I dropped by for brunch the other day and was excited to try out a new breakfast place. I'm a huge fan of eggs benedict so that's pretty much my measuring stick for breakfast locations. The eggs were well poached, nice and runny yolk. The meat portion was good, it was a touch salty. Muffin was toasted well and the hash browns were good. The hollandaise sauce was a touch heavy on the lemon but I still enjoyed it. The staff was very friendly when I entered as well so the service was good. The setback for me was the price tag, it was almost $18 for just the benedict with hash brown, no drink or anything else. It's a bit high, I think for the quality and taste if it were a few bucks cheaper I'd give pretty high praise. While conducting some business downtown my wife and I decided to stop in for breakfast. She had been here before, but my first time. As soon as you walk in you're walking into a tiny little section where you check-in. The dining area itself is very small, and the tables are even worse. For a Thursday morning the place was packed. We certainly love our breakfast/lunch cafes in Bakersfield. We were seated at a very small table. With all of the table arrangements it was barely big enough to fit our plates and drinks. Even worse than the table were any hopes of private conversation. The only thing that separated us from being seated with the other guests was about an inch of space between the tables. Service, while polite is also very quick. It's evident that they get you in, you're served, and time to go. I felt very rushed. The bright side is how quickly coffee is served which is great, but so was the check. They have a very nice menu with all sorts of breakfast options, sandwiches and drinks including beer and mimosas. (The problem is, you won't get a chance to look over the menu before being being prompted to order) I opted for the tres leches pancakes, sausage instead of bacon, hash browns instead of country potatoes, and eggs scrambled. The egg portion seemed a bit small but were well cooked, the hash browns were perfectly light and crispy, and the sausage was sausage. (Sausage is the pretty much the same wherever you go.) These pancakes were so good, I loved them. Great flavor without being too sweet, My only complaint is that the pancakes weren't warm. I'm guessing the tres leches sauce wasn't warm when added which caused the pancakes to become cold, but they were super tasty. My wife said she ordered the chicken fried steak the last time she was here, and she enjoyed it so much she ordered it again. I also tried it and it was very good. I really like that the steak was a bit crispy, nice touch. Hopefully with their success they're looking to expand, it would be nice to enjoy breakfast without sharing your conversation with others and theirs with you. read more

I heard about Scrambled from a friend who had been there and swears by the breakfast burrito. I'm usually a sucker for breakfast burritos too so I was sold! We came in on a Saturday late morning, we had to wait about 20 minutes to get seated - which the hostess was up front about and it's not surprising this place was busy! We sat at a table but ended up requesting to move to a booth that opened up. The dude and I stumbled upon scrambled when two places during the holiday weekend were closed and scrambled appear to be the only place to get breakfast and I'm so happy about that because this was probably one of the best breakfast spots in Bakersfield or even in the central Valley. The serving portions are huge. The food is so flavorful. Each time we come the place is always packed and the second time we came we had to wait about 10 to 20 minutes. Definitely worth the weight each time. I'm not sure if they take reservations, but I would highly recommend if they do make one as this place gets pretty crowded. We've been by here before and there's usually a waiting line so we thought we definitely need to try this place out, so today we finally did. I got the country potatoes and biscuit and gravy while he got the hash browns and sourdough toast and pancakes were a part of the meal. It was a very large serving for the $17.99 price. The biscuit and gravy was delicious, they had big chunks of sausage links in the gravy and the biscuit was fluffy. The negative part of my plate was the country potatoes, they were heavy on the seasoning and the pancake recipe definitely needs to be improved upon, not only did they taste like pancake flour but they crumbled, separated, and fell apart while trying to eat them. It was starting to get busy but the service was still good. Our waiter and other wait staff kept coming around and asking if everything was good which I liked. Babe planned breakfast for us, this was our first time here and he brought me here because it has high reviews. This establishment has excellent taste in music. This place offers alcoholic beverages along with a menu that contains so much to choose from. The waitress who took our order came off a tad impolite. Babe asked her something about the chilaquiles, and she mentioned the red ones were hot, and he asked for the red because he likes heat and she continued to insist the red ones were hot and by this point he had already mentioned he was Mexican. All that talk and no bite lol by that I mean the Chilaquiles weren't hot. He ordered his eggs over easy and they were cooked all the way, the cheese wasn't melted on the bland beans, but they did put a nice amount of avocado on the plate. As for me, chicken was cooked perfectly really juicy. I didn't care for the amount of mayo they put on both top and bottom bun, just way too much. The lettuce was wet helping the sandwich fall apart. The cheese plus the bacon was a lot of salt for the sandwich. The onion rings are so good but the ranch didn't compliment the rings.
