This place is really expensive, but it's the one where I've had my car repaired for years because it looked to me professional and legit. Not anymore. Two days ago I left my car there with a flat tire. They patched it. Next day the same tire is flat again. I bring the car back and they say they had to patch a second hole. Since I drove the car less than one mile, I asked if it was possible that the tire had two holes the first time I brought the car there. They became extremely defensive and rude, asking where this was going, like it was a normal thing that a second hole happened in the same tire overnight, and in the end suggesting I play the lottery. It was just $20 dollars each patch (yes, they charged me twice), but I may have left there $3,000 in repairs through the years and don't appreciate being treated as stupid just because I have an accent. read more

I went in to have a tire repaired, snow tires put on and have my exhaust system replace. It took about a day longer than expected but I was statisfied with the work and the price was very reasonable. Ed, one of the managers was a really nice person to deal with and explained things well. read more

I have had nothing but awesome service from these guys, which I realize sounds nuts given that Firestone is infamous for not being that great. I went the first time out of necessity when my muffler gave out, and have been going back since. I had tried new haven independent places (SKF auto) but I could never shake the feeling that I was getting taken advantage of- given that SKF had recently replaced my entire exhaust that Firestone ended up repairing, I suppose I was right. So I'm not sure what to tell the other commenters. Maybe there is new management? The current manager Greg is seriously great. read more

I had left my car there overnight after being towed with the keys and a phone number. They called me first thing the following morning for some history. Within an hour they called me back with a diagnosis and all the options. When I decided that ultimately my car wasn't worth salvaging, they let me keep the car on the premises without any cost for an entire week. We stopped here on a Friday afternoon on an interstate weekend trip because one of my tires was low. I had used a garage in New York two days before to remove my snow tires and put on my regular tires. They did such a bad job I eventually had to have three of them re-sealed. At this point in the trip, only one tire looked really bad. Firestone took us right away and did a great job resealing the tire. They have a comfortable waiting area and we were very glad to find them, otherwise the tire problems could have stopped our whole trip. read more

I could give them negative reviews if I could. The service here is horrible. I went there to change my tire at noon and I was told to come back by 6 since there was only one guy there they close at 6. I asked them if they could do it earlier and they said no. I went back at 5:50 and the guy was closing the store. I told him I need to get my car since I had to go to JFK next morning to pick up my daughter. HE SAID I DON'T CARE and we are closed and you should have come earlier. I told him that I was told to come by 6 and it wasn't going to be done before that. And it was only 5:50 and not 6. He sat in his car and drove away in front of me. My daughter's carseat was in my car. I have to go by train to pick up my daughter from the airport. Worst experience ever. I went there with my parents because our car had a flat tire. As soon as we arrived at that place, we did not know where we should go because no one was out there to guide us. So we tried to drive our car into the workshop. As we were trying to do that, a staff came out and shouted "get out, get out from the building" at us. I stepped out of the car trying to explain why we were there, but all I got from him were just a few more "get out". Finally he was willing to tell us that we have to park our car at their parking spot and go through the front door to make an appointment. Then, while I was trying to tell the receptionist what went wrong with the tier, the guy who told us to get out kept coming to me saying that I blocked their drive way and I need to get out while there was no other car and I apparently did not block their drive way. In the end I was told that they can not fix that tire until the next day because they had so many other customer in line, and everyone at that place just had very grumpy attitude towards us the whole time. For a moment I really thought they might be racist cuz my parents and I are Asians. But either way, to sum up, customer service at this place, ZERO! read more

Stay far FAR away from this place! I live close by and I've finally learned my lesson. Today, I needed to get my emissions test done so I called and the guy said to swing by and that they could do it; when I pulled into the lot I saw that there were three open bays. As I was getting out of my car, I was approached by one one of the workers and he asked what I needed and as soon as I told him that I needed an emissions test, he told me that their machine had been hooked up to a truck for the last 45 minutes and he was not sure if their machine even worked. When I looked at the truck in question, I noticed it was not even running and when I pointed this out to the gentleman, he told me that I could wait around until he figured out if the machine was actually working or I could come back tomorrow. Since it was then very clear to me that he did not want to take up a bay or the time by doing a simple emissions tests, I informed him that I would never ever be back, to which he replied by shrugging his shoulders. In the past, they have been rude to me, they have tried to charge me for a Firestone Diagnostic Check (a complete scam-do not ever agree to have them do one of these, NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAY-UNLESS YOU'VE GOT 100.00 BUCKS TO WASTE!) when all I needed was a new battery and as a general rule: if they say the job will only take 60 minutes-in reality it will take longer than 120 minutes and if they give you an estimate of $100.00, you will probably end up with a bill in the range of $175.00. They missed the obvious issue with my wheel. The back wheel was making a terrible noise during rotation. I was worried about a wheel bearing or seized caliper. They put it on lift (but did not drive it around the block) and came back with needed new tires. I looked at it the next day during light, and it turned out to just be loose lug nuts on the wheel that I mentioned was likely the culprit. Which suggests they didn't even really look at that wheel. It clearly wasn't a thorough check, or even a superficial one at that. Just spinning that wheel on the lift would have revealed the issue easily (which is what I did the next day in daylight after I jacked it up). Pretty disappointing. read more

I can only really rate based on one issue with my car- the brakes. I've taken it back here 3 times because they insured everything and did the work again for free. My brakes WORK, but not quite the way they should and they squeak BAD. They're quick and very friendly at this location, have thrown in a few extras like an oil change here and there, but I just don't have time to keep going back. read more

Don't go here!!!!! It's just a warning. I bought my car here about a year ago for a oil change and oil was leaking out so I bought it back and the said they forgot to do some plug.... So my husband brings it back on 7/2016 to get an oil change and two day later I notice oil is all over the ground at my job and when I get home I realize it's in my driveway as well so we bring it back and the guy Brandon right off the top says it's probably a transmission problem but we will check it... So when we return to pick it up the door was lock and closed and it wasn't even 5pm yet.. Luckily this kid Brandon was in the back came and opened the door and we got the keys and he handed us a paper saying it was some issue with transmission and it was going to cost over $1,000 dollars to fix( i have it all on paper). I became very upset knowing that my car had been running very well... And they wanted to charge us $100 to change a side light.... Terrible. So I took my car to JP Motors in Woodbridge Ct where I always take my cars and the oil was dirty as well as the filter and the plug was damaged... So they did the correct oil change as will as fix what Firestone messed up and damaged... So we will do what we have to do to get are money back from these need to go back to school so called mechanics... And today we went down and was fully refunded for what wasn't done.... Slow and dishonest. I came to patch up a flat tire and after waiting for over 2 hours while being the only customer in the room, they said the tire cannot be patched and offered me to replace all 4 tires. What a joke! I got my car and went to another repair shop that patched up the flat in 20 minutes for free. read more

I highly recommend this Firestone IF YOU WANT TO GET SCAMMED!!!! My wife took the car in for a routine oil change and they told her that a trans-axel was broken and needed to be replaced. They offered to do it for "only" $400. I wanted a second opinion so I took the car across town to Aquila Motors in Westville. The upshot: all the trans-axels are in PERFECT CONDITION!!! Must've been a slow day over at the Firestone... It's because of people like them that no one trusts mechanics. read more

Called in and made an appointment to have my oil changed. When I arrive, I'm told that I'm not in the system and would have to wait half the day. I leave because of work and call in to make another appointment for another day. I'm given a time and date but when I arrive, this time I'm told that I was given a quote but didn't have an appointment. Incredibly frustrating and the worker was not helpful at all. What a nightmare. Used the on line booking system to set a Saturday afternoon appointment. When I arrived, was told I didn't have an appointment and that the online booking isn't very reliable. After a $125 diagnostic of a check engine light, I was quoted a price on a canister purge valve of $610, parts only. The exact same part (same part number) can be found online for approximately $60. I brought my 2003 Mazda Protégé 5 in for oil change, replace headlight, and repair emergency brake. I was very pleased with the service. They did try to sell me other work that they thought my car needed. There was no extra pressure when I politely declined the extra services. I appreciate that kind of relationship with a car repair shop. They applied coupons to my bill that I was not aware of until they went over the invoice with me. I went once for a anit freeze leak, they said it was the top radiator hose, this hose is about ten inches long and right in front of you, two screws one on each end hold it in place. It' should not take more then five minutes to replace it. They charged me $200.00 then gave me a made up excuse of how hard it was. When I got home I opened up the hood to see & I was so mad to see how easy it was to replace it. It was absolutely a five minuet job. I called a part store and the cost of the hose was $10.00 ,had I knew this I would have done it myself for $10.00 After all was said and done it still leaked and it ended up being a bad radiator. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. There are plenty of good auto shops around New Haven, and this is NOT one of them, not in a million years. These are the most irresponsible people I have ever met. If you are lucky enough like us, to hand over the vehicle to them for an inspection, and getting back a huge inoperable piece of metal, you may want to think twice. Got 4 new tires done there, and inquired about other services and was never followed up with. The customer service is the worst, and their follow up is more worst. They act like they don't have time deal with your concerns, always rushing to get you off the phone or out of their location so they can rip off the next person. I would recommend you stay away from this location because they have no education or training when it comes to customer service whatsoever.
