Avoid this location. I've been a Firestone customer for over a decade. Generally had decent service at the McLean location, but the person running the shop now could not have been any worse. His lack of transparency and communication, combined with a smug attitude, made the experience brutal. The service was painfully slow and required me to call multiple times a day for updates. Poor service!!! WILL NOT BE BACK! Made an appoint for 9am on a Monday and my car was not ready until 1:30pm for an oil change, and only an oil change! I had called at 12 and they hadn't even started on my car yet. At 1, they said they were working on it and they called me just to try to sell me new tires - and my car was still not even ready. Luckily (or so I thought), the manager told me he would give me an additional $25 for the delay and inconvenience. They didn't provide me an invoice for the service. After I paid and picked up my car, turns out they never even applied the $25 discount. I called the manager, and he said there's nothing he can do besides "the next time you come back I can give you $25 off." ???? I will not be back. I came to Firestone for my full synthetic oil change and tire alignment. I scheduled my appointment for 3 pm and arrived on time to drop off my keys. I planned to work in the front waiting area until my car was complete, but was a little surprised by how long it took. After nearly two hours the service was complete, it was done excellently and was exactly what I requested. I recommend instead of scheduling an appointment later in the day, trying to just walk in as soon as they open so you don't have to wait as long. My theory is mine took longer because of how many non scheduled walkins were going before I got there. It does feel like the price has gone up quite a bit, I have a Firestone card and lifetime alignment for the car but was surprised by the $85+ price tag. read more

Loyal FS customer for 2 decades. Wonderful experiences with the Sterling and Springfield VA locations. I am absolutely appalled by the management of the McLean shop - specifically a gentleman named Richard. Early April, I paid $125 for my 78k mile Jeep Wrangler to get a brake fluid flush among other items. I also got oil changes on that and my wife's car within weeks of each other - both times the crew forgot to place the change sticker and reset the oil light and I had to call them out on it then and there, but that's just an aside. By mid-July, my Low Brake Fluid light illuminated less than a thousand miles after service. Richard informed me that I needed new rear calipers ($370/each + labor and tax), along with another fluid fill ($125). I ended up going for two more brake inspections (which I paid for), and the one garage said that the cause of the leak was a brake bleeding that was never plugged at the last fill - total negligence on McLean's part. There was no mention of caliper damage after I asked twice - just standard brake pads and rotor replacement. I researched calipers more, and traditionally, they aren't damaged in normal use or environment until at least 100k miles. I contacted the "socialcare@bfrc.com" email that's on Google responses, and what did they do? Instead of getting me in touch with an area manager, I had Richard call me a day later how the calipers were absolutely damaged and that he'd give me a new "lower" quote. No offering to pay back the brake fluid from April. This place is run by snake oil salesmen. read more

Stating this very simply, this is by far one of the worst garages in the area. No communication, no customer service (nasty and talk down to customers), terrible work, unprofessional, do not get your car when promised, so many excuses etc. I could go on, but we went in for a very simple repair, something that takes less than an hour to do, and they had our car for 2 days with no communication and empty promises when the car was to be ready. "We are short staffed," was all we received, then they tried to do more on things that did not need fixing. I would not recommend this place to anyone. As you can see from my other reviews, I almost never leave a bad review. I booked the 8 am appointment for my tires (it's their earliest appointment) so that my car would hopefully be ready by noon or 1:00. I dropped my car off the night before to avoid any delays. The next day, I called in around noon and asked if the car was ready, they said it should be ready by 5:00. Then while i was on my way at 5:30, I called and they said by 8:00 (keep in mind they close at 7:00). It's now 9:00 pm and I'm still sitting in the lobby waiting for my car. I'm down $112 worth of Ubers for the day and missed dinner with my family. Thanks Firestone. read more

After an unpleasant experience I think this will be my last time coming to this Firestone. After a routine check engine light diagnostic I was billed for the replacement of my catalytic converter. A couple weeks later the light came on again and I brought it in to have resolved. I had to bring my car in three more times to fix the converter. Once it was fixed a gamut of additional problems popped up apparently entirely unrelated to the $1500 bill for the cat replacement. I was patient throughout the whole experience and although I don't fault Firestone completely for these mistakes I am frustrated that my issues weren't able to get resolved sooner and get a real sense of what was the problem with my vehicle thorough out the process. Unfortunately I just don't feel this is a place you get have 100% confidence your vehicle will be serviced correctly the first time. read more

I was on my way to VA from NJ to pick up my daughter from college. About 15 mins from her. my battery light came on. I got to her, moved her out, and pulled into Firestone at 6:30. They closed at 7:00. I just bought a new battery from Firestone in Dec. Alex was the first to help me. I explained what happened. He said he could check the battery for me, but it was likely the alternator, and unfortunately, they would be closing soon and the mechanic was leaving. He asked if I could leave the car but I couldn't. We had no place to stay. and had to get to Boston the next day for my niece's college graduation. At that time, Richard was listening and asked if I could wait. He checked with Mr Cao (his mechanic) and came back and said "I cannot go home worrying if you are stuck on the road somewhere". I've called the shop last week and scheduled a tire change at 9 AM today, I dropped the car with the new tires, they were gonna do it and give me a callback , I called them 3-4 times, I was told that I would be able to pick it up around 6 or 6:30 PM in my last phone call with them, but they didn't call me at all, I called them again around 6:30PM , they said that they wont be able to do it, will have to schedule another time.. I've had service difficulties in the past at this station but they seemed to have turned over staff and things we're going well. Lately they've had staffing issues and its been difficult to get into them on a timely basis. I recently had to Vienna to buy $1500 worth of tires for one car. And, today I had to take my other car into Goodyear for new brakes. I said you're losing business. They're nice and said they have staffing issues. But, they really don't care. I purchased the lifetime alignment from Firestone in March of 2020. On my third visit (July 2021), I brought my vehicle in for my alignment adjustment and was told that I could not get it done because I have a Tesla. They told me that they didn't feel comfortable. Appreciated the managers honesty but really wish they would have told me this before up selling me the lifetime warranty. My recent experience : - No one answers phones. Placed on hold multiple times for upwards of 20 minutes - called to get tire replaced that needed to be ordered from warehouse. It was not ordered as promised bc it "slipped their mind" - when asked to have it ordered, and a call back confirming, I was told they were busy and had many customers and could not guarantee that they would call me back when it came. Called because I needed an oil change and an emissions and state safety check. I reiterated on the phone if all three services could be complete this afternoon & the staff member confirmed. Brought the car in and was given a higher than usual quote for my oil change, but I accepted because I was saving time by getting all services done at once. After waiting for a few hours, the staff called me to give me recommendations on service and I reiterated that all I needed was the oil change and the emissions and state check. Went back to pick up the car and realized no emissions check was done. Time killer! Will be going to the BP. Lack of attention, speed, and proactiveness. She drives all the way there and they tell her the inspector is gone so they can't do it. Went to have new rims and tires put on. They look great and the guys were nice however because I did not specifically tell the guy at check in the pressure sensors needed transferred from the old rims to the new, it didn't happen and I had to come back next day. Kinda seems like something a tire center would be aware of and check with the customer about rather than letting them leave with a check light permanently on that could mask bigger problems later. Fine for tires, tire repair. BUT beware this business is notorious for "recommending" unnecessary repairs!!! Notorious. Just now, I asked them to fix a slow leak in one tire. They recommended a new air filter, cabin filter, and new brake fluid. Both filters were replaced 4 months ago and brake fluid, clear as water, was flushed 6 miles ago. I have been going there off and on for the past 15 years. this place has gotten much worse. they quoted me 792$ for 4 brakes and rotors replacement. they charged me over a thousand when I got there. they know I'm already there and don't have time to go anywhere else. furthermore, while they were doing the state inspection they told me I need struts for 1600$. I knew that was bogus because I have been at the dealership 3 months earlier and was never told I need struts. I took the car elsewhere and it passed the inspection without a problem. This place is becoming a rip off place. They know you live in mclean, you probably have money and don't have time. They try to rip every penny out of you. read more

We took in my wife's vehicle for an engine misfire and they replaced the entire catalytic converter system on it and charged $2,100 for repairs. Immediately after pulling off the lot after repairs the light came on again for the same issue. After bringing it back in the said it was the engine which the would have known had they read the codes beforehand. Additionally they said there was no oil in it when there was, and the only way they could have checked it properly was if they drove it which they did not since it could not be driven. Called to purchase a set of tires and schedule an appointment to have them installed, balanced, etc. Said they'd call later that day or the next to let me know when to come in. The first flag was when couldn't tell me whether their own brand tires, ordered by them and installed by them, would be raised white letter or not. Second flag was that he didn't seem concerned either way. Well, for a $1000 purchase, it matters to your customer, guys. Regardless I never heard from them again, so I'll be going somewhere else. Probably dodged a bullet anyway. Apparently they don't really need the business. Update: As you can see below they responded and asked me to email them privately so they could "escalate" my concern. Did that, and...nothing. Hard to believe they're still in business. We had a great experience! We called on a federal holiday around 3:00 and asked if we could get a same-day alignment. We were told yes, just to get there by 4:00. Jeremy was super friendly and helpful. Our car was in and out quickly. We appreciated them fitting us in, their prompt service, and most importantly, being made to feel like valued customers. I joined yelp just to share my experience. I am a patient person but this store tested my limits. I drove to the store in person because they never answered my phone calls. I made an appointment in person two weeks in advance on a Saturday morning at 7am. Not the best time but I thought at least I would be first in line. The employees didn't arrive until 8:10 and didn't get my car into the garage until closer to 845. They couldn't find my initial reservation and asked if I even made an appointment in the first place. It took about 1.5 hours to check my brake pads and install new front ones. The price was good and they honored my coupon but the customer service is poor. This is unacceptable because the customer needs to trust what the mechanic is doing and saying. I do not trust this store because they seem unorganized and unprepared. I have to report that I had a very wonderful experience at this store. My Suburban needed new tires and I've known about it for over a month. Last Friday was my only real day off for the foreseable future, so I figured I would bring it on in and let them take care of it. Since the price for the actual tires seemed reasonable enough, I decided to add on an oil change to the work. My concern was that the tire replacement would have taken days, possibly into the following work week. They assured me that it would not take that long. I was pleasantly suprised when I received a call Saturday around noon to inform ne that she was ready to go! They included a bunch of other work like balancing the tires and disposing of the old tires. Not a bad deal for less than $500! read more

With the old Firestone location on Ft. Myers no longer operating, the Firestone in McLean is an easy 20- minute drive from the Ballston area for Arlingtonians. I called to inquire about a wheel alignment and was told to come in between 3-3:30. I got there around 3:15. They were finishing up on another car and took less than a hour to do the work on my car, including straighting up my steering wheel that had been slightly crooked for months.. They also gave me a chart that displayed the condition of the alignment before and after their repairs. The front desk man was very courteous and informative. And there was a selection of comfortable socially distanced chairs to sit while the work on was done. read more

Was referred here by a friend and first brought my suburban, which another shop could not figure out; Anthony was a true professional and extremely helpful; figured out tie rods and did not try and convince me to make unnecessary purchases/fixes whatsoever. Avoid this place, they are dishonest. Here's why: Took a car that was overdue for an inspection. First they wouldn't schedule an inspection without getting an oil change (otherwise would have had to leave the car multiple days). Inspection came back with problems that the car doesn't have. The estimate even included parts that the car doesn't even take. They wanted to replace three front sway bar end links. Anyone who knows about Honda Pilots (and most if not all road cars) will tell you it only has two sway bar end links, one on each side. Not only that, but they MISSED an issue with the CV boot. When confronted over the telephone, the service advisor whose name is on the estimate said he a) didn't know anything about the estimate and b) that he doesn't know anything about cars and he's only been working there for a month. He admitted that the employees all have each others' passwords so the name on the estimate means nothing. If you've made it this far, thanks for reading. My 2017 Subaru Forester's OEM battery needed a jumpstart at a NJ Turnpike rest stop. When I got home to Silver Spring, MD, I brought the car to a Firestone store nearby at 11500 Georgia Ave. First, they charged $13.49 plus tax to test the battery and tell me it should be replaced. Then they installed their MT35 battery for $194.99 plus tax. The Firestone battery has a 2-year full-replacement warranty. In retrospect, from New Jersey I should have stopped at the Walmart auto center at 6210 Annapolis Road in Landover Hills, MD, and open until 10 PM. There I could have had bought an EverStart MAXX-35N (North) battery, for $98.76 plus tax. Consumer Reports gives this battery a 5-year life expectancy. I'm not sure if there would have ben an installation charge at the Landover Hills Walmart, but the price otherwise is only half of what I paid at Firestone, plus the much longer life suggested by Consumer Reports. read more
