They told me my BMW had run flat tires and they couldn't patch the tire with a screw in it. They told me it was safe to drive home with the flat, so I did. I went to a different shop to have the tire replaced and they told me my car didn't use run flats. So Firestone gave me incorrect information. I've been a loyal customer for over 10 years mostly because it's close to where I live. In the past I found it to be ok. I didn't feel like I was being ripped off and I was getting both basic services like oil changes and fixing flat tires to more expensive work like alignment fixes, new tires etc. These last few visits convinced me never to go back. Usually I found the people in front to be ok a little indifferent but overall helpful. They now have a bald man who looks pretty angry and is curt and dismissive. He treats you like you know nothing and barks out answers to questions you dare to ask. I wouldn't even mind this rude man so much but he never told me when I went in that the oil change prices went up by $20 in one year. For an old car paying $75 for synthetic oil which I'm sure I don't need is crazy. They don't inspect the vehicle or even clean the windows or rotate the tires something their competitors do for half the price. You have to make an appointment but no one even confirms this for 24 hours. You write to the corporation about your negative experience and never hear back. They don't really care on a corporate or local level about losing a long term customer. read more

Horrible. I really am always sad to write bad reviews. So I'll say that each of the employees individually was pretty good- polite. However, the operation as a whole was, subpar (to say the least). I made an appointment for "earliest possible" on a weekday, which was 9am. I was told it would take an hour/hour and a half. IT TOOK TWO HOURS AND 45 MIN!!! And they did not acknowledge me or inform me along the way of the progress. I understand that sometimes things take a long time, or perhaps there are delays due to reasons unbeknownst to me, but if you inform your customers of progress, etc... it goes a long way! I am thoroughly satisfied by how efficient these guys are and how well they take care of their guests. This review is to let Firestone in Santa Monica know that the store needs to be more attentive to their customers needs. I took my car into the Santa Monica location for an oil change and they returned my car to me 7 hours later. I will admit my appointment was not until 11:00 am but there were three people already there. In what world does it take 7 hrs to change oil. The people that work there was a little short with me when i called at 3:00 pm to inquire about my vehicle. I was told it was next in line which turned out to be three hours later. The cost was being picked up by Silverock which is a lousy maintenance car insurance company in itself. You guys need to seriously hire new and professional staff members at this establishment. They were extremely slow with their car services. Some of the mechanics were chit-chatting and standing around while there were a slew of cars sitting around waiting to get serviced. I came into this shop twice and the second time was to get my car re-checked from the day prior's inspection. June 15th, the "Manager" that was on duty that day was very unprofessional when it came to re-checking my car from the day prior's maintenance. He took my car for a test drive and instead of being professional about it, he started talking sh*t about me to the other mechanics on the floor. He had an attitude and arrogance about him when it came to my concerns about my car. The entire staff on the mechanic floor were laughing and joking as they swarmed around my car. Never had I ever seen this before considering how many vehicles were waiting to get their car serviced. What a good Manager should have done was re-assign the car back to the original mechanic that did my car service and tend to the customer's concern without any bickerness or snarkiness. But instead, the Manager wanted to make a scene amongst his mechanics and had everyone hovering over my car. This was happening in front of my own eyes. I was really appalled. Also, my custom tire valve stem caps were STOLEN and were switched to a generic, black plastic cap. This behavior was extremely petty and childish to steal from your own paying customer.  I highly recommend for any new customer's to STAY AWAY from this place. read more

Absolutely the worst car repair experience I've ever had for the simple and uncomplicated task of an oil change. Normally I do this type of work myself but recently installed skid plates making access to the oil filter pretty difficult. Im also getting sick of trying to dodge my building security (we're not suppose to conduct auto repairs at my apartment complete). I provided firestone my own oil and filter so all they had to do was the installation. I was to be charged $10 for labor for the 10-15 mins this job would take. The first screw up Firestone made was not using the synthetic oil i gave them and filling up my engine with their standard, low grade stuff. This was pretty easy for me to figure out when I got the car back and found the jug of oil they were suppose to use unopened in the front seat. Back to Firestone for round 2. After redoing (draining the wrong oil out, putting my oil in) the job bringing the total time of this fiasco to about 1.5 hours I then departed but the second mistake was already waiting for me: a total mess of leaking oil coming from under my truck. Because I have skid plates it was impossible for me to tell if this was just a spill or something leaking. Back to Firestone for the 3rd time. Luckily, the leaking oil turned out to be residual (spilled) and not from a lose drain plug or oil filter. This means the job was not done incompetently but just lazy and sloppy. On the other hand, when I started questioning the shop mechanic about his work it was clear he had no clue what he was doing. He had no idea what the correct torque pressure was required for my oil plug nor did he use a torque wrench. SCARY! He also did not know the difference between a copper crush washer or aluminium gasket was. Kieth, the manager was a little slow in taking control of this situation and if I had not been a hands on customer (getting under the car with the mechanics, pointing things out, etc) this whole thing could have been a total disaster. The only good thing I have to say is that he did eventually make things right... although, I did not watch his mechanic install my drain plug after the 3rd visit so I am praying that they did it properly and didn't over tighten it. If they messed this part up I will be in a world of hurt. read more

Thank you General Manager Alexander & Technician 42 Joser. On October 20th, 2020 I purchased 4 new firestone Potenza run flat tires from Firestone Complete Auto Care located at 1817 Lincoln Blvd., Santa Monica, CA 90404. I checked my car in at 3:15 PM & they were finished at 5:12 PM. I was very satisfied with the service I received. Several weeks later, on Saturday, January 2, 2021 I was running errands in Marina Del Rey, California. I drove into a parking area that I was not familiar with to turn around & accidentally drove over an unmarked spike strip. This was at approximately 3:50 PM. The spike strip is no longer necessary, however for some reason the county has not removed it. As I said it was not noticeable. (There was no sign.) All the sudden the flat tire sensor light started blinking on my dashboard. My front left tire was damaged & low on air. I immediately drove my car to the fire stone dealer where I purchased the tires several weeks earlier in Santa Monica. I arrived at Firestone at approximately 4:22 PM. There were two people in line behind the checkout counter being waited on by the receptionist when I walked at the shop. The General Manager by the name of Alexander, was behind a second counter talking on the phone to a customer. As he was talking on the phone he notice me & he could sense that something was wrong. When he got off the phone he motioned me over & said "I remember you, what's wrong?" I explained to him what happened. He listened intently & patiently as I spoke. At approximately 4:28 PM Alexander, said "Let me check & see if I have the tires in". He checked & said "We're in luck, I have five run flat tires." At 4:29 PM he said "OK this is what we are going to do". I'm going to have your car put on the rack, we will lift your car up & look at all four tires to see what damage was done." he asked for my keys & handed them to Technician 42 Joser that he had summoned. This was at approximately 4:33 PM. I followed Technician 42 Joser, out to the parking lot & watched as he drove my car into the garage, put it on the rack & lifted the car up & examined all four tires. A few short minutes later the technician walked over to me & said "Where in lock only one tire was damaged. The technician was very kind! The technician immediately went to work on my car. He removed the tire rim & tire from the car. He then removed the tire from the rim. He immediately put the new tire on the rim, balanced it & remounted it on to my car. He then returned the invoice to the General Manager at 5:03 PM. Alexander, General Manager, handed me the invoice at 5:06 PM. I later found out that they were scheduled to close at 6:00 PM. They had two or three more cars they were working on. They still had to finish those cars which means they probably had to work overtime that night. It was extremely kind of them to work on my car without an appointment resulting in there working overtime. I am truly thankful. And I'm so happy I did. I called w a list of my problems and repairs needed, and Lucas fit me in the next day. Lucas is a professional + intuitive in the automotive field. He can determine what areas needs assessing and repaired. If you tell him that you have been having "X" problems, he + the staff will be able to pin-point "Y" cause. Lucas showed and explained in full detail the problems I had, and made suggestions on the best solutions for my car. I am very impressed. My Ram Promaster City drives like it's brand new! A very smooth drive. And guys... be patient. They have alot of cars to work on. And they wanna make sure everything is done right when you drive out of the lot. They are worth the wait. Ever since Omar took over their service and customer CARE has unfortunately gone way down hill. I got a quote to replace a tire and then got there, charged more and the. Had to hassle to get them to honor the quoted price - by both Omar and Jessica (?). Then first tire change they run diags they have to run and told me I needed and alignment and brake fluid exchange with abs. Came back the following week for second tire - tell me they have to do the same diag/inspection report. This time no recommendations. I say why the diff - ummm who knows - save for one time they didn't check fluid levels and second time did or.... Huh??? I met a woman there who was told she needed one thing done only to find out she didn't. I have been a long time customer and miss the gang before Omar, et al. I've been to several other Firestone locations across town and had horrible experiences - I was starting to think everytime I go to get my car worked on, rude, aggressive staff members constantly pushing of services I don't need would be expected. I am constantly in fear of being taken advantage of at auto shops because I don't know a terrible amount about cars, but Alex was super understanding and kind, dispelling all my worry and anxiety. This is the longest review I have ever written because this establishments careless behavior could have cost my wife and me our lives!! Please read ... After driving around in the area I noticed my tire warning sign came on and it was weird because my tire pressure was 39 all around only one tire was 38 which was weird to me for the tire warning sign to come on. I parked at a nearby gas station and saw a small nail in the tire. I went to this Firestone down the street. I asked someone to check out my tire. Without even really looking at it or spraying any water on it to see if it's leaving air he said (Ya that's a easy fix we can do that) I asked him can you please check if I even need the service. He brought over a bottle with fluid in it checked if air was coming out and it was I told him I would like to do the repair. He advised me they do not do the patch for outside the tire and that they have to remove the tire and patch it from the inside also rebalance the rim which would cost $30 dollars. I asked how long and I was told 45 mins so I accepted. Gave the manager my keys and took a seat. 1 hour passes by they start working on my car. While we are waiting with other people in the waiting area the employees keep screaming racial slurs and bad words none stop yelling it back and forth to each other in a joking way. Which I thought was very inappropriate especially with women there. I can see the employee working on my car is having trouble taking off the tire from the rim. He patched it and brought it back on the tire machine to reassemble. I see he is struggling to put the tire back the rim for a couple mins. He asked someone to help him. They are pushing the tire from the bottom and have a metal object trying to bend the tire onto the rim. The tire was on but not in it's right place so they keep going at it finally put air in the tire the bam bam loud sounds the tire falls into place. I notice he takes the newly assembled tire and rim to the back and is showing it to another employee. Then all of a sudden rushes to install the wheel back onto the car (Without balancing it) So this alarmed me and I asked him is something wrong only to see with my own eyes 2 huge bubbles on my tire. I asked him what is this and he couldn't talk. I asked again what happened here and the other employee next to him said to the person working on my car don't put that on it's not safe. I walked back in the office and told the "Manager" your employee damaged my tire. He said "no that was already there you need a new tire" with a laugh! Istarted getting a little angry and called one of my relatives who works at a tire shop back in the valley area where I live. I explained what happened and sent pictures. My relative advised me that he probably damaged it from the inside and messing up the metal Bead which caused the bubbles. I approach the manager and said my relative said this is what he thinks happened. He said give me a minute walked away talked to someone on the phone came back and said we will take care of the tire and get you a new one. He told me we don't have it in stock that I have to put on my donut spare tire and rim and leave my wheel and tire with him so they can order and put a new one on. I told him Santa Monica is far from me and if I can go to the Firestone closer to my house. Which he agreed that I would take my tire and wheel with me and have it fixed there. Then I notice them just laughing like nothing happened and as if they don't care. After he put on the donut I was concerned to drive back on the freeway all the way from Santa Monica to the valley. I asked the "manager" if this was safe and that my wife also needs to go to work with it in the morning. His response was "it's totally safe I've gone to San Diego and back with a donut don't worry you will be fine" I ask for some sort of paper work showing me they are gonna take care of this and he doesn't want to give me anything all he says is "Call Alex in the morning he already knows about it and will take care of it" I tell him I want to speak with this Alex (Store manger) he replies "O he wouldn't like that it's his day off best you don't bother him" He just takes a business card and writes on the back of the card needs a new tire call Alex and looks at me like you can leave now. So I leave I sit in my car go up the street call my relative tell him what has happened and he warns me make sure you don't drive over 50mph on a donut wheel and tire and that it is super dangerous if I do! I can't believe the Firestone employees would tell me "ya it's fine don't worry" and not warn me about it This is so scary because if I wasn't with my wife and she was alone and this happened she would never know she can't go over 50mph with the donut they put on. Also she might have not seen that something is going on before he wanted to put that damaged tire back on the car! This is an embarrassment! Playing with peoples lives. read more

I dropped my car off around 10:00 am for a brake change and alignment for a 67 Mustang. Frank (guy at front counter) said they could do it no problem and it would be done by 1:00 at the latest. I called at 12:00 just to check in and Frank told me they were just starting to look at it. No word for hours I called at 2:45 and Frank told me they couldn't figure out the right spec and that they couldn't do the job. All he had to do was call me and tell me what was happening. I get one day off per week and this asshole kept my car the entire day without 1.) knowing whether or not he could do the job 2.) calling me when they had a problem Terrible customer service.
