First time and what a flavorful surprise! I suppose there's a reason for the "fire" in their name. There's a unique "fire-grilled" aroma and taste to their food. I had Kung pao chicken and my father the chicken with green beans. Our server was pleasant and very accommodating. So glad we chose Firewok for lunch Will definitely return upon our next visit!!! read more

We're happy to have a new Chinese restaurant on the coast. The menu is smaller than places like the old China House or Asian Kings Kitchen, but the food we've tried so far has been good. They also offer a small selection of dumplings. Their lunch special (served until 3pm) is a great deal and it includes soup, an entrée, an egg roll, and rice. We've tried the fried rice, orange chicken, General Tso's chicken, Mongolian beef, and most of the dumplings, and everything has been enjoyable. The restaurant is usually pretty quiet inside, and the service is quick and very kind. Overall, we're glad to have this new spot in the area and look forward to trying more of the menu. read more

I had low expectations as is for a small town Chinese eatery. This being said the food was fine but the woman taking the orders at the register was very rude. After paying for a rather large order and tipping generously she says I cannot wait inside the restaurant for my food. I am a paying customer being told to leave! I would avoid as there is much better in Half Moon Bay than this. read more

The dim sum was delicious and truly authentic. Tofu with vegetables bit bland and watery. Fried rice could have used more egg, but okay. Definitely will go for the dumplings and dim sum, but not Chinese dishes. read more

I had an amazing experience at firewok! The food was absolutely delicious -- every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The staff were super friendly and attentive, making sure everything was perfect. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, great for both casual dining and special occasions. Highly recommend trying Honey Walnut Shrimp -- it was my favorite! Definitely coming back again soon. read more

Great standard ! Dishes were excellent: salt and pepper fried chicken, garlic sauce eggplant and egg fried rice, all freshly cooked! Staff were so friendly and attentive, lots of parking available. Definitely will be back next time I'm in Half Moon Bay again. read more

I was excited to try this place for the first time. I ordered online as they offer delivery (or so it says) on the website. As soon as the order payment was complete, they assign it to a DoorDasher.. ? Ok, that's fine, not a problem. The problem was that the order took over an hour and 15 minutes, not because of the DoorDash driver (he waited 45 minutes at the restaurant) I even called the place to ask what was taking so long as the restaurant itself texted me roughly 30 minutes into waiting saying that my order was ready early and would arrive before the time they originally told me.. anyway, pretty much was told we are so busy but I ordered 4 things. Food came shortly after that. I don't want to say that the food isn't good, but half of it was cold, and the chow Mein was burnt everywhere you can even smell it through the plastic bag. I took one bite of sweet and sour pork and threw it away, it just didn't seems right. Potstickers were freezing cold and the broccoli beef was ehh. I will probably never go back to this place again as there is a Chinese restaurant way better right down the street on highway one. It sucks when you try a new place that's you're excited for and they disappoint majorly read more

So happy to see new spots in Half moon bay so I had to try Firewok! The staff were all so friendly and greeted me upon walking in. I had ordered a hot and sour soup, shrimp chow mein, salt and pepper wings and honey walnut prawns with a side of cucumber salad. The food was so good and flavorful and the portions were just right! Needless to say I'll be coming back for more soon! This just might be the best Chinese in HMB, so glad they're here now! Give them a try! read more

Unfortunately the General's chicken I got for my pickup order was absolutely inedible. The sauce was watery, the breading was soggy and the chicken was rubbery. The entire thing was a flavorless pathetic mess. If you guys see this review and maybe you were just having a bad night, I'm willing to give you another chance on the General's chicken! My fiance and I ordered the orange chicken plate with the noodles and it was very tasty. The chicken had a good crunch, it wasn't overly dry or too saucy it was just perfect. I could taste orange zest in it so I can tell they make their own sauce. It came with an egg roll and that was very good as well. I think the portion is just right for one person so if you're looking for huge portions this won't be the place for you but overall very flavorful. PS. The owners were very friendly towards my fiance who picked up the food and even offered him water while he waited. read more

We ordered the basics, as that's a good way to determine the quality of a new place. Shrimp chow mein, sweet and sour shrimp, and crab Rangoon. It was all supremely disappointing. The crab Rangoon was actually inedible--the salt content was astronomical, and the flavor was "off." The sweet and sour shrimp was mushy, not at all crispy, and the sauce was gelatinous and unappealing. I didn't try the chow mein but my husband said it was barely mediocre. If a place can't make a good impression with simple dishes, it's not a good sign. It was by far the worst Chinese food we have had in CA. read more

They just opened, so perhaps need a bit of time to work out the kinks. Understaffed is an understatement, although it is nice to see one of our little Coastside restaurants so busy! I would recommend letting people know the average wait time so they can make a decision about whether or not they want to stay. Shumai was quite tasty. Beef & broccoli was "ok" & lukewarm. Rice was cold (not even a little warm), as they were serving it out of an open storage container right there on the counter... Not entirely disappointed. We went to the soft opening on October 20. Food was excellent, veggie potstickers, shrimp dumplings, wonton soup, and shrimp chowmein. Everything was very fresh and tasty, and the server said the wontons were made in house not frozen. The cheesecake was very good. Service was very good. Good ambiance. They had a line of takeout orders and a half full restaurant. I wish the Firewok is successful. read more

I will start by saying the food here is delicious. And fresh. However, the prices are extravagant. I've been ordering from Asian King for years. The prices here are easily double for half the serving size as Asian King. If you don't mind the expense and small amounts you'll be happy. If youre still hungry head to Asian King down the highway. read more

The ambiance was lively and busy , the decor might change with new ownership down the road but in my opinion it may just need some elbow grease and some touch ups here and there. Took almost an hour and half to get delivered. Food was really cold. No sauce. No fortune cookies. Taste of the food was meh. Portions were very small in little to go or meal prep containers. Not enough at all for a family of 4. Very disappointing. Also I have had way better Chinese food. Sad to leave a review like this, as it's hard for us locals to get some good little restaurants on the coast. Will stick to "over the hill" for Chinese night. Maybe they have some kinks to work out. Tried this place for the first time and it did not disappoint! The sweet and sour chicken was super flavorful, and the orange chicken had that perfect mix of sweet, tangy. You can tell everything was freshly made. The chow mein was also really good -- not too oily, with full of flavor. Definitely hitting this spot again when I'm craving Chinese takeout! The food was very good. I will return. The service can be improved. I was there early and it was not crowded but the servers were fussing with take out/delivery orders and kind of ignoring me. I would appreciate a small scoop of rice with a $15 entree. I don't need a lot of rice in a separate bowl. (For $2!) Just a scoop. The staff were friendly and the service was very fast. The chow mein was flavorful (and not greasy) and the chicken was tender.
