of waiting (away from the store), we were told that the inside rubber on both back tires was coming apart and we needed new ones, at the cost of over $900. My husband being a mechanic was not comfortable with the answers to questions he received. We filled the tire up to the max and drove 250 miles home. After getting home and to a local tire shop, it was discovered that they DIDN'T EVEN TAKE THE TIRES OFF THE CAR. I came in to get my tires rotated/balanced and my alignment checked. The guys in here were all very helpful and explained everything that I asked about. I ended up getting the lifetime guarantee for my tires and the alignment. I'll continue to bring my truck here for as long as I own it. read more

Good stuff first; clean store front, clean bathroom, polite staff. Now where to really begin... we dropped off the car on Friday afternoon for 4 new tires, alignment, oil change, and some minor checks and I was assured by "Josh" that it would be ready in 2-3 hours. He didn't ask for my keys and I didn't think of it until almost walking out of the store, not exactly an auspicious beginning. The car wasn't actually ready until near closing on Sunday evening. We drove less than 100 miles and the driver's side front tire blew out on I35. Thank goodness we had a donut spare. After a quick change we went to the nearest gas station and took a gauge to the tires, it turns out ALL 4 BRAND NEW TIRES WERE OVER INFLATED. Warranties are convenient but it doesn't balance out the stress and loss of time involved in having to change a tire on the wrong side of the highway at night because we weren't expecting to have it bust on us. Now I'm worrying if the oil was really changed. It seemed to be at the right level when we checked so that was nice but I couldn't tell a difference between the before and after as far as cleanliness or newness. Other fluid levels seemed to be topped off. Are the brakes really ok like the Firestone employee said? I don't know much brakes. Did the belts really need replacing? They looked ok to me before but I'm not an "expert." And were they even really replaced? What fun times we have to look forward to. Use extreme caution with this location. read more

I took my 2011 Chevy Cruze in for a coolant leak and they had determined it was the water pump. After spending 400 dollars, a couple of days later my coolant was still leaking so I took it back in. This time it was apparently air in the system and the guy who worked on it didn't bleed it properly. A week or so later my car overheated again so I took it back in. Now it was the reservoir that was determined to be causing the leak, so I paid somebody else to put that in as at this point I didn't trust the integrity of the mechanics at this shop. A week or so later my car overheated again, so I took it back in. This time they discovered a bad seal in one of the hoses (which would have showed up on both the coolant pressure tests that they have previously done). This was about the 6th or seventh time I've had to bring it back into the shop for the same issue. It is obvious that the water pump was a made up lie (common practice) and so was the reservoir to try to get more money out of me. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. My mother recently came to visit for the holidays and drove from South Carolina. Before she left, I took her car here for an oil change, tire rotation & a patch for her tire, which had a nail in it. Three hours later they called me requesting a review of the faults the mechanic found. Brake fluid flush, transmission flush & a new air filter. I called my mom and asked her when she had gotten her transmission flushed and she said she had it done a few months prior to coming out here to Texas... I asked the mechanic to test the brake fluid in front of me and the test passed. Then they told me they couldn't rotate my tires. I use to be in the mechanic game for a number of years and I know what's right. They refused to rotate my tires because of a false law they threw in my face. They tried to rob me of my money for faulty maintenance practices and lies. If they hadn't already drained the oil, I would've taken the car from there and done it all myself. All in all, my mother vehicle left that shop questionably safe for road conditions. The patch in the tire wasn't done properly as well and was leaking air again by time I got it home. I'm not surprised that this kind of shady business comes from a backwards place like this. I'll never recommend firestone to anyone, especially this shop. read more

The short version is long waits, over priced and immoral business practices. I have been living in the area for 12 years and have tried several different businesses. Dunbars Automotive off Rancier is a long time favorite of mine. Sure the shop isn't anything to look at and the employees don't have pretty uniforms, but they are honest and have very reasonable prices.There was a repair that the mechanic at Dunbars had guess wrong twice and repaired it on the third try. Since I had to pay for parts and labor on all three repairs, I became disgruntled and looked for a different repair shop. So I tried the Firestone in Harker Heights. I found that every time I went, there were recommendations for expensive repairs even when I went for just an oil change. I handed over about $4000 before issues with what felt like a front end alignment issue. When I brought it in, they said it needed $1600 of work to fix the issue. I couldn't afford it and told them I would bring it else where. Three of the employees then gathered in a huddle and spoke in hushed tones. Since I had purchased the lifetime alignments program, they did the alignment for what ended up being free and the problem was fixed. At first I was happy that I had avoided such a hefty repair bill, but as I had thought about what had transpired, I realized that they had lied to try and get me to purchase a repair that I didn't need. The other repairs that I had been duped into probably weren't needed either. It is these predatory practices aimed at customers that don't know any better that guarantees that I will never go to that Firestone again and I recommend that anyone considering it look to a more honest shop like Dunbars or Running Right Auto Care (right down the expressway from Firestone). read more

These people helped me make the best out of a bad situation. I had some clutch issues with my car. Luckily I work right next to their shop. Same day service, and the mechanics showed me the problem and coached me on how to fix some of the hydraulic problems (what the problem ultimately ended up as). I can't say enough how much I appreciate their service and professionalism. Many reviews I've read state that this location is overpriced. Well, to that I say, take your vehicle somewhere else and experience shoddy workmanship and pay your lower price. Paying a little more for having good mechanics do a good job in a decent amount of time is worth your dime. Period. read more

Two months ago I transferred here from Fort Worth. I had my car serviced at the Firestone on McCart Ave and loved it. I read the reviews for all of the facilities in this area and took a chance. I found all the employees to be very professional and attentive. The shop was busy and every bay was full and others waiting their turn. That speaks more to me than some grouchy persons negative review. The waiting area is nice with TV and coffee, and someone is periodically updating you on the progress. I'm glad I stopped in, and have made arrangements to return for several other issues that need their attention. You can trust that your vehicle will be in good hands here. read more

I was worried when my car needed its 30k service, state inspection and tires all at the same time. I knew it was going to cost. So I called up my local dealer and began the process. Well they told me they would call me back, but they never did. So I started looking for alternatives. I am a firm believer that a company needs to earn my business. I looked around and remembered this little gem from driving by it a couple hundred times. Well I yelped it like I assume you are doing and it seemed alright. I called them and told them what I needed done and was given an appointment for the next day at lunch. Worked great for me! I was greeted as I dropped off my car and was told about the many options I would have. I agreed to some and passed on others. My car took the entire lunch and then some, but I was having a lot of work done to her. So I just walked over to the restaurant across the street and then to the book store and just enjoyed myself as I waited. So yes I recommend this place not only for the great staff and excellent service, but also the location is great and you can walk to multiple stores to help pass the time. I tried to give this location a 2d chance but continue to be way disappointed each time I go there. Unfortunately I paid for the lifetime rotation, balance and alignment so I will have to try a new location a bit out of the way. Over the last two trips they have proven that they cannot fill tires to my manufactures requirements (32 lbs). 1st time, all my tires were at the 25-27lbs range when I left. This time they are all at 38-40 range. Improper tire fill will also throw off the balance which it has, causing it to vibrate at highway speeds. Pretty bad when a tire manufacturers service locations cannot even properly fill tires to the level I verbally requested and the sticker inside the door requires. Yes I could have gone back and made them redo it, however every time I go, even though I have an appt or they are not busy, it takes 90 min+ for a simple balance and rotate. They are always nice but they have zero quality control. read more

Horrible place!!! They make no effort to care for your vehicle. Its nothing more than a money mill. Failed to replace covers on my engine (twice on two separate cars) causing additional damage to one car. Left sump nut loose causing oil to drain out onto my driveway. Even with a reservation the wait is 2-3 hours. This place is HORRIBLE please save yourself the time and aggravation. Also, when you complain about something "oh we're sorry", you know what no I'm sorry, I had to pay for the additional repairs to my car. If they can't competently perform a oil change do your really want to trust them with anything more difficult? read more

I busted tires and did alignments about 15 years ago and the technology hasn't really changed at all. I have a 2013 explorer and I had four new tires installed as well as an alignment. It's taken 2.5 hours. That is entirely too long. I was sitting outside when my vehicle was pulled in and a tech opened the hood and lifted it about 3 feet, and then my vehicle sat like that for over 30 minutes. I've personally seen beat up cars go in and out of a shop in half the time. My vehicle is practically brand new. It only has like 27,000 miles on it. The only reason I came here was because of the price.The front end people are nice enough. But overall I'm not happy and I will be letting anybody who will listen know how I feel about this place read more

I called at 8am on a Saturday and setup an appointment for an oil change/tire rotation at 12:00 that same day (this service was to include their "Complete Vehicle Inspection"). I Dropped off on time and was told it would be 35-45 minutes from the time they got my truck in. I waited over 2 hours, and when updated was told that they were getting ready to put the new oil in. I watched the mechanic fill up the jug with the wrong oil and had to call them out on in. It took another 30 min. and they failed to notice that I have a check engine light on. They refunded me, but I will certainly never go back. They can't even do the simple stuff right. read more
