Food is pretty good, we often even order it for lunch at work. However I recently came here and remembered why I don't. The speaker is annoying as heck. This restaurant offers sit down where a server takes your order and other seating where you order at the counter and they call you when your foods ready. Because of this every minute or so (as this place is usually busy) you hear them over the intercom calling out order numbers. This makes it impossible to enjoy the music or conversations. Firestone in SLO is like a specialty place for me, I drool over the thought of their tri tip sandwiches. We were on our way to socal when we needed to figure out a place for dinner. Bakersfield was on the way and we thought why not. To my surprise there was a Firestone location! I had only been to the SLO location but was interested to try this place out. The tri tip sandwich here comes with a slathering or bbq sauce on a French roll that is perfectly soft and slightly crispy without being too doughy. The tri tip was good however the main thing that it lacked was enough bbq sauce, hence my meat was feeling a little dry compared to all the other times I've had Firestone. If they would have added just a tad more sauce to make it juicier, it would have been easier to chew and swallow. The onion rings here are also way crispier than I remember! Still tasty if you're into the crisp, I prefer my rings a little less hard and more fluffy. Overall good customer service and a solid sandwich, next time I would probably just ask for a side of bbq sauce. The restaurant itself was a little difficult to get into, we missed the entrance and had to go all the way around and make two left turns to get into the backside parking lot. This place is in an interesting part of town lol much different from its sister location in SLO! read more

Love this place! A few of my coworkers and I were looking for bar to watch basketball game on Sunday. We luckily found Firestone Grill! It's sits on corner of California Ave., off highway 99 next to McDonalds. The place was packed when we arrived. You can order your food at counter or sit at the bar which you can also place your order there. We chose the latter because all the tables were pretty much taken and no one wanted to stand in line. We sat front and center facing 3 big screens and had great view of the game. Servers were friendly and quick which made experience even better. We ordered the tri-tip sandwich, rack of ribs and some onion rings. Goodness gracious, the tri-tip sandwich itself was amazing. It was packed and filled with thick slices of tri-tip. The beef was tender, moist, and blasting w/ BBQ flavor... the sandwich took a lot of effort to eat because bbq sauce started dripping all over my hands and face. My friends and onlookers laughed at me which was ok because I was simply enjoying my meal. The onions rings were top notch and absolutely delicious. Perfectly crisp on outside, not greasy and served with ranch dressing. We ended up ordering a few more of them because we finished them off quickly and were the crowd favorites. It was essentially a sports bar with good food. A sign at the entrance directed us to seat ourselves but either with service where someone eventually comes to serve us or with no service where we order at the counter and then seat ourselves. Service was good. Food was even better. Tri-tip sando is a must. The ribs are fall off the bone great but a little salty. Basket of fries were ginormous, and so was the southwestern salad. Kids burger and hot dogs are perfect for the little ones. Price point for everything cannot be denied! $5 for a Bloody Mary? Are you kidding me?!
