This place ruined my car with a battery change on a specially vehicle. They don't know what they're doing stay away.

I had an appointment at the Firestone on St George Ave in Linden NJ. I wanted an oil change and the TPMS light was on so I needed a new sensor in one of my tires. After waiting for 2 hours, I was told my car was ready, but , I needed a new battery and one of my tires was worn and need to be replaced Well, I purchased that battery elsewhere and it was approximately 1 1/2 years old with a 3 year warranty, so I said I would take it back to where I bought it and have them check it out, When the associate printed out my suggested repairs and the cost, I saw it included 4 new tires. When I got home, I saw that these tires, purchased from the same Firestone have 16,000 miles on them with a 64,000 mile warranty and I have an additional roadside warranty. This was never mentioned to me in store. When I brought it to where I bought the battery from, they said battery is good and I saw him test it and he showed me the results. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I filled out the survey that Firestone emailed me saying my dissatisfaction. The next day Marcellis who is the manager called me and left a message.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When I got in my car to go to work that morning, my TPMS light had gone on again. I called Marcellis back and told him what had happened. He told me to bring my car in the next day at 1 and he would personally take car of me. Brought the car back on 2/20 and spoke to Marcellis. Approx. 2 hours later, yes, you read that right, he came with the disconnected battery tester and said it tested the same. Now, he told me he was going to bring me out to my car when he tested the battery, and he did not. As I sat there waiting for what turned out to be 3 hours, I started to review my invoice that was emailed to me. This included an extremely blurry picture of the battery scanner and my old sensor they had removed. Next to the sensor it says right front tire, worn. It occurred to me that this meant that the sensor was worn and that it was the one on the right front tire. It also says battery required. Not the car battery as suggested, but the battery for the sensor! [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I stood up to tell this to Marcellis, he said that you just need the keys and got me my keys.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When he returned I told him my theory about the tire/sensor and he said "[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]Yes, that is the way Firestone has us write it up. We have to put that on the line with the tires and the associate will explain to the customer what it means. We didn't say you needed new tires, did we? and I said yes, all four. He then said oh yes, you wanted me to check your tires. He repeated "we didn't say you need new tires, did we?" When he returned, he said "the tire are a 5, so the tread is OK, but they have cracking so , yes you would need all new tires" He then told me he could not program my sensors. They are all working properly, but he couldn't access them with his scanner to program them and he didn't know why. It must be my computer on my car and doesn't know where else I could go to get this fixed, other than the dealer. On 2/21, I went to Atlantic Tire in Colonia NJ at12 noon at 12:20 they scanned my sensors and programmed them, I was in and out in less than 40 minutes with no appointment and they were packed. Oh, and no charge. They will certainly have all my future business. read more

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This store from technician to manager needs a class in customer service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They broke an item on my car during the oil change, made me drive the car 45 minutes with oil hemorrhaging from it, then [[HIGHLIGHT]]because I AM A WOMAN, they told me it was transmission fluid!!!!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When i got the part repaired by my mechanic (which yes it is a known issue with the oil filter housing, but there are known solutions via properly torqued to the recommended specs, checked at 2k rpm's for any leaks- which is the basic of doing an oil change on these jeeps clearly they did not even do the basics) but [[HIGHLIGHT]]when the mechanic handed me the part, the Manager Tonya tried to tell me the oil filter housing has nothing to do with the oil change.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] That "i know it sounds crazy but it's a completely different fluid". WOMAN TO WOMAN you should be ashamed of yourself. I brought my car here to spend money on maintenance, not thousands of dollars in repairs and cleaning fees. Instead they took advantage of my wife and almost blew up my motor in the process. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Sasha is a real winner too.. when my wife had enough sense to stick up for herself because she knew something was wrong- she told my wife to get out of the shop!!!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Keep your daughters, wives, girlfriends and sisters AWAY from Firestone. The train their technicians to deny any wrong doing for their service, kick you out after being nasty and rude, and then deny your claim because "they weren't the ones to fix it". WOULD'VE LOVED TO, IF YOU WOULD'VE OFFERED TO ACTUALLY LOOK AT IT!!! Attached you will see the "transmission" fluid Technician Sasha saw and turned us away based off of. Long story short, they are not strait shooters or honest business people. Take your car elsewhere for true diagnosis and repairs. Story below: We brought our Honda Civic in for spotty AC functioning. They reported that the AC needed recharged and evacuated. Cool, I don't know cars, I trust the "professionals." The next day the AC resumed its spotty function. It turns out the compressor needed replaced. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I reached out to the location and spoke to Neil multiple times in hopes they would make this right. No.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Their theory was that the compressor broke in the less than 24 hours between their services and the next time we drove the car. I don't think so. The crazy thing is, I would have happily paid the additional money to repair the compressor had they credited us the original repair. They would have made over $800. I took my vehicle on 8/25/25 to have a statement replaced. I was quoted a price for about $750.00. Once the car got to location by tow., I was then told they missed quoted the price. The price then went over $1000.00. I told them nevermind and I would have the tow return the following day to pick up my vehicle. After, I left, I received a call saying they would work with me and then quoted $888.00. I asked did that price include labor and tax. I was told yes. I go back and again the price change. It went to $945.00. Im beyond furious but need my car. I agreed. I asked what time would my vehicle by ready the following day. I was 2pm. I called at 2pm and was told they need two more hours. At 4pm we go to pick up my vehicle and now I'm told it wouldn't be ready until 5pm on 8/27/25. I bring my car to this location to get my company car serviced. I called in my appointment a couple days before. When I arrived there was no line and the service guy asked who I was and if I was leaving my car. I told him I was never told I had to. He said ok and took my keys. I went to the waiting room and waiting for about an hour for my car. I didn't pay because my company does, so I took my keys and left. A mediocre experience. read more

I had recently brought my car for inspection as well as brake repair, wheel alignment, and to fix the overall issues of my car. They charged a little over $2,000 & my brake light came on so I brought it back a few days later. While I was in the shop with a relative, they asked to review my car- we were waiting for over an hour. After they look at it they say one of my wheels is spinning faster than the other and it will cost another thousand to repair and that they did not fully inspect the vehicle after my relative insisted they did when initially given my car. My car now makes a noise when I drive and I did not have this particular problem until I went back to them. Due to a busy week I been trying to get an oil change for the past week from different firestone and they been busy or low on staff, I called in before coming to this location and had the pleasure of talking to store manager Andreu Norton Lee. Very professional person told me honestly their waiting time since all there lift was busy about an hour wait. I proceed and still came. Had my car checked in about 20 minutes of been in here. Outstanding service. Place is spacious, clean and organized. Bathrooms neat Carpet cleaned Flat screen tv in the area section. Coffee table and water stand. Air conditioner set at a perfect mode. Qualifications on the wall (plaques) Not many times I edit my reviews after I write them but just had to do a quick update. Not for ounce in the years that I have driving have I gone in for an oil change and gotten new tires placed as well. Aside from my oil change been done Andreu told me my front tires need to be replaced they were almost done. Meaning I can catch a flat on any given time. I told him sure to replace them. I use my vehicle to do Uber so most of te times I just focus on the oil change but thanks to this guy on checking out my tires as well I got them replaced for new ones. If your going to service someone always make sure to give them the best service you can as if you were doing it to your own vehicle. Wish every car mechanic works like this. Took my Rav4 there for a new spark plug/Coil in #1. They changed the plugs on all 4, never changed the needed coil. They are AWFUL. They used to be good. When I complained, they started saying that they were offended. Snowflakes working there. Will be tough to go through life having your feelings hurt all the time by hearing the truth. Not be be trusted! My husband brought his car because the tire that is under warranty from them ended up the hole. At the end of that day, my husband picked up his car and the guy said he fixed the problem with the tire. The next day, he noticed that it was losing air still. He decided to bring his car to his mechanic instead and was told that the problem wasn't fix at all. He works about an hour drive away from where we live. His safety is at risk when one cannot trust the mechanic you bring your car to. Very disappointed! read more

Very nice facility. My purpose for going to Firestone in Linden was to get 4 tires to replace the original equipment tires, which were Firestone Affinity Touring tires. I had gone online to Firestone and put in my vehicle's stats & that tire was one of several recommendations. I was happy to see that it was on sale (a special, buy 3, get 1 free); then I used the search for a location and found the one in Linden, which is close to home. I called them for information ~ to make sure they had that specific tire in stock in the size I needed. The manager, Andrew, answered the phone and was professional & knowledgeable. He quickly looked it up and told me that he would be able to get the tires for the next day. He also said that the price on the website was accurate, so I scheduled an appointment. When I arrived there, Andrew acknowledged me (he was working with a customer) and when he was done, he greeted me with a smile. He was able to enter the relevant information in under 3 minutes and told me my car would be the next one to go in, which it was. It took about 2 hours total (from my appt time until I was done paying), during which I took a seat in the waiting area; it's a section of the "showroom", so it feels open & spacious. The chairs are comfortable; they have a flat screen TV, coffee & magazines. In the back of that area are the restrooms (both mens & women's), which were clean. I passed the time by watching TV, reading some of their magazines (a fairly varied selection) and conversing with some of the other customers who were friendly. The waiting area is in the front of the store facing St. Georges Ave so there's light & activity. The temperature was fine even though it was in the high 90's with a heat index of 103° outside. The shop where the mechanics do the work has fans, but no A/C. You can just go there & hope it's not busy, but you may want to schedule an appointment so you don't have to wait longer than necessary while the work is being done. Suggestion: bring the following info inside with you: your license plate number & odometer reading; that will speed things along and not require you to make another trip out to your vehicle. I was putting it off for a while ,but it was definitely over due. They are very friendly here and really care about your business. They have a good lounge to go and sit back. It has comfortable couches and a tv. I know my car was definitely in good hands when they worked on it. Over all I recommend this place whenever you need your car serviced. I just left here 10-15 minutes ago. I needed a "Procontact" Run Flat tire.. called them early in the day ..they ordered the tire..called me when it was ready and it took about 30 mins to put it on. So far so good..everyone was super nice .. nonchalant for the most part since it was the end of the day. Out of all the places I called for this tire (including the dealer) they had it for the lowest price so I would come here again. i've been going to this location for about 10+ years & in all but 1 time(albeit a major one as it required 2 additional trips & a possibly contestable $400+ charge) service has been 4-5 star. I would highly suggest making an appt; you may luck out as a walk-in but many times i've seen walk-ins walk right out when told of the wait time(which is understandable on both sides) I've never had any other problems; place is clean, beverage stand, updated bathroom. FYI disregard the photo the owner put up of the outside; it looks nothing like that. If you're traveling north on St George after you crossover Stiles it will be a couple of blocks on the left right after Auto Zone easy to find. read more

I scheduled an appointment for 4 tires that were good quality with a bonus $90 visa card. When I got to the place, the man told me the tires were not available so I could not receive the bonus; he said the offer was not available yet. I told him they advertised it online and he repeated that it was not available. I had to have tires so I settled for 4 others. After installation he did say I needed an alignment on the front right, which was $89 and another hours wait. I didn't want to spend that so I said no. Other shops will do free alignment with 4 tire purchase. I posted this review on consumer affairs website and at first they told me they would forward the complaint to the store manager (for what?) and after I replied firestone responded with another email to reach them and I sent the email only to be ignored and never received any type of response since. I would not go to that Firestone or any other Firestone for that matter. Apparently you cannot bring your own parts ,you have to let them buy the part for you. My starter went bad so I had my car towed to the Linden Firestone and I spoke to the manager on the phone and said that I was going to bring my starter. He Informed me that they will buy the starter so instead of me spending $123 for starter, they bought a starter that cost twice as much.Bottom line is I spent over $330 to put in a starter. The labor charge is not the problem, it's the fact that I couldn't buy my own part that pissed me off. read more

My car broke down and was towed to Firestone (recommended by my insurance company). Within an hour or two, the staff diagnosed the problem and gave us different alternatives. We authorized the repairs and it was done faintly quickly. I work in NYC and got out at 6:00pm. I called and spoke to Jake and let him know I was on my way. He said they closed at 7:00pm, but would wait for me if I was just a little late. Surely enough, I arrived at 7:05pm and he was there waiting to greet me. It took another 10-15 mins for him to explain the issues and details about the car and accept my payment. I was having a difficult day with the car breaking down and it really made my night better by him meeting with me and staying late that day. What excellent customer service. It was greatly appreciated and I will be a loyal Firestone customer now to repay the kindness. Keep up the good work. read more

This is the second time that I have asked for my tires to be rotated and they were not. I made a small mark on the tires to confirm my tires would be rotated. When I received my car back the mark on the tire was still on the front driver side tire where I had made it. In addition, I did not mention that I had lifetime free rotation due to the fact that I bought all four tires there. The salesperson attempted to charge me for the rotation that never even happened. It's a shame, I like the convenience do to the fact that I can drop my car off, walk home and not have to wait for my car. I'm pretty sure this will be my last time there and will need to look for another service center. read more

I came to this place for oil change because they had a coupon for $19.99 for semi synthetic oil change. 1.) I had to sit there and wait for almost an hour for 10 minute oil change, way too long. Yes, there was 1 person ahead of me. 2.) They didn't give me a courtesy check, yet on receipt signed off as if they did. Courtesy check includes fluids check, and tire pressure, this is given on separate piece of paper. The paper that they didn't give me. 3.) This was supposed to be a $19.99 deal, I gave them coupon before service started, yet they charged me $24.07, which included a $2.50 oil filter recycling fee. This is first time ever an oil change place charged for oil filter recycling fee. I suspect that fee goes directly into managers pocket. 4. ) Whoever changed oil left a cigarette butt laying next to oil filter inside the engine compartment. This is a definition of unprofessionalism and zero caring about safety. read more

Firestone has lost a customer and many more if I have anything to say about it! Took my car for an oil change. 2 days later my engine light appears so I take it to my mechanic. As he removes the engine covers, he reveals that the "professionals" at Firestone neglected to properly secure the dipstick and oil cap. As a result there was oil everywhere! I had to purchase more oil to replace what was spilled and my car has never been the same since. I have had to have parts replaced in an attempt to get my car back to what it was. I reported the incident to the Better Business Bureau where I was then contacted by Sr. Claims Specialist Gil Leon who was tasked with handling my claim. I provided him with the receipts for the parts I needed to purchase in order to fix what Firestone broke as well as the receipt for the labor costs as was requested by Mr. Leon. Much to my dismay, Mr. Leon feels that the problems with my car was through no fault of Firestone and they refuse to reimburse what I am due because of their negligence. They will not take accountability for their mistakes. My engine could have seized and damaged my turbo had I not caught it in time. I am utterly disgusted with Firestone and their handling of their error and do not want this to happen to anyone else. I will not let this go but definitely want anyone reading this to know you're better off going somewhere else for service. read more
