I had previously purchased a lifetime wheel alignment. I made an appointment and brought my car in. The receptionist checked me in and I waited for my car. I know, from past experience with this store, I got the hard sell after the work on my car was finished. I was bracing myself for my prepared "spiel". I am broke, old and live on social security, etc. or use what my dad used to say "I don't have 2 nickels to rub together. Therefore, I was almost shocked when the gentleman came out, gave me my receipt for service and said NOTHING. Halleluiah - angels sang. I want to start by saying I have never left a review in my life -- that's how bad this experience was. I ordered two tires for my 2017 Ford Escape Titanium through Tire Rack at $117 each. After tax and shipping, the total was about $256. Tire Rack offered installation through Firestone for around $70, which seemed reasonable. I called this Firestone location to confirm, and the woman on the phone told me installation would actually cost around $150 -- more than double the price quoted online. Obviously, I declined, because I could get the work done elsewhere much cheaper. What was strange was that she said she needed to "check with her manager" to see if I was allowed to pick up the tires without having them installed. Odd, but I let it go. Fast forward to Thanksgiving Eve (11/26/25). When I arrived to pick up my tires, the same woman was arguing with a customer about his tire size -- completely unnecessary behavior, in my opinion. When it was my turn, I gave her my name and tire size and told her I was just there to pick up the tires. She seemed uneasy about that simple request. She walked into the service area, looked around cluelessly until she spotted the Tire Rack bundle, then came back to ask for my name again -- the second time. After confirming, she went back to her computer, then back to the service area to talk to her manager. He appeared irritated, gesturing and raising his voice. The entire interaction was visible through the large glass window. I placed my ID on the counter because I already knew she'd ask for my name a fourth time -- and she did. She finally confirmed who I was. No surprise. She returned again to speak with the manager, and after that walked back and told me to go get the tires myself and exit through the garage door. At this point I felt disrespected. There was a posted sign clearly stating "No customers beyond this point," yet they directed me into the service bay while a car was on a lift -- unsafe and unprofessional. It was obvious their attitude changed the moment I declined their overpriced installation service. If I wanted to spend $400-$500, I would've bought directly from them in the first place. Id like to start this review off by saying prior to my experience at this specific firestone location I have never left a review in my life.. that's how bad my experience was, So my experience starts off on a website called Tire rack where I was able to order some tires for my 2017 ford escape titanium at a decent price $117 per tire, after tax and fees for 2 tires it was about $256 . on the website before checking out it offered the fact that Firestone would grant installation for a fee of $70 bucks in thinking ok awesome, I call the location after I order to confirm the have it. sure enough they did which was awesome, only the lady on the phone told me I would actually be paying about $150 just to install my 2 tires , of course I declined that when I can have someone else put them on for much cheaper along with a balance or alignment. The woman on the phone which her name I did not get, I just remember her having a Spanish accent. stated that she will have to check with her manager to see if it's okay for me to simply pick up the tires with no installment which seemed weird to me but I digress. fast forward to the day of pick up thanks giving Eve 11-26-25 i arrive at the location and the same lady I spoke with on the phone was arguing with a customer about how he was purchasing the wrong tire size vs what he had already had on his car which I thought should have been irrelevant to her why argue with a customer lol? further more when it was my turn I told her my tire size first and last name and that I was simply there to pick up the tires, she seemed very un easy about my request, so she goes into the service center and looked around clueless for a minute until she seen the tires that had been banded together by tire rack themselves which I appreciated, then she walks back into the lobby and ask me for my name for a second tom, this time she verified the tires and walked back into for a third time to her computer to further more confirm, then she walked back into the service center to speak to her manager, a tall white male a bit heavy set, and he seemed to yell at her and through his arms up in a shrug, I could not at all make out what they were speaking about but it seemed as if he was unhappy, Mind you it's a clear window so I see everything that's going on and all mannerisms. Before she even walked back into the lobby I placed my State ID on the counter because I had a sharp feeling that she was going to ask for my name again and to be honest it was annoying me so yes for the 4th time she ask for my name and I did not say a word at all I simply pointed at the counter, she confirmed I was the guy who ordered the tires, no shi right? Further more she walks back into the service center and her manager says something to her that I have no idea what he said, but then she walks back to the lobby and tells me to come get the tires myself and walk out the garage door. At that moment I felt a bit disrespected because I was thinking "damn they can't roll my 2 tires through the door " by the way there was a sign in the lobby that posted "no customers beyond this point" I just thought it was petty and dangerous seeing as how they had a car in the air they were working on. I believe All the attitude came from the simple fact that I declined there service for there ridiculous prices, if I wanted to spend $400-$500 bucks on tires and service I would have bought from you guys in the first Place. They had me in and out without an appointment in under an hour. And did I mention customer service? A couple of weeks ago my tire went flat at 6:30am on my way to work. I happened to be right next to this Firestone and even though they weren't open yet, decided to see if the worker inside would help me anyway. He did all that and more. Matt first agreed to fill my tire to see if it was just a flat but after it deflated again immediately, he said my dogs and I could wait inside and he would get to my tire as soon as his guys arrived. He said they would be able to start by 9 which I knew put me to work very late but I was desperate. He was so kind about the whole thing. To my surprise, they got to it right around 7:30 and I was done much sooner than anticipated and on my way. The level of customer service was wonderful given what a bind I was in and I really appreciated Matt going above and beyond to help me out. I will make a point to return to them because of Matt. Huge fan of this location. I'm the worst at remembering when I need stuff done and always call last minute they are always super nice and accommodating. Never have to wait longer than a couple of days to get in and a lot of the time they are able to get me in that day for small things like oil changes and Emissions testings. I had a screw in my tire and contacted Firestone on line to schedule an appointment. After I did the manager called and stated I couldn't schedule and needed to bring in my truck and leave it all day until they had time to work on it. I said I'd bring it in at 8 am the next day. I contact customer support and asked why they had appointments showing available on line but had none available. They asked which location and for my info. I got the standard response "I'll send your comments to management" Before I dropped off my truck I took a picture of the screw with a tape measure showing how far it was from the sidewall (1.7"). After I dropped off the truck, the manager called at 10:23 am and stated "the screw is too close to the sidewall and the tire would need to be replaced". The tire would be $300, the plug repair $30. I asked what the standard minimum distance from the sidewall was. He responded "1/4 to 1/2 inch". I said we'll, that's odd. I took a picture of mine with a tape measure showing its 1.75" from the sidewall. To which the manager said he would double check and put me on hold. He returned 2 min later and said oh yeah, plenty of room to plug it. This was an underhanded attempt to upsell me something 10 times more expensive than needed. I understand they are trying to make money but, I've spent thousands there in the past and expected some respect and honesty. I have heard stories similar to this from friends about this location. Made an appointment this morning for an alignment & repair to be completed at 1pm the same day. Arrived to this Firestone location (6211 Chippewa St.) on time and were made to wait 58mins before being told the shop was closing "because the techs want to go home early" No work was done during this almost full hour of waiting. The repair is for a bad wheel bearing & alignment that shouldn't be driven on and this is our only vehicle. Exceptionally bad customer service. read more

I walked in at 4:05 pm asking for a tire repair due to a nail. Charles told me they didn't have any openings left as all the mechanics were booked. I asked if he could add a bit of air so I could try to find another place. He saw the exhaustion in my face and told me he would work it in himself while he was still manning the phones which were ringing a lot, and he was handling all the checking in and out for everyone else. I ended up needing the tire replaced due to the location of the nail. He did that for me as well. Not only was I out in about an hour, he did all this with kindness and compassion for someone who'd had a very rough day and this was the last straw. I inherited a 1992 Olds Cutlass Ciera from my Mom when she passed away. Unfortunately, she put a set of Firestone tires on it. ("But Mom...I used to work for Good-Year!") Fortunately, they did honor the free rotation & re-balance every 6,000 miles for me. The closest Firestone dealer to me is right down the street from a Dobb's Tire & Auto Center. (Formerly a company owned Good-Year location.) The two are vastly different in their business practices. I went to the Firestone location for an (overpriced) oil change and the free rotation of the tires. While I was there...why not check the brakes. The guy said, "Sure, we can do that." He mentioned nothing of an additional charge, until I paid for it. In plain, ordinary, American slang...WTF??? You already have all 4 wheels off the car, and you charge an extra $20 to look at the brakes. The front are disc brakes. There's nothing extra to take off...you're staring at the brakes as soon as the wheel is off. The rears are drum brakes. Big deal; you have to pull the drum off. That took an extra 10 seconds. The practice was (when I was in the business) to automatically check the brakes anytime a wheel was off the car. I double checked this with Dobb's. They agreed. Now if a customer strictly wants his/her brakes checked, yes, there's a small fee. But, if the car is already up in the air with all 4 wheels off...check the brakes for FREE! Previously, at another Firestone location, my Mom spent tons of money to have the A/C supposedly fixed. We brought that car back 4 times before it was fixed right. Then, they have the (pardon my language) balls to say they found another freon leak. I told them no on that repair. That was over 2 years ago. The A/C still works fine. Bottom line: Find a repair shop you can believe in. There's too many rip-off artists out there. read more

What I appreciate about this place is their honesty, surprising warmth, and willingness to help me out when a pot hole gave me my eighth flat tire in 2 years. They didn't know me and they certainly didn't owe me any favors, but the store manager worked out a deal to get me a used rim when the cruel icy freeways of rural Illinois destroyed mine. Just because of the covid no inside employees had any masks on and the place was filthy. It takes approximately 10-30 minutes to change a single tire and put a new one on, but instead workers were too busy smoking outside and store manager playing candy crush. They replaced my break pads as recommended service. 5 months later, breaks are squealing. Take it back to then to correct and all they did was put some lube on it. The issue persisted so I went to another location and they ordered new pads and replaced. Will not return to this location. read more

This one time recently I went to Firestone because my research led me to believe they had the cheapest prices on tires and installation. I got two tires for my crippled pony for only 225 installed with a high mileage oil change. During my wait I went next door to ghetto Club Fitness to workout thinking it would be like 1.5 hours or so. But they called within the hour! I was super surprised and happy about that. A few weeks later my crippled pony ( that screeches embarassingly when i turn the wheel and yes I've been ingoring it for a long time because it works and that makes my bank account work alright?) would pull pretty hard to the left when I tried to stop her. So, I went back to Firestone and was like what's up with that? After looking at it they recommended that I fix her front left leg because it was seized and not moving at all. That, I probably was turning her myself to straighten up rather than let her do the work and not even notice it cuz I've been letting it go so long. This work was around 500. They also recommended I do all this brake work that was going to be like 700. I just got my brakes looked at and worked on last year and I told them this so I thought this part was pretty bogus, which I didn't tell them. I got the recommeneded leg work done because I figured might as well, each time I put a chunk of change in my measly savings account I have this horrible suspicion that something is about to go wrong making my measly chunk of change into my savings account non existent. This pretty much happened so I went with it. To my wonder, my car is no longer screeching and the pony whee turns back to the front after I turn, and the ride is SO quiet. No chirping, no squeaking, no wheel turning hair raising screeching. And pony doesn't pull to the left anymore after braking, which car dude said that wouldn't be fixed until I got my brakes fixed even tho I was like it never did it before. Normally I would have gone to my guy at Star Auto and told him what these recommendations were. He seems very honest to me and has good pricing. But, I don't feel I was done bad by Firestone. I spent 580 in the end. And, it was worth it. I guess. Also, the younger front desk guy while not an ahole can stand to be a little more personable. I get the feeling every time i go in there that he hates his job and hates having to fix people's cars for them and hates having to talk to the people about their problems and ends up hardly saying anything to you except what is your name, what is the mileage and not conversing back to you when you are describing a broken pony. read more

Please be careful what you believe from this location. Our car was taken in on Saturday the 31st under the care of the service advisor (Joel). After inspecting the car we received a list of recommendations. We were told that if a few of these recommendations weren't repaired that our car would not pass inspection. The main repair being replacing the rack and pinion, because of a power steering leak. With a price tag of $1,032.24. We keep our car in the garage, and have kids, so I was surprised to have such a bad leak that it wouldn't pass inspection and yet have not seen any leakage on our garage floor. I checked the fluid in the power steering, and it was at the proper level. I took the car in this morning for a second opinion, and explained that I was told I had a power steering leak and that it would not pass inspection. I received a call a few minutes ago, and the mechanic said that he couldn't believe what I had been told, and laughed while saying he doesn't know how some people sleep at night running scams like this. There was a tiny tear in the plastic boot...no leak. Needless to say it passed inspection and emissions...and I saved $1000. read more

It only covered the wheel but not the tire (the tread was too low). I have been going to Firestone for pretty much anything I cannot do on my car. I am a seasoned mechanic, but the older you get the less you feel like installing your own tires and doing your own alignments with strings and tape measures. From now on I will be letting the paid pros do that. Fire stone has been good to me. They provide fast service, wonderful customer care, and they are always friendly. I have been using Firestone for over 30 years now. Up to now I have had no complaints. I made an appointment on line for an 8 A.M. for today several days ago. I called at 2 PM because I had not heard anything about my car. When I called to check on it the same unhelpful, distant, unengaged, poor customer service clerk (Amy) informed me my 8 o'clock appointment was a drop off time, not an appointment. The email confirmation said "appointment" not "drop off". Very disappointed in this poor customer service. A bit after At 4 PM I got a call from the Assistant Manager. He gave me an update on my car. It will be ready by 5PM. Since I am attending 5 o'clock Mass I won't be available to pick it up. He assured me he would keep my car inside for the night and I could pick it up tomorrow morning. I explained my frustration with the unengaged/uncommunicative front desk person. I also asked about my 8 o'clock appointment. He explained there were some issues with on line appointments. He apologized for my bad experience. He did a good job on recovery of poor customer service. If this type of communication had happened this morning I would have had no complaints. The front desk represents the face of Firestone and shop. Amy needs additional training when it comes to customer service or maybe she was just having a bad day. Okay they went from a 2 to a 3 and now a 1 star rating. When I picked up my car this morning the guy that waited on me told me an 8 o'clock appointment was just a holding space, not a real appointment. He also said I was not owed a phone call to advise me my wait would be 9 hours (8 AM appointment ready at 5 PM). I asked if they could put a disclaimer on the website. He said "no" as the policy varies from Store to store. So, my question is, what store can I go to where an appointment is an appointment and not a holding place or suggestion? I have been a faithful customer for over 30 years! The Manager called me to apologize for what happened. He asked me to give him a chance to make things right next visit. I scheduled a 9am appointment and waited in the store for an hour and fifty minutes before I checked out to only have a basic oil change and a look at the lock on my trunk. After an hour and a half I asked the manager Joel, when the car would be finished and why is it taking so long as I made an appointment and am waiting there. He told me that lots of cars kept coming in. So I understand now that my appointment time meant very little. He wasn't apologetic and he did seem to really be concerned about my waiting. Last time I had an oil change, I called and made an appointment and even dropped off my car early in the morning. When I called in around 2pm to see if it was done, they hadn't even started on it. Brought my car in because the battery was having issues. Had me pay $2,000 dollars in repairs to only return my car to me with more issues than I originally had. Car now continues to break down and now over heats which it was not doing prior to me taking it in. I had them look at it again, they came up with new issues for the car and are asking for $500 more to add more repairs because when they ran the diagnostic test (which I paid $100 for) they didn't even catch the problem that they are now claiming the car has. I drove the car a couple of miles and ended up at the Firestone on Chippewa. while I was there I was told my wheel and tire had been destroyed. I also needed to have a front/back alignment. I've been going to this Firestone location for a little over 3 years now. The service has been great and the pricing is very reasonable as well. I like Pierre, Robert and Kyle the best. They are super helpful and always call to discuss any issues before just charging you. The main manager can seem a little 'short' at times, but is also helpful. I always leave there feeling confident that my car is fixed and/or tuned up and I trust that these guys aren't overpricing or taking advantage of a blond hair female customer who doesn't know much about cars. read more

Firestone replaced my rear drum brakes in August of 2018. I took my car back in March of 2019 because the brakes were squeaking. They inspected the brakes and let me know the drums had warped. They honored their warranty and replaced the brakes free of charge. They didn't even charge shop fees or labor. Thank you Firestone for honoring your warranty and being honest with me. read more

Friday night 6:30pm and my car says that my PSI is 19 on one of my rear tires. I get out to check and sure enough a nail is in the tire close to the wall (dammit). Of course everyone is closed or closing. I called my local Firestone at 6:50pm and I explain my situation. The gentleman tells me they have several a.m. appointments but they can definitely fit me in. Saturday morning I arrive at 6:35am (i know, I know) and they unlock the doors at 6:48am (winning)!!! I get in they look at my tire to see if they can patch it (you guys are really trying to save me money?!!!), which they couldn't. They sold and installed a new tire within 45 minutes which is amazing because my son's bday party is today in St. Charles (kinda need all four tires for that)! The staff was great! The customer service there has gone downhill for years, but this Saturday they scratched our car! When we got the car back from an emissions test (3 hours later than promised) there was a large new scratch by the driver's handle. Manager Randy had the nerve to say 1) he was standing next the mechanic the entire time he worked on the car (which is completely unbelieveable), 2) we couldn't prove they did it!, and 3) that because we had a dent --barely visible-- at the other end of that quarter panel, we'd eventually have to repaint the car anyway.
