    Chilaquiles Mexicanos

I heard about Scrambled from a friend who had been there and swears by the breakfast burrito. I'm usually a sucker for breakfast burritos too so I was sold! We came in on a Saturday late morning, we had to wait about 20 minutes to get seated - which the hostess was up front about and it's not surprising this place was busy! We were served coffee which was super good and super needed to review the menu. I had every intention of verifying the breakfast burrito but I saw all the chilaquiles options and had to try one of those. We killed our plates and were so happy to be able to stop in here. We'll be back for sure!

This is the only the second time I have been here and each time it has delivered! Their food has not disappointed me yet. This time we tried the croissant sandwich, the sunshine breakfast plate, and the French toast combo. When the French toast came out I was worried at first. It didn't look like it was cooked well enough but I was so wrong...it was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. I was most excited about being able to order turkey bacon though. My daughter said her sandwich was good and my husband said his pancakes, bacon, sausage, ham, eggs and potatoes were great. This place has some great food and I will continue to go and try something different every time.

Stopped by for breakfast on the way through town. Interior is traditional diner style with mix of booths and tables. Staff was friendly, we were seated quickly, and they were quick on drink refills. Ordered a bacon breakfast burrito: was a good size and I likes the ratio of egg/cheese to potatoes. Friend ordered the tres leches French toast and enjoyed.

We went in for breakfast on Saturday morning at 9am. It was busy although we were seated right away for a group of 5. From our group, the steak and eggs plate was great along with the chiliquiles divorciados. The person who had the pork chop plate said the meat was a little dry although the potatoes were delicious. Mimosas were also good. I gave this place 4 stars because during our entire time there we weren't asked for refills on our water. It wasn't til the check came was when our server came to check on us.

We were looking for a place for breakfast and we're in the Rosedale area. Scrambled look like a nice little local café. It's on Rosedale right across from Costco. The service was a tad slow, but after we gave our order, the food came out quickly. It's basic fair with good size portions. We added a side of bacon without problem. The food was tasty, well cooked, and reasonably priced. If you're looking for a good place for breakfast, give this a try.

First time here. I will definitely be back. Polite staff. Nice little restaurant. Service for our group of 8 was ok. Food came out a different intervals, minutes apart but we were enjoying the company so it wasn't that big of a deal. Food was spot on. I ordered the chile verde omelet. Chile verde was very tender and had more heat than most places in Bakersfield serve. Potato's were excellent. Nice blend of veggies and potato. Toast was very good as I ordered the wheat and it's nice to see a place still serving two full slices. Even the diet soda was perfectly carbonated and flavored.

This is a good restaurant for breakfast in Bakersfield. We were looking for some place to eat between Los Angeles and Yosemite and found it on Yelp. Food was delicious and portions were good. Orange juice was great but the coffee was on the weak side. There were a lot of people eating when we got there but we were seated quickly. Service was prompt and friendly. Basic diner vibes.

Solid breakfast spot! Our friend was visiting and found this new spot for us to try. "You can review it on your welp" Yes, Welp! . We got there and she had already checked us in. Wait can be a little lengthy on a weekend. It took us about 20 minutes. Entrance is super small and tight, and navigating is made even more difficult as people are making their way out and in. We sat at a table but ended up requesting to move to a booth that opened up. The tables are pretty close to one another so it can be a bit strange to basically have breakfast with the people to the sides of you. Service is excellent, items on the menu are more than just pancakes and eggs. My wife got the chilaquiles, I got a breakfast chicken burrito and our friend got tres leches pancakes. The food was delicious and the staff is very accommodating to substitutions. Eggs are soft and fluffy, chilaquiles are tasty and our friend enjoyed her pancakes. It's a great place to eat, catch up and have friends drop crazy bombshells *puts down burrito* "welp.... That is intense. Hope it all works out" We have come back several times and enjoyed it all.

The dude and I stumbled upon scrambled when two places during the holiday weekend were closed and scrambled appear to be the only place to get breakfast and I'm so happy about that because this was probably one of the best breakfast spots in Bakersfield or even in the central Valley. When we arrived, there was a short wait, but we are greeted immediately and seated. The staff was so friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was great. There was so many happy patrons and hungry folks enjoying the meal. There are many options to choose from and it was such a hard pick every time we go this is our second time that we've been here so I can tell you the food is great and definitely every time we pass through or stay in Bakersfield just cause scrambled is definitely on our list . The Chilaquiles are so yummy and the staff are so awesome on recommending the different food items for different dietary restrictions . The dude enjoyed his meal as well and I did too. The serving portions are huge. The food is so flavorful. Each time we come the place is always packed and the second time we came we had to wait about 10 to 20 minutes. Definitely worth the weight each time. I'm not sure if they take reservations, but I would highly recommend if they do make one as this place gets pretty crowded. There are also a lot of to go orders so they are definitely doing something right. The staff looks happy and enjoying the work that they do which is an added bonus to the customer as well. Each time we go, we always get the Mimosa flight which you can't go wrong as their mimosas are top-notch. Also, you must get the biscuits and gravy you won't be disappointed at all. I seriously cannot wait to come back. You will thank me!

Very short wait for a nice diner breakfast! Service was fast and helpful. The menu was plentiful and so were the portions. Great food and a fun, cozy little breakfast spot :)

We've been by here before and there's usually a waiting line so we thought we definitely need to try this place out, so today we finally did. The place isn't very big but it offers enough seating to offer a party of two to about 12 people. It's clean and has a fresh look. Anyways, when we entered it took a moment for someone to realize we were waiting to be seated. Our server was nice and welcoming and was quick to bring us our drinks. Their menu offers a nice variety of combination plates, breakfast sandwiches, omelets, pancakes and waffles to a few Mexican dishes and lunch items. We both ordered their Sunshine breakfast plate, It was a generous portion served with three eggs, a slice of ham, two sausage links, and three strips of bacon. I got the country potatoes and biscuit and gravy while he got the hash browns and sourdough toast and pancakes were a part of the meal. It was a very large serving for the $17.99 price. The biscuit and gravy was delicious, they had big chunks of sausage links in the gravy and the biscuit was fluffy. The negative part of my plate was the country potatoes, they were heavy on the seasoning and the pancake recipe definitely needs to be improved upon, not only did they taste like pancake flour but they crumbled, separated, and fell apart while trying to eat them. My husband enjoyed his selections and devoured his plate minus the pancakes.

This was our 1st visit to Scrambled since they changed their name. Upon arrival we were quickly greeted and seated. We don't have to wait long for our drink order either. It was starting to get busy but the service was still good. Our waiter and other wait staff kept coming around and asking if everything was good which I liked. My husband had the California Omelette and said it was really good but didn't have a lot of veggies inside like he would have hoped. The country potatoes had a lot of flavor and were really good. He also had sourdough bread and that was amazing especially dipped in the gravy. I had the biscuits and gravy. I love the biscuit itself but the gravy just needed to be a little thicker but overall was good. I liked that it had little chunks of sausage. The bacon was cooked nice and crispy and I ordered both of these as a side dish. I would definitely recommend this place and I would love to try the other options they have. The only thing is that the fans were on so it was kinda chilly and it cooled our food a little. I wish they were not on as fast it really didn't need it as it wasn't hot. I loved the decor all neutral colors.

What a great find! We decided to have breakfast here after my husband's appointment. We're glad we did. The staff are all so friendly. The menu options are very good too. We both ordered the huevos rancheros topped with chile verde. The tortilla was crispy and had a nice crunch to it. That's how I prefer it as opposed to the soggy tortilla that some places serve. It also comes with 2 eggs prepared to your preference. I added the potatoes to my order and they were really good. The potatoes are either cooked in a chorizo oil or some type of seasoned oil as they had a really nice coloring and flavor to them. The star was the delicious, tangy chile verde! It was so delicious! I've had my share of chile verde in my life, and this one is right up there with the best. Everything was so delicious, fresh, and reasonably priced. The music, the vibe, and the service all make this a nice, cozy spot for breakfast, brunch or lunch. We will definitely be back.

Last year I made a large reservation for about 10 ladies to celebrate someone and on the way to the restaurant they called to confirm the reservation (about 30 minutes before), but I did not hear my phone. When I arrived, a distraught friend told me that they did not have our reservation so I asked what the issue was. The manager told me because I did not confirm, they were not sure they were going to hold the table. I apologized that I had not recieved a call, but asked if we could still have the table (I was there on time and could see the large table with the reservation note on it). The manager begrungenly said they would allow us to still dine with them, but they said they would not seat us until more of our party arrived. I asked if we could wait for our party at the bar, but they said they would not because every seat at the bar was taken. So just a heads up, you cannot stand at the bar, you cannot stand around the restaurant, and they do not have a place to sit and wait for your table, you just have to stand outside (I'm sure it has to do with safety or firecodes, I didn't argue, we waited outside until people at the bar left). Once we were seated, the staff was not friendly. Wondering if we should leave or not, I called a friend who works near the building who frequents this place often on what I should do. He told me to go back inside and that the staff would be nice. When I returned, a new server came to our table with a tray of shots and said they would be taking care of us for the rest of the evening. I figured maybe the manager and that other server was just having a bad day, my friend must have called the restaurant and asked his most trusted server to help us, and enjoyed the rest of our evening. I didn't want to risk it another bad experience, so I haven't returned since. A few months ago during the whole Cesar Chavez news broke out, that friend who frequented the place went with another friend to the Botonist and was talking about the news while they were dining. The manager overheard. Later when my friends were getting ready to leave, the manager started becoming upset with my friends and told my guy friend, "I HOPE SOMEBODY R*PES YOU". Stunned, he asked her to repeat herself and she did. My friends left. The chefs and building are wonderful, but obviously something needs to be done about the management and staff with being professional and treating customers with respect. I've worked in the service industry and understand how stressful it can be, but I have always been able to keep my cool around people who are trying to enjoy a nice meal. Hoping they recieve the help they need as I love to see my community thrive.

Yes, we were basically on dirt roads that saw a few scattered homes here and there, and visible old school phone towers (the brown kind) connected with wires (where crows sit on a row) existed, and not much else. We drove around in some circles, looking for this fabled store and found nothing, not even a Bigfoot. We noted how the moment felt like we were on an Iowa highway because we saw expansive fields and experienced a Middle-America atmosphere. I wanted a small stalk of wheat in between my teeth. As we drove, we saw this place and decided that this joint would replace the store we were looking for. At this point I started to listen to Carry on My Wayward Son by Kansas. If you know, you know. As soon as I entered I felt like I had stepped into a diner in the middle of nowhere, the type of spot where brothers talked about saving people, hunting things, you know the family business. My friend Denise did not know what I was talking about and when I tried to introduce the world to her with corny prompts she decided not to play along. Still for a fan the experience was nothing but a win!(chester). I cannot remember the person who helped us but she was a server who reported that she had lived in the surrounding area for most of her life. She was deepening the believe that we were on a route diner neglected by city reality. During this visit, I had fried okra for the first time in my life. It was weird to taste but not in a bad way. More like I had never tasted this texture before in my life. The texture that I had not tried before in my life was a gooey vegetable. Like the texture of the outside was exactly as advertised--- fried goodness. The actual okra was the gooey part. I do not want to sound crass, truly, I do not, but it did feel like enjoying something slimy, and I will leave it at that. Again, not wrong, just weird But I will not get it again. The server- the homegrown one- gave us fried pickles and these were much more to taste. Like, I i have had fried pickles before and I loved them but I had some that were not for me. But these, these, were pickle spears fried to brown goodness, and the mixture hit green- which does not mean go, more like Hulk enjoys, instead of smashes. It was a simple dish yes- green spear pickle fried but sometimes the goodness of a county fair is exactly what a roadtrip snack should be. The fair came to my table and I am not mad at that. On this trip I did have the Willow Dip which I feel is a close cousin to a french dip. What this place did well, at least I think, is putting it on an onion baguette. I am not sure if onion baguette is a middle-of-nowhere bread, but, I allowed it because the taste of the bread was, like tailored made for me, I am a sucker for onion, and not just because it gives me sexy breath. The food was standard, solid fare. Everything was just good nothing wrong with it, all good with it. The sauces were tasty, and added smoky sweet flavor that was welcomed. So this elevated the dish by addding a hickory taste. It did not save the dishes, but did make them better. The decorations were texas heavy. I should have taken more pictures. But sometimes the imagination allows for a space to feel more than at it is.

Eating this felt exactly like a cozy October morning. The Verdict: Between the perfect diner nostalgia and those incredible pancakes, this breakfast was a total home run. If you're looking for ultimate comfort food that lives up to the TV hype, this place is a must-visit!

Our waiter spilled an entire tray of iced teas and waters next to/on us, and then left to change his apron and serve other tables while we sat dripping and ignored for nearly 15 mins until I had to flag someone down to help us clean because my shoes were soaked through and the liquid river continued under our table (he handed me a few napkins until I insisted on an actual mop, which he obliged with an audible sigh). Someone finally put down a wet floor sign, and considering all the elderly diners they didn't seem concerned about the giant puddle in the walkway that went ignored. I don't care about the spill, but just apologize and clean up - don't disappear and then come back only to announce that you're going on break. We finally got another server to take our order, but it was such an odd "we don't like non-locals" vibe that we ate quickly and got outta there. We pass through Bakersfield often during road trips, but will skip this next time.

Many have done the roadtrip from the Central Coast to Bakersfield via Hwy 166. And Cuyama Buckhorn…read moreis a favorite stop along that route. You can't miss the huge "Coffee" sign visible from the highway. We recently had to drive said route and decided to finally visit. And we were happy we did. Cuyama Buckhorn serves tasty American dishes from biscuits and gravy to burgers. It was lunch, so we had the burgers. Very good! We tried the apple pie as well and it was nice. We stopped by again on the way back home for some coffee. Good stuff. Not a fan of the matcha drink ( but too much milk) Great location for travelers, friendly service. Fun diner vibe. If you're traveling via the 166, definitely stop, have a coffee and a bite to eat.

Another great adventure driving out to New Cuyama to eat lunch at the Buckhorn Cafe. Last time we…read morewanted to stop here there was a field fire up ahead, so we drove back to San Luis Obispo through California Valley, a Wild West adventure on miles and miles of unpaved road, back through time to the Carrizo Plain national monument. The drive out was lovely, with lots of yellow broom blooming on the hills. We passed the Firefighter Monument that my husband tends that commemorates the firefighters killed in the Spanish Ranch fire, and checked out the growth of some oak trees around it. We pulled in for an early lunch at the Buckhorn and got a nice booth near a window. We were waited on immediately and provided water and a new menu with more of an emphasis on breakfast dishes. It was early lunch for us, and I ordered my favorite "Breakfast Salad," a Cobb salad, which has bacon and egg in it. My husband got the pulled pork sandwich, a specialty of the place. There was a delay getting the wine menu, and my first choice had run out, so I tried a white that was close to a Sauvignon Blanc from a local vineyard. I had spied some very authentic looking apple pie coming in, and we ordered a slice for desert. It came with a couple of scoops of creamy ice cream, and had a sure-enough baked through crust with juicy, cinnamony apples inside! On the way to the car, we noticed a local rancher "branding" the building, by pushing his heated up brand into the front wall of the restaurant where many other brands appeared. The paint smoked a bit, and when he was done, a spade appeared on the facade, "Spade Ranch," he told me, literally making his brand relevant to the cafe! We reveled in the beauty of the ride back, appreciated out step back in time into the history of this beautiful valley.

Since we…read morehad a party of six, I called ahead to make a reservation, and the process was quick and easy. When we arrived, we were seated promptly, which was especially appreciated on such a busy holiday. I ordered the lamb chops, and they were absolutely delicious. The accompanying sauce complemented the meat perfectly and was easily my favorite part of the meal. One of the restaurant's signature touches is preparing the house salad tableside, which adds a nice, classic steakhouse feel. My only wish is that the salad portions were a little more generous, as the serving felt on the smaller side. We also ordered the calamari appetizer, which unfortunately was the biggest disappointment of the meal. It lacked the flavor and texture we were expecting. The staff was friendly, but the service was a bit slow throughout our visit. The restaurant is conveniently located in the Costco shopping center, so there's plenty of parking available. Just be prepared for some traffic getting in and out of the shopping center, especially during peak dining hours.

I've been a loyal fan of this spot for a long time, but this was my first visit since they…read morerelocated the restaurant, and the upgrade is real. The vibes in the new space are absolutely immaculate. There is so much more energy here, and the decorations are incredibly cute. It's the perfect backdrop for a killer meal. The Main Event: This time around, I went with the En Fuego Burger. This beast is loaded with a chile-spiced beef patty, pepperjack, sharp cheddar, thick-cut bacon, chipotle mayo, pepper relish, pickled jalapeños, and a mountain of fried jalapeños + onion strings. The Flavor Profile: This burger delivers on every level, but those fried onion strings were to die for. For the side, I got the sweet potato fries, which are served as big, thick-cut wedges. They come paired with a duo of spicy ketchup and a marshmallow dipping sauce. Switching between the two was amazing, the marshmallow sauce actually makes the fries feel like a dessert. The Drink: To wash it all down, I ordered the basil lemonade, and omg, I need to figure out how to recreate this at home. It's exactly what it sounds like, crisp, refreshing lemonade with a perfect herbal basil finish. The Verdict: If you loved their old spot, the new location takes everything to the next level. Between the upgraded atmosphere, the dessert-like fries, and that refreshing lemonade, I will absolutely be coming back here again and again.

I immediately noticed that my favorite dish, the shakshuka eggs, was no longer on the menu. Thinking it might just be a seasonal change, I decided to try something different. I ordered the carrot ginger soup, beet and goat cheese salad, and my usual favorite cocktail, the Pear Necessities. The cocktail was the first disappointment. It tasted completely different from what I've come to enjoy, none of the smoky mezcal flavor and none of the sweetness from the pear liquor that made it a favorite. I figured it might just be a new bartender and tried to brush it off. The carrot ginger soup was just okay. I found myself searching for both the carrot and ginger flavors, neither of which really stood out. The beet and goat cheese salad was fine, but it's hard to get too excited about a salad. Overall, the food felt subpar compared to what I've come to expect from Moo Creamery. The restaurant itself was also surprisingly loud, making conversation difficult and adding to the overall frustration. It was hard to get our waitress's attention throughout the meal, and service felt disjointed. The most disappointing moment came when we noticed my son's chicken strips and fries sitting on the counter for 13 minutes before they were finally brought to our table. By then, it was difficult not to question whether the food was still as fresh and hot as it should have been. We came in excited to experience the new location, but between the noisy atmosphere, inattentive service, and food that didn't live up to Moo Creamery's usual standards, we left feeling disappointed. Sadly, I probably won't be returning. It's hard to justify giving it another try when there are so many other restaurants in town that consistently deliver quality food, service, and a better overall dining experience.
