I clipped a curb, slicing 2 tires on the driver's side of my BMW. Befuddled, I said "Bridgestone" (my usual tire shop) mot "Firestone"...My car was towed to Firestone on Sepulveda in Manhattan Beach. They were very pleasant/helpful on the phone; quoting me $600 for 2 tires mounted/balanced. After I hung up, I checked my invoice for 2 tires at Bridgestone: $400. I called Back asked why the big difference, and was told Firestone tires are superior by far. I hardly drive anymore--I don't need "superior" tires. After a discussion, the bill came down $175. When I picked up the car, my rims were filthy and my filthy spare was in the back seat not the trunk! I went walked back in asked nicely, and they put it in the trunk. This shop is simply awesome. I recently worked with Greg & Kenny to replace an expensive tire on my truck that was attacked by a 2" dry wall screw. They needed to order the new tire, but they were very honest and accurate regarding timing of the delivery & install. That helped me a ton in planning a hectic work day & getting the tire replaced. I've lived in the South Bay for nearly 20 years, and this shop, and these guys, are as honest, genuine, and hard working as any place or anyone that I have met. I brought my car in when the check engine came on and they quickly told me exactly what the problem was. Greg and his team were FANTASTIC at explaining to me what was wrong with my vehicle and getting me back on the road as soon as possible. Since I am very strapped for cash, Firestone has worked with me to help me afford the costs of repair to my vehicle. I've been dealing with this store ever since I got my first car and have never been dissappointed by the care and service that this team has provided me. I will NEVER go to another store because I truly believe that Firestone Manhattan Beach cannot be topped. Now my friends and family all go to Greg whenever we have car problems. When my car broke down in Goleta, California and I called Greg for his advice, he gave me directions to the nearest Firestone and even called the manager there to let him know I was coming. I absolutely disagree with the negative reviews posted above based on dealing with this store and its superior service. read more

My family has been going to these guys for over 30 years. A few years ago we decided to try another mechanic due to someone in my family feeling that they had been pushing to many unnecessary fixes on us. Last week my tire popped and I went up to firestone to have it fixed. Sam was extremely nice and knowledgeable. After taking a look at all of my tires, he noticed that my alignment had been out for a very long time and my tires were nearly ruined. Over the last few months I had been bringing my car into the other mechanic, telling them I felt the car was out of alignment...They must have not even checked correctly. I was very upset. Sam immediately tried to help me feel better and fix the issue for a great deal, he even fixed my tire for free to ensure that I trusted their work. I have a 15 year old Ford exploder so making sure everything is running correctly is very important. I set up an appointment to get my alignment fixed and some new tires for a great price. I also signed up for their credit card which is a great deal. My car is driving great again and I will definitely be bringing it back to Firestone. My guess is that Managing Partner Greg Gardner and team have made their reputation by being nice, without being particularly good at problem solving for customers. We took them our 2002 Honda Odyssey van, which has 168,800 miles on it, to address a noise in the steering. We knew going in there were deferred things that needed to be done, but we were just trying to keep the van safely on the road for the summer. The shop did a credible job fixing the power steering (an electrical connection) and doing an alignment. A few weeks later, another worrisome noise popped up, so we took it back; they said the belts were worn and we needed a new tensioner. Done. But when we drove away, there was an entirely new noise -- the sound of something rubbing against something else. This old buggy has a lot of undercarriage noise, but it wasn't that. It was something grinding on something else. So, we took it right back, mystified, near closing time at the shop. A very nice mechanic poked around, drove the car with us, verified the grinding sound but couldn't figure out what was causing it. Our son, who was driving the van to his summer job, lived with the sound for a week, then took the van back. When we called to find out if the shop had discovered what was making the new, grinding noise, we were told the car needed $2,980 in work, but they didn't know what what causing the grinding sound! Wow. In fact, Greg said he drove the car, and he never heard the grinding sound, which is implausible because it's impossible NOT to hear it if you actually drive the car. Our confidence was shattered. We picked up the car, drove it away -- grinding sound and all -- and are taking it to another mechanic. Nice try on the up-sell, but not so good on actually fixing the problem. read more

Well the good news is I was a drive in, after I called, and they did work on my AC. I had a coupon for AC check $19.99. What a deal and I was thinking that my AC was underperforming and in need of some help. After waiting about 30 min I go out to see what's happening. Well the hoods up but everyone is out to lunch. Literally every mechanic has gathered around a table in the parking lot and eating lunch. OK my bad for not scheduling a service the next day in the AM. Finally the job is done, were now an hour and a half after arrival and I'm told the bill is $170 plus. Well now you would think that if the AC needed Freon, as opposed to just a check, they might have told me. After all I was sitting in the wait room the entire time. Now I'm a beg boy and have some mechanical knowledge so I was not surprised by the charge. But, when you revise the initial estimate you get customer approval first not when the bill is do! Nuf said! read more
